  1. It's not a bad attempt, but needs some refinement.

    • The leg plates should extend down just above the top of the boots.

    • The lack of definition in the leg plates could be fixed with enhancements to the belt instead. Add the pouches as well as the hip plates. The holster could be added, but might be better looking with just a similar looking pouch.

    • The shield gen is on the wrong side of the chest. However, it makes more sense there since all of our trooper characters are right handed. I mean, you don't want the butt of your rifle against the gen. And it's only all of the cinematic troopers that have the distinction of being all left handed thanks to poor weapon design. :wea_07:

    • Don't use bright white as the base color. Use the pale gray dye color. Not only is pale gray closer to the actual armor color, but color matching bright white just doesn't work with the vast majority of trooper armor unless the base color of the piece is already bright white (and there are really only a couple sets that use bright white as a base).

    • I'm personally up in the air about worn vs shiny. If you apply a pale gray dye to the armor, the chest piece does actually have some distress marks, they are just washed out by the bright white base color. However, none of the other pieces have any distress marks.

If it's too late to fix, then I'm hoping we'll get something better later. Jace Malcom's Havoc Armor or something such. ;)

  2. 36hrs after the patch goes live, there will be a couple hundred people trying to undercut each other selling the race authorization for credits on the GTN. Do a round of max level dailies on one character and you'll like be able to easily afford it.

Spend your credits and let other folks spend their cash!

  3. Could be worse. You could be Republic and have to endure Baron Deathmark voiceovers.

I could really do without the "good shot" commentary. Since it's the Deathmark voice talent, it makes the battle feel more like Hutball than a space fighter battle.

  4. It's annoying when a turret gets a kill shot on your target as well. Right now, assists and kills seem to give the same reward, so no big loss other than shiny stats at the end of the battle. It does make getting kill achievements really hard when the other team's pilots didn't seem to pass basic flight.

They need to change the message to something more entertaining though.

  5. And what would happen? People would not buy any more RoTHC.. they would wait.

Whereas.... Bioware's approach actually incents players to buy now.. and not wait. They essentially fully subsidize a subscribers purchase with in game CCs. IF CCs are of no value to the player... they will still wait. But most players will buy now.. and play now... and take the CCs.. rather then wait around if they don't already own it.

This was a good business move to encourage more paid sales of the expac before it's free date, while still giving notice ahead of time.

Yes, the 48hr notice was a generous window to encourage folks to buy with the incentive. Any purchases done between 11 Aug and the announcement on 10 Sept don't count because no one knew of the incentive.

  6. Well if there are people being paid to promote a product, it is logical to think there are people being paid by competitors to bad mouth a product. So no need to debate, anyone that disagrees with you is one or the other. :p

Back when I did game development, I always argued for an espionage line item to be added to budgets...

Oh wait, we had more important things to spend money on. Like hiring folks to post good feedback on forums and taking reviewers out to five star establishments in Vegas.

Further oh wait... We didn't have the money to do that either. Only the Electronic Arts and Microprose guys got that kind of budget. We Hasbro, SSI, and New World guys were lucky to get enough money in the budget to buy a plain hamburger meal at McDondalds when the press came to visit. We probably lost a tenth of a review point here or there because we made them cut the hamburger into quarters so that every reporter got a piece. :p

  7. So... a mini EvE?

That does sound a bit much for the SWTOR engine.

The spiritual predecessors would be closer to the X-Wing or Tie Fighter PC space sims with an added crafting and customization component. You could even walk around on the larger ships.

Now I'm getting all nostalgic for my YT-1300. I think I had more fun customizing the interior than I had getting my group into fights with it... heh.

  8. Other baseless claims on the internet cannot be used to validate baseless claims and accusation on the internet. ;)

I'm talking about actual proof to substantiate an accusation.. not internet wind. I know you know the difference IH. :)

Asking someone to post the unpostable to substantiate the unsubstantiated. Your impropriety knows no bounds! :D

OP, these folks do it because, in their own way, they believe they are doing something good for a service they enjoy. A minority end up doing more harm than good (kind of like that kid in debate that no one wanted on their team because they get a little too overzealous and/or overbearing), but you can't fault them for that. In their hearts, they believe they are doing the right thing.

If folks would stop trying to "post to win," we could actually have some civil, decent conversations around here.
