  1. it's level 16, valor 12, and kicks all kind of *** against higher level players.
  2. i have a dps sage alt... i'm OP as hell. a 4 ability rotation (that's cooldowns are all up by the end of said rotation) will kill anything by the time it's done unless there's some real strong teamwork from their side.
  3. no need to be like that stejo, i can understand why people may be concerned.
  4. using the tool i made here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=240685 to see the difference in damage between two people, where one has expertise and the other doesn't, input the same offensive stats on both set one and two, then input an expertise amount (500 is a good average) into the offensive stats of set one, and the defensive stats of set two. in my example, both have: 1200 primary stat (strength/aim/willpower/cunning) 600 force/tech 600 power 250 crit rating 100 surge rating 100 accuracy 306-459 weapon damage both hitting the same defence values: 4000 armour the guy with expertise hits for 1254 damage per second the guy without expertise hits for 1022 damage per second that's per second, not per ability use, so the damage on individual abilities is actually inflated beyond that value. it also means that the actual difference in damage is 464 per second, so the guy without expertise is going to be burned down a lot quicker. here's the thing though, the majority of fresh 50's won't have anywhere near equal stats to the guy with 500 expertise, so the difference in damage per second is likely to be a lot higher. FYI, i'm running almost 600 expertise, and it's VERY obvious to me when i'm hitting someone who has none. it's like a hot knife through butter... and i'm tank spec lol.
  5. no problem. i actually did something similar for WAR as well... http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/232/index/8426936/1
  6. it's just an excel spreadsheet, you have to input all your stats manually, and it doesn't pull anything directly from the game. the information regarding the ability damage formula is also freely available. this is just a tool to help people get a basic idea of their performance increase/decrease before they spend credits on making/removing mods from gear and potentially having to go back again.
  7. Hi guys, i whipped this up really quickly today, it's fairly basic but it does it's job... FOR DPS it allows you to compare two sets of stats, and quickly see whether your dps is likely to go up or down. FOR TANKS it allows you to see whether your incoming dps goes up or down based on your current stats vs the changes you might make. LIMITATIONS the base ability used is the jedi knight ability "slash". the tool assumes you only use this ability, and that you use it every 1.5 seconds. of course in reality we rotate between abilities and form our own sequences. however this will at the very least provide you with a statistical basis to go on. the tool requires you to input the value of "0" into "offhand min", and into "shield rating", otherwise it will assume you have an offhand, or your enemy is using a shield. assumes you are level 50 is in excel format at the moment... can work on a website version sometime with some help. WHAT IT DOES calculates ability min/max based on the stats you input and weapon values and adjusts your final dps values based on: your crit rating your surge rating your accuracy rating your expertise rating your enemies defence rating your enemies shield rating your enemies absorbtion rating your enemies armour rating your enemies expertise rating accounts for crits being un-shieldable HOW TO USE IT if you're a tank, it would be wise to coordinate with a dps guild mate and ask for their stats so you have a solid comparison to go by, then simply enter your tanking stats into set one, and put what you're thinking of changing them to into set 2, it will tell you if you will recieve more or less dps from the changes, and how much. if you're a dps, it would be wise to coordinate with a tank guild mate and ask for their defensive stats so you have a solid comparison to go by, then simply enter your dps stats into set one, and put what you're thinking of changing them to into set 2, it will tell you if you will deal more or less dps from the changes, and how much. FUTURE GOALS make a tool that helps healers allow tanks to see both their dps AND damage reduction changes on the same sheet make this in website format if possible, pull ability values from TORhead (or similar site) so that players can input an ability rotation any feedback/requests/suggestions gratefully recieved. i may update occasionally via twitter @LeeDevonald linky: http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/pvp/swtor_damage_compare_v1.xlsx UPDATE 10/02/2012: fixed a major math issue that was causing dps to be way out of whack... was also adding dps instead of subtracting it as shield values went up. lolz. updated to include the 1.1.3 surge changes. linky: http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/pvp/swtor_damage_compare_v1.1.xlsx UPDATE 29/02/2012 fixed an issue where crit rate was causing dps to go down linky: http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/pvp/swtor_damage_compare_v1.2.xlsx UPDATE 09/03/2012 i broke accuracy last time, it's fixed now. linky: http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/pvp/swtor_damage_compare_v1.3.xlsx
  8. for the same reason Crytek did this: http://www.crymod.com/uploads/mediapool/crysis2_0403/crysis2_screen1_03042010.jpg http://www.crymod.com/uploads/mediapool/crysis2_0403/crysis2_screen2_03042010.jpg because they can, and because it makes people go "ooooooo".
  9. bumpety. feedback would be helpful guys, i know some of you have downloaded it (quite a lot actually).
  10. oops, forgot to mention it accounts for the fact that crits can't be shielded... FIXED!

  12. personally i think they should change dust storm, so that it increases the aggression caused by all attacks while in soresu form by 25/50 percent at 1/2 points.
  13. once you're around the 10% expertise mark, the diminishing returns on it mean you can probably afford to focus on better stats. that said, 10% expertise bonus makes a huge difference.
  14. i don't think there are enough elites, and many of the fights i had (in quests) felt... well, dull and lifeless... but i dislike pve generally and anything that can make it more challenging is good in my opinion. they should create a "nightmare mode" server, where all mobs start out as strong, strong become elite, elite become champs, and champs have a 15% damage dealt/recieved bonus.
  15. really? my girlfriend still sleeps with me on a regular basis so she has no reason to get jealous of e-characters...

    Expertise "bug"

fraid it doesn't work like that... you don't benefit from the expertise on your companion, however, your companion does! if you go ganking on voss or whatever, or get jumped in the pve area of ilum (i'm on a pvp server), your companion gains the expertise bonus in those encounters. http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/Screenshot_2012-01-26_12_52_00_482712.jpg http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/Screenshot_2012-01-26_12_52_05_181981.jpg yes i know my companion looks like a muppet... can't turn off helmets for companions, makes me sad
  17. please take this: http://allthingsordinary.se/images/original/569__seal-of-approval.jpg?1256695294 and go forth into warzones knowing you rock.
  18. i do, and they still can if you spec right. learn to stack magic power.
  19. yeah we're forcing slave labour on one of our guildies in farming these crystals lol. anyway, proof that the battlemaster sabers for republic are black-blue: http://crazyferretstudios.com/public/swtor/Screenshot_2012-01-25_15_47_24_083004.jpg
  20. cunning based assault cannons are a separate issue... defence = defence chance, what if a player decided they wanted to spec defensively on their dps character? where's the problem in that? it's perfectly viable in a lot of situations, especially when you know that dps player is likely to come under heavy focus. the guy who said "why did you RE it to purple" was exactly right, why didn't you just keep REing greens until you got a crit blue?
  21. the way to get around this, assuming you have the correct schematic is: get as many shockfrozen waters as you like, put x amount in your lockbox but keep one on you, go to the magenta node, spawn the mob, kill it, get the magenta crystal, send pet on crafting mission, go back to lockbox and collect one water, repeat. you can essentially chain farm it in this way. if you do it on a guildwide scale (which is also possible), they all need to give you the magenta crystal one at a time while you send your pets away on missions. it's possible in this way to have 25 magenta crystals being crafted in one go.
  22. black-blue: (republic) battlemaster lightsaber colour. looks like no purple for us republics at this rate
  23. that aside, for pvp discussion... DAOC > WAR > WoW > This.
  24. slightly off topic. i actually think WoW has done more to harm the mmo genre than any other game in history. and when project titan launches, i think that too, will fail. the reason why? because it's not WoW... what people need to realise is that WoW didn't start out with all of the subscribers it has now, it didn't start out with the huge following, it didn't start out amazing and shiny. it started out as a grind fest, everything was difficult to get and to achieve, but players stuck with it because that was acceptable then. and the game has grown, and changed, addapted, become what it is today... sure people knock it but it IS the most successful MMO in history, without a doubt. but that's where the problem lies. every new mmo, EVERY new mmo, like it or not, will be compared in one way shape or form for that very reason. that will include titan. when it launches, people will race through the content, be bored of the end game, be bored of x/y/z, tell blizard they did a/b/c wrong this time round, just because it's "not like WoW". and even if it was "just like WoW", the complaint would then be "it's too much like WoW". that's why world of warcraft has hurt the industry, it's set a standard so impossible that it can never be reached in either end of the spectrum.
