  1. It bogles m mind that this skill is still broken (to make money that it). On high-population servers, who cares about it because I make a whole lot more money selling stuff on the GTN anyways. I also happen to play on a low-pop server (Nathema) with a static group. On that server, nobody uses the GTN, nothing ever sells (or extremly rarely). Now slicing would've been perfect for this server. At least to allow ppl to have money without mindless grinding. With the current state of the skill, it can't even provide enough to get by. Too bad they re-nerfed it at the Ilum-disaster thing fix... I'm preeeety sure it's worst than before too, I used to run a couple mission and net a few k's after a 3 hour session while doing other thing. Now All I've been doing is loosing money. My 2 cents. -- Francois424
  2. I'm just biting it waiting for the AA function. That's really what i'm waiting for as a lot of forum friends of mine where unanimous on the subject: AA really pumps the game's graphics a few knotch. Can't wait to see it. -- Francois424
  3. Oh no, i'm enjoying it quite a lot. Did run into very hard times when they nerfed Slicing tho as I like taking a break of XP-ing (and XP is evevrywhere in this game) everynow and then to make money and be correctly geared for my next few levels; but I did manage to fins another money maker or Two. I have so far a Trooper main and a Sith Assassin. I tought I'd hate the trooper, but so far i'm ajoying it much, much more that I tought I would. As for Sith assassin, man is being evil in a game fun or what ? No more goodie-two-shoes. I'm holing as much as I can on JK because of 2 things: PPL I know are saying they are underpowered, and second I am waiting for the Togruta Race to really dig into it's story. Anyways, I know there isn't much to do at 50 yet (This isnt FF11 endgame quality by a longshot) so I'm just enjoying the ride and taking my time. -- Francois424
  4. I usually skip then and move on to the next planet. When I finish that planet, before heading to the next, I go back to the old one and do them. If they are still too hard, I come back after the next new planet and so on. Unless my friend(s) is on, in which case I do it with him/. If I happen to run into someone doing them at the same time I get near it, I'll help. It's a win-win situation, but I really dont waste my time. I'd much rather press on and get my companions quicker. But that's just me.
  5. I'm (obviously) going to be asking for togruta as well... As for those worried about voice acting, I'd like to bring your attention to the fact that Voice acting is on a Class/Gender trigger, not races. So all sith warriors have same voice, and same goes for every class. So don't worry about it. -- Francois424
  6. Because of hats ? Beleive me or not, but if I had a Togruta character, the last thing I'd wanna do is hide her face... heck almost all my characters have the helm option turned off already. =)
  7. +1 I finally found my "niche" as well, and I'm out of the hole of being broke. And I can tell you, Slicing didnt need a nerf at all. Think of it what you will; Bioware did nerf it, and from the looks of it they ain't going to put it back, even by a few % more (and good thing if I'm wrong). I now make 3 times as much in the same timeframe. The only difference is that some people are still buying what I make and there isnt too much competition (won't last, but it will allow me to get by and gear my companion and I well enough, expend my inventory up to the 50k mark, and still have enough to spare). On the other hand, I still have slicing level'd. Tell you what, maybe 3-6 missions are worth it now, and That's it. Out of those 6, only 2 are *really* worth doing. 2 out of about 60 possibilities... I'm going to call Slicing broke as it stands right now. Good night all -- Francois424
  8. I must admit that I am very VERY tired, of trying to find a substitute for a good money maker. I'm not talking something that gives 20k/hour, but at least something that keeps me alive. I've tried 6 skills (thats a lot of skill levelling), and so far most of what I've read an tried were lies. Someone saying you do X mission and you can NPC vendor it for 200/ea ? No way; 20 ea is more like it. Unless you meant the Trade network, but prices are plummetting while skills/repairs and just about everything else stays still. I'm tired of trying... I like to stay put at a level, making money, and gear myself properly (which includes companionS in this game as well mind you). I also like expending inventory t be comfortable, and then move on. So far the only way I've found to make money is to level the main quest and it's sub quest, which mean an extremly narrow tunnel of no-opportunity beside following the rails. I really don't want to cancel; this game is gorgeous, has amazing Voice acting, good scenarios (even the JK story some ppl warned me about is great, I want more). Flashpoints are interactive and fun... But then you get knocked uncounscious from the lack of credits. I really, REALLY don't care how they fix it. I really dont care if BW wants to reply to this thread or not and I dont even care if it's thru re-buffed slicing, better nodes all around (whatever skills it might be), better price on crap loot, but IT HAS TO BE FIXED. I'm on the verge of giving up and going back to wherever MMO I came from, at least there you can take whatever time (reasonable at that) and get money-comfortable. Tired of trying anything and everything to stay afloat, and i'm not even level 25 yet... God forbids the speeder and training costs. I tought it was just me not being good at it, but when the 5 ppl I've converted to SWTOR start asking me how to make money because they can't get ahead on their "bills" then I know i'm not alone in this hole. Maybe if you coudn't purchase low-level ressources from NPCs selling at 10cr each.... MAYBE it would help. Oh well. Going back to work from vacantion Tuesday. If nothing happens by then, and with my play time shrinking to 1/15th of what it has been in the last week... No more time to fool around trying skills! Sad prospect. If you read all of this, kudos to you my friends. Merry Hollidays and happy new year ! -- Francois424
  9. At first, I really didn't want to come to the official forums... I mean, I really don't think the the majority, and my posts always get trashed for the most part. But this latest "Fix" leaves me no alternatives. Now I did read thru some of them and even stumbled on spreadsheets proving what took me hours to test out thouroughly. I will have to side with the people that are pointing out the nerf bat has hit too hard. I used the skill from 10pm-4am yesterday, with two companions, while aiding my friend catching-up to me. In all that time, my displayed money (inventory tab) went from 44.000 to 50'000. That's 6k profit total, for two companions, for nearly 6 hours; or 500cr/hour per companion. My Slicing Skill is a bit over 300, for the curious ones. - - - - - Why I took Slicing? easy. Sometimes I like to stop levelling, and make money to gear myself. Maybe i'm just waiting for friends to catch-up to me, maybe my gear just suck and I want to get better without havnig to run flashpoints over and over (limited playtime over here). I've always love that of the other online games, be it FF11, WoW, or others. Now I read post with ppl saying "Go level, you'll make money" , yeah but that's not how I like playing all the time... Like I said, I like something to do oither than levelling. My thoughts on the nerf : - While profit margins might have been too much before (and I'm not qualified to know if it really was, thats for Bioware and nobody elses to decide), I do feel like it's way too low now. Still possible to make money, my test has shown it; but woudn't 5k/hour, per companion be better ? - If you only dont want level 15's doing high profits (and I think that's more the source of the problem you had), then just put back slicing to some(if not all) of it's former glory, but limit missions you can run by character levels. I was surprised as a level 16 that I could run level 30+ missions. Thank You.
