  1. Seems every 2nd post I read on the forums lately is complaints, so heres a thread to see how many of you enjoy the game! Please, please, no complaints, suggestions for changes, ifs or buts here, just genuine 'what i like/love about SWTOR or you are officially a troll!

I'll start with the legacy system, just the last name was cool, but the upcoming updates, really looking forward to that. Also I'm loving my new Jedi Sage, I already have a 43 Shadow which is a bit hmm, fun, but not outstanding, but my Sage, very cool. As for the game overall, way better than WoW for sure, drop rates on quests are way more bearable, storyline I can actually enjoy instead of just clicking accept on quests, also enjoying the pvp which I hated on warcraft.

Ok guys and gals, what do you enjoy about the game?

The sound of quitting, and putting this fiasco behind me forever.

  2. For purely cosmetic stuff, sure, why not. You want a wookie pet who follows you around and does absolutely nothing but occasioanlly cough up a furball, if you wanna pay for it then go right ahead.

The minute it impacts on gameplay however, forget it. Speeders for RL cash instead of ingame credits, no thanks. Stat gear, weapons, transport, absolutely not. Not even consumables. Everyone should have a level playing field. It shouldn't be whoever has the deepest pockets. By all means create a game around that model, but not adding it to a game that doesn't

Agreed. They should stop offering CEs with items, too.

  3. lol, you haven't played the Agent story yet then.

Mind you, I KNOW anything you would have written would have been much worse than this "amateurish" outing you so claim. People who make claims like that always have so much arrogance and entitlement that they feel as though they have the expertise to make those claims./

Wow, that's pretty stupid. You know very little; I would say that you know even less about what makes a good story or who is capable of writing them. Just so you KNOW, effective criticism doesn't require that the critic be capable of creating something better. Also, it's not arrogance or a sense of entitlement that prompts anyone to say these stories suck (which they do); it's the ability to compare. Read more stories.

  4. I'm more confused by the following:

SWG was a failure. Everyone understands this except the fan boys who squatted there and would have continued to do so, for all time, unless they just physically shut it down, which they did.

SWG was atrocious. I do hope the dev team here is influenced by SWG so they understand what not to do.

SWG was not a failure. It kept going for 8 years; it made money.

  5. It also had a vastly inferior subscriber base that SWTOR has blown out of the water in less than a month.

Unless a sizable number of their customers decide that not having Galaxies features is a real gamebreaker for their subscriptions I really don't think you're going to see many of these things, and some of them (the community thing) is more down to the people in the community than it is the devs.

And never, ever, ever, ever think of the forum and its attached 'polls' or 'discussion threads' to be majority opinion. The people on the forums are a vocal minority.

No, not an inferior subscriber base just a smaller one.

  6. It's actually a really bad idea.

Selling good gear for credits (unintentionally) encourages buying credits. Especially when it's very expensive.

I don't think Bioware would want people to buy credits, for obvious reasons.

Of course, there's always going to be good stuff for sale on the GTN, but that's a completely different matter and making everything BoP isn't the solution.(though it's one I wouldn't disapprove of).

I don't mind people acquiring gear because they're rich, but it's will still encourage buying credits, which in itself is a bad thing.

Selling good gear for credits also creates in-game economies. The current one can hardly be called so. I'll take the hit on gold-sellers/buyers for a functioning economy (and no, gold sellers and buyers don't actually ruin the economy of the game).

  7. What's wrong with that? The game was advertised as being for all play styles, and as a solo player who's missing out on a fair bit of story, I'd really like it if there was a way to go through these things with companions instead, even if it's for scaled down rewards or the like.

Hmmm. I understand the perspective, but in all truth, there is very little that requires a group, and entirely too much that doesn't. I'm hoping that Bioware manages to keep on pace with the warzones, operations, and flash points rather than spending resources further isolating players.

  8. Someone obviously didn't watch or didn't pay attention to the guild summit.

Target of Target: Getting put in.

    Readycheck: Getting put in.

Combat log: Personal combat log including test dummies on your starship.

LFG tools: cross server warzones, and single server LFG getting put in.

Macros: sure, they talked about that, but didn't give a definitive answer, so i'll give you this one, but tbh, you don't NEED macros, sure it helps but its not like AMIGAWD game is unplayable.

Addons: I highly doubt this will be permanent, but for now, you win. It's not like its a necessity either, addon's made wow stupid easy raiding. who cares about actually watching for a mechanic wait for the big bright text to tell you, and stuff like healbot and grid made healing so faceroll.

UI customization: yep, this is coming down the line too!

Damn, your 2/7 of there buddy, talk about a bad percentage. And those 2 aren't game breaking, and in the end imho, it just makes the game be dumb down.

    Just my 2 cents.

    edit: typo

Ah cool, so they are fixing problems and bringing the game out of beta. Thanks for detailing that.

  9. i received a warning from bioware for my now deleted post in which i basically said that people were childish and immature for whining and claiming to be long time players in a game that was released in 3 months ago.

I take back everything i said. Apparently whining is encouraged (as that post remains) but calling out the absurdity of it are not.

    Bioware carry on smartly.

    "Dear Drkstrider,

You have received a warning at STAR WARS: The Old Republic.

    Reason:

    -------

    Rude, Disrespectful Comments"

Well, I replied to your ridiculous post and they deleted that too, so I guess you're right. They don't want people calling out absurdity.

  10. Let alone that class locked gear is still not a guarantee as another of the class type can still roll on it, claiming "I may DS dps/heal/tank into tank/dps/healer role and may need it (which is a reason against the DS system)/my companion can use it".

We already have those people automatically needing for their companions, add in X-server and there is No Accountability for such actions, Hence the decimation of a Community that can self police itself to a degree.

Do you have a chance to get the gear from the roll? Yes. Case f'ing closed.

  11. Nope. You are not alone. I'm with ya. The game is going to keep getting better and it's just driving the forum troll pantwetter patrol absolutely nuts.

Unfortunately, the bulk of the messiah patch is given over to boring, not-even-close to essential garbage. There are some fine things to be added, including new play content (warzone, flashpoint) but in my opinion the legacy system is worthless, and worse, it is an obfuscation that Bioware hopes will keep people from criticizing many of the still extant, real problems in the game.

Yes, I'm happy that some issues are going to be addressed, but sadly, many of the fixes are proving too little, too late as far as I am concerned.

  12. Also I'd like to add to my post...

    '[Panel Discussion] Roleplaying (4:30PM CST)"

Thank you Bioware, for giving RP guilds and Roleplay in general it's own panel, and a long overdue voice in an MMO.

    Thank you.

    Back to the patch....

Look I've been playing MMOs for a really long time, I just try hard not let all that time jade me to the overall experience.

There is just something about SW:TOR that makes me feel a sense of awe, and excitement, yes it's not a sandbox, or a very open world, but it's the story, and the Star Wars, that make me just love this game to bits.

    I hope 1.2 isn't too far away. ^_^

Goddamn, it's like religious ecstasy . . . I wish the game made me happy like that. Truly.

  13. I barely post but since most people who post are here to complain about things, I'll do the same.

    My current state right now

I am playing a Star Wars game and one thing that was iconic to the franchise is definitely the color of crystals tied to the alignment of its user.

Whether it is actually a restriction in the lore of Star Wars or not, doesn't matter.

What matters is that it is how it is, and all haters have now managed to make Bioware change it.

Couldn't you just go along with it ? It's been like this for YEARS in Star Wars and just because some kids don't like it "oh noes y me no haz red lightsaber???", Bioware is changing something iconic to the serie.

Now, what is done is done and I am not going to go on a crusade like some of you did to change it back.

Bioware, you were doing a great job and are still doing the great job. I will likely continue to play this game. However, please don't cave in to whatever stupid requests your community has. You are the developer, with experience in studying, designing and developing games. I trust your judgment and the community should as well.

They should just cave into your stupid request not cave, right?

  14. Just because it is a survey, doesn't mean the data is good or represents "actual numbers."

Your survey suffers from two critical flaws, the first of which I have pointed out before:

    1. Selection bias: In order to represent actual numbers, you need to do a random survey. You cannot rely on volunteers, especially when it comes to surveys on controversial topics.

    2. Unless I am missing something, at level 50 you are capping your input at 100. If there are 100 Level 50 players on, the number will show as 100. If there are 200 players on, it will show as 100. If there are 500 players on, it will show as 100. This is a serious issue, since about half of your data points report 100 players for Level 50!

I appreciate your attempt at collecting data, but garbage in = garbage out.

Thanks for the lesson. Sanctimonious ******e.

  15. Hey, any feature of the game you see that bothers you, you just go ahead and ignore that too, okay?

He isn't saying this is game breaking, he is saying it is annoying. You are right, it is of very low priority. Does that mean it should never be changed?

How do you choose to not accidentally click something? That is an impossibility. You can't consciously choose to not do something that you don't consciously control. It's like saying "Well, just don't have a car accident." It's all fine and well to say that, but since it is an accident, by definition it is not something that you consciously control.

    Reasoning? Nope.

Btw, I wouldn't have made such a snarky post if you could have seen your way clear to posting a polite response as opposed to contrite dribble you spewed forth.

You might want to consult a dictionary and get a handle on those two words.

Anyhow, I agree; this is low priority, but something that might be addressed. It does kind of suck to use up a consumable on accident.

  16. Read a bit about the chiss. Then tell me chiss on Rep side make any sense. And Purebloods are the elite of the Empire, most of them force sensitive and sent to the acadamies. The dark side is bred into their bones. The only known Pureblood to become a Jedi (padawan) is Praven, and he already was an outsider in his own society for the way he thought and acted.

So you're saying it all works out?

  17. Research it first before posting but thank you for admitting you are ignorant of how this works.

It works like this. With the inclusion of family trees, the legacy of your parents for example would transfer to you.

Therefore, if my SI and my SW characters had a "baby" and that Bounty hunter (who was a pure blood like my SI main who leveled to 50 and unlocked purblood for all classes) was the baby. Wouldn't that mean he had a higher chance of being Force Sensitive?

What would happen if my "son" did not want to be a Sith and ran away from me and became a bounty hunter to escape me and my SI was hunting him down and searching for him across the galaxy to make him an acolyte? Interesting rp perspective.

However, to add to it, the SI's signature Force Lightning ability is now available for that Bounty Hunter "son" and now I can have it be that he uses some of his dad's inherited Force ability in his hunting skills.

Now as for game mechanics perspective, it is only available when you have a companion with you. To add to that, it is only available when you use your "Heroic Moment" ability with your companion, which is locked out every 25 minutes more-or-less. This makes it impossible in Warzones and Raids and only available for Open World PVP and questing (plus flashpoints but I doubt they are so powerful that having a companion in place of a player is more profitable).

Edit: And this signature ability is available to only the new alt, not your already level 50 toon that should have Force Lightning anyway.

If any of the above is incorrect, please point me out but I believe this is true. If so, then I see that this is the perfect, non-lore breaking implementation of such a feature.

Great post! Way to be a dick about all of it!

  18. Yes to 1.2 with a couple caveats. Legacy? Boring, pointless, time-wasting garbage. Cross-Class skills that have no impact? Ridiculous. Other cosmetic **** that doesn't help me make my character better? Fix some more bugs.

Mailboxes, Trade terminal, mute-the-droid? Good stuff all. Combat log, chat bubbles? Excellent.

Luckily, I don't have to do anything with the legacy system, so I'm pleased with the rest of the stuff.

  19. These are the types of comments that serve no good and only prove the point that this game should never cater to those who think they are better than everyone else. This isn't High School.

What is core about Star Wars is the spirit of equality and acceptance and value. It is a shame that people can't think about this before they post.

There is no equality. Acceptance of this is fine. Value is relative, yes, but most often rests in those and upon those who can provide the most of it. Darth Vader didn't bring balance to the force because he was unexceptional.

  20. I think people needs to get out of the fast food mentality. It's not your way right away and this is not McD's. Things take time. Be patient and wait for it. If you don't want to pay to wait, the unsub and come back when they release the content.

Submit your feedback and move on. There is no point trying to convince someone of your opinion. Just state it and walk away.

And yet you keep trying to do just that . . . because it's fun, isn't it? Anyhow, this game is McDonalds as far as MMOs are concerned; fast, easy, not offensive, rather sedate, and quite generally focused on the lowest common denominator. And like McDonald's, Bioware has hit upon a formula that makes a ton of money because people don't like . . . flavor.

  21. Yeah, I don't have an issue with someone being better at something than I am. I take issue when those individuals who go out of their way to make others feel insignificant and that they are worthless and don't matter as much.

Hahaha. Other are insignificant and not worth as much if they aren't as good.
