  1. Interesting read here.... I've been looking for something new on JC lately since Republic Gentlemen's random-runs have dwindled a bit lately due to an exodus back to WoW. We still have set teams that run on a schedule, and my main will be there until the doors close, but in the state of the 4.0 world, PuGs just can't clear HM Ops (and no, EV and KP do not count), so running HM Ops outside of my progression team's schedule is painful. Oh yeah... me the PeeVeePee get along real nice too (Guardian/Scoundrel - Jugg/Operative) Here is what I asked the SWTOR Guild SubReddit - hit me up if your guild is active and competent!
  2. ^this. So much of this. I was a longtime player in City of Heroes. The test server was up constantly. You could do everything from test new content for bugs, to test out theorycrafting for builds/etc without screwing up your live-character. People actually USED the test server, and reported bugs on content, and it was resolved before it went live. The fact that there is a fairly game-wide and game-breaking Ops bug right now, that made it LIVE, and we're being told it will be "months" for a fix is insanity. My raid team dissolved last week, I have been trying to patch it back together with the players we have left who haven't gone back to WoW. Announcements like this? Make it really really difficult for me to be able to convince my friends/guildmates not to cancel their subs and go play other games. And if my guild mates all leave, as predominantly a raider, I am not interested in yet again finding a new guild/raid squad, or PuG'ing EV and KP every week until I die... We need better responsiveness from the devs, from the company that we pay for a service from. I'm an ultimate BioWare Fanboy... I have been for a long time, and I have defended SWTOR from the very beginning, and I have loved my time in this game, but man....... sometimes it feels like it gets harder and harder to keep convincing people to stay, when what I really want to do, is just have fun in-game with my friends. BioWare, stop stealing my fun! (and stuff)
  3. POLL - NiM Loot Design Decision Reddit Discussion This isn't mine... but someone posted it on Reddit among the cluster-storm that occurred following this announcement.
  4. It was really great to see the devs react and respond to what the community asked for. Thanks BW. For real....
  5. Honestly? This just sounds like the OP is butthurt from being on the losing end of too many 6-0's.... Huttball: (from the classes I play) Scoundrel: decent at carrying because of scamper, self heals, evasion, etc. - can support the carrier otherwise. Plus, in the standard Huttball map, you can stealth to the endzone, and your ball carrier can run straight thru the middle and pass up to you as you unstealth... pretty much an instant score. Shadow: 12s of "can't touch me" - nuff said. - plus, same stealth tactic as above. Jugg & Vanguard: really no explanation needed here, it's obvious. I know snipers that sit and just make people's life hell from range when they get the ball.... Most classes IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY YOUR CLASS can make worthwhile contributions to Huttball/Queshball.... It's when people who don't know how to play their class, try to do things their class isn't good at, that they start to think that [insert this warzone name here] sucks.
  6. We see <DEATH> premades opposite us a lot.... We've actually pulled a few <DEATH> members into our "superqueue" when we are on our impside equivalent team to fill out 8 people when we were only 5-6 people queuing and brought them into our Teamspeak lol.
  7. Nice try with the profiling... Actually, we're all adults with wives/girlfriends/children. Several of us are active duty military, military officers, or people with actual professional careers with reasonable incomes. Some of us actually also go outside once in a while, play in bands, and have lives. I'm surprised you didn't resort to calling us gay, or some comment about our mothers, as that seems to be the mindset of most people who complain. We roll our "super queue" both impside and pubside. We typically gauge if one faction already has premades running, and if so, we PvP from the opposite faction. I got a whisper from someone standing on fleet last night, asking if I was the person who made this (and the reddit) post, to which I said yes, and he proceeded to tell me how much he enjoyed reading it and that he thinks it's "hilarious"... So, at least one lonely person on JC doesn't hate us, lord knows, maybe there's more? Have fun being bitter. "They hate us cuz they ain't us." comes to mind. Go find friends, if your personality won't entice people to play with you, I'm sure you could bribe them with credits? Or maybe Twi'leks and Spice? One last thing BTW - We aren't <Working as Intended> so don't erroneously send our hate their way... We try very hard at what we do, and we deserve our due grief from folks who are butthurt. Don't rob of us the fruits of our labor by lavishing our due rewards on another.
  8. I also play with a guild on Jung Ma... we are toying with doing this same idea, with an all mercenary team actually. Look me up on Jung Ma: character name: Apostrophe
  9. It doesn't likely make sense for 7 to go to the 1, when the 1 could come to the 7... Come to Jedi Covenant (Plus, I'd miss my 19ms server ping too much)
  10. It's a balancing act. We can't do it too much... We switched to impside last night, because there was another guild running a pub premade that was stomping imp pugs, so we decided to level the playing field. (I was on 3 matches on another imp toon before my group logged on, and was on the receiving end of some really heavy handed poundings.) We queued impside (6 of us), and the matches against the other guild premade were close. They were fun, and neither side was roflstomping the other. I wonder... And maybe this already happens..... Without having a separate group queue, could there a priority system? I.e. if 32 total players are in the queue, some solo and some queuing together... What if the matchmaking system tried to put groups against each other, but if it couldn't it would revert to putting then against solo?
  11. Rules are rules. Has to be a shadow or scoundrel... Amidst other things.
  12. We've been queuing tonight against another guild's premade, and they've been making us work for it.... Hating us the whole time, but the matches have been close. (We aren't are full 7 either tonight.)
  13. Congratulations on suggesting that any guild that has a "PvP Night" be banned. /slowclap
  14. I've talked with the guy who's recording the video, and he says he mostly mouse-turns... isn't sure why people think it's keyboard. (I know he uses a mix of keybinds/clicking... works for him so far, tho he's been mostly a PvE player - granted a darn good one... was #1 on the powertech leaderboards for a while and in the top 5 for scoundrel/operative dps.) #dunno it's not me in the vantagepoint in the video... I'm the token scoundrel of the group.
  15. They are "Twi'lek Dancers" a la Return of the Jedi, not just skimpyness for skimpyness's sake There's some measure of truth to the mantra of: "If I'm going to play this game, staring at my character's rear end for hours at a time, it's at least going to be a decent view."
  16. Check through the posted videos of the YouTube user who posted the one I linked. He's been putting a bunch up. Ceremonial Guard Belt
  17. #anticipation Correct so far.... GO ON Not really. I/we fully EXPECTED to get grief, but frankly, anyone who's ever played in PvP knows that regardless of anything else, you are going to grief for the following reasons: You are too good and therefore must be hacking. The other team doesn't understand the capabilities of what your class can do, therefore you must be hacking. You are rolling in a premade against pugs, so you are a [insert homosexual reference here]. You are queuing solo against a premade, which was your choice, so **** and quit whining. You're bad. Your team won. Your team lost. You got 1v1'd. You got 2v1'd. You got Xv1'd (not typing the rest out, but you get the point.) You 2 (or more) v1'd another player, which means you obviously couldn't take them 1v1. You got stealthcapped. You stealthcapped someone else, and must have been hacking. You grabbed the huttball, used a CC-immunity and run to score - hacker. You grabbed the huttball, run to score with full resolve, and you're hacking because someone tried to stun you and couldn't. You grabbed the huttball and got chain-stunned and couldn't pass. You grabbed the huttball. You didn't grab the huttball. You don't have enough expertise, and therefore are a scrub. You have full expertise, and the other team whines because gear > skill. You are running an almost full "ops" team of FoTM classes and facerolling. Point? I don't wonder why we are getting grief. As a matter of fact, I'm surprised we haven't gotten MORE than what we've gotten. I wouldn't say it's a high horse, so much as reminding people, this is not a completely unique idea, it's not in any way shape or form difficult to accomplish/setup, and that it MIGHT just possibly make PvP fun in a different way if more people were thinking this way. Yeah, replace a full team that can stealth.... with a full team that can self-heal, off-heal, and drop craploads of AoE? Same sh*t, different toilet. Obviously, since I asked the question, I don't.
  18. Like I said... maybe we hit 60 and get stomped. Maybe that gives us motivation to learn how to play in ranked effectively. Maybe we say "Heh.. that was fun while it lasted..." and move on to something else. I highly doubt that we'd re-roll and go back to the lowbie-mids bracket. If we did do that, I would be first in line to call us ***holes, because that's exactly what it would be. We will hit 60 and either compete, learn how to compete, or go back to PvE.
  19. Because of the breakdown of our server-faction-pop - it's VERY rare for us to end up on opposite teams. We end up in the same warzone on the same team easily 95% of the time, with the exceptions typically being when we are tossed on opposite sides of a 4v4 arena - those are FUN when it happens too. I would love nothing more than for other guilds/players to start doing the same thing. It would make for some very interesting warzones, that's for sure. Oh this happens constantly. The most frequent insult, typically has to do with questioning our sexual orientation, which is funny in and of itself. If/when that happens? We will just have to grow some thick skin and LTP. Oh there are a great many /popcorn moments.
  20. So.. mini-backstory: about 2 weeks ago, a bunch of people in my guild (Jedi Covenant server) got bored, and we decided to all create new toons, purely for pvp. We picked a class, actually 6 people are shadows, and I am the lone scoundrel. (We are still looking for our 8th.) We leveled up to 26, which takes about an hour and a half-ish with 12x exp... and off to the warzone queue we went. Our plan is to stay in the lowbie bracket until we hit 30, then hop back to story/class quests to 40-ish, and then pvp the rest of the way to 60, then at 60 we will have to decide what to do about ranked. Truth is, we might actually suck at PvP, and we only facerolling because we are grouping in regs... But we will find out when we get there. A few things to note: 1- Yes. I understand that especially in lowbie pvp, shadows are OP. (Although, at low levels, so are Snipers/Slingers, and a slew of other classes.) 2- Yes. I understand that we are 7 people who are queuing into lowbie pvp, that can all stealth, and coordinate over voicechat. 3- No. We aren't doing anything that violates the ToS or the Code of Conduct. (I've read them backwards and forwards.) 4- No. We are not actually one person who's multiboxing 7 characters. (That's the most common question we get.) 5- No. We haven't been beaten yet. (But we would love for someone/someone's to try.) We have gotten some very polarizing views from the community, from people who end up backfilling our teams, to people we are playing against, to two very stark viewpoints from Reddit: The first being "You guys are ***holes." and the second being "That was hysterical, please more people do this." So.... If you're on Jedi Covenant and want to come try to beat us, or you're on another server and want to roll toons on Jedi Covenant (like I said, it only takes a hot minute to get up to a competitive level in the lowbie bracket - or even the mids bracket) - by all means..... come and play. Beat us. Beat us at our own game.... FInd a better way than what we are doing, and beat us that way. Or do you enjoy this, and want to come try to beat us?
