  1. Great News! I applaud the Dev's for listening to everyone's feedback. I will reserve my opinion on the changes after today's patch, but if all goes well, I don't see them making anything worse at this point. I think some folks here have a distinct impression that the Dev's knew about the op'd Companions prior to releasing the the 4.0xx patches, and are arguing it may have been intentional to attract mew players, a sort of bate and switch if you will. If it was, I think it may of had adverse effects that weren't intentional with their goals, and have now caused those goals to be refined. I don't know nor is it relevant at this point. What I would like to address is the elephant in the room if you will. I see a lot of emphasis being place on the words "Group Content". Let me first say what I know a lot of people have been dealing with for a while now in many MMO"s. Grouping with PUG's aka (Pick Up Groups) has always been in most cases a bad experience for many of the casual players and non - guilded players. I believe this lead to the huge appeal of the OP'd Companions from patch 4.0. Example: Lone player "JOE" queue's up for a group to do a heroic. The group finder get's him a group and they enter the instance. First thing that happens is the Tank or a over zealous Dps'er runs off and starts pulling multiple mobs with no warning, "Zerging" their way through the mission with no chat comment, just an innate sense of I got to get this done as fast as possible or else the world is going to end. Now "JOE" can't keep up, so he gets booted from the group and labeled a "Noob". This is neither enjoyable for player "Joe", nor does it it any way promote a sense of positive Social behavior, other then bad manors and rudeness. Enter the OP'D companions: Now "JOE" doesn't have to deal with John T "Zerger"! I can do these Missions solo "Even on Hard Mode". Take my time and not feel the anxiety of being rushed through it or kicked from the group for being a "noob". Now the game has taken on a whole new dimension for me to the point of being extremely enjoyable, without all the tension added to it because of the above mentioned factors.Hence the long waiting times in queue waiting to start these missions has become a non-issue now that they can be done solo/w companion. This makes it easier for people that don't have hours to play the game, to have a maximum quality experience for the short time they're able to play the game, and that promotes a healthy server population. After all, games are suppose to give us an outlet to blow off the stress of life's daily grind, not add to it. I'm not suggesting that the game should sway towards one type of play style to another, but somewhere in-between. People should not give up on the social elements the game either. Join a guild, even if you only play 5 hours a week, you still need help doing Op's and FP's, and it's the end game for all of us to promote the character you play to a higher status in gear and achievement. Not to mention making new fiends to enjoy the game with you. So in conclusion, I think it was what triggered such and overwhelming appeal to patch 4.0 and why there was such an outcry when it was taken away. Players were devolved back to the same ol' queues in group finder, the same ol' zerging through Heroic missions, and business as usual in the end game. Just my opinion here, that a lot of other people share I'm sure. I believe this is why this went so right at first, and then so wrong afterwards. I'm glad there has been a compromise, and that we are going to get something somewhere in the middle to make the game game more casual player friendly, and give more of a challenge to those that enjoy their gaming experience that way. 2. I haven't made a decision on keeping my Sub going or not atm, Because I haven't been able to get the game to work properly yet. After the download and patch problems I was finally able to get the game to re-download it's self entirely, but found once I entered the game I was moving very slowly, even with sprint active, as well as when I was on a Speederbike. I noticed several others on the fleet station that seemed to be suffering the same effects. That being said here's my take on it. I played this game in Beta, did the whole pre-order deal as well as playing on the test server. I came back because I had heard the fanfare about this game while I was playing another MMO (DP's, it's dead now) I found I liked the changes to the game and was very happy playing it (Pre 4.xx) After getting used to the game again I joined a very awesome guild and was pleased all around. Shadows of Revon comes along and I forked out the $20 for it and all is right with the MMO world....And then! POW! Right off the bat Crafting takes a huge down grade, you can't make any gear over lvl 56 (Augments the exception). No more modded gear recipes, we now call it Adaptive Gear and allow all types to wear it, even a Tank can wear a skirt now, ok so be it. Companions become very useful in the daily grind of the end game, I knew it was all too good to be true. Small annoying bugs start popping up (not game breakers, just annoying) but hey that's to be expected as with any new expansion. Now 4.02 and the game becomes the pariah of the universe in 24 hour. I guess what I am trying to say is that not all people who play this game enjoy the added stress of a "Better Challenge". Games are meant to be a way to release the stress of life for a lot of us. I'm 55 yo and disabled. I play this game with many others that are in the same situation as me. We have no interest in our accomplishments in a game to define us, that is what we do in the real world. None of the players in an MMO are so called "Professionals" Unless you're getting paid to play, that's what defines a Professional, it's a game, stop touting off like it's a life time achievement of deeds of heroism for pete sakes. Try to understand your PoV is not the only one that counts, unless your the one paying for everyone Else's sub fee's, then your opinion carries more weight. BW is going to have to deal with this soon , or the games population is going to take a more then mediocre fall, and will most likely cause a cascading effect in the next few weeks or even days. I know people on both sides of this issue have strong feelings, but casting insults back and forth are not going to get any of these issue fixed for either sides interests. I've seen a lot of constructive feedback from those with cooler heads who offer solutions to this issue, and they're the ones people should be paying attention to, not the ones who feel anger towards each other to a non - constructive end. I hope this gets ironed out soon. But if not! I came here looking for something to play, and I can leave doing the same thing. Just seems a shame with the up-comming new Movie out in Dec, that they would have all this bad press coming out of the Game with it's namesake, not to mention the New Star War's Battlefront game release...Hmmm wonder if that has anything to do with it? Peace Phalsadoom
  3. After reading through a few pages on this thread, I am getting an impression of a split in everyone's opinion on Leveling Sync. Already it has raised a question of exploitation from botters and leaves loophole's for other exploits. I for one am not a big fan of Leveling Sync, or aka Level Scaling. This has been exploited in other games and for others that just want to enjoy the High level achieved and make it easier to harvest crafting mats and coms etc. I do understand the appeal of going back to lower lvl content and actually being able to earn xp from it, but if you're at max lvl why would it matter? for Legacy xp? do we really get that much more from lvl sync'ing? I would make a suggestion here so that we can cater to all opinions on this matter (not that it will change anyone's mind), but what if we were given a choice to toggle this on and off in our preferences? Then those that want it, can toggle it on, and those that do not, can turn it off, or use it for situational purposes. Also another option might be a mentoring systems for helping lower level PC's with quests by max level characters, which uses lvl scaling to accomplish the same thing that lvl sync would do. Just tossing out some ideas here, that could be alternatives to the purposed system IMHO Peace Phalsadoom
  4. Simple answer is "Diminished Returns" Make kill the same player over diminish down to valor awarded and they will eventually stop camping the Taxi areas
  5. Corellian Run should be added as well, queues in the am and 40mins plus during prime time. Our guild would gladly transfer to a lower pop server if offered.

  7. Personally, I would like more customization for the UI , but the Mods can go fly a kite. Mods make friends into elitist that begin shunning their friends because his rotation is improper or She has terrible DPS so don't invite them to raids. Mods are for Number crunching nerd-herders who only care about what they can accumulate in epicness, and expect pure perfection from those they surround themselves with, or else. I've played MMO's for a very long time, and watched this go on time after time, and lost friends because of it. The damn game is a means to entertain us and give us social networking of others with like interests. Hence the reason it's called an MMO. I don't need a meter to tell me if my DPS is high enough. If the mob dies and I complete the mission it's what wanted to do. these meters are for only one thing...Bragging rights! You can spin it anyway you want it, present facts that my dps is high now because of them, but in the end it's just proof for bragging. Make the UI customizable, but leave the Mods in WoW, we don't need them in SWtor. Peace all Doom
  8. Unfortunately, By making things a bit over priced, Bioware has invited the spammers in early. It's inevitable that they will come to this game, just like every other MMO out there. But charging 40K credits for a riding skill @ lvl 25 either means people are going to have to grind out the money and get it at maybe level 26 or 27, or start saving right out of the gate and forgo any gear upgrades or crafting (maybe take Slicing to help) or buy it. Progressive respec costs that can accumulate in the 10's of thousands in credit, and we haven't got to end game yet. Get used to it, no mmo out there has been able to get rid of them, and I doubt BW will fare any better without wiping out half their client base in the process. Unless they offer it themselves and cut out the middle man with micro transactions that under cut the farmers prices. we will be seeing more and more of them in the very near future. Peace all Doom
