  1. Since you were too lazy to use the search function, I'll repost:
  2. You've obviously never seen two Operatives/Scoundrels open on the same target. Pretty much 100-0 in their opening knockdown.
  3. It seems to me that both classes are the same. 5 heat/sec is 5% resource regen. .6 ammo/sec is also 5% ammo regen. The only difference is that some abilities take slightly more resources as a trooper due to ammo not dividing evenly (16.67% of total resources for 2 ammo abilites, as opposed to 16% for BH).
  4. I can't count the number of times where I'm trying to peel for someone who is sitting at 15% health, only to have them face tank the enemy and die. When you get low, run away. Line of Sight. One of two things happen: the enemy keeps chasing you, and does no damage while I melt them; or, the enemy gives up and attacks me, letting you pop back up and do damage to them again. One of the main differences between a good player and a bad player is smart play. Two out of three maps consist of defending nodes. Dead players can't defend nodes. I'm pretty sure the smart thing to do is stay alive. P.S. Don't knock running away. Sure, the "manly" thing to do is to sit there and take it. Then again, being brave got you killed. Now, I'm sitting on your node while your girlfriend is making me a sandwich.
  5. HIB only refreshes one of the stacks. Also, you can only get 2 stacks at once - 1 from Ion Pulse, 1 from Hammer Shot. Even if you Ion Pulse again, and Hammer Shot again, only one of the stacks will refresh. Might very well just be a icon bug (ie you see two icons, but only one is actually doing damage).
  6. Plasma DOES stack. If you apply Plasma Cell with Ion Pulse, then use Hammer Shot, you'll get a second stack of Plasma Cell while also refreshing the first stack.
  7. Do you even read my posts before posting? My point was that without Plasma Cell, you don't have a free, spammable, reliable source of burn effect. Incendiary Round will always be dispelled by a competent team, leaving you with reduced damage and reduced ammo regen. Also, Ion Overload does NOT do more damage than Plasma Cell. But who I am I kidding. You've never actually tested anything, and will blindly spew nonsense over and over.
  8. Best suggestion I've heard. Honestly, everyone knew this was going to happen. I was Empire all through Beta, and had my heart set on a BH. When they assigned pre-launch guilds, everyone realized that Empire was outnumbering Republic 3 to 1 on EVERY server. I immediately found the biggest, most organized Republic PvP guild, and never looked back. If you don't like Warzone Queues, if you don't like Huttball all day, if you know what's good for you: reroll Republic.
  9. Door-Hinge Counterweight would be a great name for a band!
  10. I don't take screenshots when I queue up with a premade, since your results are more down to your team (ie pocket healer) than you. Yes my screenshot was a loss. However, it showed a game of all pugs (us) vs. a full 4 man premade with 1 Sorc DPS healbotted by 3 (yes THREE) battlemaster geared healers. It showed that Assault Spec Vanguards hadve enough survivability to go toe to toe with a chain casting Sorc, do significant damage (more than the Sorc), and do enough spike damage to kill him even through 3 healers spam healing him.
  11. That might actually work, since HEC buffs both your dots. However, heat management isn't really an issue even with full Assault Spec. You apply a 6 second dot with Ion Pulse. When you use hammer shot, you apply a new instance of the 6 second dot, while also refreshing the duration of the original dot. Thus, Hammer Shot isn't as big of a DPS loss as everyone thinks.
  12. One of the few Vanguard PvP movies that actually shows good play. I actually learned a few things, which was a pleasant surprise. WTB more vids
  13. You guys are correct. All tech abilities are in fact labeled "SpellDamage: SpellType=>Tech."
  14. You could accomplish the same thing by strafing behind them and staying there. No need to move if they aren't moving. I do agree with your last statement though. Kiting a Knight/Warrior is very bad if they have charge up. @ Sirsparhawk: The dot from Ion Cell is NOT a burn effect. You lose ammo regen via HIB, you lose extra damage on burn targets. Also, Ion Cell dot is cleansable, and it is not spammable (applying via Hammer Shot is not reliable when you NEED to HIB).
  15. Where are you getting your information from? All the datamined info I've found say that HIB is tech.
  16. HIB is considered Tech, so it cannot be shielded.
  17. As far as I know, they stack additively. HIB usually hits for around the same amount on Heavy Armor and Light Armor.
  18. You want full Combat Tech gear as an Assault Vanguard. The only other set bonus I would consider is 2-piece Combat Medic for increased duration on Reactive Shield. However, all Champion Combat Medic pieces have alacrity, which is worthless for Vanguards. P.S. I would suggest running with full Combat Tech gear even as Shield Spec. Most attacks in PvP can't be shielded/defended, so that's just a waste of stats. Extra stamina is nice, but you'll still have 16k+ in full Champion Combat Tech, with the bonus of hitting super hard, and having Stockstrike crit nearly every time.
  19. The "giant fireball" is a dot that gets cleansed off by competent players. Without plasma cell, he doesn't have a spammable burn effect that costs no resources. Against competent players, his ability to output meaningful damage would be crippled. Also, a piece of advice. If you are in melee range, stay in melee range. If you want to kite, then strafe out. Going into melee range, then S-keying over and over doesn't make your attacks hit any harder.
  20. I made sweeping generalizations about you just like you made sweeping generalizations about me. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it's flaming? Good logic. On topic: the hybrid spec I've linked is the highest damage of any Vanguard Spec. What you failed to consider in your napkin math is that extra ammo means extra Ion Pulse which leads to more ammo which leads to more Ion Pulse. The auto crit on HIB is just icing on the cake. Regarding your spec: my point was that you don't even do as much damage as a full Assault Vanguard, let alone a Tactics/Assault hybrid. You managed to skip good talents just to pick up sub-par ones. There is no need to compare specs side by side. Since there are no damage meters, you don't actually know how much of your damage actually comes from each attack over the course of a fight. Thus, all the +% talents you picked up could very well amount to a miniscule amount of damage. What I tried to offer with my first post was what I've seen actually playing the spec. Instead of being constructive, you immediately resorted to: If I don't agree with you, I obviously either haven't played the spec, or am probably doing it wrong. Very constructive. Next time, take your own advice.
  21. You already started a thread about this. Is your idea really that amazing that you feel the need to spam the forums?
  22. How do you deal with people cleansing off your Incendiary Round? The dot from Ion Cell doesn't count as a burn effect, so HIB no longer refunds ammo and you lose 9% damage on most of your abilities. You also lose the ability to apply on demand snares while bursting, since saving your Stock Strike to slow them when they sprint or trying to use Hammer Shot to apply the slow is extremely bad. The ability to guard isn't that amazing since you don't have the damage mitigation or the HP of a real tank. Good teams will send one guy to lock down your healer so he never casts, while everyone else dumps massive damage on you. The fact that you are guarding means that you can't be guarded, so you become a very easy target to focus down.
  23. If you actually read my post, you would have noticed I said that you only apply Gut when you've already established your rotation and procced free Stock Strike + HIB. You hit abilities as they proc for maximum efficiency. Try wrapping you mind around NOT hitting an ability as soon as it comes off of cd. So, you gave up one of the best scaling abilities in the game (Assault Plastique) and 30% extra damage on your dots during execute phase to buff your crit chance? What's laughable is that you don't even put points into Adrenaline Fueled, which means all that extra crit (6% lol) has absolutely no synergy with your spec. What you don't seem to comprehend is that Gut is only used when you have the extra ammo to apply it. Just because a button is there doesn't mean you should press it. What a free stock strike means is that you can Ion Pulse more, which means you can proc HIB more, which regenerates more ammo, which allows you to Ion Pulse more. Just because you can't comprehend talent synergy doesn't mean it doesn't do way more damage than that horrible spec you linked. Try actually playing the specs once in a while, instead of making bad assumptions via faulty theory crafting.
