Granted we choose to give up on capping center after some time. (I know this will likely not be counted for that reason, but all other top dps screenshots come from WZs that ran the max duration, or close to that.) We were curious to see how long a Novare cost would run in a stalemate state. We had no intention of farming the players on the other side. (25 mins btw) I give the guys we were against huge props, none of them complained in say chat, and never once did they give up. This was certainly one of the matches where I had the most fun in a long time.
  5. I have been doing many 1v1 battles on the PTS with a guild mate and lots of random people who have been dueling me. My guild mate was on his Gunslinger, Shadow & Guardian, he tried several specs for each one of those classes. Most duels I would win, but barley. And I am competent to say my guild mate is really good at pvp with most classes. I have not done many warzones on the PTS, as the last time I was on the PTS people were still exploiting bolster. Hold the line is amazing; being a Assault spec & Shield spec vanguard I have never really had the chance to even use hold the line since the game has launched. Now that all Troopers have it, I love hold the line. The new adrenaline rush is not as amazing as I thought it was going to be, but I defiantly welcome it over what it used to be. Adrenaline rush really helps when you get into those death matches 1v1 on the sidelines, but when your being focused it will do no good at all. Shoulder cannon simply put is a huge number boost for us; It is pre loadable before the fight, you can deal out the dammage all at once, or over time, you can even fire it when you are fully CCED, its complearly separate cooldown and ignores gcd, only has a 1 second ICD Tactics and Assault spec can hold their own 1v1 amazingly well. I know when we get into the fray of several shooting at us we will MELT the fastest. This patch will make the game overall much more bursty in nature. But that is part of it all, good healers and tanks are your friends. Or if you don't like being squishy, go into the tank tree. I have not tested the tank tree on the PTS yet, but it has some juicy looking new features.

  8. OK, so I filled this out... I am a bit surprised by what it wants me to do... I left the game about 5 months ago, recently came back. My tank suit was fairly inline at the time I left, but I thought I had put too much focus on HP over defense.Half of my augments are just AIM/Endurance. The Min/Maxer inside me is never happy, I had always assumed I should remove the Endurance augments, and pick pure defensive stat augments. My line of thinking is It does not matter how big my health pool is in long boss fights, I need to make the overall amount of healing per second that I need lower. Sorry, I have a hard time accepting this would help me, whats your thoughts? I am in full campaign now, working on the new level of gear. We cleared the newer raid, and killed Toth/Zorn on Nightmare mode tonight. But Its a struggle, and I feel like I can optimize my tank suit quite a bit more. I have like ~200 Black hole comms, Im saving up for the implant I guess... but some people tell me new higher endurance armoring are now available for purchase. So I may hold off on spending those until I get a few new pieces of armor, and then fill in the armoring in the drops that I do not get soon.
  9. My loss of Burst damage on Stock Strike is sad, but the free explosive surge is frigging sweet. To those Shield Spec Vanguards that know a full length Voidstar where you spam explosive surge = 600K+ damage So If I can spam explosive surge more... YAY!
  10. Even if this is true, does it matter? It fixes the population issues at the same time as being something exciting and new, and avoids tons of bad PR.

  12. As a Main Tank Vanguard in a group that is 4/4 in Hard Mode EC, Yes, Hell yes go with the Vanguard As said above, we are VERY gear dependent opposed to other tank classes. We are not as good at taking big burst damage, but we excel at lengthy fights with consistent damage being done.
  13. You have a good point, Its interesting that we are pretty much the only ones that I know of (Powertech & Vanguard) that will show 0 healing at the end of a warzone. From beta changes, to med pack changes, to shock force water... Bioware has gone out of its way to make sure Healing does not count for us. Most every other person will usually show 25-90k worth of healing, regardless of spec at the end of a warzone, just from emergency self heals. In the end, It doesn't bug me too much, lets be honest Vanguards get a toun of medals as it is. Regardless of if I actually do well or not (or I stand and defend a point most of the match) I will come out of 95% of warzones with the most medals.... Which I personally believe the entire medal system is flawed, I await the revamped system in 1.2 to see if the medals we earn better reflect effort.

  16. It all depends, I still keep the aggro and deal the damage. I'm in a Tank/DPS Hybrid spec, during HM Flashpoints & Ops my role is ever changing. Depending on the fight/boss I change my armor set for DPS or Tank. I usually keep guard up on my medics. If you have plasma cell spec Vanguard, then yes, they could use a guard Ion Cell Hybrid specs typically have fairly good survivability.
  17. I tend to use Explosive Surge more often, as Its way faster to get off then the stealth scan. I also don't have the points invested in the root on for stealth scan. I typically hit my Explosive surge, I will then see a ghosted enemy running away, I immediately toss IR on them, and start unloading. I have the points invested in the Assault tree that add +1 to "Stealth Detection" & Add 2% defense chance. Yes the very vague +1 to a non theory crafted stat actually seems to help me quite a bit. I also use our area root right after if explosive surge does not get them.
  18. Yes If you get your gear up, and get into a good spec, Vanguard is VERY good in pvp. We may not post the biggest damage numbers, but if your like me and like to Roam around in warzones looking to pick off some people 1v1, (To keep the enemy team split up and weakend, I'm not on a farming mission, running solo is a form of teamwork too ) Vanguard is the way to go.

This ^ we are in the fight for the long haul, we don't have very much burst damage (some specs can) But if you choose to burst at the beginning of a long Boss fight, your screwed for ammo the rest of the fight. Troopers have to be the best Ammo/mana/energy managers in the game, because when our Ammo gets low were 4 times more in the hole than any other class! During a boss fight never let your ammo get below 60%!!! (Unless you know you can unload and kill the boss before you run out of ammo)
  21. Vanguard DPS combat/rotations/skill Is way way more fun than Commando Grav round spam! And if you get down a good spec/rotation as a Vanguard DPS spec, you can melt down any DPS Commando handily! (Intrupt grav round once and see them just break down, throw a cyro gernade once they channel it again, and just unload on them.) (I only have issues with Tanky/DPS hybrid Jedi/Sith classes right now, those are tough to kill.) IMHO Vanguard will always feel weak in PVP until you get to level 50, been this way since beta to me. As soon as I hit 50, got my last few skill points in, what a world of difference.
