  1. Actually, the "good old days" weren't like that at all. In fact, once upon a time (I was there, so I know) there was actually a code of honor around PvP and it was founded on the notion that non-consensual PvP was just being a *******. To be blunt, once upon a time, if your buddies found out you were a "PKer" (i.e., someone who deliberately seeks out and kills people who aren't PvPers) they'd whack your butt themselves and corpse camp you until you got the message. What message, you ask? Well, it was kind of simple, really, and logical if you think more than three seconds ahead of your own instant gratification: 1. Ganking on folk who have no interest in PvP gives PvP overall a black eye, which, 2. Makes it much less likely that those who are curious about PvP will ever do more than be curious about it, which, 3. Lowers the number of new PvPers you get to enjoy (i.e., "fresh meat"), and also, 4. Ensures that those who do not like PvP (i.e., the majority, check the numbers, friend) continue to insist on mechanics that prevent as much of this behavior as possible. In short, friend, your perspective is precisely the reason that World PvP has continued to become passe' AND why there are now different servers for it, AS WELL AS why there continues to be backlash and increasing strictures to segregate PvP from PvE unless you specifically opt into it. Succinctly... players who think as you seem to are the reason PvP "can't have nice things". Mind you, this comes to you from someone who began gaming life as a PvPer with UO and EQ and, by the time I got to AC, could see enough of where it was going to determine it was already largely ruined. Today, I'll duel, but you really won't see me PvPing anymore because, frankly, twitch ain't skill, being able to jump real fast in a circle ain't skill, and theorycrafting ain't skill. Skill is largely no longer an element excepting to the extent that correct use of timing, situational awareness, and knowledge of your spells and their effective use are concerned (and frankly, friend, that ain't skill either, it's just basic technique).
  2. I admit, I cannot imagine that. This is mostly because I know I can't do those unless it's a weekend and also because my guild is "the most casual guild on the server" by definition and founding... any such opportunities are slim pickings indeed. I pretty much have to acknowledge that I lack the time to do more than be casual and this means some things are out of reach. The guild (points to sig) is designed to be a place where folk like me can have a tag/home and no pressure to do more than they know they can with their work/life schedules. It works, but I admit, I do sometimes wish I could find folk to run with on weekends that are open. I'm actually considering a once a month event for folk like me who would like to experience the high end content. Used to do this fairly regularly in EQ 1 and other games... no reason why it can't work here. Thanks for reminding me of this... /tips hat
  3. I agree with the OP and those who have said it previously - PvP should be consensual, always. Additionally, in my opinion, folk who can't "have fun" unless it's without your consent... well... I can't think of a single situation under which that ought to be acceptable... can you?
  4. I didn't list the belt! (You weren't supposed to notice! Good thing my boss isn't reading here... I'll be sneaking home tomorrow to pick that up.... shhh!)
  5. Sneaking home at lunch to do dailies, staying up entirely too late to try and get the bosses when everyone else is sleeping, and generally acting like a kid again, but finally! http://db.tt/C9tEY3Oo Thanks, BioWare! Doh... Nadia can't wear it! Ah well... I'll keep it in case I rip something.
  6. I would be willing to pay more credits per mission to be able to do any of the following: - queue up more missions per companion at a time - select the mission rewards I want/prefer (up to a max of X per day to allow for not unbalancing economy) - cut return times on crafting missions Additionally, I would love to see some way of getting crafting mission upgrades via the missions themselves (as we do for schematics); if this is place, I have yet to actually find one. There's certainly room to implement this with cost/balance being managed by increased cost of the mission to avoid the economy issues previously raised. Also, said missions could result in materials that are bound to either character or legacy, further ensuring against economy imbalance. Just a thought.
  7. I have gotten three Revel customizations and finally got the Tharan one that I wanted. I would have gathered more DNA if I could get the specific ones I was interested in, but there's just no way I'm going to roll up three inquisitors... so reckon I'll be destroying two of them. (But i sure wish there were a way to trade for the ones you want; be that via a vendor or to players.) /signed
  8. I would say one thing more in relation to the boss fights for the title: Please make these bosses NOT reset on distance from the spawn point. You would not believe how ludicrous is has gotten to simply complete these guys due to both opposing faction and same faction players descending en mass to taunt the boss that you and your group have triggered "out of range" to force it to reset/de-spawn, then proceed to trigger it for themselves and put you right back on the four hour timer. Oh, I'll also mention having single players trigger the boss spawn to ensure you cannot kill it as a delaying tactic while their group speeds over to kill it. I have had this happen to my group four times in the last three days and, frankly, have now just given up on getting the "Containment Officer" title all together. A better solution would have been to have bosses for each faction located in their respective areas, or to remove the area reset for them so that other players couldn't harass you this way. I acknowledge this is more player gaming of mechanics than anything, but this is definitely the kind of thing that should be considered and planned for in future (as it really detracts from enjoyment, to say the very least).
  9. If I'm on, I'm in... Server: Mind Trick Character: Chade
  10. I am loving this event, personally; I just wish it didn't take so long to die of the plague. Well, that and it seems there are a number of folk who are using the event to prey on anyone not hyper-attentive to the presence of flagged opposing faction folk (I've had the misfortune of being ganked for mistargeting, which is entirely my own fault... but I also have had the very unpleasant experience of having a flagged Empire group of the guild "Dark Skyes" deliberately run into one of my AoE attacks to flag me, then proceed to gang-bang me and then, corpse camp me to force me to leave the area/return to medical center). That bit of ugliness aside, it has been quite a lot of fun. I just hope I can get enough time to finish out the containment outfit before the event ends.... my play time is constrained by work. (Damn all this real life, interfering with my fun!)
  11. Wickedly funny; that has to be the most trusting fellow in the galaxy.
  12. Just checked in to see how 1.2 looked and felt and, frankly, I am re-engaged. I like the current legacy offerings and can see the trajectory along which they're moving and it is a good one. It pleased me greatly (understatement alert!) to see aim-based companions get those moddable, aim-based weapons. All in all, really quite impressive. Thank you. While I haven't the time to commit to "hard modes" and ops, what I see available looks interesting. I am hopeful there will someday a progression path for solo or solo + companion players; it would be a true shame to feel as if I might never have thinner slices of that kind of content so I, too, could enjoy that perspective in gaming again. In the meanwhile, I now have a motivation to level up a few alternate characters, so thank you for that, too. /tips hat
  13. Wowsah, thank you, Bioware!!! My Jedi is now a Trooper.... happy panda time! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60553338/legacy-unlock-trooper.jpg (evil and very sly grin) . . . . . . . .. . . . .. . . . . .. In actuality, this is a bug; I logged out my Trooper alt and logged in my consular and this was the result.
  14. Very nice; application and initial quiz up; signature update to follow... thanks for an excellent resource!
  15. Chade of <Forceful>, Mind Trick server here; thank you for the invitation but, unfortunately, release week at work and house-buying on top of it preclude my ability to attend. I'll be sure the guild hears of this and hopefully their schedule(s) are more open than my own at the moment. (A small note - we are a very casual guild and mostly because we're all wrapped up tight in work/college/schedules that make deeper participation in gaming difficult; hopefully, the future will be kinder as this sounds like an excellent opportunity to engage and discuss.) Thank you again for thinking of us.
  16. Sorry, not sure I'm following you; so yeah... what? That's it ok and reasonable to make a last-minute change and not ensure it's made across the board? Umm, no. Thankfully, it sounds like it is going to be fixed with 1.2; we'll see.
  17. This. Oh great, shining stars of the infinite galaxies, THIS!
  18. Me? Heh. I didn't clear up a thing; I stumbled around, barked my shins on every corner, and stubbed my toe repeatedly while the other contributors actually set forth the solid information. But I'm happy to be the Gump if it means getting the information, so you're welcome, I suppose.
  19. Ah. That do make a difference, even though it still (from the sound of it) presents the window, which was the crux of the "second thought" request. Imagine if you will, someone spamming you with it throughout combat. Granted, combat moves gets rid of it, but I imagine that could still be quite an annoyance. Then again, someone with the agility/dexterity to do this would likely tear me up anyway... so maybe it is moot?
  20. As was recently pointed out to me elsewhere, the following information I am pleased to post for those who may not be aware of it... enjoy (and I think this post/thread likely can fade into the distance with patch 1.2): http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=363056#CompanionsGeneral Hurray!!! (and pass it on!)
  21. You may wish to think about the potential for abuse on this one; especially considering that pop-up windows when you ARE in PvP are lethal (rather than merely annoying like when they happen at the GTN or when you're banking, etc). Just a thought.
  22. Link, please. Nevermind, found it myself: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=363056#CompanionsGeneral As for why we're still talking about it, well, silly, no one bothered to tell us here. I dunno 'bout everyone else, but I don't have spare time to stal.... um... follow every word that drops from BioWare's mouth, and since I don't play on the PTS, I tend not to follow that forum, either.
  23. /agreed Frankly, I've given up on getting an answer.
