  1. "AOE burst" is just like, *** are you thinking... Not only do they have AOE burst, the same classes also have AOE crowd control and a ton of defensive cool downs. No, just no - AOE crowd control + AOE burst damage can only lead to one thing: OVER POWERED. Think about it people, would your supposedly experienced game designers: are not area affect abilities, by definition, the most potent abilities: like duh, they affect more than 1 person but originate from 1 person. Captain Obvious says, these abilities are going to be important as soon as there is more then 1 target. But, hey, that is NOT enough. Lets also give the same classes a ton of defensive cool downs, even when not spec'd as tanks. This is where you have insanely broken classes with excellent defenses, aoe burst AND aoe cc it's definitely too much. Unbelievable response from the so called "lead pvp designer" - monitoring the situation? REALLLY??? Any designer with one shred of comprehension of pvp would *INSTANTLY* know that a class with strong defence, strong AOE damage, that is also burst ANNNNDD AOE CC all in one package is absolutely going to be stupidly powerful and would not let it ever see the light of day. Let alone shine on for months and months - before making the brilliant decision to remove all of it's limitations, buff it more and nerf the single target specs which weren't even a problem. Oh, and lets just buff those defensive cool downs and **** it, add more, cause these classes need help. Oh and also, why not just go ahead and buff ravage/master strike too - hey, lets make it do more damage AND be uninterruptible! Just like Demtel though, that is also not enough. Let's also completely **** over anything except dps by changing expertise scaling to favour damage over everything else, cause, thats real *********** smart and community was demanding we do that. Actually, the community was urging us NOT to do that, but what do they know. WE HAS METRICS!!!!!!! Monitoring the situation - I'm not sure if I should keep laughing or cry, knowing that this guy is still the lead designer *sigh*. ps. You know, I've actually been playing since Beta and before anny of these buffs happened, good players already knew Marauders were strong and that Smash jugs were strong. That's right, they were good pre 1.2 and every change since has only improved them.
  2. Yet I login, and the game sets me to free to play. I still have 22 days on my subscription and suddenly I'm reduced to one quick bar and everything on all other quick bars is erased. I logout and back in and it remains like that. So, initially I login to play a game, then I'm spending 20 minutes fixing all my bars and go from a nice sunny disposition to *********** pissed off. Thanks so much for that, can't say it's the first time a massive bug has ****ed me over, and this isn't even the worst (1.2 screwed ALL my gear on ALL my characters). Bugs like this is why this MMO has an utterly **** reputation. It deserves it.
  3. the group finder is just a major inconvenience. Like, it prevents me joining another group while in it - why? It automatically removes me if I'm pvping - again, why? And you also cant manually invite someone if there is a free spot. It's all wrong. The whole idea is to make it EASIER to make a group, not put barriers in the way. Remove all impediments to making groups associated with it and that would be an improvement. Also, what is up with not forming a group that isn't 4 people for the 2 person flash points, Esseles and Black Talon? Any two people will do for those...
  4. yeah I notice it most when I'm levelling a new character, the game just gets more and more choppy, which is annoying while leveling, but requires a restart to pvp w/o feeling like I'm wading through quick sand.
  5. Seriously, this game has had a memory leak from day zero. It still leaks memory now and won't even close without me having to manually open task manager and kill the process. Some rather BASIC maintenance and fixing of first year programming issues would be nice thanks. It's always leaked memory, but after the latest patch, it's gotten a lot worse, to the point I have to restart periodically or it just becomes unplayable. For once, read and listen. If you don't fix these memory leaks nothing else you do will ever matter cause the game will run like ****.
  6. No, the only thing wrong with the bubble is that cancelling it triggers the effect. All cancelling it should do is exactly that, remove the buff and trigger nothing. The issue about getting "chain stunned" is an issue with resolve's craptastic implementation. Nerfing one form of stun is going to simply weaken one class unfairly. Fix the problem at it's source, resolve. I still don't understand why expertise was changed from scaling evenly to scaling unevenly. It was stupid then and it is stupid now.
  7. I've been on the PvE and PvP servers today and yesterday. Just to really highlight how bad it is on the PvP server, the fleet population yesterday was 2 people. Me and 1 other person - this is at like 8.00 am, sure, not the busiest time of the day, but you'd still expect SOME people around. It's actually even worse then when I last bothered to login and check out that server, which was like 2 months ago. Today, sure, was more people, like 30. However, this still is a population you can't do anything with. Queued for hours to get like an entire 2 warzones. Simply. Not. Worth. Bothering. At this stage, if there isn't a server merge damn fast you can just turn off the power and unplug these servers cause there will be nothing to merge. EDIT: To make matters worse, bioware deleted the toons I moved from the swiftsure, even though they said they wouldn't, and now refuses to allow me to move my characters. Yeah thanks, I'm now marooned on a dead server with no recourse. **** you very much.
  8. I think you'd find sorc/sage healers have to heal themself a lot considering they generally have a massive scope hanging over their head to help guide the fotm train to them. You know, the same people over in that other thread whining about stun bubble
  9. I agree that you should gain no benefit from manually clicking off the force armor buff, that is simply an exploit.
  10. DING DING DING! Totally this.
  11. Yes, thanks so much biofail for providing a free platform for spammers to annoy your subscribers.
  12. I do not have an MMO mouse and no I don't keybind everything so yessssss I click things. The only time this is actually a problem is when I accidentally click that stupid unlock thing. There is an option in the interface to lock the quickbars, but, the stupid unblock button (HEY ITS PART OF THE QUICKBAR IDIOTS) takes precedence. How about letting us actually do what we WANT to do and turn it OFF. Alternatively, you can go ahead and piss off even more of your customer base just by being lazy fix-nothing biofails. Oh, and FYI: I do just fine whatever role I play. Better than fine actually and yes I do mean PVP.
  13. I would generally agree that the resolve system is a bit broken. Specifically, I dislike being stunned for 12 seconds flat - at any level. EDIT: After reading a bit more of this thread, I can see a lot of old school pvpers here. Old school as in pre-wow. Personally, I thought DAOC had the best CC system. Each type of CC could be used once, then your immune to it. So you could be stunned only once, disoriented only once and rooted only once. Good play was then to use each CC in the correct order. Stunning and mezzing one guy at the same time was a preety awful play since you just made them immune to two CC's. In this game, the CC is stupid. You can be stunned repeatedly, which makes for completely mindless plays - particularly when coupled with the stupid resolve changes. And roots, jesus, root is a serious form of CC and in this game you NEVER get immunity from it. Getting chain charged as a sage/sorc by multiple sentinels/marauders is just silly. I've even noticed the talent thats supposed to make your force speed make you immune to movement impairing effects STILL does not make you immune to another force leap. So stupid. Worse then that though, is the retarded expertise changes. Why on earth would you want to increase pvp damage over healing and mitigation. Utterly ridiculous and goes against everything that was said about pvp prior to the games release. Like another guy said about time to kill - if the time to kill is too short, then it becomes completely one-sided leading to fun only had on one side. That situation won't last. If 1 side has fun and the other doesn't, you'll be left with only one side. Repeat this process as much as you like, until the population equals zero. It saddens me greatly that the designers of this game simply don't understand these basic things. Instead, they repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Now, having said all that. I am NOT some scrub who loses games repeatedly. Far from it, I win the vast majority of games I enter. That doesn't mean I still dont think the games design is poor. The design though, isn't the only problem. How about fixing the damn bugs in the game? Seriously... awful dev team is awful. Hope you lot never work in the industry again.
  14. I have been playing online games since I was around 18. I am now 41 (sadly). In that entire time, I have never, ever, seen heard or experienced a game (including free games) that have so many serious bugs that go unaddressed for so long. This current week, lvl 50 pvp on my server is actually not even possible. For the whole week, and it's still ongoing. As if that wasn't bad enough, for the entire time I have returned to the game after a long hiatus (since April, and I've been back for a couple of weeks now) there has been another pvp issue, which affects all warzones (even the lower level ones, which are the only things you can even play on my server because of ANOTHER massive bug). That is, if people queue and don't actually join, they still take up room in the warzone group. Absolutely ridiculous and makes for an extremely unenjoyable experience. I happen to know for a fact that the imperials, being well aware of the issue, are using characters with multiple accounts to deliberately cause this problem to give their alts easy wins. What has bioware done about any of these problems? Absolutely nothing - except, perhaps, shutdown threads like this one. I have news for you: shutting down threads does not fix your problems or make players unaware that they exist. We know alright, we can't even play this game because of them. This is just some of the issues bothering me right now, but that doesn't even scratch the surface of the bugs present in this game. Without a doubt, this is the worst implemented and maintained MMO in history. It has some good ideas, and I do like some things about the game or I wouldn't even be bothering to post, but dear god, the lack of urgency in fixing problems makes me reluctant to even consider touching a game developed by you people ever again. The only communication I receive is your lack of action - this makes me think bioware simply doesn't care - am I wrong? It's been almost a year and you have been only getting even slower at addressing problems. Fix the game and stop trying to hide the state it's in.

    Glitchy Wzs

People have been ************ on my server for, well, I'm not sure how long exactly - BUT FAR TOOO LONG. It's just mind boggling to me that an obvious HUGE problem like this can go unaddressed for so long. Quite literally, whats left of my server is drifting away to guild wars because they can't even PvP w/o some huge glitch preventing it. Not good enough Bioware, I can only assume you guys are trying to set a new record for 2-3 million customers to 0 inthe shortest time frame ever.
  16. I've always liked the idea of a support tank spec for PvP, in fact, I played my Sin to valor 98 as tank spec. However, I'm kinda bored of my assassin (and Empire) now and have instead made myself a Jedi Guardian as my new PvP toon. Anyways, I prefer to use Soresu form for team support and damage mitigation, but, lets face it, defence is not a dps tree. Obviously there is an issue with being in Soresu form - you get less focus. What's a guardian to do? Have as many abilities as you can that cost no focus ftw! To that end, I've come up with this spec, which I like the look of, although I don't have a 50 full warhero toon to test it out with as a guardian. Alternatively, slight variation(less defence, more dmg through sunder debuffs) Play style: I'd usually use Soresu form, along with guard, however, if your trying to kill a healer, you still have the option to switch it up and go to Shien Form for the substantial damage increase - especially on Masters strike which will hit as hard as possible with this spec in Shien form. Utility: This spec looks to have good utility to me, with a shorter Awe cool down, freezing force for free and of course unremitting to make you CC resistant. You also have access to both warding call and improved focussed defense from Commanding Awe. Damage: Your not going to pull off huge numbers like a focus guardian, however, I've generally found focus starvation problems playing focus in soresu form, and as focus, it really is preferable to go to 31 pts in the tree, which limits your utility options. Instead, what we are aiming for is as much dps as we can get, while still being a true tank (although still using DPS gear of course). The idea is to have the ability to contribute useful damage if your assisting someone, or need to solo someone while protecting or attacking a point. Defences: I'd argue that for PvP purposes this spec is actually even better mitigation then defence is, largely due to the passive damage reduction from commanding awe (and the focussed defence buff is a nice bonus too). Awe itself is an amazing ability and having the shorter cool down is great since you'll be wanting to use it whenever you are surrounded by enemies. Hard talent choices: I really wanted to include force sweep into the rotation (since it costs no focus), however, it doesn't hit that hard by itself. Hopefully with the +28% increase from talents it will be worth using. I'd have liked to have also gotten too purifying sweep (I like the idea of being able to apply 5 sunder stacks in 2 moves, then masters strike), but couldn't figure out how to include it. The other ability I would have liked is Zen strike, however, I'm unclear if this can proc off burning purpose? If it can, this ability looks much better, otherwise, for a support spec, I think I'd prefer to just go for for a "steady as she goes" rotation, particularly since I don't think it's worth going so far up the Vigilance tree for a support spec. I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this spec and talent choices - and perhaps other specs people have come up with for utilizing Soresu form in PvP.
  17. I actually think the game is fairly good. My main criticism is not of the games ideas, but of their implementation. This game had a hideous number of extremely serious bugs at release. There also appeared to be a lack of urgency in fixing these issues. The other issue was open world pvp being drastically limited and woefully implemented (graphics engine simply couldn't handle it). Many things in the game ARE done well, but the things that are done poorly, were done incredibly poorly. It's like swtor collided with a paralell universe made entirely of some smelly brown substance.
  18. Ok so I just had a perfect experience of some group finder issues. I'm a lvl 16 guardian on Coruscant, been queued for hammer station for like 2 hours. So, miracuously, a group was finally formed, however, in that time I hadn't trained for a while, so I had new skills available (e.g. taunt). So, I leave the flashpoint to train, but it ports me back to coruscant. Consequently, 2 members immediately leave. Me and the remaining guy requeue, and after bugging some people on coruscant, another group forms. This time, however, it does not offer to port me to the flashpoint. So, I leave the group in order to rejoin the group finder thinking if I get the group (I was the tank, so figured it likely) then I would then get ported. However, instead, I'm locked out of the group finder. The group wants to invite me back so I can just walk there, but, there not allowed too. So, issues: 1) *NEVER* prevent people from inviting to a party for any reason, thats just terrible. Your supposed to help form a group not prevent it. If they get invited, it should offer to port them and give them daily just like they joined through the group finder. 2) Every time an incomplete group reforms, offer to teleport anyone to the flashpoint who is not already inside.

    7 man queues

It's awful, and happening so often I am wondering if some people with multiple accounts aren't doing it on purpose. In any case, this bug should have been fixed within 1 hour of the patch that caused it. For what was supposed to be a high end MMO, the quality control has been woeful.
  20. If the lead designer has quit, maybe there is hope left for this game yet. The patches since launch have actually managed to make the game worse - more buggy, less balanced just horrible patches. Seriously, if I was responsible for that, I'd quit too, what a joke.
  21. My 2 cents. I just returned from a hiatus since April. As expected, the server population is way down, in fact the game is really unplayable due to such low numbers for large proportions of the day. Now, I'm on the PvP server, but what is the difference between PvE and PvP server at this point? None - there is so few people around, that the PvP and PvE tags are utterly meaningless. I would urge you to not repeat previous mistakes and make a server "cluster" ala DAOC. Just merge all 3 servers and get it over with. PvE/PvP/Roleplay, these are all niceties we would like, but it is paramount that there is actually people to play with cause let me tell you. This game is boring as single player, which is what it effectively is turning into right now.
  22. I've unsubbed, could have been the first elite warlord on my server (was valor 97 when I stopped logging in), but whats the point. I haven't uninstalled yet, but expect I will soon. At this stage, have no intention of coming back - ever. If Bioware ever release another MMO, I will definitely not play it - the attention they paid to fixing bugs in the game, well, suffice to say, most of the ones that annoyed me in beta and were reported in beta are still in the game today. Reminds me of DAOC and all its bugs that also never got fixed - funny aren't these the same people? Terrible then and terrible now.
  23. That's exactly right. Diablo 3 took a huge chunk of swtor's now disillusioned population and GW2 is going to finish the job. It's not because these games are going to be good, it's because SWTOR simply isn't. I unsubbed today, and will be installing diablo 3 tongiht and playing with my mates who alreadty left swtor to play D3. This games done, nothing can save it now. I'll give you an example of the sort of lazy sloppy decisions that kill games. There was a bug with the party bomb, apparently some vague pvp exploit. What do bioware do? Fix the bug? No, delete the party bomb. That's just one example, there are endless others. These guys have no clue what they are doing and it shows.
  24. I unsubbed today. My main is a valor 97 Assassin. The reasons I unsubbed Bugs that never got fixed. Let's list the ones that annoy me right now 1) When I alt tab, I can hear every game sound - EXCEPT the only one I care about, when a warzone pops. This used to work, it hasn't now for weeks and nothing has been done about it. This is even worse now a pile of people have left, because warzone queues are now quite long, yet I'm forced to sit there with swtor unminimized. I get bored. 2) I only play the game for pvp. When I pvp, I get this constant electricity noise that gets worse and worse until I'm forced to relog. It also disables my other game sounds. This bug has existed since 1.2 and has not been fixed or even acknowledged. 3) When I login, it's like the game flips a coin. If it comes up heads, my interface works, if it doesn't, my interface does not work in the following extremely irritating ways. Firstly, it will not show any ability as having a cool down, although they still do, making it very annoying to try and play the game where almost every ability does have a cool down. Secondly, when a warzone queue pops, it doesn't display the enter battle window. I've reported this bug many times, and only get the usual scripted garbage. These bugs I find extremely irritating and frustrating and they have sapped any enthusiasm I ever had for this game as they have gone unfixed for weeks. 4) I reckon the day diablo 3 launched, 60% of swtor's population left, no joke, that many. My server, which used to sport 2 imperial fleets now peaks at barely over 100 people. The dead time is now extremely long, queues are very long and made far worse by the bugs I listed above. 5) Patch 1.2 was a total failure. It's the worst patch I've seen since the "New Frontiers" patch for Dark Age of Camelot. Like that patch, the developers hailed it as this wondrous free content gift to us. Like that patch, the developers never for one moment admitted they had screwed up. Like that patch, it was done by people who worked for Mythic. The only difference is how long they took to take a great game and ruin it through sheer incompetence. For DAOC, we got a couple of years out of it, for this game we got a couple of months. This game has been a flop of epic proportions, and it's happened because of dodgy programming, sloppy updates, mismanagement and terrible customer service. Never again will I buy a game that has any of these former mythic employees involved with it. They were bad then and they are bad now. This game could of been a gold mine, but instead it's already in steep decline after only a couple of months. At this rate, they could be switching the power off by next year. What would bring me back? Nothing possibly could at this point, everyones already left, there is nothing to go back too.
  25. Sorry, but respectfully, a good marauder has enough cool downs to counter preety much anyone. I'm a darkness assassin, 31/0/10, in full dps war hero gear (except for shield generator), Yes, I can kill marauders 1v1. It's not easy if the marauder is geared and skilled. Now, darkness assassin is preety much the strongest 1v1 class in the game and I'm a very geared and very experienced one. If I'm having difficulty, how is everyone else doing? My strategy for killing them is relatively simple - it's all about responding and predicting what the marauder does. Marauders do have 1 weakness, they are fairly 1-dimensional - they will whack you with glow sticks. If you do anything to prevent that, they will use a cool so that they can whack you with glow sticks. This actually enables YOU to determine what the marauder does if you have sufficient options. 1) Force leap - counter with force speed reestablish distance - if I get to range, I typically blow all dps cds, stun them and use force lightening. This will do a lot of damage to them, but most decent marauders will see this and break the stun and use force camoflage. This is actually what I want them to do. They have used their CC break early, which means when I CC them again later, they will have no resolve and no CC break. 2) ravage - spike 3) around 20-30% marauder hps, if I didn't stun the marauder earlier, stun the marauder. The marauder has 2 choices, be stunned on low hps w/o yndying rage up or remove the stun and use undying rage. Typically at this stage, I will be on similar hps to the marauder, if I have done everything correctly - unless the marauder is bad and I was able to keep them kited. I have kited some marauders for almost the entire fight w/o losing any hps. * If they don't break the stun they die * If they do break the stun, they typically use undying rage soon after. 5) Win condition Now at this point, is where I apply the cheese. Bad marauders are already dead, I only need to do this to marauders who have good gear and use their cool downs to counter what I have done to them so far. Force cloak to restealth - preferably, do this by los'ing the marauder momentarily - this is to prevent them using an AOE ability to CC or pop me out of stealth. If force shroud is available, use that as well to ensure they can't break your stealth. Now, mind trap the marauder. Immediately drop stealth. Seethe. The milisecond stealth is available again, restealth, re mind trap, seethe again. You are now on full hps. The marauder is definitely not on full hps - and has used all their cool downs - you win. This win condition is setup by forcing the marauder to use their CC break on your electrocute at some point in the fight., the earlier the better. Some other classes enjoy equivalent options.
