  1. *sigh* And I assume you've played both classes to 50 and raided all content in full rakata right? Spreading misinformation and calling Tankasins a faceroll class is what gets unwarranted nerfs. Please, learn the class first.
  2. Oh please stop lumping all Shadows/Assassins with tankasins who wear dps armor. Another nerf is NOT what we need. On topic, every class is viable if you take the time to learn it (With the possible exception of snipers/gunslingers).
  3. Uh... No The "Sith" and the "Empire" have two different ideologies. It's like the Jedi and the Republic. The SIth way, contrary to popular belief, is not the textbook 'evil' side. The Sith believe that the strong should rule and the week cast aside. How many times have you seen a week Sith? Compare that to the number of times you've seen a week Jedi? Ya, I thought so. Comparing the Sith and the Jedi is like comparing House League and Rep. The Jedi are accepting and kind to a fault, while the Sith embrace the harsh truth: Competence needs to be established for a society to succeed. The Empire, though formed by the Sith is completely different. To use modern terms, the Empire is a monarchy, while the Republic a self proclaimed 'democracy'. Please, play a Republic character and then tell me how much better the Republic is. Corrupt politicians in the Republic are more common than Sorcerers. tl;dr: 1. The Sith that follow the Sith code and it's philosophies are not mindless thugs. On BioWare's scale, they'd be something like Dark II or III 2. The Empire is a monarchy, the Republic is a corrupt 'democracy.
  4. Thought I was the only was that didn't like this... Just think about the new 50s: Even with the recruit gear, a new 50 is easily torn apart by a BM, which is 90% of the PvP population, at least on the server I'm on. So whatever team you're on might as well have 1 less player. So with no gear you can't win. But to get gear, you have to win. See the problem?
  5. You're not horribly wrong in anything, but as Deception your primary strength in PvE is your burst. So something that helps a lot is adding recklessness to your rotation. So: Stealth>Spike>VS>VS> Recklessness> Shock> Discharge and Assassinate at 30% health. EDIT: For those saying don't open with Maul, it's situational. Since we have 6 seconds of Dark Embrace when coming out of stealth the force cost doesn't make a huge dent. If it's a weak or normal opponent, maul is much better opener than Spike.
  6. Ruusan war is what he meant, and it's actually the battle of Ruusan . Without getting into complications, you're right. After KOTOR II and before Bane.
  7. So I'm about an hour away from finishing the story on my Assassin, and I'm thinking about starting alts. I know two (fairly big) things about the JK storyline. I keep hearing about how great the story is, but if those are the two main twists, I wouldn't want to play through the whole story. Is that it? Or is there more?
  8. Excellent point. However... The game, intentionally I believe, makes the background and eventual fate of your character rather vague. So instead of saying, my Inquisitor both were slaves, both went to the academy, both were apprenticed by Zash, and so on, we can simply say, we were both slaves who were freed and sent to Korriban and have risen to considerable stature in the Sith.
  9. Awesome idea! Character Name: Cruijf Server: Giradda The Hutt (US East) Level: 48 I also lead a guild and I know all our members would be more than happy to help any new players .
  10. "There will be no survivors." "That's not fear I smell is it?"
  11. Do you have plans to install combat dummies? If so, do you have an ETA?
  12. The higher affection your companion is, the higher rank of gifts you'll need to keep the affection rising. So when you first get Khem, Rank I Cultural Artifacts will get you high hits and are more than enough. At the affection you are, Rank 5 and 6 gifts are needed.
  13. Do you like playing the, 'rogue' type class? Roll Operative. Deception sins are really fun and have great utility and burst, but if you try playing it like a rogue, you'll be very frustrated.
  14. Depends on your spec. For Deception, it, along with maul, is the skill you should be basing your play style around. For Madness, slightly less so, but yes, it still a very good skill in PvP.
  15. Space bar is a no-no for me, as well as most other stuff on that list. I will however, occasionally if grouping in a PuG, sometimes tell them, 'Guys, I gotta log in 20 minutes, mind if we hurry this up?' This will result in us skipping some enemies and going for a more direct route. Just doing it to finish a Flashpoint faster and get to 50 faster? Never.
  16. *Waves* KOTOR and TOR have some of the best stories I've ever played through, and Revan and the Darth Bane trilogy were some of the best additions to the EU I've read. Good luck Drew! I await your next pieces of work!
  17. Like others said, it all depends on your tastes. My personall opinion is: 1. SI 2. SW 3. JC 4. JK A lot of people like JK, but personally its a very predictable, 'Lets save the day!' story. Each to his own I guess, but personally I can't tell you enough how good the SI is, ESPECIALLY act III.
  18. One word: Maul Ugh... EDIT: No, I'm not talking about force cost and damage, they're both fine. I'm talking about having the damn thing just flat out not work most of the time.
  19. Phantom is nice yes. Personally Wraith was my favorite, but Phantom is great too.
  20. JC gets a lot of hate but I personally find it amazing. it all depends on your personality really. JC- KOTOR II style. Intrigue, mystery, suspense. Very nice IMO. JK- Your standard hero story that clearly take a leaf out of KOTOR's book. Epic, but overdone. SM- Awesome dialogue choices, great companions, and a very light hearted story. A laid back type of story. TR- Revenge, suspense, and lots of action. Very fast paced and has lots of moral questions. This is all from alts by the way, my main is an SI, and just to warn you, Republic planet quests overall are stale and not as exciting as Imperial quests IMO. Your choice and have fun!
  21. Two words: Dark Charge. Made this fight a breeze for me.
