  1. Cancelled my account yesterday. Have cleared EC probably over 20 times combined on normal and hard, EV and KP probably even more than that. Done all the hard mode flashpoints countless times. Nightmare mode EC doesn't even really interest me as it really isn't new content, just harder version of already existing content. Even when the new operation does finally go in I really don't think a single new operation would be enough to keep me interested when I have long since burned myself out on all the rest of the content in the game.
  2. EC would be a disaster in the group finder, even in story mode. I have been in group finder operations that have had problems on Soa, Bonethrasher, and the Fabricator Droid, I'd hate to see a group finder run on any of the EC bosses. I'd be impressed if they even got past Toth and Zorn, assuming it was a true PUG and not six people from the same guild plus two random people.
  3. I am a Shadow Tank and tank swap FB & SC just fine. Force speed and jump onto the tank works just fine.
  4. Everquest 1 still releases 54 man raids to this day, which is impressive that people are still able to get them done with the tiny population the game has these days. Pretty sure it's the only MMO that still does large scale PvE content, which is kind of sad since it's over 13 years old.
  5. Pretty sure it's not entirely random. If you queue for all hard mode flahspoints and you get matched with someone who only has Kaon Under Siege selected, you will be doing Kaon Under Seige. Though, if everyone has all flashpoints selected, you will get a random one.
  6. In Everquest 1, content updates in between expansions were rare, but the game has something like 19 expansion packs now. However, the difficulty of the raids, leveling speed, etc, meant that people running out of stuff to do was not the norm. Only the hardcore raiders would actually beat all the raids in an expansion before the next expansion came out. In fact, if memory serves me, the Avatar of War was not beaten for the first time without using an exploit until the night before the next expansion came out. The Gates of Discord expansion was not beaten by anybody before the Omens of War expansion came out.
  7. I have done the daily flashpoint every day except one I think since 1.3 and have done both the story mode ops each week, and so far, I have had only two bad experiences. The worst was in a KP run. Only myself (tank) and one of the DPS had ever done it before. Several wipes from people not killing targets in the right order and breaking CC. When we got to the Fabricator, I was the only one who knew how to do the puzzle, and the other tank and both the healers were very undergeared and inexperienced, which means the other tank was not able to tank the boss the whole way. Eventually we were able to get through it, but it took about 2.5 hours for the whole run. The other was in an EV run. We had an 11k HP healer who died and left after the first boss. We were able to 7 man the instance up through Soa, and had a wipe on Soa, then two DPS left. Finally after lots of waiting we refilled the group and were able to complete it. Other than that, it hasn't been too bad. A few jerks here and there but nothing I can't handle.
  8. OP should be glad he didn't play Everquest, which was designed for the average player to take a year to level from 1-50, and another year to level from 50-60. A good night at level 59 would yield 1 bar (1/25) of a level. As for TOR, this is probably the second fastest MMO I've ever played in terms of leveling (I think RIFT was a bit faster). If the leveling speed was any faster, people would be outleveling quests even more than they already are.
  9. When I started doing hard mode FPs shortly after release I was in Centurion gear with a few Champion pieces. If people complain about you using BM gear, they are idiots.
  10. OP: You could always do Lost Island on normal if hard mode is too... hard.
  11. Are you really complaining about a five minute queue? Go use the toilet and pour yourself a glass of water and come back and the game should be ready for you to start playing.
  12. When talking to the final boss in Esseles, a certain dialogue option will lead to a Trooper (if you have one and he wins the roll), saying: "Keep him talking, I'll flank him" When Vokk is standing right there.
  13. We have one healer operate the rightmost switch and our second tank operates the middle and left switches, with your stronger tank tanking the boss the whole fight and just dealing with the armor debuff. The healer on the ground is responsible for keeping the tank alive, while the healer operating the right switch is responsible for keeping the DPS and the tank operating the other two switches alive. If you are doing it on normal, swap between the right and middle panels. If you are doing hard mode, do right and left panels. This has always worked for us, and is the best way to maximize your DPS, provided the tank on the boss and his healer are able to keep up with the damage when they have 10 armor debuff stacks.
  14. The success or failure of server transfers will without a doubt determine if I stay subscribed or not.
  15. If they actually cared about this problem, server transfers and cross server PvP would have happened two months ago.
  16. 45 minutes and no warzone pop. I can't figure out why Bioware thinks this is acceptable.
  17. The only datacrons that should not be in the game are the two on Tatooine that you have to ride the Jawa balloon to get to. Reminded me of waiting for boats in Everquest except waiting for the Jawa balloon takes even longer.
  18. Beat this flashpoint on hard with the following group: Vanguard tank (lots of Rakata) Sage healer (lots of Rakata) Guardian DPS (a couple Rakata pieces) Shadow tank wearing DPS gear (me, my DPS gear is not good, Columi and Battlemaster, no Rakata) Anyone who says you can't do it with melee DPS or that it requires full Rakata on everyone to beat it is just wrong.
  19. I would say do EV before KP. EV on normal is pretty easy minus Soa which will likely give inexperienced raiders troubles. The trash is very easy though and the first four bosses are all pretty easy on normal. Tionese is more than good enough, you can probably actually do it in oranges if your mods are decent enough. KP on normal I'd say is a fair amount tougher. The trash gets kind of tough after the second boss, whereas the EV trash is extremely easy. Inexperienced or undergeared raiders will likely have troubles with a few KP bosses, mainly Bonetrasher and the Fabricator droid, even on normal.
  20. My order in difficulty for republic would be: Taral V Maelstrom Prison False Emperor The Esseles Directive 7 Battle for Ilum Kaon Under Siege
  21. I'd say Champion is a good baseline for hard mode raids. Anything much worse than that (particularly for your DPS) and you might have trouble with enrage timers on some bosses.
  22. Because grinding dailies is about the most unfun task ever to exist in an MMO since the days of camping a rare spawn for 24 hours straight, and raiding is fun. Some people play to have fun rather than just to get gear.
  23. Anyone who tells you Shadows/Assassins are bad tanks or merely "off tanks" doesn't know what they are talking about. Sure, our damage reduction is lower than other tanks, but our defense chance and shield chance are both higher. We have self heals which helps the healer out. Our threat is probably actually the most solid of the three tanks due to (currently) doing slightly higher DPS while tanking. In the long run, Shadow/Assassin tanks are capable of tanking anything in the game every bit as well as the heavy armor tanks.
  24. Huttball is awesome when the match is actually close. I had a game the other night that ended 1-1 and we won by having the ball at the end. Unfortunately, Huttball has a few flaws: 1) It's very easy for one team to dominate the other. Much moreso than the other two warzones, in my opinion, a few good people can pretty much win the game my themselves, whereas this isn't true in other warzones. A team that has a 20k+ HP tank and a couple healers (particularly sage/sorcerer healers) can win a Huttball match easily even if the rest of their team is a bunch of DPS with 12.5k HP. This leads to many 6-0 or 6-1 wins which just isn't fun at all for the other team. 2) Sort of related to #1, some classes are awesome in Huttball, and many are worthless. Huttball matches can be won without killing a single enemy player, which makes most non-stealth capable DPS classes pretty worthless. A team full of Gunslingers and DPS Commandos is going to have no shot in a Huttball match, and I know people who play these classes hate Huttball most of the time. On the flipside, there are some classes that are awesome in Huttball. I play a Shadow tank, and with force speed and all my defensive abilities, often times I will score 75% of my team's goals. Not to mention my stealth allows me to get in position for easy scores quite often. Sages can make Huttball matches a lot easier due to their friendly pull, and any healer is important to keeping your ball carrier alive.
  25. I laugh every time I see someone says that threat meters and boss mods are required for raiding, because I know they never played a MMO before WoW. Remember EQ raiding where there was no threat meter and a poorly timed nuke from a wizard meant one more wizard corpse on the ground? Wizards didn't whine about how they needed the game to tell them how many times they could nuke without getting aggro, they learned to play their class and learned to get a feel for how much damage they could crank out without getting aggro. Getting the most out of your character without getting aggro was considered a skill.
