  1. Is this a common issue? as far as I can tell most people except the OP are not having any problems since the patch. Driver failure is a really scary thing, it can mean your card is getting severely damaged.

Is your graphics card a Superclocked version? Because mine is... maybe it has something to do with that?

  2. So, nobody can explain while after trying multiple drivers since the patch my graphics card continues to have nvidia driver failure errors while playing swtor and with no other game? This is a brand new sandybridge i7 build, 45C tops temp, and a gtx 580.

I don't know. I've gotten this message a couple of times myself since the patch. There must be some kind of communication problem between the game and the latest drivers now because that's what I'm using too.

  3. simple deduction.

we're not talking about circuit board level stuff. just simple logic.

My cards were fine before this last patch. now they're acting up.

I have some pretty intense games running and never have a problem. now i do.

    again its that simple.

You do realize that the circuit-board level stuff IS the hardware right? Have you ever overclocked your GPU? Is it old? Is it super dusty and getting hotter than it should? Those things could cause problems too.

  4. It's amazing to me how people who say they are in IT can say that software cannot affect hardware. That's just plain silly.

Maybe in some lab with theoretical math this is true but not in real life.

    Here's the equation:

PC - SWTOR = good video cards

    PC + VG + BF3 + Skyrim + SWGEmu + Aion + Rift = good video card performance

PC + SWTOR running = crappy video card performance and constant failure and recovery

    It's really that simple.

    LMAO

And this proves it affects hardware how???

    LMAO

  5. This really worries me as it happens to me every couple hours or so and is usually a sign of failing hardware.

Keep in mind I never experienced this until the latest patch.

My graphics card runs at a stable 45 degrees C.

That's a driver issue, unless it's a really bad one your hardware is probably fine. Try installing a different driver version and see if it helps.

  6. Incorrect. A couple years back, Nvidia put out drivers that killed people's cards. It caused them to be over-worked, and caused massive overheating even though the cards temps showed as 60-70 on temp monitors.

You obviously don't know what 3rd party means...

  7. Ugh this again?

Listen, I played Everquest, too, and you just have to deal with everybody pointing out WoW first. Yes, EQ got spots on the news for people commiting suicide and what not, but WoW had a greater success than EQ ever did.

    (

Yes WoW was a greater success, nobody can argue with that. But that wasn't my point. My point is that WoW was not the start of MMOs like a lot of people believe.

  8. It will be a successful "niche" game. Nothing more, nothing less ... it is what it is. Can we just accept that much.

The fact of the matter is people can speculate about the success or failure of this game until they're blue in the face, but nobody can absolutely predict the future. Only time will tell what's in store for the future of TOR.

  9. There is definitely faction imbalance, but there is nothing BioWare/EA can do about it without restrictions to gameplay.

Well they COULD do something about it... but the question is whether it would actually help or just peeve people off more because they can't pick the side they want.

  10.

Wow has more classes, 10 to 4 (Soon to be 11 in next xpac for wow, and no, ACs don't count as 2)

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I have to argue with that point. The ACs do count as seperate classes. Notice how once you pick your AC it just says "Powertech" and not Bounty Hunter - Powertech... Both ACs fill different roles and in most cases have very different playing styles. I wouldn't call them the same at all, except for their base abilities. But all classes have some similar abilities to those outside their base class anyway.

  11. True that! This game is already better then WOW in many ways IMO. For one, story. I finnaly found a game with my kind of storytelling. That is the most important aspect of a game. Now lets wait for the rest to come.

I agree. It seems like they've got a pretty good foundation. Now they just need to work out the kinks and add in all the extra goodies.

  12. I'm subscribing! I've been having a lot of fun so far. It's got issues but I have faith that this game will be pretty awesome after another 6 or so months of updates. My main character is only at level 36 so I haven't hit that end game boredom that people have been struggling with. I know I'm good for AT LEAST another month, most likely way more.
  13. Yeeesh, what is wrong with ppl? Everyone expects the game to be finished within the first month of being live? This isn't WoW, you can't even compare them! That's like comparing a seed to a full grown tree. WoW has been out for ages and STILL isn't finished, mind you...

That's probably the best analogy for this that I've seen on here. Good job. Unfortunately people these days are too used to instant gratification. They don't want to wait for the game to grow into itself.

  14. People just want to dual wield pistols, and they figure that juggs are the be all end all for PVE tanks so there's no reason to roll powertech.

Yeah this probably sums it up. People find the dual pistols very appealing and for some reason people think that Powertechs seem weak because they only have a single pistol. As for the Juggs, I think a lot of people prefer to tank with those over the Powertechs because it's more like the traditional style tank. Powertech is a different ball game. I've never tanked in a game before so they're all new to me and I thought the Powertech sounded pretty damn awesome. So far, it's only exceeded my expectations.

  15. So there are a lot of different threads about things that people don't like about the different classes. That being said, most of us do have at least one class that we have stuck with for a while. So, why?

    1. What is it about your main class that keeps you playing?

    2. What brought you to it in the first place?

    3. How has your experience with your main class compared to any other classes you may have tried?

    4. What would you like to see fixed/changed/added to your class in the future?

    1. It's sheer awesomeness, that's why I keep playing it. Basically all the reasons why I chose it to begin with are why I keep playing it. The class has only exceeded my expectations, it's so much fun to play.

    2. I've always liked Bounty Hunters in Star Wars lore. Not so much the characters from the movies, but the idea of Bounty Hunters themselves. Especially from a role-playing standpoint. I have a lot of fun playing as a light sided Bounty Hunter. I rolled with a Powertech because I wanted to try tanking for a change, and I liked the idea of being a beefy BH who can take a hit. Plus I love all the gadgets. :D

    3. I haven't gotten far enough with my other classes to have a solid opinion on this one. I gotta say though I miss being able to shoot up in the air with Death from Above when I play my other characters.

    4. Good question. I've never really felt like the class was missing anything, although it would be nice if us Powertechs got a 60 second CC.

  16. Thanks, - Though my jedi was getting them 2-3x (possable bug 2 odd weeks ago ??)

Yeah that must've been a bug because that's not how they're supposed to work. Man I wish I got a chance to use that bug for myself :p
