Yes, there is interspecies relations happening, however they aren't really advertised in the movies or the books, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out it'll happen. And the Legacy is more like a 'family' than a Family. For example - Your first character creates the legacy, then hires a Twi'lek for help. The Twi'lek becomes like family and in turn rises in the Legacy and takes on a partner, who in turn joins the Legacy and takes on their own partner/servant. That is the easiest way to explain how different races/factions can join the same legacy without it getting stupid.

Poor guy =( It annoys me no end when these so called 'experts' who are just dumb kids that know nothing about computers lure in an unsuspecting customer and charge them through the roof for something that's a pile of crap. I learned that lesson a long time ago when I went into PC world here in the UK and saw old graphics cards being sold for more than what the new, more powerful ones were being sold at on the internet. Then come back to the forums with your $2100 and I guarantee you that the people on this forum will link you better computers for half the price, yet three times the power. Canon is a story that's considered official. For example the 6 star wars movies are canon, and the Kotor 1 and 2 are canon. Understand?
