  1. The title says it all. This game is truly special, but nobody I know will play it because of the community. Sure I could find the few non jerks playing, but you would still have to deal with jerks constantly. It was that way from day 1 and the game went from a crap ton of servers to 2...2 US servers. What a disgrace and it happened fast. I told the last jerks I encountered they were the reason I was quitting, and said they should treat new comers better if they want to see this game have any hope to live...They said "We want you to leave". That says it truly all. More piled on saying more rude crap. It started because I asked a question about an issue I was having. So new comers should stay away from this wonderful game unless this horrible version of earth does not provide you with enough negativity. MMo's are horrendous in general (which accurately reflects humanity's decline into unloving jerks more often than not) and I have literally played more than 2 dozen, and never seen one this bad this consistently. Log in now and see them arguing about politics and insulting everyone that dares say anything not rude....By all means. I wanted you all to know that most of YOU drive people away. I care not what you have to say even slightly. the players drove me, my wife, my nephew and my adopted niece from this game and none of us played at the same time! I call that the clincher. BIOWARE....If I were you I would release an offline version of this game, because it is dying a slow painful death, and it is deserves to be seen as the gem it is. I know a few of you are decent kind people...I appreciate you, and wonder how you manage to be around such a massive percentage of jerks. I have found people playing WoW classic to be on the whole so much better to be around. Every time I play WoW classic I meet more nice folks and every time I play this game I log off in a huff and in the mood you read now. I would direct you to this games rapid decline as proof it is not just me. Where did all those people go? Yep.... If the game is amazing and Star Wars is massive, it leaves 1 glaring thing...the players. Truly if you travel, you see the decline all over earth. It is not Bioware's fault at all. What, hundreds of servers to 2 in a few months was it? Meanwhile WoW classic adds new servers all the time. (WoW classic is inferior but the populace is so much better) The fact that so few play this game anymore highlights those that play it all the more. I would ask Bioware to do something, but what? If they got rid of the jerks they would get rid of 90% of their money. So never going to happen, and I get that. Frankly it is not surprising that politics is a constant disruptive topic, because people involved in politics act just as horrible as the people in this game. All people, not just 1 side. No love what so ever. no kindness, but plenty of rude obnoxious people. I am so sad because I love this game and I love people. I even love these horrible humans. I cannot be around them though. I do not get how anyone not a complete jerk can stand this game. More power to you. If I hide chat, people still manage to prove what a jerk they can be in every way they can. They literally try to annoy people. The sad part is, once this game goes under completely, which is not far off clearly, those jerks will spread to other games. I love the game and cannot stomach the people who spread there miserable existence. Easy to pretend, but if we saw how this player base lived, I highly suspect we would see them being jerks IRL because they are miserable and hateful and misery craves company. Humans figured that out thousands of years ago. Adios, I will miss this game dearly, but I would only have to watch the news to remember why I hate playing this game. PS Save your pointless commentary because I will never read it, because the only thing worse than playing with people in this game is interacting with people on this forum.
  2. You make perfect sense. I have yet to see a MMO forum not be a den of negativity for absolutely no reason. I was looking for info and came across this thread. I feel for you. I really do. My suggestion is to take a page from my book, and ignore forums entirely.(this is a exception and the first in a long time, and it will not be repeated any time soon) You are far too logical and make way too much sense to be mixing with those on any MMO forum. So please, realize I see your point and it makes complete and utter sense. The shift is dumb and that dev's ever listen to the community is why every game(MMO's always get ruined) slides into something not fun. Make your game and leave it. Ignore others and bring your vision to fruition. Once you give in to changes you did not envision, you may as well beg for money, as it would be less of a turn off and would effect the game little. The trick Dev's need to learn is...Make your game and totally and completely ignore what players say they want. Players more often than not, want things that are horrible for the game. They will keep playing if you ignore them. Look at the world, which is full of examples. Once the exodus happened...they panicked. It showed. PS...I re-subbed my account, immediately got sick of the obnoxious insults when I asked a question, and canceled my account. It is the players, more often than not those on the forums, that drive away people! My wife tried to play and quit in one day because of how obnoxious and rude the players are. You kill your own fun by reaping what you sow with negativity people! Is it too much to hope you learn for selfish reasons? Of course it is. Now, here they go...
  3. The most fun I ever had in a MMO was WoW's battlegrounds of warsong gulch and arathi basin. SWTOR on the other hand has yet to provide any pvp fun for me in an arena. The remedy is easy. If you gave people a choice between the arenas you have now or arenas i'm proposing I believe very much you would see a clear winner. Firstly the arenas are too small. Make arenas that force teams to leave or send small groups to accomplish goals. A 2 on 2 fight or 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 3 fights would be more fun by a mile! As it is now small pitched battles are nearly impossible. It is just chaos and no clarity at all what is even happening for too many players! So make much larger, open pvp battles. Use part of the planets we already know perhaps, forcing teams to hold "flags" or vital strategic points. This way you will have small bands of troops left behind for defense and small bands sent off to attack making small battles happen which are far more fun than 20 people shooting wildly. Secondly, pvp gear as it is leaves most people just getting creamed. Check the stats of any battle and it tells this story. Any wonder most leave when they are being forced to play hundreds of hours of gameplay they do not enjoy in order to compete in the aspect they do? Simple solution. Make a few arenas with large open spaces that make small pitched battles a must to win, while making all gear equal and I promise you people will love it. Then make those new arenas separate from arenas like the horrible huttball like ones and see which ones people play. PS I understand why some would recoil at gear being even but it should be clear a large number, much larger than those opposed would be very happy. You can have both kinds of arenas, but I promise you those in the equal gear, wide open, small pitched battle arenas will fill up 100 to 1!
  4. I thought as I exit I would leave my thoughts as to why this game cannot keep my sub. Under summary I explain what it would take for me and I believe many others to return. I tried again Bioware. I really gave it my best. What I like --the storytelling is pretty good, yes pretty darn good for an MMO. --Graphics are just perfect except for tatooine, which actually managed to not look as good as SWG. the sand is glossy...that's kinda ridiculous. --the companion system was pretty clever, and I hope a better MMO takes that and runs with it. What makes it impossible to stay Firstly the terrible, and annoying linear nature. MMo's started out as trying to be living breathing worlds and more and more they have become narrow quest hubs with arrows pointing you to your next mission that combat wise plays out like the first mission in the game. Every planet I am on makes me want to get to the next one in a hurry because the layout is so linear and repetitive. Sadly once I get to the next planet, sometime during the first mission, it starts over. Crafting has become a joke in all MMO's and this one is no change. I remember the intelligent design in SWG of resource gathering and I look at this game which just copied and pasted the warcraft model (shame on you seriously) many younger players have no idea how much better crafting can be and how it used to be an entire game in itself once. It always needed to be better but this crafting system is so brain dead and boring you should have just not bothered. It is so bad it is automated. WTH were you thinking? The overlapping story lines and questing makes replaying with other characters TORTURE. Everyone hits spacebar over and over making the terrible linear nature of the game stick out even more. Space ships and space combat are laughable right now. Let's face it people, already hated this system before they even played it. Remember before launch in the forums? Well we were right. Space combat plays like a browser game. I am sure a lot of work went into it but it is ridiculous to expect star wars fans in a MMO to enjoy playing on rails. It can be amusing the first time. After that it feels like you just had no originality. SWG space was so much better except for the pvp part that the fact it was made so long ago should shame you. How you gave the okay on this system is bewildering. Our ships could have been a bit like housing.(please don't tack on housing that way, nobody will return for that) Also travel is so unoriginal that our ships are not even needed. We could just have shuttled. I mean I try not to be irritated but Space could have been so darn amazing. Instead a few people will say " I like space" not knowing or thinking about what could have been done. This game should rival Space MMO's! It's Star Wars! (where did that near 200 million dollars go?) PvP needs tweaking bad. I cannot enjoy it at all and I LOVE pvp. huttball was a worse concept then space. PvP does work in the open world but this game is not designed for that, and it should have been. Actual PvP in a way that matters, like you would expect in star wars should have been a must in the planning stages. Not a warcraft battleground model. lack of originality here is still stunning to me. No housing (I can hear those that have no interest in it warming up). The thing is housing would have been the easiest thing to design and you know the half that claims that they do not want housing would have enjoyed it anyway and the other half would have been extremely grateful. How many would have chosen to not own a house? well the past proves for a fact next to nobody, right there next to him Summary---- How many people left your game? It is hard to hide that is was over 90%. That should have kicked you in the butt. I am not seeing that. You can alter PvP going forward and make it so we are fighting in open world by design. We should be able to lose and capture cities!! come on you know that makes sesne. PvP should feel like it matters. the Idea of luke going to play huttball makes me sick inside. you can replace space with something...something...I mean something. YOu can create an open planet or 2 for housing that can be placed anywhere. I promise you every single person would love choosing the layout of their house and then finding that perfect place to put it. Not much thinking leads you to realize how PvP and housing can go hand in hand too..come on guys..."clap" wake up here, please. you can make resource gathering and crafting intelligent on new planets. Will you? Will you do this stuff? I see a ton of players coming back if you do. PS and non related. I think if someone made a MMO that was mainstream with no combat they would be on to something. I think that is what would dethrone warcraft. Not that I want no combat but all these companies are blind to what they are doing wrong and a game that let's you garden, craft, live in increasingly better housing etc. will would finally bring originality back to MMO's and then these games would borrow from that. That is the only way I see this stupidity ending.
  5. My son recently dragged me back into the game and we are deciding on whether we will give this a go again or should we donate our precious time together on Guild Wars. One thing that may be large is how much you charge to transfer. I shook my head at Blizzard charging 25$ for an automated service and it was for several reasons the final nail in that coffin sadly. ( It is after all pretty much the same service as logging into the game, close enough for sure) Could be the same here. I know because I have been around long enough that all charges made by MMO's are barely out of the infant stage and I remember companies blatantly saying " we have no idea how to charge, we will see what we can get" Well there could be no reason in my mind why such a fee should even exist. Some run oddly to defend companies on this issue (wow our grandparents would not have ever done that) and say well there would be abuse of the service...well that is not true because it is so easy to make transfers with rules to stop that. Not that any reasonable abuse has been made apparent to me. It would seem obvious people would use it to have fun, or more fun,. There is a cost in making the system, but honestly it is the kind of thing that should be a part of the service. We can only play one character at a time and you constantly provide ways for it to be more fun, and that is why we pay 15$ a month. That 15$ is an random number anyways, and only a thought process that is trying to find every charge for more money is the one that supports such a charge. While I admit many people are happy to hold open their wallets I am not one Though I do marvel at how many do. So if you are going to make it a fee to transfer anything over 5 dollars would send me a message of how this game will go, and I would take my exit early. It is an automated service! Would be like charging me to log in from another PC! with respect---thanks.
  6. Seriously please step away from the keyboard and look at what you are so upset about and what you are demanding. Life has to have a window you can go to to get perspective I hope. Also stop demanding stuff. This is just nit picky in relation to your assurance you deserve this information how you deserve and when. Can you please not see your on about something too much? In a few days or hours you will be over this and hopefully life will not hand you a mortal reminder of what is important and likely should be much more anxious with!!!!!!
  7. hows this? this last sunday in the morning, number of players on republic fleet? 1!!!!!!!!!!! Just me. That was it.. Yes it was very early, like 6 or 7 AM. I play on RUCOKRRORRO or whatever it is. I know that is a close spelling. Anyone who thinks being the only person on the fleet is okay is a typical "human" who responds to post just to tell others they are wrong, even when they have nothing to do with the subject. Being that it is a PvP server I must say it has made my friends and family on the verge of quitting. If I have to pay for a transfer I will just cancel fyi. Already eyeing GW2. Which is sad because I like this game in some aspects A LOT! But the not being able to choose a warzone, huttball existing, being forced to play huttball if I wanna do a WZ, The fact my server has not been above light since the week of launch. "audible sigh" If it cost more then 5 bucks for a transfer we are out. I would miss this game but the flaws are ruining the fun factor. I dread to see the server population in 6 months at this rate. Save PvP save the universe! there is nothing anyway but PvP after 50 really. Reset the entire PvP system and merge servers.
  8. So when it was announced that warzones would not have brackets we here in my real life group discussed why this was a bad idea. One of us however said let's wait and see then judge. I know this has been talked about on these here forums and yet I feel the need to bring it up again. While we collectively thought this was a really dumb idea what we really found foolish was why. Because Bioware is against twinking. At the end of this post I deal with the misconception Bioware had as well as a certain WoW loud minority. For now I just would like to say. we waited, we have played, it is a failure. The only place I can find any percentage at all of people that have no issue with not having level brackets in warzones is here on the forums. This is because the nature of forums is basically eveil. People tend to only respond to post they disagree with. How often do you see people saying in response to post "I agree a lot!" It happens but we all know it is not the norm. I have asked my guild, I have asked in general chat, it seems a slam dunk that level brackets make more sense. It has become clear to me, the majority feel signing up for warzones at lower levels is a waste of time. If my opponent has uber skills and I do not what does it matter if we have the same health? It took us all of 5 minutes before we even tried it to understand this is stupid. For the life of me I cannot understand your game design here. As a level 50 I also have no desire to faceroll lower levels. Because being the evil twink I apparently am, I prefer equal footing. I also think WZ's fail in design, and I absolutely hate not being able to que for the one I would want to play in. I think that huttball is a crime personally. Sure not a go to jail crime, but rather a fire people in charge crime. Not just for that true, but also for the following... I have found Pvp to only be fun when it happens on worlds. Oh but that never friggin happens! Why in the world you only can PvP on certain worlds because the 2 factions show up at the same level on only a few is yet another "*** were they thinking, and how long before they hire good PvP developers?" if you play on a PvE server I encourage you to try PvP servers because you have nothing to fear. You can fight easy NPC's to your hearts content. No challenge and no worry. Just the occasional PvP fight every 5 days or so. From what I have read here, there is more open world PvP going on on non PvP servers. If you play on a PvE server and have had more then 2 open world encounters in the last week, you have more then me on my PvP server. And I look for them! Does that sound like good PvP design? the war zones that exist honestly are not good enough to play for years. Even if you make more, which you advertise you have one more coming, if they are at all like what you have, then I will pass. I am not going into every aspect of PvP here, but let it suffice that I simply cannot find decent PvP anywhere, at all. I would be happy to come help you design some fun stuff. For a fee of course. Of course then I would have to work with the people I am bashing, I cannot imagine that being happy. I would like to ask though, are your subs where they should be? If so ignore me by all means. NOW---------------------- You have this design to thwart the evil twinks? really? let me start by saying, or rather asking what is a twink? I was called one in WOW. My entire guild were called twinks. Why? As far as I can tell it was simply because I worked for months to get good gear for my characters, and I enjoyed playing at certain levels more then others. I can see why I should be hated. Here is a bit of information, I would rather have had standard PvP gear for everyone to save me the time! The entire reason to get good pvp gear was to compete. So next to nobody would mind if everyone had PvP gear that they wore automatically so only skills mattered. What Blizzard did was make people who cried twink happy by making them the twinks by giving them Heirlooms. Yea so of course they were happy. The entire notion that people who worked for gear were bad people was an insult to a lot of fine people, including my 10 year old son. SO if the entire reason you made such a horrible system was to not have twinks, you could have avoided that by simply making standard PvP gear for war zones. Who would complain about letting skills win? As a parthian shot I offer this. Make PvP in the open world happen. No matter what I like about this game you do not have my future money if all there will be is more PvE or more of the same PvP. I suggest you make war zones that have a more fun feel to them as well. I am thinking with the nature of this game that smaller groups, say groups of 4 or 6 would be your most addictive. Sure make one larger one for more people for those that want ti, but I am certain if you make a good warzone for 4 to 6 people, no matter what is said, that will be the one that people go to and then go back to. I mean 4 to 6 people each side. It fits this game, as you do not have as good a design as WoW for larger one IMO. ( even they suffer in larger groups, as PvP with large groups is just simply a mess and confusing) And lastly (oops, my parthian shot was not one) Let us choose which WZ we go into.( I have not been back to WZ's so if this has changed please find it in your heart to forgive me) It seems the most talked about thing on these forums as far as what people are looking forward to PvP wise is Guild Wars. I have see it dozens of times this morning. Count me as one of them. Because what keeps me playing a MMO is whether or not I am having fun playing PvP. PvE has it's limitations. I have no hatred for those that avoid challenges and just want to do the same easy stuff over and over. Yet from what I have seen, it seems many many many PvE'ers like PvP when it is fun. I am not having fun PvP'ing here. I know you have a lot to do. I know the people playing your game are a royal pain in the you know what....But people shut up when they are having fun. We know your PvE is great. We also know according to these forums that some people think PvP is an add on. You know however that you have claimed PvP as a major aspect of your game. Make it fun. Bring in people with New ideas. How did a certain famous smart person describe insanity? yes, he said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. If you are happy with your result then who am I to suggest anything? PS If I was not bored I would be playing.
  9. People on either side of this, kinda suck. Who cares either way? My father in law was just diagnosed with cancer, I have chronic pain issues at the moment. The world news was about quite a bit of death. Oh and then there is this thread.
  10. I think the reason, and I could be off, But I think the reason some folks had an issue with cross servers and insta LFG's prog's was 2 fold. It goes back to how MMO started and where they went and are going. Firstly the idea you need 2 dps-1 healer and 1 tank hits some the wrong way, and thats how the LFG system does it. That may seem silly to noobs to MMO's, and it now kinda is, after all they mainstream the games that way from ground up now. Then you get the people who wont let you join because you are not this or that or do not have this gear or that...this one here pisses me off personally, it sucks every inch of fun out immediately. I would far rather do a flashpoint with 4 bounty hunters or something like that, it just is more of a challenge and fun, though since bounty hunters can handle 3 rolls that may be a bad example. You know what I mean though.. It is much more fun to mix it up. It is still in that sense old school versus Nooob school Old schoolers hate being herded, and they have a great point. though one lost on the masses. There was a time where you role played in a virtual world, and while you could put a theme park in the middle of that, the companies making these games have yet to realize that the perfect MMO can please everyone, it can be done. Anyways I digresss. the other thing was again an old versus newer issue sort of...BY teleporting people to the instance you lose immersion and exploration. Again though this point is outdated, because like it or not the masses need these themepark designs. The games are not made to explore virtual worlds. Bioware does make the story immersive , but that makes it better to play solo. being grouped while questing has an annoying effect and you lose immersion Anyways I think the thing here is cross servers have major pluses and tiny negatives in this era. Community? Cross server groups would not hurt the community, there is no such thing as a community. If you like the idea of a community in an MMO you are not a theme park player. These new MMO's are just games, not worlds, they are not virtual worlds they are multi player games. I do not like that being only the case. But oh well. There is basically no reason to not have cross server LFG's. I saw someone get told they were not good enough for a flashpoint a few weeks ago, and I said, "here we go" My son was in a flashpoint where the leader kicked a noob in favor of his companion half way through! I would welcome a tool that lets you interact with everyone on any server for 6 months and then have the ability to move to the....Only for people having fun server, no a holes allowed" Now there is a tool I could use! Maybe we could have a system where all those people get moved to a server and have to live with one another?! Could even make a reality show out of it.
  11. Well I do not know if this counts as QQ. oh and QQ is getting old, anyway... Well, I guess I am crying, because I have been looking forward to this game for a long time and now I am forced to leave, heck I may not even buy my preorder. I think bioware should know why, don't you? Others, at least a few will likely feel the same as me about... PvP zones! Argh are you kidding me? this was the biggest thing I figured would get me to stay. Thay are just horrible for me, and I would add also my son. 1. they are random, hate this, I really hate this, why am I forced to play huttball? no thanks. Unless I am missing something this is deal breaker numero uno. 2. the other 2 zones open to me were just no fun at all, zero fun. I feel like bioware has not gauged it's audience. Sure some will say "I like it" but as a whole I do not see role players enjoying this, nor do I see PvP'ers enjoying this, not as a who;e. I was playing at level 17 against players way higher then me, so of course I was raised to their level. Yea? what about the abilities they used to wipe me like a cling on and then flush me? hmmm? I said before I tried it , it sounded stupid but I would try it...well it is worse then I thought. I cannot imagine too many people in the MMO world dying to play in TOR's battlezones. PvP'ers everywhere will be watching the GW2 clock. I am sorry because I wanted to like this more, but alas. I would play a PvP server but this game, like 99% of MMO's are not designed for PvP servers to be the norm, so the idea of fighting when I do not feel like it against random people at random times, and THEN for those fights to mean jack squat to zones, planets or the universe? no thanks. This game is a marvel at questing! gratz! However, I have already repeated 2 classes to level 10 and just in that short time the re-doing of quest got really boring, lord I cannot imagine replaying 50 levels of the same class. I really hope you at least change PvP. Please give us clearer zone maps with better dynamics, it feels so helter skelter and the notion of teamwork I can see will be EXTREMELY rare in pug's...and you know they will be pug's due to 4 man team limits. I hope too you make level brackets, as I would never be induced to play against people 15 levels higher then me again. what are ya thinking? on a personal note, I read somewhere that bioware was dead set against "twinking". I will never know why as people getting the best gear they can is what everyone does and only non pvp'ers would ever whine about that. always leaves me scratching my head when someone says twink like it's is somehow sinister. So if this is to avoid twinking it is a utter failure. Just give everyone standard BZ gear or something. Most supposed twinks would rather be EVENLY GEARED then be forced to get the best gear so they can compete , only to be maligned. What is a person to do, not get good gear? let others have better gear? let us please put an end to the notion that "twinks" are evil. The folks I played with never wanted to 1 hit anybody, only to not be 1 hit. stop making people who work to get gear out as bad. just silly. If you mean to tell me your system is better I suggest you are high, this is strictly for non PvP players who like to run around aimlessly and shoot crap. Anyway I found my pvp experience leaving me not caring even when we won, it was just un rewarding and I will not be back. thanks for reading and I hope once you sort this mess out I can come back and enjoy. EDIT I forgot, space....I wish those oddballs that say "I like space" would at least then say "but I can see why anyone expecting a great space battle game would dislike it" It is for those folks that do not have 5 or more space titles in their collection, if they have a collection at all! Honestly I cannot see space gamers liking this with any percentage worth mentioning.
