So last time I wondered about Rodian. Now there is another that might be more likely, and that's Voss. If there's one species ingame that could be a playable one, then this is it.

I think your idea is great but it was mention long long time ago the reason is not because of lore or anything with voice stuff. it's because of character modeling. Any Playable race would have to have a humanoid face structure. If you went to character creation and toggle between the different races you notice they all have the same character face model or very similar to it with some slight changes.

This was one of the major flaws with the Current Game Engine. They would need to invest a bunch $$$$$$$ Transfer the game into whole another Game Engine like Unreal Engine.

The dev's can only work in the space they were given.  But we don't know the future they could be working on that as we type these post.

  2. I love everyone's idea's.. I think if they choose 1 or 2 of those ideas would be great addition to the game.

I think they did great on overall story!  Can't wait for the Planets updated with New Quality graphics and model

What I would like to see in 2024:

1: Overhaul of the Class/Combat System: I think update to the abilities animations would be nice to see.

2: Character Creation Overhaul: Updated Character models and more customization choice

    3. Less Companions added: Way too many Companions in game, I would like to seem them bring back some of the 1st gen companions back into the story.  Getting little boring with the same companion every MSQ updated.

    4. Overhaul of PVP System:  Bring back Open World PVP 8v8 is nice but 20 vs 20 would be better.

Still a studio known for Maintenance mode with not updating it's I.P's I just don't see this being a good change, then again this game has been limping along ever since they took away the funding/assets from the game to focus on Anthem.

The difference from SWTOR and the other game they already own is that this game actually make money. Secondly, why is everyone so mad? EA has been ruining this game for years. You should be excited that this game is finally going away from EA.

EA has clearly shown that they don't give a crap about SWTOR for years. I'm excited that EA sold it off.

    BEST DAY EVER!!!

The Old Republic handed over to current Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot developer Broadsword Online, which is run by former Mythic Entertainment co-founder and BioWare VP Rob Denton, who previously worked on The Old Republic in its early days.

If you were around during Rob Denton days, you should be excited.

GWS2 hardly gets updates, and STO doesn't have end game content beyond upgrade/pay for your ships upgrades to fight more mobs.

Guild Wars 2 get regular expansion and had one of the most successful expansion this past year.  The game has rebounded if you haven't played i suggest giving it go. STO in general has improved expansion over Expansion. I didn't say it was great I said it improved since a new studio took over.

  6. Yup, I knew it. Been here since the beginning and I could tell by how the patches and updates that something was off.  But let's not get too worried because look at Guild War 2 when they move studio the game move from F Quality to B+ Quality. Same with Star Trek Online and many other games.  We will have to wait and see what the future holds.

I was under the impression that Star Wars Licensing deal was extended. Perhaps I'm wrong about that. Have you come across up to date information that it still will expire in May 2023?

Oh May was suppose to removed it was just to say (2023) I was adding something but wasn't relevant let me me fix that.

Yes, there strangle hold on Star Wars content ends this year. EA still can pitch Star Wars IP to Disney to make a game but they no longer have the only right to do so.  This is why we  have studios like Ubisoft making an Open World Star Wars game.

But you can see all the upcoming games already announced for Star Wars content. No MMO has been announced but if they're going to actually do a new MMO it mostly will be sometime next year.

Re-skinning the same CM item models over & over again doesn't take "work".   It's just copy/paste/color, at best.

Most of the CM re-skins are digital trash.  Not all, but most.

No one was questioning that lol ( duh ) .

Saved into what though?  A pattern of transient short-term players, never building toward anything substantial  (other than further compounding game inflation ) , combined with dwindling original $ubscribers with each passing year.

Fact is, BioWare overestimated the holding effect of  *story* ( aka the "4th pillar" ) in a MMO , whilst underestimating the importance of PLAYER imaginations & community interdependence , and then couldn't keep up with subsequent content demands ironically spawned by their own original ( and noble ) mandate toward said "4th pillar" .

In other words: They went too much theme-park and not enough  sandbox.   There should've been a better balance between both, so that PLAYERS could sustain their own interests without having to rely upon ( or resent against ) big brother BioWare to entertain them repeatedly.

When did i ever say  GSF was better than JTL ?  ( hint: i never did )

Yes i know, since i started in SWG Pre-cu on day 1 of JTL ...and then, eventually, helped revitalize that game as QA & Coder ( minor bug fixing & such ) .

So yeah, i certainly don't need you to tell me about SWG. ;)

uhh, i never said GSF has put it .  I'm saying , strictly for SWTOR , GSF is the only thing slightly hinting at putting it.  ( not counting those other "on rails" ship space missions )

Therefore, i see no logical reason to completely remove GSF  alltogether. ( your ridiculous OP )

Instead, as noted in my forum sig below, i have personally been begging/pleading with BioWare for ohhhh about 10 years now to expand & develop GSF further, so that it can truly bring more *Star* into STAR WARS: The Old Republic .   Obviously not as much, nor as dynamic, as SWG JTL was ... But still could be better than current.

Unfortunately, EA won't let them, due to fears it could conflict with, or detract from,  'SW:Squadrons'  and 'SW:Battlefront' .

    @Nee-Elder Doesn't this feel similar? Since you're a Pre-CU player like myself.

Pre-CU JTL= ROTHC (Rise of the Hutt Cartel) , GSF,

CU Rage of Wookies= Shadows of Revan, KOTFE

NGE = KOTET , Onslaught, Legacy of the Sith, Combat Styles

I mean history really repeats itself. Look at the Dev Post. Not one post in many threads very similar to when asking feedback on NGE and the whole player base was like "We hate it" and they release the crap anyways.

I'm just asking if you also see the similarities?

Just an idea, but this game has been out for a very long time, im not trying to take it down or kill it, infact i have played since the beginning. This game has gotten so big i would like to think the package is completed.

I think bioware should work on making a new Swtor esque game that would inherently have less buttons to press, and could be maps to a controller, providing console support increasing the over all player base / engagement. Keeping with the decision style game play of maybe I flush you out the airlock, maybe not? no I definitely air lock time. lets come up with ideas for the future post your ideas

I'm going to say lets flush out the high republic in a grand swtor esque fashion lets meet the people of the high republic and the sith, see the lands, and explore their time like we did for swtor. I don't like the current all in one story, unless you by coincidence add in job storys that explain why you might be there and the coincidence be strong making it feel more connected. SWTOR is cool Darooga's pleasure barge is gone :(. thats ok lets build another one!

Everyone will get there wish soon. I wouldn't be surprise of a new Announcement of a Star Wars MMO.  History Repeats itself.

    JUN2003 - SWG Releases

    OCT2007- EA Purchased BioWare

    OCT2008 - SWTOR was Announced

DEC2011 - SWG Server Goes Down

    DEC2011- SWTOR Release

NOV2013 - EA Signs Star Wars Licensing Deal for 10  Years

    2023- EA Deal Expires (Yes)

Easy timeline, So I wouldn't be surprise to see a New MMO Announced by Next Year.  Best thing is that there are much better Game Engines and Companies out there who can really do a great job with Star Wars.

I'll give example: Cartel Market items: DT-11 Blaster w/Holster cost: $18.00. You made people pay for item where the holster disappear after combat or cutscene 90% of the time. This is unacceptable.

Please explain how BioWare "made" you or anyone pay for digital trash?

I had to respond to you separately,  Clearly you don't understand the meaning of the word "Example"

    Example: be illustrated or exemplified.

What I provided above was illustrated example of bug in the game that hasn't been fix yet.  Secondly, you shouldn't call someone else work trash because that rude and the person who designed it put a lot of work on it and they deserved to have their work being displayed properly.

EA introduced a scam ( "free" to play , but go buy stuff from Cartel Market , which = wayyyy more than 15 dollar subscription )  but imho  if the playerbase hadn't fallen for it, repeatedly, then maybe EA would've been forced to invest more real significant game development & Content more often.  ( including GSF )

What are you talking about in Feb 2012 the game had 1.7 million Sub and by July 2012  the game fell below 1 million sub. This was mostly because the removal of Open World PVP. The F2P Model and Cartel Market saved the game.  I loved Open world PVP but that was so unstable they had no choice but to remove it.

    15 hours ago, Nee-Elder said:

As to your original point: It's utterly ridiculous to propose removing GSF.   This game needs more *STAR* parts of  the 'Star Wars' .  Not less.

What? Star Wars Galaxies had a better Space system than this game. At least in SWG you could fly your Ship and take down Destroyers or even board them and steal data from the computer while fighting though legions of enemy.  Don't act like GSF put the "STAR" in Star Wars give me a break.

    1) GSF is in a great spot compared to other parts of the game. It's far more balanced then ground PvP for one thing.

    3) Yes many of us would want more GSF updates, however lets be blunt, is it cost effective for them?

You're 100% correct it not as bad as other parts of the game. However, it does have bugs & issues that need to be patched. I'll give example on CTP map there are a very long delay for the system to recognize that you're actually in range before it begins ticking. Also, There still a bugs with achievements not being rewarded.  So yes it does need patches and regular update to stay relevant.

    15 hours ago, Toraak said:

    2) your example of that cartel market item is irrelevant. All MMO have bugs in them, and some of them do stay there for years. Based on your opinion this entire game should be deleted.

Of course all MMO's have bugs, I wouldn't disagree with you.  However, What happen when bugs or issue don't get fix? it create a much bigger issue.  Great example of this issue is the SCORECARD. This has been a issue for years. Did you ever wonder why PVP Scorecard stay broken as well? because both ASSETS correlate with one another.

    15 hours ago, Toraak said:

    4) You do realize you don't need to pay anything to play GSF unlimited right? Ask yourself this question. How many people that routinely play GSF are actually subscribing to the game? BW would know this answer better then any of us. If the answer is not many, then BW has most likely decided to put funds into area's that Subscribers actually play.

Not entirely sure what you're asking or posting but I never said anything about Sub playing GSF. I said SUB and F2P have to right to voice their concerns.  Subscribers are the reason you have GSF. Please tell you do remember the Space on Rails system?

None of your reasons are worthy of having GSF removed. In fact NO MMO should ever remove any content.

Base on your words alone is the reason why the game mode should be removed. Off your own word, We don't know how many people are actually playing the mode and you don't have to pay anything for it. Correct? Then why, has there not been any map or ships added to a game mode in the past 5+ years?

Leave this to everyone who actually posting in this thread. Please answer this for me.

Why hasn't there been any content (maps, battle modes, ships) added to GSF?

This is how you know it's bad, is when they're not even adding ships to the cartel market for us to "BUY" and you know they love their Cartel Market Shop.

Instead of saying "It's in a good place!" actually explain what in a good place.

WE didn't get off-topic. You did.

Your first post wasn't sarcastic. It was a whine. And turning tables? Eh? We're not in competition, are we? What are you on about? If you can't articulate yourself very well and can't master sarcasm, don't double-down and try to re-frame it as trying to catch someone out and call others 'weak'. I just said you're probably lacking inspiration - that's not a put-down. It's a response to your post. It's just baffling and laughable.

There's no reason to remove GSF. It's fine as it is, and has a very dedicated group of people who enjoy it. If it gets development, great. But at the moment it doesn't need much doing -  it plays fine.

I wasn't writing a post assuming anything about you; it was a post in response your own sarcastic reply. What do you expect? I haven't insulted anyone. The only person here who's insulted anyone is you insulting the Dev team in your original post. And sarcasm isn't the best way in the first instance to address something you clearly feel strongly about. If you're still lacking inspiration, take a break from the game and come back to it later. All you're doing is projecting and venting, really. And you're the aggressor here, mate.

The reason why I say remove it from the game is because of these reasons:

    GSF System:

    1. Lack any Planning & Goals - Whether an update is big or small, each one is a form of communication with players, demonstrating that you are listening to player feedback and you care about improving the player experience. Players has been submitting feedback for years on what they would like to see change/updated or added to GSF. They feedback has been ignored.

    2.  Bug Fixes & Patches: Self explanatory don't really need to explain this point.

    3. Major Content Updates - We have had several Content updates over the past years. When was the last one for GSF?

I'll stop here I could go on more but I think you get my point. You can't keep something in game just because a small % of the player base is playing it. The whole purpose of adding anything to the game is for the community as whole to enjoy it. The reason people don't play GSF is because they do not enjoy it. That goes for any system such as Ground PVP/PVE. People don't Que for PVP is because the currently don't enjoy it. Gaming is suppose to be enjoyable.

    On 5/22/2023 at 2:33 PM, farren_whyde said:

The reason I point this line out is the because this is what really wrong with this game. The community has become so complacent with C+ Quality and content is the reason why we get these kind of updates and systems.  ~ I want to go back to the days where you would go onto the forums and seeing everyone praising the team for such excellent quality~ Now we get cinematic with error and glitches. How does so many errors get to the live servers?

I'll give example: Cartel Market items: DT-11 Blaster w/Holster cost: $18.00. You made people pay for item where the holster disappear after combat or cutscene 90% of the time. This is unacceptable. This is just example they are much more major problem I just want to use something where a consumer has to use Money for a bug item.

You can't leave content in game that broken just because a group of people like it as is.

Mate, I have the right to vent and project my frustrations because I'm a playing customer, I've sub to this game for the past 12 years.  Actually, EVERYONE who downloaded this game doesn't matter if you're SUB or F2P customer has the right to tell them they're "Messing Up" Just because you like the state of the game doesn't mean everyone has to.

    Hi all!

Poking back in to respond, thanks so much for the comments and feedback so far. A common question is if we’ll be reducing the Weekly Arena Missions similar to the Arena Objectives. The answer is we will! I’ll update the initial post as well as list the information below.

Reduced the requirements for PvP Arena Weekly Missions:

    • [DAILY] My Kind of Scum
      • Now requires 4 Arena Matches (Wins count x3) - down from 6
    • [DAILY] Arena of Death!
      • Now requires 4 Arena Matches (Wins count x3) - down from 6
    • [WEEKLY] Time for Pain!
      • Now requires 16 Arena Matches (Wins count x3) - down from 24
    • [WEEKLY] Go Berserk!
      • Now requires 16 Arena Matches (Wins count x3)  - down from 24

As always, please keep the constructive feedback coming to make PvP Season the best experience yet!

Sound good! Can't you also please take a look at the Queue system so that the games are balance instead of getting a mix-match game each round.  examples would be 2 (Two healers) v 4 (DPS). People would Que up more if they knew they would get balance match.

You're just frustrated because your wish-list isn't happening, and your sarcastic reply doesn't do you any credit at all. So, sulk away.

Ha. the whole post was suppose be sarcastic as you tried to come an put down someone and got the tables turn on you.  It's clearly you don't understand the meaning behind the word "IF".  BTW Since it was lost on you clearly by your first post. Which your post makes no sense " What does my inspiration have to do with GSF" I'm advocating for them to just remove the mode. If you have no development plan for mode there is no reason to keep it in the game. That would be the best thing for the system and Yes it will make some people mad but reality there hasn't been any update or change to the actual game mode since KOTET.

Actually to be honest "YES" I could.  You write a post acting like you know who I am and who I work for? You clearly have no idea of my background and skills.

    1. Stop blindly trying to insult someone when you clearly terrible at doing it make you look very weak.

    2. R&D must be done before you add any type of content in any game. Critical step and it clearly wasn't done correctly during some of the decision making for this particular IP.

Again, I agree with you 100% we got off topic again. I still think GSF should just be removed and maybe they can cycle back to it in future when they have time to put attention into the mode itself.

Geez, let me think for second....

Wait for it... If i was on this creative team i would... add.... hmm... let me think for a quick second..

    1. Rodian
    2. Weequay
    3. Wookiee
    4. Trandoshans
    5. Mon Calamari

Geez, some of the most popular Star Wars Species ever created by the brilliant George Lucas. But wait this team gives us...

    • Cyborg - What?
    • Rattataki - For real?
    • Cathar - Cat people?

Come on pick any race above would been 100% better choice.  If you took a picture book and show it to a group of children would've pick better races.

So back to your answer. You're 100% Correct I have lost all inspiration that this development team knows anything about Star Wars.

    Hey Community!

I wanted to touch on some changes to Arena objectives coming in PvP Season 3. When we were building out the Seasonal Objectives for Arenas, to keep it simple we made it require double the amount of Warzones given their relative time commitment in theory. However, in practice we know that the time it takes in many cases for Arenas isn’t exactly half a Warzone. In season 3 we’ll be lowering Arena objective requirements to be closer in alignment with our goals and feel a bit more in line with Warzone Objectives in their time to complete.
The updated objective requirements will be:

    • Arenas: Decorated
      • Earn at least 7 medals in 6 Arena matches (down from 8 matches)
    • Arenas: Combatant
      • Play 12 Arena matches (down from 16 matches)
    • Arenas: Domination
      • Win 4 Arena matches (down from 6 matches)

Please keep the constructive feedback coming, as we look to improve our PvP Seasons system. We hope you enjoy the upcoming PvP Season 3!

Gotta run, I guess Kai Zykken needs help crafting a… tiny Mawvorr net?

How is the Broken Queue system still not a major focus?  or is 1v4 still the vision for this game?  Still no spectator mode for down dead characters?  No scoreboard fixes?

Best you can do is medals changes. Thanks for showing that you don't even play your game.

Clearly 100% sure i was writing that the game is dying since 7.0.

Please now tell me how this chart fail to show that and how my argument fail.....

When you can check 2022-02 when 7.0 realesed and the chart go down.

6.0 lowest is around 150-200k and highest around 450-500k

7.0 lowest is around 100k and highest is around 220k

Game is on life support since 7.0 i said that and the chart proves that but im waiting for you to prove me wrong.... The fact it incrased in the last few months dosnet mean that its not dead compared to what it was in 6.0 era....

Let's end this insanity, You are missing one major fact... and that is this game is 12 Years old and for a game that is 12 Years old and to have almost 500k Active Players is amazing. No one is saying that 7.0 wasn't received well we all know it wasn't. But the game is not on the collapse.

Also, You're going to see decline all the time due to how the development cycle is and that goes for a lot of game. The whole purpose is for player to comeback and try what ever new and once they're done they go back to playing something else.

Now if we were seeing those numbers for major expansions then that would be something to worry about.

SWTOR is following the same Development style as FFXIV. Where they release small story update every number patch the only difference is that FFXIV provide Hours on Hours of content where SWTOR provide maybe 3 hours of content and that all.

The game been on the decline for years ever since they brought out KOTFE.  Of course it has had some spikes in population during some content update.

I don't think that anyone could deny with a straight face that the game's population has declined over the years. And yeah, KOTFE did quite a number on the population, a lot of people had issues with it. I was one of them, although I didn't leave the game over it, but was very open on the forums on my dislike of it.

My point was only about the "game is ded/dying". We've been hearing people say the game will be dead/gone in a year for the last ten years on the forums heh.

TBH the biggest drop in population was when they decided to get rid of Open world PVP to go to this Arena PVP System that has been the biggest headache since it was launch. I still don't understand why labeling a players Spec was a good idea.  Make absolutely no sense what so ever.

Oh for those people who weren't around in those days "YES" we had OPEN World PVP System which was actually the best End game content IMO for PVP. Instead of fixing the stability and performance issue they decided to get rid of the whole system.  Oh don't worry they sold the game with Trailer after Trailer with Open world PVP at it focus.  This was a period where guild actually had fun and flourish.

I'm sorry that link does not support your debate you kind of of shot your own argument down.  Base off the link YOU provided  the game has increase it population month after month that is not a decline. The F2P model is working so we have to give them credit for that at least.

However, You're correct 7.0 was not received very well with some of the player base myself included.  But that due to lack of quality that is expected from Star Wars Storytelling/ Lack of innovation when it come to FP/OPS/PVP/ Lack of Creativity with the Reskin of old armor set from the base game and calling them "NEW"

Again, said this in other post them getting rid of that story base FP and going back to old style was a great move they just need to revert to doing what brought them to the dance in the first place.  Now all they have to do is get rid of this KOTFE storytelling and go back to Individual Class Stories.  IMO.

Did devs truly abandon the whole idea because somebody told them GSF has a few bugs?

Error with displaying medals is just that-they don't get displayed  on the  scoreboard correctly. They still get counted correctly when it comes to seasons or conquest objectives, achievements etc! It is an absolute non issue when it comes to the big picture. Scoreboard of the ground pvp is much more messed up atm. So maybe ground pvp should be removed from seasonal pvp as well?

Sorta, They abandon the idea because people called them out on how deluded they have been with GSF development since it was release. Last Update Content for the system was about 2016 (could be wrong I'll look the date later and edit it in) People are frustrated because they have been providing feedback for years in the GSF forums and have been ignored by the development team.

They forget they have many other game modes in the game that require their attention. They could clearly add GSF to the PVP development cycle they just choose not too.  Just like they can add Uprising to the FP Development cycle.

  21. @Faltun and @WayOfTheWarriorx You both make really valid points.  The easy fix for this would for them to go back to the expertise system. This allowed them to balance PVE without unbalancing PVP.  I think everyone believes the classes need changes but the problem I have is that they only buff DPS while Healing and Tank class continue to get destroyed Content Update after Content Update.

Also, Don't think it okay to go after post counts. Doesn't matter if someone has 4k post or 1 post. everyone opinion matters and deserved to be heard.

Then why you post to a topic if you have no idea about it. Based on what your brother do or say.... my brother and my sister play this and that spec so i know they re weak or strong, they need a buff or debuff..... just simply wtf... Simply just post to the things you know the basics of... You re showing the problems of internet era, ppl post things and go in arguments they dont even know anything about, because the internet give them the tools to do so, this is not good, be smart and post about things you know about.

Just because they don't play the class doesn't mean they don't know anything about that class. I don't personally play Sentinel but I know the in and out of the class because I study the class to know the rotations and their buff animation and the burst cycle so that I can live while fighting them. I've help train members in my guild on how to play their class without it even being my main class.

SWTOR is on the verge of collapse? Keep talken about how well you know the game.

Yes, check the population charts, it reduced drasticly with 7.0 game is on life support and they dont even have resources to put out contents properly. On fleet its hard to find grps, removed ranked, On gtn and trade chat hard to find stuff, pop times are long. I think its pretty clear for everyone SWTOR has some serious population problems and yeah once its not worth for them, they re gonna shut down the servers forever.

The game been on the decline for years ever since they brought out KOTFE.  Of course it has had some spikes in population during some content update.  The RP community and the Stream Partnership really saved the game. I wouldn't say the game going to collapse. The game still bring into billions of dollars each fiscal cycle it just they don't use their time and money wisely in my opinion.

    but back on topic:

We all just want to see the game flourish again.

They're gonna run this game, their way, according to their vision, and do what they think is fiscally best for the game and that which will make them the most profit.

Incorrect. Old Republic revenue for the quarter ending March 31, 2023 was $1.759B, a 20.3% decline year-over-year. If 20% Decline is a proof of their bad vision.

I would love to see more races added. - I only play one character, but I would love it if they made wookies a playable race and even I would make a new character to play one. Rodians, droid player option, Hammer-heads (Ithorians), Jawas, Ewoks, Devorians, Gamorrians, Weequeys, there are so many classical Star Wars races that could be added that would peak the interest of so many players, but, its not going to happen.

I think those would be amazing additions if they added them.

You have to be realistic. They just don't have the resources for it. People have been asking for new races to be added for years (myself included), there are a 1000 strings on the forums about it, but they all meet with the same fate. - Nada.

They have the resources they choose to use it in the wrong way.

But I agree with your post.

    @EricMusco  @BryantWood

This needs to be said, how come you had no idea of the state of GSF good or bad before this. The game mode is on the same importance of PVP and people have brought the issues up before in the forums. Are you not checking the GSF forums? Does no one in the team play GSF? This is a red flag for any gaming company to have no idea of the state of an entire game mode.  But why is it okay to just shove off the dedicated playerbase. GSF has not been touch in almost eight years, and apparently not a single dev cares to read anything about it.

So what now, are we just suppose to wait until you finally give GSF something or address anything with it? It's hard enough to get you to address other problems in other game modes.  I have read recently that the R4 operation is still riddle with bugs that make it unplayable (such as the player's health bar appearing dead to others when there alive bug) to this day almost a year later, so what are the changes any of the gsf problems get fix, even the minor ones? Not good I imagine.

Again what a terrible way to treat your playerbase. You create a thread, get the GSF players happy, then two days later you write them off, with no apology written of the bad handling of this whole situation.

You know what the worse part is? That the players just asked if you could fix the visual bug with medals on the scoreboard.

    Well Said... 100% Support
