  1. +1 This! 1000x this! We're not ALL rapists and child molesters who want to steal your candy. And hey Touch. Good to see you fighting the good fight.
  2. I apologize if you weren't trolling, but it appeared to me at first that you were saying what some others have said "you just want one button loot pinatas". Why I don't want just 3 other NPC companions to accompany me is that the experience just isn't the same. For example, I love the game Left 4 Dead. Being able to roam through a town with four friends, strangers, or any other kind of people killing the **** outta zombies was an absolute blast. Of course, I would run into some idiots online who would do stupid things, but when it was fun, it was REALLY fun! Same can be said for WoW and it's LFD. Sure I've had **** groups, but like Touchbass said, a vast majority have been great or even amazing. And I want that same experience in SWTOR. That's all. I'm not asking for the *********** moon or for SWTOR to become a sandbox game. I just would like things to be a LITTLE bit easier to get into a group for GROUP PVE content.
  3. Troll post is trolling. And, ummm, Companions? NPC's that help EVERYONE clear content.
  4. This is the cutest/sweetest/most-innocent post for an anti-LFD I've seen yet. And I almost don't want a LFD just to keep you in your little bubble of fun and joy. Except for the fact that if YOU get to keep your type of gameplay (which WON'T go away, will just become harder), I will NEVER get to run a Flashpoint....ever. For all the reasons people pro-LFD have said and more (unless I run them solo when I out level them). So basically, you want me to never group with people, never see Flashpoints and never have a chance at Operations in order to keep those "old-school" interactions that don't actually exist anymore in any real way. Thanks! (and the *********** EQ boats sucked).
  5. Believe me when I say I feel your FRUSTRATION and ANGER. But I don't believe Bioware is closing other threads about LFG to shut down the COMMUNITY. I believe it's because they just want to keep the boards organized. This way they have one nice LONG thread about the NEED for LFD and where we can VENT as much and for as long as needed. So PLEASE keep posting here everyday you don't get a Flashpoint group or some similar problem. We need to keep the PRESSURE up! (Sorry for all the smilies, have to keep myself sane somehow)
  6. Yep just another reason to add a LFD. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=184796&page=11 Also, this is totally just my opinion, but from what I've seen, a LOT of people haven't even run any of the "old" Flashpoints. It's ALL new to me.
  7. Found this great comment on videogamer.com (http://www.videogamer.com/pc/star_wars_the_old_republic/news/what_bioware_has_planned_for_star_wars_the_old_republic.html): "One thing they need to do is make grouping for Heroics - Instances - easier, at the mo you have to semi-spam general chat or hang around the entrance like a street walker :0(" Perfect analogy to the current system. Gotta sit in front of the instances, hike up my skirt, put on a tube top, and walk up to people's speeders: "Hey baby, need a good time? I've got 2k dps. And I'm Biochem so I can keep the party going ALL NIGHT."
  8. Afternoon Touch! Doing well, and you? Can't wait to log in and attempt to get a FP. lol j/k I've given up on getting FP runs at this point.
  9. Maybe I've been on these forums too much lately and the paranoia is kicking in, but it almost seems like the people who are against LFD really want SWTOR to fail. Like a concerted effort to make it less successful than WoW. Maybe because it's 4am and I need sleep after playing for hours straight (and hitting level 10 and wishing I could queue for Esseles immediately ).
  10. Yay! Maybe these forums can now be about what this game IS (theme park/similar to WoW) and not what it isn't (crap pile that was Galaxies). Please take all the other Galaxies/sandbox fanboys with you and attempt to make/play a lasting game of that genre. Or maybe you can turn you praise to GW2 for now, until it releases, and then you can whine about that one, too.
  11. Glad to know you are one of the lucky ones. But for some of us others, it is in no way 5-10 minutes, in either SWTOR or WoW and there is no guarantee the dungeon/flashpoint will be finished in any reasonable time frame, let alone finished at all.
  12. Here's a possible solution: With WoW's new LFR they created a new tier of raid content for us "newb/lazy/carebear" people. Maybe Bioware can do the same for Flashpoints/Operations. Keep Normal and Hard modes for us "carebear/lazy/newb" people and add it into a WoW-like LFD system but keep the Nightmare modes out of the system for you "social" people. That way us "newb/carebear/lazy" people can still experience the content and you "social" people can have your elite tiers to laud over us regular folks.
  13. I understand why LFG may kill your vision of community, and I'm sorry if that is the case. But here are some facts from WoW (and I use World of Warcraft because I personally love their LFD system and it is the most popular MMO). Subscriber numbers did NOT go down after LFD was introduced at the end of 2009 (though they had plateaued): http://www.kotaku.com.au/2010/02/world-of-warcraft-no-growth-since-2008/ And just as a refresher, here is a history of the whole LFG/LFD fiasco from WoW. Which it appears you want to force ALL players of SWTOR to have to go through to prove you right: http://www.wowwiki.com/Dungeon_Finder#History
  14. Ummm, no. I plan on staying with SWTOR for however long it takes until they put in a proven system similar to Wow/Rift/any-modern-MMO's LFG tool. And WoW's Dungeon Finder was SO unsuccessful, they created a whole Looking for Raid tool that does the exact thing, and according to MMO Champion, allows more people to experience content, thus more subscribers/re-subcribers/not-losing-subscribers. Source: http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/2614-Dragon-Soul-and-Firelands-Statistics-Blue-Posts-Poll Got this quote from James Ohlen “Works for established video games, (but is) not in however.” So I guess you hope SWTOR never becomes "established". Source: http://averagejoegamers.com/game/swtor-to-start-with-fifteen-flashpoints-but-most-likely-no-dungeon-finder/ Also, savagepotato, don't EVER *********** call me and people support a modern LFG tool lazy again. That is not only insulting, but plain wrong.
  15. This was the dev response from a previous version of this thread: "Improving our LFG system is high on the list of features that Systems Design wants to add to the game. We want this to be good not just for helping people find Flashpoints and Operations to run, but also other multiplayer content like heroic missions. A key emphasis will be on advertising for specific role needs (healer, tank, DPS). This feature is currently in the design stage, and once this feature has moved beyond this to a development stage and has a firm ETA, I'll be coming back to you guys to give more details. We've known we would need to revisit this feature for a while. In the level-up game, finding players isn't too rough because, with few exceptions, everyone in that level band is either on your planet or on the fleet. Once more and more players hit endgame, and are spending their time in more places, the need for this feature is going to increase. Note that right now, high level players have the opposite problem - there aren't enough other players up there to group with. This problem will dissipate as the game ages, and more players reach the later levels. That being said, our design team doesn't philosophically believe that cross-server Flashpoints are good for the game at this stage in the game's lifespan. There is huge social pressure to not be a jerk that goes away when the odds that you will never see these people again is high. I'm not saying never - there may come a time in the future where we reevaluate this - but at least in the short term, we believe this will cause more damage to the community than good." 16. Before Cataclysm, questing out in the world was one of the worst chores. Even after Cataclysm and the "newness" of the questing zones faded and when more info on how cool SWTOR's questing would be, all I ever did was run LFD groups in WoW. It actually made a part of that very old game fun again, especially since I never saw any of the old dungeons pre-LFD due to having such a hard time finding groups.
  17. These "community" supporters are not only like religious people, cannot see logic and inevitibility to save their life. But they are like bad tv movie high school football players and cheerleaders. Only "the chosen few" can play football or make it on the cheer squad and **** those damn non-jocks who dare want to play the game, too! I like being the most popular kids in the school and Bioware better not take away my elite status!
  18. And on the topic of Ambient sounds, why is the player Speeder sound effect connected to the Ambient sound volume? I like to play with my Ambient sound effect at max with everything else turned down low, especially Sound Effects. I expected the character Speeder sound effect to be included in the Sound Effects channel, but when I turned down Sound Effects, the Speeder sound remained annoyingly loud. So I turned down the other sound volumes and found it was tied to the Ambient sounds, which seemed strange to me, as a Speeder sound isn't technically ambient (I think of ambient as the sound of wind going through creaking trees, crickets at night, etc.). Maybe this is tied to the ambient speeder sounds on Coruscant? If so, could we please have our characters Speeder sound effect moved to the Sound Effects volume channel, please? Thank you.
  19. Couldn't agree more, Curather. I know Bioware mentioned in their post about making the LFG tool for Heroic areas, as well, and I think Rift's Automatic Public Grouping might be a good solution. Just put me in a group if I'm near the Heroic area or have the quest in my log and then I can decide if I want to do the content or not.
  20. +1 And then some. Thank you! /1:General: Looking For Flashpoint/Operation Finder Tool! Edited to add: Holy crap Touchbass! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For doing what I was too frustrated to do. Put together all of the arguments against LFD and killing them dead with logic. You are my hero! +1million for you. Please devs listen to Touchbass and give us what we NEED, and what any modern MMO should have. (also ty Touchbass for mentioning the mentally ill in your list of people who play MMO's. The Dungeon/Raid Finder in WoW allowed me to bypass my Social Anxiety and actually play group content, and in fact, has helped me gain some sense of personal accomplishment by engaging other people in conversation and completing objectives with them.)
  21. Not sure where you're getting your evidence about "social pressure". A good vote to kick option in WoW's LFD tool is enough social pressure I need to get rid of ninja's and griefers. Also, why don't you just skip the interim of only having a single-server LFD system. Because as soon as you release this, queue times are going to be crazy long (especially on low-pop servers you wanted people to join after long login queue times), people will be up in arms on forums, you will then make cross-server LFD/Battlegrounds and all will be well. Would be nice to avoid the "people yelling on forums" step, but oh well. Glad to see you're "addressing" this issue and can't wait to see it fully implemented in two years to the polished version WoW currently has.
  22. I understand that a Looking for Flashpoint or Flashpoint Finder system (ala Dungeon Finder in World of Warcraft) is a divisive subject for the SWTOR community. But Devolore from Tankspot puts together a logical argument of why a Dungeon Finder system may partially hurt community, but in the long run is better for gameplay. It's a long-ish video (13 minutes) but worth watching for an elegant argument that applies to SWTOR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amkywcdK1RI&feature=uploademail
