  1. Level 51/56 mods are around 27k-30k to remove if I remember right.
  2. Personally, I have no ammo management problems as a lvl 50 Vanguard tank specced. Remember, your ammo regen rate reduces as you get lower on ammo. I rarely go below 70% ammo unless we really need to max DPS on a target. You don't need to use all your skills to maintain aggro and you aren't there for DPS. In most boss fights, after a few minutes I can hold aggro on a single target using nothing more than Neural Jolt, I don't even need damage to maintain threat. The only skills I really use when tanking bosses are: Ion Pulse (Not often) Sticky Grenade (Not often) Smoke Grenade Storm (to initiate) Stock Strike HIB Explosive Round Energy Blast (to regen, I spam a few skills just as it comes up) Crit Chance and other boosting skills when needed.
  3. The problem at that level is you tend to have more DPS boosting talents available rather than tanking ones, so as a tank you are a little less effective. At lvl 50 I am using this build and have successfully tanked all HM. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801G0GrdorogzZMsbZb.1
  4. And all the time they are healing they are not dealing damage, whereas the other player is, it still balances out.
  5. Alot of PUG groups are just bad, they are all single mindedly trying to get medals anything else is irrelevant to them. If you are the only one on the left point then you are right, even if you are two /one down on points you still never leave your one point undefended. I do it all the time because people always leave it empty!

    Poor vanguard...

Total garbage. A shield spec tank will loose to most classes if they have any idea what they are doing, they have very low DPS and the tanking stats are ignored / mitigated by alot of attacks. A DPS spec Vanguard is another matter, they have pretty much the same tankiness (using Ion Cell to boost armor, as thats the majority of the tank in PvP) but significantly increase the DPS aspect. As others have said, tanks are only hard to take down if they have a pocket healer and that healer is left alone.=
  7. Correct, in beta you had to use the item stations to mod, well the earlier beta's anyway. And yet you are still here and still subbed!
  8. Quest side is fine, PvP side is fine, I only have slideshows when there are alot of characters on screen.
  9. No probs, this is my personal recommendation and by no means the be all and end all of PSUs. However, I would always go for a quality unit by a manufacturer like Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, OCZ or Seasonic (Seasonic actually make alot of the Corsair units). I also prefer single +12v rails units as they are less likely to waste power. The reason for that many things in the system draw power of varying amounts (the GPU is normally the single biggest power draw), but each item must take all its power from one rail. So, in a multiple rail unit it can work as below (simplified numbers). +12v rail 1 = 18 amps +12v rail 2 = 18 amps +12v rail 3 = 18 amps 2x GPU draws 15 amps each CPU draws 7 amps Fans draw 6 amps HDD draws 6 amps The total draw of that system is 49 amps and you have a total of 54 amps which would seem enough. But, when you break it down to parts drawing from specific rails: +12v rail 1 - GPU 1 (15) which leaves 3 amps +12v rail 2 - GPU 2 (15) which leaves 3 amps +12v rail 3 - CPU (7), Fans (6) which leaves 5 amps There is no rail that can happily provide the 6 amps for the fans, but they will still try and draw that power which would overload the PSU, it would probably work for a while OK but it would age alot quicker and is far more likely to fail. HOpe that makes sense You should be aiming for a PSU that can power your system, with the system at full load and the PSU being at about 70% - 80% (Max) of its capability. This will help prolong the life of the PSU (they all age and as they age their output will reduce). As a guide I use here to help me work out what I need. Put in all the information about your system, fans, peripherals, USB devices etc. Set the capacitor aging to 10% for a new PSU and click calculate. It will give you a recommended wattage at the top, I usually go for 1 or 2 sizes above that to give me some head room for expansion etc. Your right, I have put quite a bit of info about rails etc because it is VERY relevant. Luckily, in the vast majority of cases the above examples don't happen as long as you buy a quality unit. However, people often buy cheap and the factors above are the biggest cause of failed cheap PSUs. Ignoring it doesn't make the facts go away.
  10. The quality of the unit itself and the available amps on the +12v rail(s) are far more important than just wattage.
  11. I can see where you are coming from, however if its something that only a minority will even notice then I would have to say that, in the big scheme of things, its probably right at the bottom of any priority list. My system (1st gen i5, 4gb ram, gtx460 and Win7 Home Premium 64bit) can run Ops maxed out with absolutely no noticeable stutter. I rarely go to Ilum though as I get a slideshow there with everything on minimum lol. Ilum is the only place I have any problems and only when there are big fights going on.
  12. I haven't actually checked the FPS itself, ill have to have a look. But I can say with 100% certainty that I do not have any noticeable FPS issues in any OPs I have done (8 or 16 man at 1920x1080 with everything maxed) and my machine isn't that good. To me, thats fine, FPS isn't as much of an issue in a MMO as it is in something like an FPS, as long as the game runs smoothly for me I am happy with it.
  13. Have to agree, the single most overlooked component in most PCs is the PSU, when in reality it is actually one of the most important to get right.
  14. People have just become too accustomed to very unmoderated or at best very poorly moderated forums. The moderation on here has been quite harsh by comparison, which I am not against in the slightest. If people are sensible, calm and think about their posts (which would get their point across so much better anyway), then in general they will have nothing to worry about.
  15. Out of interest, have you actually checked your log and wallet when you respec? I ask because the pop box that tells you the cost never changes or resets, however the actual cost does reset weekly and you get a message in your chat box telling you the cost was 0 credits (for example) even though the pop up box told you it was going to be 50k.
  16. There is alot of CC in the game in general, however I am pretty sure every class doesn't have a 8 sec stun and those that do are all broken by damage, so if you have a DoT applied it would be wasted. They are generally useful for trying to keep a specific target totally out of a fight, but they aren't much use in actual combat unless you are trying to escape.
  17. I read the whole topic, have been in that situation and have beaten it using exactly that ... stuns and knockbacks. It's not easy but it can be done. If you have a good tank healer combo, even the 4 man option you stated above, the easy option is to rush another turret (Alderaan), switch doors (Voidstar) those four people can't cover everything regardless how 'good' they are. If you don't attack them they are no use whatsoever. If you already have 2 turrets, then you just hold those two. There is ALWAYS a solution to a given problem as long as that problem is realistic. There is no 'god mode' that I have come across in TOR yet, yes there are some very efficient setups that are extremely good in certain scenarios, but the likelyhood of every possibility being covered within a single PUG warzone is incredibly remote. Personally, I think the biggest problem is the sheer volume of players that are totally incapable of adapting (that comment isn't targetted at anyone here before the flaming starts). Ive lost track of the number of times I see people continually rolling into a heavily defended turret or door in ones and twos and getting totally facerolled, rather than the 'team' (key word there ... team) switching quickly to the other door / turret.
  18. \/ \/ \/ Or knockbacks to seperate the tank and healers, guard only has a 15m range, it really isn't that hard to disrupt it.
  19. That is the guestimate I would make aswell, seems the most likely.
  20. I wouldn't give you MVP either, because you got enough medals etc on your own. I give it to people that I have noticed being really helpful but have not managed to get much in the way of medals for it.
  21. Having read alot about resolve over the last couple of months I think there are a number of factors that contribute to peoples thinking that it doesn't work: 1) Not understanding how resolve works. 2) Thinking their CC breaker gives immunity. 3) You never actually notice the CC that your are immune to (because it has no effect), so people don't necessarily notice any immunity they may have and just assume nobody has tried to CC them. 4) Not realising that the immunity doesn't apply to all types of CC. The system is far from perfect IMO, I also believe that all CC should effect resolve but to varying degrees dependant on the type.
