  1. Gambling would be if you could give up CC in order to have a chance at winning CC. Or it would be giving up some CM item in order to have a chance at some other CM item. You have the risk of losing what you gave up and not getting anything.

The CM packs are more like Trading Card Packs: you have a certain chance of getting a certain card, but you are guaranteed to get something.

EDIT: OP mentions on pg 2 that he just wants the odds posted. This is fine: post something in the Suggestion box.

  2. I've worked as a professional software developer since 1984, so I understand there will be bugs upon release, and they are often of the nature that they can be fixed quickly and easily, even if they are annoying to the customer base for a couple of days.

But to minimize this frustration, can BW please implement hot fixing? Something like items missing from the vendors, and the final boss of the Dread Palace operation are exactly the kinds of bugs and fixes I would expect can be done via a hot fix. I know that that OTHER big MMO has this tech, and it really is nice from a player stand point.

*Looks at 2.4.0a patch and patch notes and then back at post*

Isn't 2.4.0a a hot fix? It is a small update that came out 2 days after 2.4 and addresses multiple bugs with the update. Most of them are mentioned in your post.

In fact, all the updates with a letter after them are hot fixes.

EDIT: If you are talking about server-side only hot fixes, I only know of a few programs that are not internet browser based that do this. And some of them run into bigger problems when they release a server-side fix instead of the problems of just forcing the client to download a small patch.

  3. If it is happening in the Warzones and Fleet, it is probably due to lag from the server. Check your internet connection.

Don't know about Flashpoints. Some parts of some Flashpoints always slow down my FPS: one good example is the fight at the end of The Foundry.

  4. Yeah I found him too hard in 72's as deception. DoT method would work well but we really don't have any super useful ones. I just avoided him as he wasn't worth actually killing unless he drops a title or something?

You think he's tough though, wait til you meet Lucky on Corellia heh.

Lucky is different: he is marked as a World Boss.

I do think that this has a point though: Lucky is meant to be avoided on Corellia. I believe the champions in the other Dread Seed areas are also meant to be avoided.

  5. Hey there Bstr,

After double checking, there have not been any changes to the level 50 FP gear drops; these bosses have always had a chance but not guarantee for Black Hole gear.

However, just in case there's something very awry that we're missing, I'll leave this thread open and keep an eye out for others to report if they're seeing that drops have changed since 2.4.

    Thanks for the response.

I guess I've always been lucky in level 50 HM Flashpoints to always get Black Hole pieces from bosses before now. The patch notes from 2.0 made it sound like all that bosses dropped were Black Hole pieces.

EDIT 10/4: Just did a Kaon Under Siege run last night: all the gear was Black Hole gear. I guess we were unlucky on the HM The Foundry run.

  6. My answers in Green

that require Oricon Ops tokens, and they're low tier items.

    Ain't that weird?

No, Dread Guard items require tokens from HM lvl 50 Operations, not Oricon Ops. As stated above, the new tier is Dread Forged, not Dread Guard. Dread Guard gear came out in 1.6 with Section X and the Dread Guard.

Elite, and Basic Gear vendors are missing the main stat/power/surge earpieces.

Slight oversight. Most of the PvE vendors on the PTS did not have anything on them, so people could not test this. Post this in the bug forums.

Ops vendors have worse items than the elite vendors.

If you are talking about the Ultimate gear vendor and not talking about stat distribution, then you are wrong. Ultimate gear vendors have the same gear rating or better than elite gear vendors. The set of gear that had no set bonus on the Ultimate gear vendors was moved down to the elite gear vendors and are now purchasable with elite comms. Read the Patch Notes.

Basic gear vendors on fleet have 69 gear, but the basic gear vendors on Oricon have 66 gear.

If this is true, this is a bug. Report it on the Bug Forum.

Isotope-5 is missing from the vendor.

Mentioned as a bug and will fix soon.

The Oricon solo chain took about an hour to finish.

It is essentially a set of dailies. All of the other dailies take about 1 hour to 90 minutes to complete. I believe that most of the planetary chains (except Makeb) could be completed in an hour if you skip all side quests.

Preview is broken on the GTN, and crafting panels.

    Not anymore.

This patch was a great one, but was not perfect and had some bugs.

  7. You want to PUG HM / NiM OPs through the groupfinder!?

You got a death wish or something? :p

I believe that the GF only allows for SM Ops.

I also have this problem on my healers and DPS: I always have the GF for Ops on all the time except after 9 PM on weeknights and rarely get a hit.

  8. my friend bought a weekly pass, still cant do rankeds,

it says xxxxxx cant be queued since the group is not queued....

F2P couldn't do Ranked Warzones in the past, so I'm guessing that they can't do Ranked Arenas now.

I believe that this is one of the reasons Ranked Warzones did not work: more than half of the player base could not do them.

  9. No I don't think you understand the issue. The *date* for the update in the launcher is 9/17. My subscription status on *this* site says Hutt Cartel, too, suggesting I'm not playing the newest patch.

In addition, when I load the game, the loading screen is for Hutt Cartel, and the little menu in the lower left corner also shows this.

I don't think it installed the latest patch when I re-downloaded the game.

Last, the launcher doesn't say ST in the lower left corner, suggesting that Bitraider isn't turned back on.

The date is for the Patch Notes currently displayed on the Launcher. It has nothing to do with what patch you have installed. Last night, after I had patched the game, it also said that the most recent Patch Notes was 9/17 too, If you restart the Launcher now, BioWare just fixed it so that the Patch Notes displayed is the correct one.

The loading screen is always going to be the Hutt Cartel until 3.0. (unless you change it with swapping out the loading screen file.) The menu in the lower left corner is either just stating that you can see the RotHC credits or that you currently have RotHC access. You account says that you have RotHC access.

Yes, if the launcher does not say "ST" in the lower left corner then you are not using BitRaider.

To tell if you have the latest patch, do the following:

    1. Start the Launcher. If it is running, close it first and restart it.
    2. Sign in.
    3. Wait until the "Play" button lights up.
    4. Click the "Play" button.
    5. If the server selection screen comes up, select your server.
    6. When the character selection screen comes up, select a character.

If you can do the above, then you have the latest patch installed. (Step 5 may not happen for you: this is OK: the system most of the time remembers which server you were on last and skips this step.) This is an MMO: they will not let you play if you do not have the latest patch.

  10. The purpose of this game is to not waste your time sitting around in the Cantina and actually do something.

Cantinas already give 2x XP after resting in them for a certain amount of time. They also sell certain stims and items to help you quest.

Now, I support having more vendors in the Cantinas with different items so that we go to them more often. I don't support making people wait there while a queue pops to get a boost.

PS: There is a Suggestion Box above that this belongs in.

  11. I've made a post on a similar thread about which Advance Class to choose: (quote is reduced to fit this scenario)

If you are going off of playstyle, here are a good set of questions to ask yourself:

1: Mostly ranged class (over 10 m away) or melee?

A: Ranged: Only choice of AC out of the 4 is
    Inquisitor Sorcerer
. Similar character from the movies: Emperor / Darth Sidious

    B: Melee: Continue:

2: Stealthy and have a good set of moves at 10 m or direct approach and have to be in their face to do decent damage?

A: Stealthy and have a good set of moves at 10 m:
    Inquisitor Assassin
. Similar character from the movies: Darth Maul

B: Direct approach and can't be outside of melee range to do damage: Continue:

3: Less squishy without using defensive moves and have still have decent DPS or more squishy but have moves to make you near invincible for short periods of time and have great DPS:

A: Less squishy overall and have still have decent DPS:
    Warrior Juggernaut
. Similar character from the movies: Darth Vader

B: More squishy and have great DPS:
    Warrior Marauder
. Not really a similar character from the movies. The closest is that an Annihilation spec Marauder is somewhat similar fighting style to Count Dooku but without any Force Lightning and lots more jumping.
  12. Hello, this is my first post on the SWTOR forum.

Yesterday I ran into the issue where I had to reinstall the whole game. I used the method of turning Bitrader off in the config file and the game has finished downloading and installing.

However, it says patch date 9/17/13, so it's not the latest patch. What steps should I take to make it update to the latest version?

    Any help is appreciated.

It is the latest patch if you can play the game. The notes are currently messed up on the Launcher. The real patch notes are at http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/2.4.0/dread-war

PS: In the future, if you need any help, there is a forum dedicated to helping players: New Player Help. Posts that ask for help in the General Discussion tend to get lost.

EDIT: See the Bug Report about the patch notes on the Launcher being messed up here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=684624 .

  13. Never seen any of this states...

Here you go. Simple Google Search found it. It was old enough that the SWTOR search did not find it.

Character customization will not allow for players to switch their gender. Although this seems like a simple appearance change there are a lot of factors tied to gender in our game. Gender affects everything from gear selection all the way to companion romance and dialogue choices throughout the game.

    Hope that answers your question!

  14. This has troubled my mind for a while now and I can't find an answer from anywhere.

I often inspect high level players and look at their gear and most of them have a set going on. Not always full but some parts of it. Let's take an example.

I see someone collecting the War Leader's Gear. I hover my cursor on one of the items to look at the gear list because I want to see how many he/she has of the set.

    "War Leader's Gear 3/5

    Underworld War Leader's Body Armor

    Underworld War Leader's Headgear

    Eradicator's Boots

    Underworld War Leader's Gloves

    Underworld War Leader's Greaves"

From 2.0 Patch Notes (underlining is mine.)

    Set Bonuses

All set bonuses are now stored exclusively on Armoring mods instead of equipment shells. Players will now be able to transfer set bonuses shells between equipment shells by simply moving the Armoring mod. The rules are as follows:

    • Set bonuses can be extracted from a shell by removing the Armoring mod.
    • While Armoring mods are not applied to any items, they retain their extracted set bonus.
    • When Armoring mods with a set bonus are placed in another item of the same type(Chest, Legs, Head, etc), the set bonus will then applies to that piece of armor. Modified gear with a set bonus applied will receive a notification when attempting to overwrite the Armoring mod with another Armoring mod with a set bonus. If confirmed, the new mod's set bonus will overwrite the original set bonus.

Pay attention to the underlined part: you can only put Armoring into the same type of item. For example, you cannot put a helmet Armoring into a chest piece.

  15. I did a run of Hard Mode The Foundry last night for the HK Loyalty Chip. None of the bosses dropped Black Hole pieces. Instead, they dropped Artifact Quality [Prototype] level 50 gear like they did before 2.0. We did have 2 Campaign relics drop and all bosses dropped Classic Commendations, but none of the Black Hole gear.

I ran multiple Hard Mode Flashpoints last weekend and all the bosses either dropped a Campaign relic or Black Hole gear.

EDIT: HM False Emperor gave [Prototype] gear on some bosses and Black Hole gear on others

    From the 2.0 Patch Notes:

    Flashpoints

    General

    • Level 50 Flashpoint bosses now drop Black Hole pieces.

If this change was intended, please indicate it in the Patch Notes.

  16. 2. Ah ok. What happens if I drop a skill and then go back to it at a later point? Would it start where I'd left off, or at 0?

I'm not really that interested in crafting because of my experiences with crafting as leveling in other games (WoW & GW2), where I was never able to keep the crafting skill high enough to actually gear myself... at least not without buying mats and over-leveling the crafting skill.

Looks like I'd be better off with 3 gathering skills, which I suspected.. but things I wanted to check. Looks like time to ditch the mission skill I had picked up (Diplomacy... which was useless to me since I'm going light side, and all missions offered were dark side... doh!).

You start over with that skill at level 0.

With the exception of Artifice, Biochem, and Cybertech, I use crafting skills for gearing up my companions and alts. These three mentioned crafting skills make rare items: Artifice makes weapon crystals, Biochem makes implants, and Cybertech makes earpieces.

Diplomacy offers both light side and dark side missions. What missions you see at a given time is random and resets every so often (or if you logoff.) Diplomacy also gives materials use in Biochem.

I suggest quickly reading over the Crew Skill guide at http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=530 . There is also a guide on what Crew Skill to get with which class at http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=132015 .

  17. Oh that's interesting.. And that changes things quite a bit actually. You can "flag" yourself for PvP on the RP-PVE server? I had no idea :) Do many people do this? It's kind of like in SWG then, forced open-world pvp or flagged has never much mattered to me, much.

On Jung Ma, an RP-PvP server, lots of people flag themselves for PvP (even though it doesn't matter.) Don't know about PvE servers now; back during the Beta, not very many people flagged themselves on a PvE server.

  18. Go to http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=132015 and look for you companion to see what crew skill you should choose. All crew skills are good for various reasons for questing. None give you a boost to finding codexes.

    In summary,

    k. Overall Summary

    Best at crew skill combos:

    Artifice: Sith Inquisitor (7)

    Synthweaving: Sith Inquisitor (7)

    Armstech: Trooper & Smuggler (7)

Armormech: Trooper & Bounty Hunter (7)

    Biochem: Imperial Agent (7)

    Cybertech: Smuggler (7)

Profit: Trooper, Smuggler, Sith Inquisitor, Imperial Agent, & Bounty Hunter (7)

For Artifice, Consulars are a close second. For Synthweaving, Warriors and Consulars are a close second. For Biochem, Knights are a close second.

I chose / am choosing the following to get the best setup:

Artifice: Jedi Consular (If my Imp Agent was a sniper, I would choose Knight here.)

Synthweaving: Sith Warrior (If my Imp Agent was a sniper, I would choose Jedi Consular here._

    Armstech: Trooper

    Armormech: Bounty Hunter

Biochem: Knight (going heals for Imperial Agent, so I don't need Biochem for him. If I was going Sniper, I might choose this for him.)

    Cybertech: Smuggler

Profit/Slicing: Sith Inquisitor and Imperial Agent (I would replace my Agent with Warrior here if he was a Sniper.)
