  1. Yeah, on my inquisitor he kept making references about how awesome they are together, and how great things were "the other night". Meanwhile I'm scratching my head wondering what drugs he's on, cause my inq keeps telling him to get lost. Definitely a bug. I think it has something to do with the influence system.
  2. The light side options really do seem to be at odds with the overall story and feel of the character. I think, however, you could do a playthrough as a sith who respects strength and the superiority of the sith, but not to the excessive extent of relishing bloodshed. Having a code of honor where you don't kill needlessly, respect defeated foes for having the courage to face you, etc. That could eventually lead to a full light side sith warrior, but I think it's definitely not the intended path of the writing.
  3. I'm not 100% on my lore, but didn't Revan go down the middle path for quite awhile?
  4. Wasn't that exactly what sparked Bane to kill off so many sith on the first place, and create the rule of two? Because all that was happening was that the sith were getting weaker as cowards either waited for a moment to exploit, or ganged up, before challenging someone stronger. Those actions were, over time, creating weaker and weaker sith as strength and knowledge were replaced by cowards and fools who valued titles and position more than true power.
  5. I noticed the cosmetic options were atrocious, too. I think maybe the sith could have benefited from more jewelry options or tattoos or something.
  6. In the past, every time I tried to make a female sith warrior I could never seem to get past character creation. I kept messing with settings, but wasn't ever satisfied with how any of the different faces looked. They always looked either half started or overly masculine. But now, having come back from a six month break from the game, I've been going through and finishing off all the different story lines to chapter 3. I did a neutral Imperial Agent(zabrak), a full light Sith Sorc(twilek), and a mostly light side Bounty Hunter(chiss). They're all female, with no romancing going on because it just didn't feel like it fit any of the characters with the way the voice actors portrayed the choices I made over the playthrough. In each case it really felt like the voices really fit the appearance and the actions(except for the BH which seemed like it might have been intended for a human instead of one of the aliens). So now I'm back to the final imperial story: the sith warrior. I tried a light side cyborg female up til Tatooine, but it just didn't feel like the character made sense. The voice didn't fit the face or the actions. So I decided to give the True Blood another shot, and for some reason it seems to be working this time. Full darkside using a mix of arrogance, cruelty, and a twisted sense of honor. I picked a face with a more severe look to it instead of trying for classic beauty(since that's not really a thing that the sith faces can do). I'll edit pics into the post after work. I'm not even really sure what my point is here, other than how I wanted to share my surprise at how well the combination worked out, despite my misgivings. I've always been more of a good guy/paragon/light side when it comes to role-playing decisions in games like these. But when I forced(excuse the pun) myself to go with the dark path, it fit the character so well that I didn't mind. Of you haven't already done it, give the darkside female sith warrior a try. Like me, you might end up enjoying it more than you expected. EDIT: Two different styles: http://i.imgur.com/0AGKeXF.png http://i.imgur.com/0K07L2o.png
  7. I'm definitely thinking in terms of someone who's subbed for at least a single month, but in all likelihood won't maintain the sub indefinitely.
  8. So....literally at every turn my sorc has turned down, insulted, and otherwise rejected Andronikos, and yet somehow every time his quests pop up the game acts like the two characters are in a romance. This doesn't make any sense at all. Broken as hell, and wrecking the immersion and continuity of the story(unless it's supposed to be some kind of weird backwards relationship?!) Anyone else having problems with the game flagging their characters as being in romances that they clearly arent?
  9. Thanks, this is the kind of advice I was looking for. I've done a little research on my own, but it's always good to see the opinions of others on the subject. I've got a few more questions, since I've never done something like this before: If I understand correctly, can friends of mine who are not subscribers send me their credits so I can use them to purchase items off the GTN for them? For instance, if an account wide unlock costs 3m credits on the GTN, can I buy it then trade/mail it to them afterwords?
  10. That info appears to be out of date. Also, it's just a direct comparison of the different account types, which isn't what I was asking about. I was asking what order you would spend in-game credits or cartel coins on upgrades for you ndivodual aspects of an account(I.E.: more character slots, legacy bonuses, access to more inventory slots, color crystals with stat bonuses, etc). Another way of looking at it: What parts of having a full account would you miss the most if you couldn't maintain the sub for some reason?
  11. The fact that each character reads the same lines is far more of a blow to the enjoyment of the story than the abandoning of the classic light vs dark themes. I stead of having that feeling of individual investment and unique approach that your character takes, it's all the same. That lessens the game in my opinion. As to where the story goes from here, that's a tough one. because Disney is in the picture, it could seriously cause issues. If they're on board with the game, the story might have to bend to their will. If Disney isn't involved, BW can do almost whatever they want since it isn't canon anyway, as long as they avoid copyright issues. Either way it will be interesting to see where they finish this Zakuul stuff. I've always been a fan of stories where people who don't like each other are forced to work together for survival.
  12. Sorry for the cumbersome title. But if you wanted to run a mostly free account, what would be the most important things you'd buy? Obviously you'd want to sub for at least a single month to unlock content, and upgrade from the base F2P to preferred status. But what next? Cosmetic only stuff isn't important, not is anything that can be unlocked within the credit cap. Given those starting points, and with a primary focus on PvE(flashpoints, operations, but not space battles or pvp) what would you buy first to make playing for free more convenient or tolerable? In before trolls: $15 for a sub isn't a sticking point for me, but it might be for a few people I'm trying to get to play.
  13. The voice acting of the original SWTOR style is the main thing that sets the game apart from other MMOs. The acting often sets the tone of the character in ways text couldn't ever do. Some characters, such as the sassy/sarcastic female sith sorc just wouldn't be the same without VA. It's one thing of the original VA wasn't available, but refusing to pay for and use them as they have in previous content is a colossal mistake, even in non-story missions. Miami t of nostalgia for older games will change that.
  14. I was going to say something similar, although with a little more tact. There are 8 different advanced classes, each with their own gameplay. If one doesn't suit you then try another. One of the biggest mistakes I see newer players make is trying to hard to pick the 'best' class, or most powerful. Don't do that! Find a class that's the most fun for you, and your own personal skill will more than make up for any slight differences on a spreadsheet that some powergamer math wizard came up with.
  15. I highly recommend against skipping to 60. Swtor has the best story and writing out of any MMO I can think of. You would be cheating yourself by not experiencing it first hand. This is on top of spending time learning the class and deciding if you like it or not. Also is the chance that later down the road you might want to switch advanced classes or faction. Save your boost to 60 for that.
  16. I started with a BH, then switched to an Agent. Mostly I just didn't want to jump on the Force User bandwagon like everyone else, and I was pleasantly surprised by the story. Once I'd been in the game awhile I started to find out that the story is SO good, that I really wanted to play everything. Another thing that Bioware has done a superb job on is making each character interesting on it's own, so it's not just the story that's good. The protagonist as as well as many of the companions each has their own addition. Overall it makes it REALLY hard to choose.
  17. I have no opinions on the classes I haven't played yet. But so far I've got a female red-skinned zabrak that's turned out extremely well. A consummate professional, totally dedicated to the empire. The facial expressions just worked out REALLY well, and the voice fits surprisingly good. She's so serious and on the job that when you do occasionally crack a joke with dry humor it's hilarious. Very much a mixed light/dark character, since decisions are based on what beat for the empire instead of what's good or evil. My second pick is a red skinned female twilek sith sorc. Pick all the snarky/sarcastic conversation choices. Mostly light side. You won't be disappointed. Lastly is a female trooper. It's kind of hard to go wrong here, and is probably the most 'iconic' of the race/class choices I made. Gives a real fem-shep feel, which isn't surprising considering it's the same voice actor. Went with the dark side for extra ruthlessness, and it worked out well. The light side of being 100% dutiful soldier was just too boring.
  18. Seems pretty straightforward to me. They want you to make a choice that matters. You figure out pretty quick if you like the playstyle or not anyway. On top of that is replay value. Play one advanced class on empire, the other on republic. Or one light side the other dark.
  19. You're wasting your words, Aiza. These guys are so locked into their way of thinking that they're not even willing to consider other possibilities. Logic is not involved.
  20. I always wish they'd just let you keep the damn mask from that quest. And I always wondered why they never went anywhere with that particular quest line. Guess they wanted to leave it alone so they could do the whole SoR expansion. That purple mask makes your character look like she's from Mortal Kombat.... ;-_-
  21. I think the Imperial Agent story is probably one of the best. It's really very good. The only other story I've played most of is the Sith Inquisitor. And the story itself isn't too great on it's own, but by playing a female character and choosing all the sassy responses, it makes everything WAY more enjoyable. Your character clearly gives no F***s about anything or anyone besides herself. And you get to brush off or trashtalk almost everyone because you're a sith. Good stuff! If the other stories and characters are even on par with these two, then I'd say it all boils down to personal preference.
  22. Since I've started playing SWTOR again in the last month, I've been in two guilds, both with over 100 members, and both where I'm often the only person online for hours at a time. Both during the day and at night after work when I spend most of my time playing. I'm on PST (GMT -7). Is this normal for SWTOR? Large guilds where hardly anyone is logged in? Are there any active guilds that operate mostly after 10pm? I'm on my second character imp-side, currently under the 7day returning player free sub time. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to go full sub or not. Likely a strong guild would be the deal breaker for me.
  23. Sounds like a classic case of a good player with a healer making a relatively weak class look good. There are always examples of this sort of thing: Players who are the exception to the rule. It's also evidence to support just how important it is to pick a class that works best for yourself, rather than simply choosing whatever happens to be FOTM.
