  1. Hi! I know that seems like a loaded question and I'm sorry. After 7.0, is there a specific ability or level that really makes Mercenary "pop" in a positive way? For either damage specs. What about the class makes it extra enjoyable to you relative to others?
  2. Yep. It would be great to play with 7 other people that actually wanted to play Huttball.
  3. There's a couple of threads complaining about it on the PvP forums. It's pretty frustrating when you have such little control of what kind of match you get in this game. Having both a deserter lockout and the inability to choose the mode isn't a fun idea.
  4. Just adding a quick opinion. I'm not sure if these get read or if this feature is even up for feedback of any kind. I genuinely don't care about winning. I have just as much fun getting stomped as I do by winning. Doesn't bother me if my team isn't wearing max'd gear or if they don't have the perfect setup for a very casual game. But, without the ability to select maps or even modes, then the penalty feels too punishing. If I could leave before the match started and not get the penalty (and then not put right back into the same match when I re-queue) then it wouldn't be an issue. I would much rather wait a bit longer in queue to get 7 other people that want to play huttball or Void Star than end up in the 10th 4v4 in-a-row or in a match where people don't want to play. Deserter Debuffs are fine in a game like WoW where you have much more control over the type of match you end up in. It's too much in this game. I would appreciate another look into this feature. Not hopeful but thought I'd at least add a voice. Thanks!
  5. Obviously. The game is easy enough to play without an AC. Dee has even posted pictures of solo'ing a Star Fortress without an AC. I don't understand the purpose of your post, sorry! Edit: I think I understand. OP asked for a character indicative of Han Solo. He didn't ask for the best Smuggler or even allude to playing the class effectively. If someone's primary concern is a Han Solo - inspired character then I would suggest playing Smuggler. I even suggested a gimped AC playstyle and an AC if OP wanted to play at "max efficiency". Since OP stated having played multiple classes, I assumed he knows the byproducts of choosing not to play with an AC (Smuggler), playing an AC with a gimped playstyle (single pistol Gunslinger), or playing an AC as intended (Scoundrel). That's why I listed all three different ways. Sorry for coming off as rude and thinking you were saying that I didn't understand what an AC is. I chose not to question OP's intelligence by saying this. Everyone knows you should pick an AC if you plan to do group content, that's why I included the Scoundrel. But, like I just edited in, OP asked what we would do if we were concerned with playing as Han Solo. I wasn't suggesting doing group content as a Smuggler, I never any mentioned group content until the recent edit. Added the edit for you and the other guy's post, though! Woo! Again, sorry if my post sounds rude! I shouldn't type while on the phone with Veteran Affairs, they always get me in a bad mood.
  6. If I was playing a character based off Han Solo, I wouldn't even pick an AC. Both the Scoundrel and the Gunslinger are too extravagant for Han Solo's character. Or! You can go with a gunslinger and use only one pistol. It would be... like an enhance basic Smuggler. Play it more like a PvP Gunslinger so that you actually keep abilities like Pistol Whip on your toolbar. Maybe try to not go into cover that often, too. I know that's an important mechanic to a Gunslinger, but the portable shield might kill the immersion and you're probably going to be using abilities like Quick Draw more often then the usual Gunslinger, anyways. For discipline, I would go Saboteur. Pick up Bowdarr, turn off System Messages in your chat settings, then start calling him Chewbacca. If you weren't planning on gimping yourself to fit the role of the character, a Soundrel Scrapper would be the better choice. A Gunslinger would work if you gimped yourself. But, if you're using two pistols and the usual rotations, the movie Han Solo feel is going to quickly go away. At least the Scoundrel Scrapper might be basic enough with it ability animations that total immersion might not be killed while doing the rotation. Even then, it's not nearly a perfect fit since a Scoundrel Scrapper is more like a bar fighter that enjoys the thrill of punching someone. Edit: To help avoid further confusion on my opinion. In priority of most "Han Solo - like" 1. Smuggler with no AC. Han Solo was a down to earth and basic character, that was his attraction. Obviously, if you want the most out of your class, you don't want to run without an AC. The game is easy enough to do this while solo (ha!) or with a group of friends, though! 2. A gimped Gunslinger using only one pistol. Your damage will obviously be lower than the average Gunslinger using two pistols, but it would be higher than a basic Smuggler. You would also get access to the Flyby AOE skill. Keeping the Han Solo feel to it, I would try to avoid using the portable shield. Due to this, I think Saboteur would be the best discipline to choose since the spec relies less on being in cover. 3. A Scoundrel Scrapper. This would be the least like Han Solo of these three options, but the most effective. This is the way I would go if I wanted to do PUG content and get the most out of the class. Of course, your character will be giggling, using a scattergun, stealth with a generator (Han Solo was sneaky, but not that sneaky), ect. Doing this, you will have deviated from Han Solo and become more of an average bar-fighting smuggler. But, you can run PUGs without opposition and will be doing more damage than the other options. Of course, you want Bowdarr as a companion!
  7. I'm on the Beregren Colony server, sadly! Just noticed I have the Dark Acolyte schematic in my storage. Dang it! That's the literal opposite of Jedi Initiate. If you preview Dark Acolyte robes on a Republic character, they show the Jedi Initiate gear in the preview. So close, yet so far! Haha. Though, that still doesn't explain if the schematic is still obtainable, unless you got yours fairly recently. I'm hopeful!
  8. That's a step closer! I figure'd they were still craftable, if you already had the schematic. A long time they removed several schematics from the game. If you had already learned the schematic or had it in your inventory, you were safe. A lot of those armors were added elsewhere, such as Supercommando having Combat Medic and PvP equivalents. I'm wondering if it's still possible to find the schematics, or if it was lost during the purge. If it was lost, is there a replacement that looks the same. That being said! I'm looking forward to you flooding the GTN with Jedi Initiate Vestments.
  9. Heya! I'm not exactly a new player, but it didn't feel right to post on GD since I'm not saying anything negative about the game. Are the schematics for the Jedi Initiate's Vestments still in the game? I know you used to be able to get them via Underworld trading, and I have a few pieces from like 2 years ago. But, I don't have the chest, and that's the piece I want. With all the changes to crafting and pushing out old schematics (such as Supercommando), I was curious is these survived the purge. Also! These are not to be confused with Force Initiate Robes, which I fear may have replaced the original schematic due to being similar levels. Thank you! Edit: A very kind forum go-er has helped me by sending a chest piece! Woo! So, this question has essentially been answered... or helped. Either way, I'm very much happy. Thank you!
  10. Thanks! I was just so tired and in a semi-rotten mood when I posted this. Apologies for the negative start of my post!
  11. Heya! I know, these suggestions are stupid and silly, and I should feel bad about posting them. I'm also aware that the odds of any of these ever happening are extremely low, and if they do happen it wouldn't be because of this thread. Aware that these would cost money and manpower that Bioware may or may not have. Final disclaimer, I'm know these ideas are largely based from other MMOs. Okay! With that out of the way. Random Suggestions: 1. A materials bank! Yep, you guessed it! The idea is from GW2, and I love it. Helps immensely with inventory and bank management and keeps everything organized. In GW2, it's account bound and wonderful. It doesn't have to be account bound in SWTOR, and they could sell Material Storage Increase on the Cartel Market. Similar to Cargo Holds, materials could be used directly from the material storage. 2. Custom Animations! Something like World of Warcraft's Legion Glyphs system. They would be cosmetic and do things such as changing the Gunnery Commando's Boltstorm animation back to Full Auto, without affecting the damage or ability. Or, maybe a modification that makes your characters stop giggling when they get a special resource. They could even sell a portable custom station (or, whatever the station would be called to add/remove ability mods) on the Cartel Market. 3. Dual Specs! Or, maybe even Tri Specs. Either way, it would just be a way to save your loadout for certain disciplines. I know, it's not hard to change a few abilities around whenever you decide to switch. But, I would still rather have my bars and such saved between the disciplines. They could even make it a subscriber thing only and/or be sold in the Cartel Market. 4. This one is a long shot, but! Instanced Nodes and Quest Nodes. I would be surprise if the engine even allows this (going to regret say that to y'all), but it would be nice to know that when I fighting a mob of enemies that the chest/quest item is guaranteed to be mine. Often I've had someone run up and ninja that node I'm fighting for. Granted, there's nothing really of value inside of them. But, it's still frustrating that it's encouraged. As for quest nodes, it would be great it there were also not on a timer or a cooldown for other people to use. Put it on the Market, I don't know. 5. This is more class specific, and to the Pyro Powertech. Thought I would just toss it in, rather than make it's own thread in the PT forums. But! Change Scorch so that it instead replaces the Flamethrower ability with a FT that deals slightly higher damage, applies Scorch's current DoT damage to all enemies hit, and has a new animation. It would be nice to use it on the move or have it not be interrupted, but that's likely asking for too much. You probably shouldn't sell this change in the Cartel Market... I get it, these are all outrageous suggestions and I should just enjoy the game the way it is. Well, I certainly do enjoy the game! Sorry for the jerk-like attitude, I've just spent too much time on the forums I guess... And, I'm pretty tired and sour, at the moment.
  12. Definitely Powertech! When specc'd Pyro, nearly every attack in the rotation has fire, the theme of the spec. Mercs are more about the explosions and missiles. One of the SoR bosses that's all about fire is also a Powertech. Very epic fight if you're a Pyro PT.
  13. This is probably going to sound silly. But! I wish they would change Scorch into an FT replacement. Keep Scorch's DoT damage, make it apply to all foes hit, and buff the base FT damage slightly. Give it a fancy new animation (like Firestorm, but even bigger!), and I would be so happy! While I'm dreaming, make it usable on the move or a trait.
  14. Heya! The title sounds kind of condescending, but that's not my intent. I'm wondering what reason made you play a certain class? Lore? Backstory? RP? Abilities? Mechanics? My main is a Pyro Bounty Hunter. She embodies what I feel would be a more realistic view of myself as far as Light/Dark. I also enjoy not being a force user, instead relying on my gadgets to overcome powerful force-using enemies while still living the simple life. And, who doesn't enjoy fire?! I love the ability animations after 3.0 hit. After 3.0 switched some abilities around for the Powertech, I knew Pyro would be my staple class, though I enjoyed the class before. Another reason, while leveling I would PvP fairly often. I had way too much fun using Grapple on unsuspecting opponents, Stealth Scan to ruin someone's plan, peppering the enemy team with IMs as I waiting for Grapple to come off CD to pull someone out of the enemy pack, hitting someone with FF, ect. It was satisfying, and surprisingly strong for not being AP. Fire! My second favorite character is my Sith Sorceress! She was created with the image of Darth Zannah, my favorite Sith. Unfortunately, SWTOR takes place before Darth Zannah's birth, so I can't really say my Sorceress is inspired by Zannah from a roleplay view. Well, I probably could and no one would say anything. Anyways! My Sorceress is Madness spec due to being imagined with Zannah. Slowly draining and outlasting her opponent by virtue of her superior mind and teachings. I also just love the style of Madness! I've always enjoyed the DoT gameplay in MMOs, so it was an even better fit for me. I'm aware that Assassin would probably be a better fit for a Darth Zannah inspired character, but the abilities and stance didn't line up the way I wanted. My Sorceress is also totally Dark side, and it's fun to play! So! What reason do you play a certain class or particularly like about your class? I wanna hear the reasons! And, read some lovely backstories.
  15. Both!! But really, Kotor 1&2 is you plan to be a jedi/sith. Especially since Kotor2 is supported by Steam now, you should go to the workshop and get the restored content mod. If you haven't played Kotor1&2, I would recommend to any Star Wars fan. Edit: Just as a "disclaimer"! I don't think SWTOR is bad, it's just that I think Kotor is great.
