  1. Well put, and another thing I don't understand why they removed was the ability to have a chance to get a single piece of gear after each daily. Before patch 1.2 not only could you grind your way to gear, but each daily gave the player a hope to earn a piece of gear that night... that not only helped the player with "hope" to not have to endure all of the long grind, but also game the players random rewards instead of a straight grind fest.
  2. I'm not sure you understand how polling and samples work. No big deal, not everyone took statistics in college, but your analogy and idealism is flawed by inaccurate knowledge on how polls and samples work.
  3. Great post, but this this this this this.... hit the nail on the head here.
  4. I understand what you are saying... but what you are saying is "exactly why we have polls".
  5. So get this... Every single class has an off hand that uses an armoring piece that is not "slot specific". Meaning you can pimp out your Mod-able belts and wrists pieces with way more expertise than that of the equivalent War Hero piece. This also allows people to keep their Raid Set Bonuses and still have War Hero armoring in them, if you put the actually slot piece of War Hero armoring, it changes the Raid armor to the War Hero set bonus. Oh wait... every single class can do this... but one... any guesses on which one gets screwed out of this ability? Smugglers/Imperial Agents
  6. I'm also surprised that force scream hasn't been fixed yet...
  7. I don't know about the pre-order stuff, but from December to January swtor broke the mmo record for most subscribing players in one month. The record broken I am referring to was a "growth" record, specifically a growth record, an after launch sales growth. If it had record pre-orders, I wouldn't be surprised, but that's not what I was referring to. I love zero punctuation. Yes, my opinion is in there... but your "however most players didn't enjoy pvp" statement has no backing, my opinion has backing. SWTOR pvp blew up, it was out of control, BioWare stated several times that their focus wasn't on PvP but due to massive response of the player base, PvP was the number 1 event players were participating it. The number 1. So, be it my opinion, and the opinion of others... MOST players DID enjoy pvp. Then when 1.2 went live on the PTS, the "overall" feedback was PvP was broken, the new purchase system was broken, and Maurs were broken. One week of PTS and patch 1.2 went live despite the complaints. My opinion is my opinion, however my opinion is on the majority side, not the minority. That's why we have polls.
  8. Hmm, people keep asking "why keep playing..." I for one stated that already in my original post, do people read the post then instantly forget what they read!? As stated by myself and few other posters, we keep playing because we know what this game "can be", and we hope and pray for that return. Some of us want to see the game succeed, and the gem it once was... well we want it back. The other thing I'm seeing a lot of is "you don't speak for a million people". Actually we do. Back before 1.2 hit, I must have read 30 or 40 different polls, and been a part of several myself... all the polls were same, all of them. End game swtor sucked, PvP was amazing, raids were to easy, not enough end game, class balance needed tweaking but was the one of the best for a mmo launch. Then 1.2 hit, the polls went back up, and people hated James Olhen, people hated the new direction of PvP, things that needed to be fixed were not, focus was made into areas that made little since to the players... those were the complaints being mentioned. I even held a poll of my own, an Expertise poll, needed or not needed... the "neededs" thought they won the poll because their number was just shy of 60% of the votes... what they failed to realize was that meant over 40%, FORTY PERCENT thought BW was screwing it up. The winner of a poll isn't the only thing to look at, it's how close they won... when something is so close that the player base is almost split down the middle, something's wrong. And just from my observation, the majority of people that voted for it, voted for it because it's all they know in mmo's. So, when a game goes from a record breaking mmo subscribing player base, to less than a million current subs... and those people that bailed go take part in polls as to why they stopped playing... yes, yes one or two people can clearly contest to the views of hundreds of thousands of players by merely reciting the results of several polls.
  9. lol, thanks. Not sure they'd like me, my Drill Sargent mode might not be suitable for a bunch of programmers...
  10. Actually the underlined part is the problem, you are reading between lines that are not there, creating your own issue to something that didn't contain that issue. It's a problem many have, and it's not really fixable because you don't and won't see that you're doing it. It's common among people that refuse to see points of views that differ from their own.
  11. Thank you. Without trying to be overly opinionated that "only this one idea will work", I think it is the best idea being that it was something this game had at launch and we got to see it in action, it would appear as if people liked it prior to it being changed in patch 1.2
  12. I agree. Even a PTS with a roll back on it just to see what kind of reaction the sub base gives... I dunno, they are millionaires and I am just a dumb infantry grunt, what do I know...
  13. So, I've been back now for less than two whole months, I pvp every night, do my daily and a little extra... this is how I know the gear gap is horrible. The game is one sided. I have had 3 game so far, THREE, that have been close calls. Every single other game has been won or lost by a land slide... that is improper balance, improper gear balance, and improper class balance... fore going all the stupid resolve issues and WZ bugs that is.
  14. That's by far the most borken thing I've ever read... congrats on that.
  15. Thank you, and to clarify, what you are stating there is also what I was trying to state. Like I stated, the defusing argument is, "if all classes are equal and it's merely skill based, than healers would reign supreme in all ways." The fact that they don't is because to be a healer you loose your DPS, that is the very front line of a Circle of Balance, and the Circle of Balance is the very core of this and and any game that can take a class and place that class into a role, like Healer or Tank or DPS. Correct, and the core of this game is not Team vs Team, it's 1v1. If the class balance is there in a 1v1v1v1v1 state, meaning AvA, AvB, AvC, AvD, etc, then Team vs Team just falls into line with simple polishing to make sure certain combo's do not become game breaking. I absolutely agree with you here, never Team vs Team as the base line, it will seriously mess things up. Thumbs up!
  16. With nothing being addressed, like cross server ques and such, no I did not mean that. However I think that would be a neat way to see if it would resolve certain issues, but at the current state I think it would just make for insane que times if nothing else was addressed. For more clarification on what I meant, if all things random, like what class may or may not be in a WZ, the 1v1 element becomes a team element right off the bat. I'll try to explain it like taking a node... let's say the pug we are against has a healer and a Jug guarding a node. A Scoundrel decides to try and take the node... is he going to win, or is he going to be defeated? He's going to not win for sure, either run away or die. So, he needs his team to help him take the node, correct? Of course he will need help from his team, he's simply not the class to handle this situation by himself. So, putting that analogy back to the topic, if Class A cannot defeat Class B, that's a 1v1 core assessment. That 1v1 translates into Team vs Team because Class A needs help with Class B if something is to be done about Class B. If a Healer + Jug cannot be killed by a Scoundrel, then the Scoundrel needs his team. Will a each WZ contain the perfect circle of PvP life, in a 1v1 situation probably not. But it's a team game, and if the 1v1 balance is there, the team vs team falls into place on it's own. Hopefully that is good explanation, it's kind of hard for me to make examples of it because I can clearly vision it in my head...
  17. That's simply the wrong way to view pvp. The entire game is dps based, every aspect of the game is based around dps, it's the very core of this game. A player either does dps, stops dps, takes dps, or heals dps... There is litterally nothing else unless you consider moving between instances of dps to be your argument. CC stops dps, damage dealers do dps, tanks take dps, and healers heal dps. That's why it's always dps. Now on top of that, the point that was being made was, if class A takes an extreme skill level to get mid chart scores, and class B merely has to face smash the keyboard and tops charts with ease, that's class imbalance and that was the point. You don't balance pvp on how well a team v team does, if team A figures out a strat that becomes amazing and impossible to beat, swtor needs to investigate it and see if they are exploiting or just really good players. How much skill a player has, or how much skill a team has is not something that should be considered for balancing issues. If class A combined with class B create an unintentional power bridge, that gets categorized as "not working as intended" and gets fixed. But you don't mess with the class individually, the 1v1 status, the combination issue get addressed.
  18. Good points. This is a hard topic to debate because it's all opinion, and no one has the definitive right opinion over someone else. In my original post I mentioned a "circle of balance". The reason for that is exactly for this debate. Because either 1v1 or Team v Team, the circle of balance accomplishes this. When a game starts basing classes as counters to other classes, that is a 1v1 base core, however it is an overall team core design because of the circle. Teams that have class A, also need class B and C and D, etc, in order to keep their circle in balance. As SWTOR stands now, any WZ could be totally void of certain classes, and no one would care... that directly means those classes are broken. Because in a circle of balance, all classes are valuable team assets. That is specifically why I addressed the topic as such, because 1v1 and TvT are all part of the same circle in the big picture.
  19. Again, well put. People feel the "Gear Grind" is the only way to do a mmo, and not to hurt anyone's feelings but they only say that because that's all they know. Those of us that have seen the progression of mmo's know many many things can be done, and as you stated very well, games are played because they are fun too - not just because there's a grind of some kind. Pre-patch 1.2, I have a full BM set. I was one of the schmucks in my guild that got a token almost every daily for almost two weeks. Fully geared, and I still played... not to get nothing, but because the fun is in can I be beaten by another player's skill or can I survive player after player. That's PvP, PLAYER versus PLAYER. GvG, Gear vs Gear, or PvGG, Player versus Gear Grind. imo of course.
  20. I remember all those reviews, I also agreed with them all... and I too started out pvp with a Merc then moved to ConOps. Well put.
