  1. You look like a Jedi. Some of these things look worse than others, but ... while I would like the chance to put the hood down so I see my character's appearance now and again, the hooded robes are a staple of the Jedi Order. All of the characters in the films use them at some point or another, and the same is true of iconic characters from the KOTOR era, including Darth Revan. I'll grant that more options would be nice, but being this weird guy all cloaked and mysterious is pretty much the point.
  2. Level 50, and pretty much anywhere there is a flashpoint in general. You get those badges from hard modes -- or is it nightmare modes? Someone else will want to clarify for me, I think. Personally speaking I don't like the mixed-color lightsabers, but that's an aesthetic thing rather than a difficulty with the canonical status of such things. They just look ugly to me. Though, the black-and-red works reasonably well.
  3. Slicing won't be restored the way it was, because it was broken as it was, and I say that speaking as someone who used it to make incredible amounts of money in a short period of time. I know people who used it longer that managed to make millions off of it, and that's after all their training, mounts, cargo bays, inventory space, etc. On the other hand, I think that augments should be given a more useful role, because they are a pretty neat idea. I'd love to be able to add augment slots to existing equipment, for example.
  4. You are soloing as a DPS Advanced Class. That gets hard sometimes even WITH companions. It is marginally better with proper tank classes, who can usually simply win a fight of attrition. Also, while Darth Vader was awesome, you rarely saw him going around taking on every enemy ever solo. His very first scene is marching in following the use of Stormtroopers to gain entry to a ship, his later appearances also have him surrounded by goons, and his very few other solo fights are... against other individual opponents. The enemies that usually get taken down in droves are goon-types, which you can in fact hack through easily even as (or especially as) a DPS class in SWTOR. Basically... yeah, you're pretty awesome. But you're not so awesome that you never need help, and that's pretty much never going to change in this game.
  5. Dear Bioware, Thank you for an awesome game. It has some problems, but frankly, most of my favorite games have had worse. I look forward to seeing it patched up, and whatever new content you have in the cards for us in the future. The flashpoint tie-ins to the KOTOR games are pretty awesome, though I wish they had been more expansive in places. Whatever the case is, I've played this game once and had more fun with it than any of my proper Christmas gifts, and that included the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword! If even a single Community Manager reads this, to say nothing of a Dev or other member of your staff -- don't let all the negativity get you down! You're doing fine, and you'll know for real when you're not. Thanks, Dekart
  6. The answer is simple. Officially the likelihood is high that the Imperial Officers have some measure authority over Sith Force Users, particularly at the higher level. This disintegrates however the moment that the officer is unable to enforce his orders. If Grand Moff Kilran makes a bad call and gets force choked for it out of hand, there will probably be no official repercussions for the one who killed him for his failure unless another independent agent is able to carry it out. Basically, it is all about what you are personally capable of getting away with.
  7. Brackets will certainly happen. But not until there is a sufficient population of level 50s to sustain a level 50-only bracket. Prior to that, these complaints (while valid), are not likely to go anywhere.
  8. There might be, but if there is I don't know about it. Most of the level 50 sabers that I know about require raid or heroic loot to begin with.
  9. I apologize, I was unclear. There are a number of lightsabers available on the PVP vendor, beginning at level 40 and... I think... ending at level 46. All of them are orange, and thus can be modded. They cost around 330 warzone commendations, and are pretty good for their level range. Do some PVPing, grab the modifiable saber (highest level you can acquire), and from there modify it to be more in-line with your level. It should provide a stopgap saber at the very least. EDIT: Also, it should not require sufficient grinding that you will be too terribly badly off using it. It will take more than one warzone, but should not take more than six or seven even if you lose every time.
  10. My suggestion is that if you are not averse to PVP, getting a level 40 saber and upgrading it through mods from there. If you enjoy PVP outright, simply work your way towards the level 50 saber there. Otherwise, your options are most likely limited to end-game flashpoints, operations, and craftables. Though I do believe that there are level 50 craftable lightsabers that might suit your purpose, I am not personally aware of a specific ideal option. You're probably just as well off going to the market, searching for a lightsaber, and sorting by level.
  11. Apologies for being unable to answer this. I have as of yet not been able to engage in any of this content, and was wondering myself.
  12. With respect, and as one of the people who looks back fondly on EverQuest and Ultima Online: There is a reason that model is dead. Losing a day's worth of playtime because you screwed up once, or just because you lagged and went link dead at an unlucky time, is exactly the sort of thing that mainstream MMOs needed to be purged of. Stiff death penalties fell out of fashion because paying for that kind of frustration is only viable when it is your only option. Most people do not want to deal with it. For those who do, EverQuest still exists, as do games such as Darkfall and the regrettably devitalized Vanguard.
  13. As aforementioned, the reason they didn't is because nearly no MMO ships with a vibrant and well-developed endgame. The oft-cited World of Warcraft had, at best, a raid and a half. Both were miserable affairs during the time in which they were popular, and the raids that could eventually be done with regular groups were hardly any better. SW:TOR does have many things to do at endgame, and I honestly do not see many of the problems that other people do with the PVP experience -- excepting perhaps Ilum. On the few occasions that I have played a low-level character against high-level characters in PVP, I have usually been the highest performer in spite of that, and my team has generally won. I will however grant that the level 50 problem is only going to grow... and I suspect the idea is to let it! Once there are enough 50s that the 50s would not be completely isolated in their own bracket, waiting for hours for queues, I suspect that they will get their very own ball game.
  14. The level 50 PVP Gear has a number of methods of acquisition. Doing PVP Dailies and weeklies at level 50 will net you a Champion Gear Bag, which will either give you Centurion Commendations (which you want), or more rarely a piece of unassembled gear which you can then trade directly for a piece of level 50 PVP Gear of the appropriate type. The Centurion Commendations can be used to purchase the champion gear, but it is much slower than getting lucky and acquiring a token to purchase the piece directly, as you have no doubt discerned. Alternatively, you can grind out your Warzone Commendations and trade them for Mercenary Commendations until you have 200 of each, allowing you to purchase another Champion Gear Bag, which will have (once again) Centurion Commendations and a chance of giving you a piece of unassembled gear. You may also find Centurion Commendations in chests in open PVP areas on worlds that have them. Tatooine, for example. EDIT: Regular PVP gear requires Warzone commendations, which are good up to level 40. They're also still good after that for buying mercenary commendations for Champion Gear Bags. Beyond that point, once you've gotten Valor Rank 60, you can begin to purchase Battlemaster Gear Bags and getting badges/gear pieces for that set as well. Basically, it's a simple, tiered system.
  15. I was playing World of Warcraft in 2004. The things that you are describing only partially existed. Fighting in the factional cities was relatively unimportant in the early game and did not happen regularly, even on PVP Servers. Most such interaction took place at intersecting quest hubs, where PVPers would interfere with one another and compete for mobs/quest objectives, which (rather than adding to the game play experience), largely just interfered with play for one party or the next rather than providing a good experience. Meeting Stones didn't exist until three months in, global channels were and are notoriously nasty, aaaand while I agree that server forums are preferable they are not really anywhere near a deal-breaker to me. To put it simply: Endgame in WoW was mediocre immediately following its launch. SWTOR has some issues to work out, but it has a lot greater replay value, and like WoW will get better with time.
