  1. Luke: Is the dark side stronger? Yoda: No, no. Quicker. Easier. More Seductive. I have no insight into this at all, I just thought this quote was kind of appropriate.
  2. To quote Curly from City Slickers "Day ain't over yet." But yeah, it is only a bit past noon Austin time. So wait a while longer before you worry.
  3. This is not really the case. You might want to check this article out first http://www.edbott.com/weblog/2009/04/how-to-enable-multiple-cpu-cores-on-a-windows-pc/
  4. True they started this right from launch, and so likely they did not have population data. I have no idea what they know or not. But just looking at the time zones you can see why they would choose the time they do. Most of the US is at night and it is still early to mid morning Europe time. As to Eve I have never played it, when is it's maintenance time?
  5. You are correct that it is too early to judge how well this game will do long run. I think what many react to is the "it will be free to play in 2 days crowd". The numbers that we have do look good, but as you say it is still early. I think people just see this as fanboys and haters and you are either one or the other and any word of caution like you said makes you a hater and and positive thing makes you a fanboy. Sad really but that is how the forums seem to be.
  6. You are forgetting about Europe though. That later you move the time up the deeper into the day it is in Europe. I am sure if their data told them otherwise they would move the maintenance times, but I do think this is the least active time worldwide.
  7. I would like to point out that you use these extreme cases of subscribing for the life of the game and discount that new content will be added. You seem to be implying that one has to make the decision right now to subscribe for the lifetime of the game. People take breaks, they wait for expansion packs etc.
  8. This is all very impressive and well thought out etc. But there is a point where you over-think. If I enjoy the game I will sub, If not I won't. I don't think most people run a spreadsheet to decide which game to play. If it works for you great. All I know is my head hurts now It was a well though out post though.
  9. He says that this is his first MMO he is enjoying. Meaning he is playing it now. And you have to have an account to be able to post on the forums, so that would imply that he is playing. He says later in his post that he feels like he should not be enjoying the game because of all the negative posts on the forums. That would also imply that he is playing it.
  10. *Waves hand* This isn't the MMO you are looking for. OP: This isn't the MMO I am looking for. *Waves hand* Move along. OP: Move along, move along. But seriously. I understand how this game does not appeal to some people, and you know what that is ok. But the game is what it is, sure somethings can be changed, but for the most part it is a story driven MMO. That is what it was designed to be. If you don't like that, no problem, find a game to your liking.
  11. Now that is just insulting to Wal-Mart customers and welfare recipients everywhere But yes, to the OP if you enjoy the game play it. That is all that really matters. Do you let other people tell you if you should keep watching a movie if you started it and you are entertained at that point? Don't worry so much about what other people think.
  12. Like I said a few posts back. They usually post the patch notes after the patch, especially on these smaller kind of out of cycle patches. So wait for the patch and the notes should be there. If they are not then you can complain.
  13. They usually post them after the patch on these smaller patches. I would expect to see them tomorrow.
  14. A member of the dev team visits my home each week to read me the patch notes. Isn't it like this for everyone?!?!?!?!
  15. I just like them because it connects you to the speaker. You see the character who is speaking right there. Is is a little thing, just a luxury really but one of those quality of life issues that everyone seems to want from an MMO. And really no reason not to add them as long as they can be turned off.
  16. Yes I would love to see chat bubbles. UO had them as did SWG and I think even WoW did .... Have them off by default that is fine with me. Then if you want them turn them on, if you don't it doesn't effect you at all.
  17. Are you doing a repair install of windows or a fresh reinstall? If you are only doing a repair install then SWTOR should probably still work. Things can always go wrong but you should be ok. With a total reinstall of windows, yeah you pretty much lose everything and should reinstall SWTOR.
  18. I have to tend to agree with this. I am old enough to have seen the original trilogy in the theaters and Star Wars to me has always been Han Solo. Jedi and Lightsabers are cool and all and I will play them. But a fast ship, good blaster and a suicidal attitude are so much more fun .
  19. I have to say this is an interesting idea. The problem I see with it is that the benefit goes to the side that has more players. In your example you had an agent and you rolled a smuggler to gain some type of bonus on your agent. The idea is to encourage people on the side with more players, (empire) to roll republic, but this just makes them roll a republic and level them and then go back to their empire character with a new bonus. Not saying it would not help, because clearly you would have people level on the republic side and increase the population. But not sure about how it would work long term. It just seem to me that the bonus needs to be to the republic side. Maybe the smuggler would get the bonus instead of the agent? Just some thoughts
  20. I get all that. It would be far better if this issue was fixed before release. That fact is it was not. The devs know about it and are working on it. And according to many people posting, they seem to have fixed part of it. That is a good thing. They are working on the rest too. There is just too much extreme thinking on these forums.
  21. It is not a placebo effect. There are multiple issues that cause ability delay. The devs stated this a few days back. They worked on some of them in this latest patch. So I would suspect that some of the delay is improved. Not all, and they never said it was. I am sure some people see a dramatic improvement and others not so much, based on how they play, the class they play any number of factors. I just wish people would realize this is a complicated problem that will not just be fixed. And there are many ways people are effected by it. It maybe fine for you and horrible for another or the other way around. How about we all just start giving each other the benefit of the doubt. If someone says this patch really improved the game for them, hey, believe them. If someone says the game is performing horribly for them. Well believe that too.
  22. I agree, choice is good. I don't see the devs implementing something like you suggest though. Then you are going to have someone who "looks" like he is wielding 2 light sabers so appears to be a sentinel, when in reality could be a guardian with one. This kind of goes against their stated design goal of easily identifying classes. I just think they took a different design approach. So I would not get my hopes up.
  23. It is looks. But I think the OP wants choice too. I maybe mistaken, it has been awhile since I playbed WoW. But I think you could be a warrior and you had a tree you choose to duel wield, and another to use a single weapon. You can't do that in SWTOR
  24. Yes sounds like a heat issue, or low output power supply. Make sure all your fans are working. Download a program called speedfan and monitor your cards temp.
