  1. This is not one of those posts.
  2. Hardly any truth here. Operations aren't intended to be face rollled. If you aren't good at the game, the game shouldn't be brought down to your level so you can clear it. Too much of that has already gone on in SWTOR.
  3. Still no eta on when this will be addressed?
  4. You may also want to check out: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=567164 While there isn't anything wrong with KeyboardNinja's thread, I tend to find that I prefer Dipstik's notion of stacking mitigation to be superior to stacking endurance. That may be a gross simplification of KBN's point of view, and their ideal numbers are slowly getting closer and closer, I feel much more tanky after dumping a little over 2k health and gaining over 300 mitigation rating.
  5. Again, you aren't saying anything of value as you're just pulling numbers out of the air. In this case, a smaller number in an effort to find support for your position. At a blank glance, its a larger gap than 5% just from accuracy alone. Assuming a base 90% which seems constant for all non-dual wielding classes, healers switching to dps would suffer a 10% larger miss chance compared to appropriately geared dps. This increased miss chance correlates directly to lower dps, as missing = 0 dps. That drop in dps alone is enough to take an average geared player first entering operations and make it questionable to bring them. While it may be true that for a dps and tank to switch positions they ideally should swap out 14 pieces of gear; whereas a dps and healer may only need to switch out half a dozen. It must work out this way. Tanks are required to stack mitigation that no other roles needs. Where as DPS and healers will always have an overlap. Even if you reduce that overlap to just crit/surge, there will always be at least one piece of gear that they can use between both roles, making their off set smaller. So while it may be true that dps/healers carry around smaller offsets than dps/tanks, your purpose solution and the notion that this is even a problem, doesn't hold any water. The ideal fix for your position would be to redesign the entire game so that every roles had their own stat, even if they performed the same function. But such a suggestion would totally foolish and the discussion wouldn't benefit the community at all.
  6. I feel less intelligent having read through this topic. This space would better be served trying to raise money to buy Veggie a WoW subscription and get him off our game.
  7. Use of phasewalk during boss fights definitely can make things easier for healers, 5% to healing given over the course of a fight is no joke for healers. I foresee "Phasewalk plz" being added to the list of annoying things group members say during an outing, along with "Guard plz".
  8. Really should be in the suggestion forum, not the tank forums. Its been ages since this forum has received a dev post.
  9. This is solved in patch 2.0.1
  10. You do just fine on brute force tanking as well, you just have to realize that this isn't pre-2.0 anymore and you may need to juggle some cooldowns on trash pulls. Pop a self-heal and our DR hits the "brute force tanks" DR. Deflection for when you are surrounded by those nasty 5k strong mobs that hit harder than the elites. On top of that you can always pop a clicky relic. Well played Sin tanks are still the easiest class to heal, or so I've been told from healers.
  11. Been looking all over for a Dev comment. Has anyone seen any comment as to when we should expect assassin verpine shields to be purchasable through the vendor? Seems ours is the only one missing, even if they are all shuffled up.
  12. A tank without using those things requires using taunt in their rotation to hold aggro against top end DPS, a tank with them does not while requiring no additional healing but dealing more damage. If anyone believes the additional ~2k hp you gain from using high END armoring/hilt/barrel/crystals, then that is the way you should play. The difference in performance is so negligible that it borders on moot. I personally do not feel that the increase in TkT self-heals outweighs the freedom to hold back taunts and allow my dps to go crazy a little earlier, purely personal preference. Though the lower health (25.1k) would require me to adjust my gear if I ever chose to move into 16M content, those who stack more END would not. Soft caps are not urban legend, just a point at which DR make it more advantageous to look elsewhere to invest points. The fact that some Ops Bosses favor M/R over F/T attacks (or vice versa) is really independent of the "point of gearing a tank" which also does not largely change based upon who the hardest boss is. Tanks realized since SOA that it can be advantageous to carry a set of DPS gear (even PVP gear) for bosses that are completely F/T, but this doesn't alter the philosophy of developing a tank. The variety of bosses doesn't serve to require any change in gear management but serves as an avenue of mastery of other cooldowns/abilities that cover for when gear fails.
  13. This is just wrong. My shadow is geared to maintain aggro against DG sentinels who go balls out from the get go of a fight, while still maintain the 30/65/60 mitigation stats that is expected of me. I haven't guarded a dps in quite some time, 50-50 laziness/lack of need. While not all tank classes are created equal where aggro generation is involved, but a blanket claim that tank aggro cannot keep up with DPS aggro is fallacy.
  14. There is a reason to guard a healer and I'm rather surprised that after 3 pages of discussion it hasn't be stated. If a tank can hold aggro against DPS, guarding a healer is a viable alternative if nothing more then for the 5% reduction in damage the healer would take. Granted the 5% could just be given to a dps, but frankly I'd rather my healer take less damage.
  15. This says more about your tanks rather than your dps. If your dps has to burn GCDs to lower threat then your tanks aren't doing something correctly.
  16. Last night we fought HM Firebrand/Stormcaller as we do every week. The healer on the ground for Firebrand was clensing the yellow pillar that appears and would step aside to avoid the incoming damage. The issue we were running into was that the yellow pillar would not stay stationary on the ground, but would disappear completely. A few seconds later, the healer would get rocked for around 10k by missiles and then the electric spire would drop like normal. Is the yellow pillar disappearing after a clense a known bug or has anyone else run into this issue?
  17. The 65% shield, is that including the assumed 20% from kinetic ward?
  18. The changes that were made were needed, but a double nerf hurt. You just need to relearn how to heal. How you heal in PvP is not how you heal in PvE, and vice-versa. I encourage all of my fellow sages to quit so I can be in even more demand. I still put out a ton of green numbers, while not healing forever like pre-1.2, for long enough that we hit enrage timers or I get noticed in PvP. Post-1.2 sages either need to adapt to changes or learn to dot. MMOs have been a roller coaster and right now we're just going down that first hill, either learn and ride it out or get on a different ride.
  19. This wouldn't do anything to artificers since I did suggest that you need to obtain a copy of the crystal of the stats you wish to change to. So you would have to get it from an artificer then transfer the stat to your SE crystal. The point is to eliminate the wait for BW to update them after each patch which introduces new stones. Edit: Eliminate the wait for the upgrade while still doing the work to get the newer crystal. Having anything of quality just because you preordered is rather silly. And they dont update them soon after. It took along time to get them upgraded to be useful again.
  20. Allow us to place our current Special Edition (preorder/razer/whatever) crystals into a machine (perhaps the unused item mod centers) along with any other crystal that we may acquire. This will then transfer over whatever stat is on the crystal to our SE crystal. This would allow players with these SE crystals the chance to upgrade our SE's without having to wait for BW to implement them. We would also still need to undergo whatever process the rest of the community needs to go through to get whichever stat we chose to pursue.
  21. Wow you fail at reading comprehension. He's saying that having gear does not reflect your ability to play your class. The fact that SWTOR is a numbers game is a separate thought. And an accurate one. They should incorporate a test that you must pass prior to posting on the forums.
