Combat Style Choice For Existing Characters?
BaronBS replied to BHWolf's topic in Public Test Server
Their stated objective is to extricate class from story. Eg, there is the Imperial Agent origin story, but your Agent could fight more like a Pyro PT aka use the PT combat style. TLDR: afaik you should be able to pick anything available to your origin or w/e they're calling it. -
The most humorous part of this whole mess.....
BaronBS replied to LJ_Gibbs's topic in Public Test Server
LOL so true. I saw the news and was like "sweet, i'm a closed beta founder and I've been waiting for this my whole SWTOR life - can't wait to have a Powertech with a rifle or maybe use a pike on my guardian/juggs, or even swap mirror animations" The lamest part is that you still won't be able to use a blaster rifle on your Powertech; you'll be playing trooper or op. oof -
What this thread really demonstrates is just how unclear the devs have been about their vision and plan. Hence, people can't even agree whether the Combat Styles is gonna let my PT wield a rifle or just let my BH larp as a gunslinger (this is what it is imo), nor what precisely is being tested and requested of testers on the PTS (is this just a sampling of Guardian abilities sans core Knight ones as an attempt to remove such noise from the feedback? If so, the responses so far might suggest that you cannot so easily disentangle base and AC classes in terms of mechanics and identity?). Anyways, I humbly suggest the devs just spell things out clearly for everyone before this turns viral ala the New World cash shop debacle.

Hahah I hear that. I find myself playing just to get to the next cutscene. It's like the gameplay is closer to the commercial break than the feature presentation. It's strange because I hit up WoW after Legion, and it's as fun as ever.

Yikes, I hope that doesn't happen for me. I mostly pvp, but haven't done it since 5.0.

Question about jumping into KotET from halfway through KotFE
BaronBS replied to BaronBS's topic in Story and Lore
Okay thank you for the info! -
Hey all -- So I've gone through KotFE before but not on my Jugg. He's currently on Chapter X and I am not that excited about going through the story, and would like to jump right into ET. If i do that, what happens with the couple decisions I don't get to make? Is there any info out there on the default selections? Thanks!

Y'all are right about the ability delay -- that has happened to me, too. I prefer it to the fps problems, at least.
-
Unless you're being sarcastic, that's what I'm saying!
-
I've had FPS issues since the beginning, even after upgrading my rig. Yet when I logged in after the 5.0 patch, my FPS have been off the charts. I don't know what you all did, but seriously -- thank you. Anyone else have similar fortune?

I Totally For Realz Speak for the Entire Community When I Say...
BaronBS replied to ZanyaCross's topic in General Discussion
I won't pretend to have this entire post let alone this entire thread, but I would imagine that just because most people play the story, which would show in the metrics, doesn't mean those players are satisfied at any point. Of course, if they keep playing, business-wise Bioware wins, but trust-wise they lose -
"New Pack Opening Experience" Why don't you and the rest of the dev team reread that? Picture it alongside: "New DMV Line Experience" or "New Paperwork Experience" You really chose to spend development time on this?

What does the name "Knights of the Fallen Empire" refer to?
BaronBS replied to BaronBS's topic in General Discussion
Hahaha we the playerbase are the knights of the fallen empire aka the MMO --- that's funny! But yeah, the absolute absurdity of the emperor picking the smuggler or trooper (et al) is a whole other thing -

What does the name "Knights of the Fallen Empire" refer to?
BaronBS replied to BaronBS's topic in General Discussion
No, I actually think yours is the most reasonable answer. Most others here imo are grasping at straws; it feels more like they used a random title generator. But with your 1st idea especially, if they focused more on Thexan and Arcann like they did in the KotFE cinematic, it would make sense. -

The JK story isn't something I'd want on my resume tbh, but I'm one of those that liked the LS SW story -

I haven't actually read the Bane trilogy, but I hated the Revan one... which makes sense because I'm a Revan fanboy and hate what SWTOR and that novel did to the character, all the more so after the genius that Obsidian and Kreia brought to him -
What does the name "Knights of the Fallen Empire" refer to?
BaronBS replied to BaronBS's topic in General Discussion
Just because SW in general has inexplicable attributes and idiosyncrasies does not mean that when someone crafts a story in the SW universe, their story's title gets a pass for not relating in any tangible way to the story itself. But, yes, what I really mean is that the name is nonsensical and therefore sucks, and I could definitely go on about how they sold the expansion as being KOTOR-esque with meaningful choices, but have yet to show any meaningful choices. TL;DR... wahh -

I feel like lots of you are making up explanations for the name; the fact that it isn't apparent is indicative of the problem (unless it's just, you know, really deep) I don't actually know anything about the writers themselves -- is there a good overview link on who wrote what and when?
