  1. Having reached End Game, no. Sub is canceled. Yes, sadly went from Full with Ques, to now light after the 30day trial was over. Was honestly disappointed, since it's a giant copy pasta of WoW. Left Wow because I was burned out with that sort of game play. Wasn't expecting more of the same. Hard to nail it down to one thing. If I had to comment on the least used feature, it would be Space Combat. I was expecting, a drop in group space PvP/Co-Op feature sort of like an old school, "Free Space", or as others have mentioned a more open Eve-lite aspect to space game play.
  2. Leveling: 8/10 first time, -3 fun for each alt. End game: 4/10
  3. Troll up, "stanford prison experiment". It'll clear up any, "Why?" questions you may have as to the behavior of players given different environment designs. Risk, Reward, and Accountability all play into it. Other facts you can estimate as to how well SWTOR has hit the mark for each type of game play. Least complaints are about the leveling experience. Most are about End game, and not surprisingly PvP topping the complaint list. That just shows you a decent estimation as to the target audience the dev team was shooting for when they designed this mmo. Which comes back to you wondering why game play supports solo play so much. It's by bloody design, it's a really expensive single player game with group play aspects thrown in after the fact.
  4. It's way to early to be making claims of failure or success. For those that want it to fail, swtor won't do any worse than Rifts. Which is doing well, but swtor will by no means be a WoW killer for those expecting astounding success. For more accurate numbers check retention rates after at least 6 months.
  5. Sad but true. I'd really like for someone that's going to that Guild conference to bloody ask the PvP team *** were they thinking copying WoW PvP with all it's inherent flaws.
  6. Right....keep eating that magic pill called delusional. Go look up Wall Street and to big to fail Bank bail outs for crony capitalism 101.
  7. Because the draw of the Star Wars theme is space combat. You know the whole definition of the IP. As others have mentioned we're stuck with a mediocre arcade on rails shooter, sort of like a solo play Dota in space but not nearly as fun. It's not terribad, but it's also not compelling either.
  8. It'll survive a year+ even with all the issues, heck AoC, Warhammer, and Aion are still around. The more interesting question is will it meet the subscriber retention estimates? For now it's still to early to say. Wait till the Quarterly reports to find out.
  9. Highly possible. I'll toss another theory that maybe they don't even have a back end conbat log in place, and thus why a lot of basic bugs got missed on launch. Which could be a limitation of how they coded the engine, since they've already admitted under load when position and skill updates need to done a lot, the engine just can't handle it. I would lol if this were found to be true.
  10. Actually this is incorrect. An op will start automatically no matter how lopsided the groups are at the end of the initial 2min timer. It will then only trigger the auto shutdown once a side is I believe 4 or less. It's possible to get screwed the whole match, and have a 5v8, or worse yet, bounce between 4-5 and have the auto shutdown stop and start constantly. I've had it had happen a few times during off peak hours I play during.
  11. Hutball - You also don't get point for for passing. I've had enough Hutball games degrade into a pure Death Match so players can farm kills and medals. Bad objective rewards are just bad.
  12. Seem like a poor use of the engine. It's able to scale for huge populations, so much so, either super shards could have been made or just a global population pool could have been done. Considering how instances are used to control how zones get populated. Having a global population, with a global zone chat system, and multiple instances of zones. Would have been far more efficient for maint and avoied the age old pop issues from copying a dated design. Interesting read, I can only presume BW made a really bad design decision that it's no longer a possibility. http://hewiki.heroengine.com/wiki/Scalability_and_Building_For_Massive_Multiplayer_Audiences
  13. The space missions are terrible. OP is correct, and it's even worse when the server that was full at launch ends up being light most of the time. Thus crippling end game even more.
  14. Similar situation, Current server is dead, End game can't be done with low pop, WZ never get filled, and it's a ghost town. Unfortunately I'm not into pve enough to grind a new toon. GG BW you screwed up, options are free transfers or server merges.
  15. Agreed, a fresh 50 which are on average barely over 12k hp will get completely wrecked. Gear gaps as wide as they are, do not promote good PvP.
  16. Agreed, as disappointed as I am with the PvP, and buggy end game. It's the only thing mildly entertaining enough till Guild Wars 2.
  17. You keep telling yourself that. The perception of server merges would imply the game is failing. Like Trion for Rifts. The best option under this sadly old server design would be to let the population migrate, and consolidate on their own with free transfers.
  18. Guild Wars 1. It is PvP that's based on the player/team skill. No gear gap, gear grinding, and unlim no cost respecs/pre-made builds.
  19. /sighed, this was argued for during beta, along with the alternate solution of making Respec costs trivial or free. I'm seeing less players willing or able to do FP's/OPS/Pre-mades since Respec costs are extremely prohibitive.
  20. Sadly, it's by design. I haven't grouped with guildies while leveling either since everyone advanced at different speeds. It pretty much turned into a 1-50 solo game. I believe GuildWars2 is taking an elegant solution to your exact issue. Heavy use of sidekick system as mentioned by OP, with open auto grouping. To top it all off everyone in the area of the event gets full credit no matter the level, so no worries about kill stealing or spawn camping. I'm not saying to Bioware to steal it, but there are features about it that can greatly improve the leveling experience.
  21. Not true, there was a level 12 on illum on my server during the graveyard hours. Nothing prevents a low level from traveling to illum.
  22. Pretty much this. There's no reward for playing hutball, and even less if you know your team is going to lose. Farming kills is more efficient. PvP team, what were you thinking? over 10 years of mmo PvP data to draw from and this is it? Really?
