  1. To me it isn't JUST a matter of "fixing" anything, though there are many bugs that need fixed.

Someone, at some point in the last 6 months, decided on the wrong direction to take the game.

The short story that came with 7.0 was to be expected. It's essentially the same setup as 6.0 with the intro to the story taking us to Ossus. I kind of expected that, only this time the daily area wasn't finished in time so we aren't distracted by grinding up new rep (is there even rep for manaan?)

Changing how the Gearing system worked. That's a pretty major design change.

Changing how the weeklies for the heroics & daily areas work. that's a pretty major design change.

Changing how the skill trees work. That's a pretty major design change.

There isn't anything to really fix with these examples. You either commit to them, and they have, or you change them back to how they were before....which I doubt very much they're willing to do.

Exactly. They have fundamentally changed the game, with this update. I even had hot keys on my UI that were moved across the screen. Why?? What was that all about? These look like the toons that we have been using, but they are not the same.

  2. But you know they will stay silent because that’s what they do. It’s their default setting. They will let us all rage and unsubscribe before they admit mistakes and man up to discuss it.

What I want to know is who were the handful of people at Bioware responsible for this **** show and are they going to be held accountable? Will they even have the balls to apologise to the community who told them for over 6 months that this was the wrong approach and reported ALL the problems that have gone live while on the PTS builds.

How does something like this even go live with things that players reported over 6 months ago? Who is responsible for allowing this to happen? The arrogance or incompetence is astounding,

We need a change.org petition asking Disney/EA/Bioware to roll back ALL the system changes for 7.0. Then rerelease the expansion in 7.1 with only the story updates. Use the old 6.0 gearing system (with less RNG and **** mods) and with updated stats. Use the old UI system and do away with swapping combat styles until it can be made to work smoothly, quickly, on the fly and incorporated into the old UI style. And for ****s sake, change the damn font back so it doesn’t hurt our eyes and we can see it.

I’d sign that petition in a heart beat.

Or, maybe we need to start complaining loudly on the Disney forums, and draw attention from that end. DIsney and StarWars.com may be two places to actually get a response, since the Dev Team does not want to respond here. Our Producer should have already addressed the community. Forcing "New Game Enhancements" down our throats and then just being silent, did not work the last time, why should it work now?

  3. I respect the resistance to high sub prices. I'll just point out that sub prices haven't risen since launch and that inflation has eroded the actual amount of revenue they produce.

A business needs cash to produce product. If there isn't enough cash, the product is substandard. If you are unhappy with the product then there is a clear solution.

Now... if you were to question the ability of BW to productively capitalize on increased revenue... I wouldn't argue against that. But if you sincerely want a better game you need to give them the tools to produce one.

    Just keep them honest.

I do believe the "devs" would do a better job if they could.

Sub prices should not have risen. From the day that this game launched, the Dev Team has been mostly unresponsive to what the players have requested. They fail to respond to helpful feedback from PTS, and then throw out unfinished products and expect us to just be happy with it. Personally, I think that EA has plenty of cash to fix things, if they wanted to. How do you propose we "just keep them honest"? People told them what the problems were with this update, they delayed it (not sure why, at this point) and then released the same trash, that was a problem, anyway. In an attempt to "just keep them honest," we come to the forums, to voice our displeasure, as well as detail issues (that they were already made aware of), and YOU suggest raising sub prices, to reward them for bad behavior. WAY TO KEEP THEM HONEST! Also, the F2P people don't even get to voice their issues, on the forums. Oh...and let's remember, that it was the Dev Team (not this one, their predecessors) that tricked management into going with a F2P model. After mass cancelations in the first quarter after launch, they tried to act like everyone quit because they didn't want to pay subs. They even tried to use the poorly worded Cancelation Polls to prove the point. The issue then, just as it is now, was NOT people saying that they did not want to pay subs for a game; it was people saying they were not willing to pay subs for THIS game in the horrible shape that it was in. I say at this point, they should be dropping the subscription amount to try to keep people!

  4.

If Bioware wants to shut down the game, they should be honest about that. Doing it in such a sneaky way, by alienating the players, is simply disrespectful.

I personally am no longer a part of the target group of that game.

I feel like this sums up the way that many of us feel. My guild returned last year, after being gone for several years. Our hopes were that things had changed, and The Devs were more responsive to the playerbase. I find it hard to believe that after this many years, no one at BioWare understands that this could not be taken well. The bugs that went live, alone, are enough to cause outrage. It literally looks like they have decided to sabotage the game, to get people to leave. Maybe they can get out of a contract if subs drop to a certain level. It was my hope that we could use this expansion to draw back even more guild members to give the game another try. Now, I wonder if we will be able to keep the ones that returned. And as usual, The Dev Team appears unwilling to address the negative feedback. So sad...

  5. This all goes back to when this game was in Beta, originally. We would tell them what was wrong, and then, if you said anything other than praise, you were threatened with being kicked out of Beta. The fact that people told them what the problems were, and they ignored them, is not new. This has all the feeling of SOE doing the NGE in Star Wars Galaxies, all over again. The real question is what was the reason for the delay?
  6. My guild recently returned after being away for a few years. We started when the game launched Beta. One of the issues that led to the first huge loss of players was The Dev Team not listening to people in the beta, that were telling them things that were not fun, or working as intended. I had hoped that this Dev Team listened to the community a little better. Rendering people's achievements meaningless, and simplifying by forcing people into very distinct content that was not their choice, led to the failure of the last Star Wars MMO. .Many of these changes sound problematic at best. Forcing people into content that they do not want, or penalizing them (by not allowing them to gear fully) could be disastrous. Maybe some additional time to get some community input, and re-consideration would be best.
  7. When this game was still in beta, I and many others continuously warned that this cut-scene/story-reliant style would make it almost impossible to do large content updates in a relatively short or efficient time frame. Many members of the community screamed to high hell that we were wrong, and we should just wait and see, because "this is just beta." This game's entire setup is a design that does not allow them to just attach a quest to an NPC. You have to do cutscenes for each class/race/sex. That said, it's not likely that this will change anytime soon. This is also why it is somewhat different to add new classes/races for us to play through. Contrary to what we were told, this game was never designed to be an MMORPG.
  8. OK LISTEN, SIMPLE POINT TO MAKE HERE.

THEY CAN EXPAND on the system once it is in place, do you want to wait 3-4 more patches until they can FULLY implement it OR get some modifications now and more later??

People WHINED SO MUCH about the bugs in "Unify Color to Chest" in beta that they REMOVED it from the game for MONTHS after launch. I would rather they left it in and deal with some armor pieces just not acting right (some still don't) than have them remove it.

I mean seriously, I think BIOWARE could've given you a primary, secondary color set, 500 new hair styles, 17 new races, scalable body types, massive height modifiers and you people would complain about them not adding the ability to scale your feet, hands separately. WOW you people amaze me every freaking day at how much you DEMAND.

This is what I mean. The REAL issue is they have been half-assing stuff from the start with this game! Considering the money spent on development, and the years spent, this game should have been polished. To keep saying, "I would rather they leave the broke stuff in so we can use it," rather than hold it until it works, or taking it out to fix it is just ridiculous. This is not about people complaining about the scale of feet, this is about them giving the least that they can and some people acting like it's a miracle. Hold the dyes until you can give us a decent system.

  9. I find that seriously hard to believe.

Why would they do something as clumsy and unoptimized, when there is evidence the hero engine can do texture tints, and they could already do it in DAO, in Mass Effect, and even as far back as Neverwinter Nights ???

LOL. Why, indeed. This was yet another example of poor planning by this team. And all the people going "at least they are giving us something..." are the same ones that have been making excuses for shortcomings, from the start. Something is NOT always better than nothing.

  10. Agreed. There are lots of good guilds out there (a few not-so-good ones too). In addition to the things listed above, I would suggest grouping with people, to get an idea of what type of people they are. This may help you determine whether you are a good fit or not.
  11. I don't think the issue is that they announce things in advance. I think the real issue is that we have been tricked and lied to so many times, that it comes across as bait & switch. If they say they are going to do something, then they should deliver. I find it hard to stomach the excuse that something "costs money" or is "too expensive" when you look at the amount that was spent on this game, the time it had in development., and it has the major issues that it has. IF they needed to charge for Makeb, that is one thing, but this is on the heels of leaving lots of bugs un-fixed, and the game looking like a beta, in some aspects. When you add that with the lack of actual communication from this Dev Team, and the ridiculousness that is their customer service, it paints a bad picture.
  12. I don't disagree with you on the percieved "intent" in your post. I do disagree with your logic. There is no direct correlation to any of the events you discribe to warrent your admonishment. There are also factors that you didn't accurately represent and variables not considered in your analysis. If someone is not satisfied with a product they have every right to complain about it. Their reasons may not be sound in your opinion but, that doesn't warrent any admonishment on your part. EA and Boiware have failed in many aspects in bringing a AAA MMORPG to market. What you are highlighting, with regards to customer dissatisfaction, is only the tip of the iceburg.

    Well said.

  13. So in other words you are a subscriber and don't want to pay anymore so you want them to remove the f2p restrictions? Why don't you just come right out and say that?

As a subscriber I think the restrictions are fine the way they are. I've been a subscriber since day one and have not minded paying. All this entitled complaining about f2p restrictions gets tiring. if anyone does not like the f2p restrictions they do have the option to subscribe.

I too have been a subscriber since Day 1 and I believe the game is too restrictive for F2P. I do not intend to go F2P, so don't bother using that excuse/accusation. The whole point is supposed to get more people playing, and to get them to want to spend money on the game. BioWare has failed at this, more than they failed at initial development of this game as an MMO. If they want to make money, offer things in the micro-store that people will actually want to buy. Offer things that will continue to sell, not just lottery packs. Recoloring items already in game and offering them at "unfortunate" prices is no way to maximize the store. Offer extra character slots, name changes (Legacy & primary), and server transfers. All of these have relatively low Development cost and are things that people have asked for. With the game being as restrictive as it is, they are trying to force people into getting subs. This will not work, long-term. People quit because they felt the game was not worth their money. Offer gameplay that makes people want to pay the sub for it, and offer things in the micro store that will make you even more a month than the subs. The point of this F2P was supposed to be to save the game and get more people to play, by reaching out to new players, and enticing older, former players to return.

  14. I was also hoping for new classes, but then i realized how difficult new classes will be for tor compared to other MMOs, as in 1 new class needs:

10 new companions (5 for each side)

    2 new storylines

4 new voice actors (reusing is possible, but unless they're all Claudia Black, or greatly differentiate their voice, people will be upset)

2 new ships (reusing is possible, but once again, people will be upset)

Balancing and new powers that regular MMOs deal with

I imagine it would take a hell of a lot longer...

And all of these things were why they were told repeatedly in beta that the system they had developed would make it very difficult to add lots of content and additions in a timely and efficient manner.

  15. The Hood Issue was so big for me, I pretty much dropped out of the game. But when I saw that I had enough Cartel Coins free for resubbing to buy the Valiant Jedi Armor, I am back. I cannot tell you what a difference seeing my face and seeing the cool Jedi look the Devs designed at the same time has made in my attitude towards the game. I can identify with my character now and I am eagerly levelling to 50 again.

And what a difference F2P has made. Never have I seen this many other people playing the game at once. I know we lost a ton of people but at launch I never had this many people on to play with and it makes the game much more fun. We even had a ten on ten world pvp fight for an hour in Voss.

I still expect the Hood Toggle by Makeb, and I expect more hood down armors to join Valiant Jedi in the interim, but here is at least once subscriber you got back with the hood down armor. I have *****ed enough, I wanted to show how effective releasing it was. With the toggle, you'll get even more of us back.

I'm glad that you were happy with it. I truly hope that this is a sign that someone is starting to notice that there are players/subscribers and they should listen to us, sometimes.

  16. Because you and all the other fanboys still cant wrap it around your heads that we dont hate BW or SW:ToR we hate what they are doing to it and the piss poor job theyve done with something we LOVE. Its the opposite.

I really want to thank you for saying this!!! I don't think that they can wrap their heads around this!!

  17. trust me been staying away from both for a while now. The most problems I get now are when I log in and a certain group of people immediately send me about 15 whispers and a bunch of general chat msgs immediately insulting me upon log in.

Perhaps it would benefit you to just stay out of general chat. If you have that many people on a server for that long having a sustained grudge against you in general chat, then maybe you are doing something wrong. Just stay out of general chat. Oh...and before you tell me how you "shouldn't have to avoid general chat" let's remember that your stated solution is to quit the game completely. Why not just quit the action that causes the harassment, or the one that reveals it.?
