  1. Ep 19 How to get all types of decorations including easy and cheap ones!
  2. Just because I know BioWare watches these threads for feedback regardless of whether they choose to act on it or not which is entirely their choice, I want to express my both joy and sorrow for this event: Pros: -This event is super cool! It takes you through all sorts of fun stuff that I have done to ridiculous extents seeing how I've been playing this game since before launch! While I can personally attest that not everything in this game people will find enjoyable, the carrot to at least try them for some neat swag is awesome! -Most of the items on the achievement list are things you will end up doing if you just play through all of what the story has to offer. Awesome to know that players don't have to go really far out of their way to complete this event, even if it does seem a bit daunting upon reading through the objectives. From one who has pretty much done it all, it really isn't that much like full achievement hunting. -The rewards!!! Cons: -Lack of retroactive rewards in certain aspects, specifically things such as the 8 classes to lvl 50. Having to make 1 or even 2 new characters (republic/empire) to perform a large portion of the event didn't bother me. There are class stories and classes in general that I could continue to level one after the other because I enjoy them that much! That said, I have to level all eight of the classes to lvl 50 to continue on the objective hunt for this event which does bother me as there are classes in this game that I absolutely despise from the story to how the class looks, feels, and animates on screen. To be specific for me: Trooper is the one that I absolutely despise to the point where I leveled one of each advanced class for it for the story and observing the differences and swore I'd never touch it again. I will have to break that in order to participate in this event which is like a hot iron to my chest. Others I would rather never do again but don't inspire such hatred would be Imperial Agent. Now if this part of the event was more in line as some of the others that involved hit or miss gameplay aspects like star fighter and warzones where it only requires very limited engagement to complete I'd be less upset about it as Starfighter is another aspect of the game I tried via test server before it's launch and just did not enjoy in the slightest but only having to do 5 matches is a drop in the hat and no worse then taking that medicine that you need but taste gross. Not making this specific item retroactive and setting a limit of lvl 50 to it means I not have to just spend a little time into something I KNOW I hate via already doing it (starfighter) but instead a lot of time into something I know I hate (Trooper Class). Wow.... I guess that is really the only con I can think of personally in relation to me! Don't get me wrong, I'll end up leveling the needed characters again even though I die a little on the inside even thinking about it, but I just feel like this specific Con could've been handled a bit differently and makes me sad. All that said, I'm still excited to participate in this event!
  3. RoH is always recruiting new and friendly faces! If you'd like to see a little of what our community offers via SWTOR (and similar for other games we play) then check out some of these gems that are 100% set up and ran by our community members for not only RoH members but the gaming community as a whole! Many of our talented video personalities such as Vyrigan conduct Hope Cast, a podcast type of a show all about the games we play, take a look! http://hopecastgamers.com/ One of our favorite guild youtubers Aravail records a TON of things we do with PvP and Raiding and posts them on his channel along with "lets plays" and more, take a look! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCemm11KrwIHgOvgvKR3uizw And of coarse how could I not mention LadyAdmiral herself who lately is responsible for a video series she has named the academy which are designed to help new players and even some more veteran players with things they might not know. Check her content out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkpJlq8u0mOBSAKv1KmTTfQ
  4. I'm sorry you feel that way In all honesty, the rules were discussed and put in place mostly from feedback/experience from the Server Community back on Jung Ma which was the first time RoH had done something like this from a "what worked well" "what didn't work well" stand point. I also think it's fair for me to point out that this isn't a Bioware Warzone or Bioware event. It's a Player hosted and ran tournament and tournaments tend to have unique rule sets. This tournaments rule set has been explained and the option is now on us, as swtor community members, whether we wish to attend it or not. Ultimately the tournament simply took WAY too long before and was difficult to officiate as there are limited tools at our, players, disposal for insuring fair play. EX: Consumables are difficult to look for considering many classes have healing abilities that work like consumable health packs. Saying "no" to these opens a window for unfair play that can be missed by the volunteer officiates. Many of the rules you see in place for this are to help with that, not give someone or class specific advantages. With the time limit of battle being reduced to 5 minutes, things like healing had to be looked into as to prevent the idea of "playing the clock" and coming out with the highest health similarly seen inside arenas currently. Cloaking classes in general have quite a tool set available with healing/defensives, especially so with Operatives/Scoundrels that something had to be looked at, that COULD be officiated to help combat it. Out of combat recharging can be easily seen. Cloaking classes already have the ability to use multiple med packs due to being able to cloak out of combat to reset where as non-cloaking classes may only have the chance to use 1. Also with class balance at play, some classes are not shinning well inside group PvP but from a 1 v 1 standpoint are incredible! Cloaking classes are within this branch for SURE! Not that this should be the players fault by any means but I do find it odd to scream foul prior to the tournament or try to make another class out to be SO powerful in comparison when in fact both compared classes are Kings/Queens in the 1v1 world together. A juggernaut/guardian is no joke 1v1 but neither are the cloaking classes without using the cloak-sap-heal to full. At the end of the day, this event is meant to be FUN and not something to upset or get upset by and just like what we did from the last iteration of this event on Jung Ma, we will be looking at how it plays out and taking feedback from it to change it for the next go around. While we all may be able to look at something and say, "I just don't think that's going to work or is a good idea" I think it more prudent to give it a shot and see! It's good to try and prepare as best you can when organizing something like this but it is even more important to see what actually happens. This event has moved beyond the planning stage and into the "Lets do this" stage and at the end of the day, these people are VOLUNTEERING their time and energy to organize and host this event so adding more to their workload between now and the event date just doesn't feel right. Also considering many have signed up under the current rule set, changing the rule set now means we have just changed what they already agreed to and isn't really fair to them. I think a few good points have been made already, without the event occurring, that are worth looking for inside the event to see how it plays out and then adjusting accordingly for the next iteration of this Tournament but this is a player driven and created event that is 100% optional and by no means if someone doesn't agree with the rules they certainly aren't being forced to participate. I hope I've helped shed some light into this event and how it is being handled.
  5. I just wanted to pop in here to say that RoH has been a extremely hospitable and welcoming guild to me from the get go! We have several dedicated players in various departments within our community that put together events such as PVE Raiding, PvP groups, and RP nights! Aside from that, we have once again begun hosting server events with our latest being the 1v1 Tournament found here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=866328 Interested in joining Remnants of Hope? Head on over to our website and give us look! http://www.remnantsofhope.com
  6. WOOOO!! Exciting stuff! I really wish I could be in this Tournament but alas I'll be in the Bahamas during this! I'll have to find my way into the next one! To all those that sign up and participate: "May the odds ever be in your favor"
  7. Hi. I've been here since beta. Play on a PvP server and care about open world PvP, which would explain why I play on a PvP server. I'm quoting you and replying simply as evidence to how wrong you are in your statement and to offer the below as maybe a way for you to maybe understand why level sync would be appealing to a player on a PvP server with open world pvp. I'm not sure if you have a level 60 on a PvP server as I don't know you but after 4.0 launches, if you do, Please go to say Tatooine, filled with players leveling and pick a fight with them on your level 60 and report back what happens considering your health will be chopped down and those players will actually be able to hit you. Personally I imagine that 1, 2, or 3 wont be much of a problem but lets say 22 are leveling on tatooine and you gank a few of them on your 60. The call goes out in general and you find yourself hunted by even half of them. How do you think that may work in 4.0? I think that would be interesting for both parties involved. I can tell you that if you were to do that now, you could take all of them on without a single health point of damage missing from you. You could even go afk, returning to prevent log out, for as long as the servers were turned on, have a entire planet phase full of players levels 49 and below beating on you with the outcome being: You take no damage and then use one AOE to kill them all. This, from a player on a PvP server, is no fun for anyone involved. The high level character is offered no level of danger in their adventures, which is what they signed up for being on a PvP server, unless they happen to come by another equal level player which is a rare occurrence unless in a end game daily area. The lower level characters are offered no ability to fight anyone outside of their level or lower creating only the option of running away, logging off, or hiding until the high level character leaves. Level sync still gives power to the higher level characters but now gives them the added danger of having to be careful not to be overwhelmed or bite off more carnage than they can chew. Vise versa, it now gives lower levels on the planet they are leveling on the ability to group up and try to actually take out that high level or two that is roaming about. This also gives guilds on a server more grouping power when a call for help goes out or even simply planning guild pvp events. Guildmate on Tat calls out in guild chat: Need help with a few level 60s in the Dune Sea, now everyone in the guild that is at least the low end of Tatooine level and up can respond and make a impact. Currently only level 60s could respond and make a impact. Guild events, now MORE if not ALL guild members can actually participate in guild events on these planets and contribute to it's success. Seems like some pretty cool things to be excited about on a PvP server.
  8. Thought I'd point out that BioWare did this once before when the codex was replaced by the achievement system in place today. Most of the removed ones were broken any way and unable to be achieved but not all. Not defending anything, just pointing out that the premise of this is a bit flawed as it was done once before on a grander scale. This time it is simply because companions got re-worked and overhauled into a new "Alliance" system we have yet to see in action. Not 100% but the "They said they would never take anything away from us!" I believe was said when talking about your items and armor when answering about "what is going to happen to all my companion stuff." Another time I remember hearing it recently was when talking about the questing changes in KOTFE in regards to going back to old planets. Was something like, "We don't want to take anything from you guys. You will still be able to go back to the old planets and quests. Heroics will all still be there. Daily areas will still be daily areas. But as soon as you start KOTFE you will not be able to go back and complete any one time quests on those planets that you may not have done such as class Story and Planet story." If it was said sooner than the above then I'd need some links to remember it. Been here since Beta. I totally understand for the achievement junkies that this bites, but are we talking 1000 kills per companion (not planet specific)? Because if we are I can see why they didn't think too hard about the change implications. I got the 1000 kills with companion X already with no added effort. Simply from doing things I was doing already such as dailies and leveling. Even with this, I still get why this is annoying to those achievement junkies. As for the crafting changes a few things kind of raised my eyebrow that was listed in here that they addressed and one thing they didn't address but is a simple fact of how the game has operated since they increased the level cap the very first time. 1. Those schematics, such as enhancements, are moving to a different crafting class. The crafting classes are no longer level based as in, locked out from crafting anything of any level like it is right now in live game. On top of that they are giving you ALL the schematics for FREE from your trainer for EVERY crafting class. Yes, you may have to reverse engineer them again but they even made that easier with some cases being a guarantee no longer a chance. Please reference the dev blog on crafting changes for this information. 2. All of those HARD earned, HIGH cost schematics you are referring to, such as from raid content, let me ask you: Are you currently crafting the level 50 ones? The level 55 ones? Because being here since beta for all of those level caps, and one who has all of those schematics, EACH AND EVERY TIME THE LEVEL CAP HAS INCREASED THOSE BECAME POINTLESS! All that time and money I spent and they are currently on my list collecting dust. Are we REALLY bringing that up as a point of contention with KOTFE? Heck shadow of revan literally made the ops gear we had JUST gotten pointless by handing you 186 rated gear. Better yet, after shadow of revan where that 186 was meant to get you to 192 they handed us 190 gear on ziost after many of us spent all our coms on the 186 we may not have had. Ultimately my point is it seems we are making a federal case out things as a crime against the entire community to try and justify our pleasure or displeasure with changes when in reality, the honest truth is: 1. I simply like it or don't like because it does or doesn't benefit me specifically in some way shape or form. 2. I'm too lazy to be bothered. 3. I already did that, why do I have to do it again? I will say that for the first time the SWTOR forums have been absolutely entertaining with all of these debates going on. Again, been here since beta and for the first time in over year I've posted something on the forums and really read them. I am thankful for that for SURE.
  9. Snip, was in the wrong post when I replied with this.... SO MANY OF THE SAME THREAD!! LOL Carry on
  10. No he didn't. He led a large strike team of sith lords. At most, he took on about 5 people at once in Decieved. Only two period in Return, and in Hope he led a very large battalion and got owned by a small force of commandos and a jedi. Closest Sith to do this in SWTOR is Vitiate with Ziost but even he didn't show up and own everyone single handed. He had to slowly corrupt many to create a war to fuel his ritual and the ritual is what actually did Ziost in. His will was alone be he was not.
  11. That is suggesting they don't skip another planet down the road they are over leveled for that they don't like. Their example and opinion is far from invalid. Take me for example: I LOVE ALL the quests on starter planets, Dromund Kaas, Tatooine, Voss, and Taris. I HATE most of Belsavis, all of Alderaan, all of Correlia, and all of Balmorra. Skipping what I hate and doing what I love with Level Sync would not put me at max level before completing story, most likely. I say this because none of us have played 4.0 and don't really know. Your comment assumes a completionist is playing, which could be true, but their reward is 100% completion, not the level. If anything level sync will keep it mildly entertaining considering in current game they wouldn't take a lick of damage and could ignore ALL mechanics. Edit: To same effect, that completionist might not be concerned with fun gameplay and more concern with that % complete meaning they'd welcome the god mode status in current game when going back for completion %. They are driven by that need to be complete and fast rather than gameplay. That 100% complete is their fun gameplay. Still a valid response for them but pandering is pandering no matter who is being pandered to. Thus far in my experience within SWTOR (Beta Player) I have only met 6 completionist players on my journey among 4 servers. Among those servers and time played I have interacted with well over 1000 players (roughly) personally so 6 out of 1000 interactions seems like low odds, but those are my own. Someone here might have met mostly all completionists in this game. Subjective.
  12. ^ This. Talking about iconic characters, look how Revan is treated in SWTOR. He gets owned the first time by 4 players mid way through their journey and then again by 8 at the peak of their journey. I admit, I will be a bit upset if I go to a level 25 planet on my level 65 and a level 25 player, or even two, wipes the floor with me. 4 of them or more? That sounds fun to me and makes sense. Iconic characters like Plapatine, Vader, Revan, and malak can't go to a planet like Alderaan and single handedly defeat everyone on it. Currently in SWTOR, on my level 60 I can without taking a drop of damage. That is pretty game breaking for me considering I enjoy story and immersion in my RPGs.
  13. Exactly why I'm actually rather excited about it. It brings back a level of immersion into the world for me. God Mode breaks immersion which is why it is always a cheat code in games My high level passives and abilities still make me incredibly strong but I can still be overwhelmed by enough enemies no matter what planet I'm on which keeps me sucked into the world. From a RP stand point you can actually have duals in master/apprentice relationships, mercenary battles, where that higher level (master) will still have a advantage from all their added experience (level) but not be completely unbelievable. Current game you have to have /emote and roll battles because if there is ANY disparity greater than 10 levels you will literally not do ANYTHING in combat to the higher level. BORING! (for me at least). You can take your guild to a planet like tatooine and have epic battles with opposing guilds and not be in that situation where, "I'm sorry but a lot of level 60s will be there and you wont be able to do anything to help." Community inclusion baby! I'm getting all excited here thinking of all the prospects! Haha
  14. You have a point with the speed at which bioware fixes bugs! lol Still, really have to get our hands on this 4.0 before we know just how awesome, or broken it really is ya know? BTW, I explained threat in swtor to you in the post so you at least know how it works here because it isn't gear based. Even with how it works I pointed out you still may be on to something with threat. Being both a preferred tank player and healer player and knowing they haven't really changed the passives and skills you get while leveling up in 4.0, I just have a hard time thinking it to be a problem because even if your threat multipliers aren't quite enough because you are the lowbie in the group, with how taunts work you will be adding that healers threat or DPS threat to you plus a blanket percentage over it each use and the cool downs are rather low on them. As a tank you will still have to deal with DPS pulling agro because they are attacking the wrong target or going AOE crazy when they shouldn't be. Even in current game, there is no saving grace from that. You also have the option of guarding that higher level player to reduce their threat gen in the group.
