  1. I guess you guys weren't here for the Revan launch. It happened around this time and what the community learned is that the Austin team takes off from around mid December until about the end of January. I knew before Eric admitted it that we weren't going to get a fix because there is literally no one there to fix it. It's also why Chapter 10 got pushed till February - because they didn't want the bug filled, zero support, poochscrew that was SoR launch again. I wouldn't hold my breath for the Jan 12 event either. Like I said, the team doesn't seem to come back to work until late January. Then again, maybe this was an easy fix that they could get the interns to do. Fingers crossed.
  2. When a bug reaches a year old, it sheds its cocoon and becomes a beautiful new "feature"
  3. You guys might as well drop the addon debate; we have a better chance of getting dx12 support, a 64bit client, and proper multithreading before addons. Back in the early days before the UI was customizable at all (even through it was a hotly demanded feature), I seem to recall the devs hinting that doing it was a technical feat of epic proportions. 3.0 brought a proc watcher and buff/debuff tracking and the UI is now hurting some (many?) people's fps. Correlation =/= causation but it does make one suspicious. I strongly suspect that the code running this game is an inflexible, unexpandable, patched together amalgamation of mess that would require an obscene amount of resources devoted to it before it could support any type of API framework. It likely wouldn't solve the problem anyway. Or rather even if you managed to fix UI fps loss, it's likely you'd suffer new lag/fps loss from the game trying to process your addon code on top of its own. I wanted addon support too, a long time ago. Now though, with the amount and type of bugs that plague this game, I'm terrified at the idea. Make an addon that's supposed to hide your mini-map but it deletes all your gear instead. No ETA on fix at this time.
  4. Well if you really want feedback, so be it... First off, I think the speedrun concept in general is stupid. SoR has been extremely content light and you want to have events that require players to burn through what little there is as quickly as humanly possible? Oookay... Secondly, this is extremely unprofessional. What should have happened is you spotted bugs, fixed bugs, announced event. Instead you do the last one first, the first one second, and the second one not at all. You also basically declared to the world now that not only does TOR suffer from issues, but that the team behind TOR is incapable of fixing them. Also in need of mentioning is this should be a wake up call to the TOR team and to EA in general: Your QA process is abysmal. This bug existed before this event, it's just that until the event you didn't care overly much. And this is one bug out of an enormous mountain of them that sit in the game right now; some of them dating as far back as RELEASE. And it's time to acknowledge what the TOR engine is and is not capable of. From my experience, the more mechanic-y a fight, the more issues it has. The engine just doesn't seem capable of handling mechanic heavy encounters and if you are not able to get them working (as evidenced here) THEN STOP DOING THEM. I'd rather have more boring fights that work than more complex ones that bug out half the time. Lastly, ToS. If your very own metrics are showing only a tiny fraction of the playerbase is in there then maybe you need to smack your devs upside the head for consistently releasing overtuned content. Brutal encounters in HM and NiM OPs are fine, but I thought the whole point of SM was to be accessible by pretty much everyone? And how's that bonus boss in Battle of Rishi treating you devs in the office? Enjoying it? Boy we sure are. It's so fun when you need a group in OPs gear to do FPs...
  5. Pretty much what they said but for a little more explanation, this is done by design. Holding Left Click causes MouseLook (spins your camera) while Right Click causes MouseTurn (spins your character), in both cases the mouse pointer function is disabled while in this alternate mode. And really, you (or at least most people) would want it to work this way because when you're done MouseLooking/MouseTurning then you want your pointer to be where you left it, not in whatever crazy corner of the screen all the spinning about left it in. I suppose they could leave the pointer on the screen and just lock it in place but the disappearance is a good indicator that you are in the MouseLook/MouseTurn mode. While I do a lot of tab targeting, I also get a lot of use out of Right Click targeting. Switching target AND attacking with 1 keypress ftw. Also, I've found the tab targeting in this game to not always work the way you expect it to. I swear it sometimes picks the next target on whim instead of any kind of logic processing.
  6. This isn't entirely correct. If you have an account on TOR then you have an account on Origin, however TOR (idiotically) uses your forum name for login while Origin uses your email so they're not 100% the same. But yeah, not only do you not need to run Origin in order to run TOR, but they actually integrate quite poorly together
  7. This is the biggest issue right here. If you require better gear than what the content rewards then either the content is overtuned or the itemization is undervalued. Sadly, this has been the way EAustin has done many HM FPs since Rakghouls - the only masochists who did HM Lost Island where the drops would have been upgrades was the random pug dps who assumed the other three people would be *massively* overgeared and carry them (and every time it didn't work out that way, the group fell apart). By the time people are geared enough to go through these with a reasonable chance of success, then there ceases to be any point in running them at all since you're probably not going to get anything out of it. I think the biggest problem is, they cannot decide what role HM FPs are supposed to fill. Long ago, they were a gear progression to get you in to OPs - but now you can jump straight in to an OP and HM FPs have become kind of mini-OPs in themselves. Which is fine if that's what they want to do with them but if the content needs OPs-ish level gear and OPs level coordination but isn't dropping OPs level loot, then why am I running it instead of an OP? For HM FPs they need to: 1) re-tune all of the fights for people using only 186 basic comm gear - no augments, no voice chat, any combination of classes so long as the 3 roles are filled 2) have all bosses except bonus and final drop 192 comm gear 3) bonus and final boss drops 198 comm gear 4) final boss, bonus boss, and daily reward should be a balanced number of ultimate comms OR Keep things as is, declare HM FPs 4-man OPs and have the bonus and final boss drop OPs loot.
  8. Considering some of the bugs that got shipped with SoR, it might not be unreasonable to be concerned that the bug isn't what you think it is. Instead of the Top Option playing the romance dialogue and the Bottom Option not, the bug could be the Top Option is reading the flag automatically like it should (whether it be true or false) and the Bottom Option is actually disabling the romance... At any rate, thanks for keeping this updated. Just for clarification since your OP is slightly outdated now: As of 3.1 all Republic classes/genders work, and Imperial Agent male/female works, and Bounty Hunter male/female works if you select the top option only. However, Sith Warrior male/female and Sith Inquisitor male/female is still broken? Somewhere buried in the thread it was suggested that Sith Warrior male was working but I haven't been able to find any screenshots or youtubes of a romance acknowledged Vette. Also, Dark Jaesa, Temple, and Akaavi are considered the "wrong" romance and never had any scenes/acknowledgements at all?
  9. A couple of things to note about mount knockoff: 1) Some NPCs - the gods only know why - were given abilities that guarantee a 1-shot knockoff. I've gotten 1-shotted off of my mount by *GREY* NPCs before. If the ability hits you, your *** is on the grass. Of the SoR stuff, the cats on Rishi have the 1-shot ability for sure. 2) We're not really sure what mount offers what protection due to tooltip bugs. For example, the Ambassador's Hoverchair item - that is, the thing sitting in your inventory before you learn it - doesn't mention any protection at all BUT the ability tooltip - what you get when you hover your mouse over the ability after you learn it - says it offers Excellent protection. Another example is the Irakie Hawk whose item tooltip says Exceptional protection but the ability tooltip says it is only Excellent protection. It would take either Bioware or data miners to say what protection - if any - these mounts are actually offering. Personally I wish they would either tie knockoff protection in to your speeder piloting rank OR better yet, remove knockoff completely. It's a terrible mechanic. Maybe keep it for specific purposes like Guards and maybe allow it for any NPC that's a higher level than you to keep noobs from running around high level areas. Otherwise remove it from everything else. If I wanted to fight every green NPC in my way then I wouldn't have mounted in the first place. The fact that I'm traveling on a mount suggests that I am wanting to get from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible and it's incomprehensible why the dev's of this game want to make travel as obnoxious as possible.
  10. Anyone able to confirm it's still broken in 3.1? Was kinda hoping for a stealth fix...
  11. I've been waiting too. No word on it being fixed in 3.1 yet and I'm about out of Republic guys
  12. I'm not sure which quest it was exactly, but one of the Republic quests on Corellia results in receiving a mail from Deena Behar titled "Thanks and Appreciation" that contains a now defunct Planetary Commendation. Accepting the reward results in nothing at all - it neither converts in to a Basic Commendation nor does it appear as a sellable inventory item.
  13. Or become more powerful than we can possibly imagine...
  14. I thought the exact same thing when I read that. At this point I'd lay money down on UO and EQ still running when the Sun finally expands and devours the Earth
  15. They're never going to rebuild the engine. And if they did I would much prefer they did it in OpenGL. The sooner game developers stop suckling the Microsoft teat, the happier the world will be. Or just me at least.
