  1. I haven't played in a long time, came back for my guild is back and this is definitely a nice surprise. I subbed on the concept of it and should be interesting, it looks to be really fun.
  2. A few reasons for subbing, If you read my post (which is a pretty long read) you would note about some of things i didn't care for in the FTP options. Some of the larger ones where slots, advancements and basic gameplay elements. Not like other players, I have no issue paying a monthly sub if I am having fun in a game. Mind you I like the deal of getting ahead of the Q as well for logging in , there are many reasons why I subbed instead of going FTP. The content changes and additions sense my return are well worth it, I also like the idea of starting fresh, that really in the end gave me a new game to play. Much of the content is known to me, but then allot of the issues where fixed. Prime example mentioned, glitches like in Talon where the shuttle takes off and the door is left behind, issues like that before made the game seem really cheap. Now however with these things fixed, I really have no complaints per say, in the end am I enjoy myself playing the game? Yes, so the sub is worth it, the game is fun and that's all that really matters to me as a gamer. I play games to have fun, when I don't I move on.
  3. As a founder I left sometime ago for a few reasons, there is no reason to back track threw history. At first when I "rejoined" due to the new promotions, I thought "ok, I will resub see how things changed" and to be perfectly frank as with most MMO's the changes being so many I was lost on the characters I was playing. I am not meaning as in where to quest or what to do. It was as I logged into a game after buying a free max level character (wow tried this to get me back) and to be honest, with all the changed skills (which now is for the better I might add) I gave up within an hour. So.... I took a break for about 2 weeks and thought back to the game. What actually got me going again was this thought..." ok, it's crazy but what if i just deleted all my toons but my first? I would have a nice pile of credits to start with again!". This actually worked! Now, anyone that plays this game knows that the biggest draw is it's story line and being starwars. I will openly admit no other company but bioware can pull off immersion in their stories. So, that's what I did, restarted fresh and went from there.; Oh btw for those wondering, 1million + and a ton of crafting material and 3 of those legacy boxes , no clue what they are for yet from 5 del toons, 45,40,33,20 and 15. So from my start I was sitting pretty, some of my big issues from the previous first time playing where gone but one still rears it's ugly head. The game really needs "life". Mobs are around , players are around but the land is still very static. Beyond that thou I am finding things I love, from the legacy (BONUSXP! WOOT) and other cool features like run and the rest, I am just aww struck at the fun I have found again. Now don't take me wrong, un-doubtly when I get to the end with some characters again, I might get a little reluctant to play, but there is a bunch more new end content for me to explore, only time will tell on that one. I do however have to say nice job devs, there is more to go here, but with your new additions (BTW you fixed the vanishing door on the talon mission! along with other things I am just giddy about ) and changes I really have enjoyed what I have seen as a paying subscriber. I would now like to note that last part , "as a paying subscriber". I bring this up because I looked at what happens when you don't. To be honest, it's ok (it is free after all) but for the rention value somethings I will defend ftp on. Never take bars away or ablities, that's just silly. Your game can live alone on the outfits, equipment and buffs. Now things like extra storage or areas , I can see blocks like that (see LOTRO for examples) but the actual UI etc, meh if you ask me , your bitting yourselves on the butt with those choices. Beyond that thou, I am really enjoying my return, I again mentioned I joined for a day and cancelled my sub , but after coming back and making that choice to "start again" it has made all the differance. Don't take me wrong here, it wasn't easy to del my pvp toons that had top gear for their levels etc, but to enjoy the game I knew I had to "in a way" start fresh, I probably will never touch my 50. In that, I would like to follow up with that you have had so many changes to the game, that in the front page or maybe after the install there is a button or splash screen on the login that says "returning players click here!" , "new players click here" and those would point to parts of the website that dedicate to updating returning players in a "SUMMARY" of information that has happend in updates, changes etc. I was very lost when I first came back, you already have a section up for new players so just throw that link that way. I hope my time here is longer then my first as I do enjoy the game for many reasons and most of those things I didn't care for are changed. I will emphise one more time thou that the worlds are great, but stale, you need life in them and not just npcs. Trees swaying, more animations of bugs or weather, something. Some of the places are just to static and you really loose that immersion out of the main stories that happen. I look forward to the future, Guardious PS. Get rid of those shoulder blades already give us ones that make sense for combat
  4. As a returning founder and now subscribed player I would like to give my 2cents... From the Legacy system to the new Cartel, I actually am enjoying the game more now then ever. I did find I basicly deleted all my toons and started fresh except for my one max character that has helped allot sense so much has changed from launch day. Now to the subject at hand, I do love the new looks (this game needed it!) and I love the direction it is going. I would as many love to see varities, I think the biggest thing this game could use is a swift kick in colorization. Let us buy armor that we can change the colors on and customize a bit more. If that is not possible, might I refer to future and old Starwars material. You see plenty of cool examples in game of nice looking gear from npc's. While some, being unique on their own, should also be purchasable and allow us to "be unique". The system really needs a kick in customization , you get that in and now we are talking, that's my 2cents on it. edit: PS. those huge freakn shoulder blades ruin emmerision , I think it was a horrible concept in design and too this day I still see many people avoiding costumes with those huge triangle shoulder blades. Rework definitly!
  5. You haven't noticed that the complainers mostly equal about the same 20 posters over and over? Eh tis why many of us rarly come here.
  6. Indeed, talk about missing over half the reason to play the game. It's definitly not just pvp. Thou I love pvp, the stories are great on both sides. I guess thou if hes not into the story, but man to play this game for the pvp only? Eh I like it and love it at times, but I wouldn't pay for just that Eh, each gamer to their own thou, I wish you luck in your search, I think your best just to roll a toon on reb and see the story for youself.
  7. Eh not to side with the troll (See history) I have no issues, I think it's card related. When I switched out my ATI with Nvidia I have seen no issues sense. Before then a ton of issues had to play on low setting etc. Now med setting with no issue, high settings pve no issues. I Don't see high settings pvp till systems get better, this MMO not as others has so many costume variation that it would be hard to have all that run smooth with all the animations etc. I just don't see even a top rig running well with say 20+ on the screen. Gamer/Developer for 20 years of my 44 on this earth and that's just to say even myself with a good amount of experiance in the field knows this sort of rendering is difficult to master. Don't take me wrong, they have issues in their rendering engine, but if you can't even pvp , your rig isn't all that your sales person or friend said it is. Can't be much nicer about it for I know many that play in these areas that have no issues.
  8. His stories where good, but you could feel the redundancy in each version was as the last but with a different villan or narration. I think new blood will do bioware a huge improvment. Don't take me wrong, I loved his works, I just beleive as a fan of the bioware games of the past, his time is done there, it's a good time for him and the company actually. I see it as him leaving on a high note. & not like miss negative in every thread she post as above, I say that he did a great job in SWTOR, it's just time for new blood.
  9. Nah, actually MMO's started as a casual endevoir, as time went on ( I blame EQ) the end game boss grind became prevelent. We would pound in hours upon hours on one boss fight, hmm forget the one, but I remember it took us a full 8 hours to take him down. Now thats a boss fight! Alas after this the nitch, Hard-Core gamer crowed grew, but as with most game that aimed to this group, they would loose the population. WoW now is a prime example of what happens when you make a game too hardcore. They started loosing players, so what did they do? They made it easy to get to 60. Then what? It was too easy, loosing our core base.. up the difficulty , release some mini-content etc. In the end, WoW has now burned past it's prime. While SWTOR is new and shouldn't loose a major population, WoW was lucky that over 5mil or more (not sure on exact numbers) where brand new to the MMO scene. This trinkled in over time giving them a very wide spread population base to work with. Now with the game hitting those peek numbers at their end game, they are now where you were at probably a year ago asking.. "What else is there?" ... I refer again to "the beast" gaming in the end is just that , A beast that is tamable. Someone mentioned starcraft and more as something they continually play. The differance here is your talking strategy over content. I can pvp with no issue on the same map over and over and over if I am having fun. If not I won't. PVE is totally content driven, if I asked that guy if all those 10 years he actually only played the campaigns I have feeling that is a big NO. So point taken.
  10. Yea, server population is a ***** no doubt, They definitly over-did that (it was bad at start thou) However, I am all for the convergance of lower pops, on my server there are no such issues, plus in an excelent guild helps as well.
  11. OP, I won't go into the flaming thing because you have actual constructive thought out concerns. No matter what MMO you play in the future, NONE will hold you or your friends as they did the first time you played an MMO. See what many people seem to "overlook" is the fact when you first hit an MMO the whole new experiance and making ults is just plain dam fun. You do it again and again without a thought, you smash end content over and over just to get each little peice of gear and just about when you and your guild is ready to call it quits. A new addition or expansion comes out that fills the needed void. Take any MMO of the past for someones first experiance and this will be it. When you get into new MMO's as a past experianced player, you play them with a dillegence that you didn't have before. You know the base mechanics, you scream threw content hoping to get all you can in the shortest time possible. Because of your efficancy along with others in your guild. The game last you 2 months if that, for you have finished it all and asked yourself "is that really it?". Many people are counting guild wars 2 as their savior for an MMO lasting appeal. In that game they will run into the same exact issue as here but the end game will last longer (if your a pvp player) if not, guild wars won't last that long as well. It's just the beast of gaming, take any FPS you have played, any RTS or tactical game you have played. I have no doubt many of your friends are actually playing games they already have beaten or put aside to play SWTOR. It is the way of the beast and there is no way around it. I have been playing this game casually, apx 20+ hours a week, sometimes more , sometimes less. The biggest thing that keeps me coming back is the want and desire to see my own characters improve. To be ready for that next release of content etc, For me I haven't had such a draw in a game sense EQ or DAOC. Each to their own thou, My whole point is thou, it comes down to you and the game. If you play enough of them after a time, the only way they fill any void is "new content" , think how fast people now burn threw single player games in a day or 2 days? Crazy to think that those same games would last months for people prior. (Mind you I know some titles that have definitly diminished their content). Take the famous Portal 2, it's actual content is just a bit smaller from the original, however people beat the crap out of the fist one over and over that when the new one finally came to be, people beat the crap out of that one in a day. It wasn't because the game was too short, it is that people have played it before and caught on quickly to the new version. Just like MMO's, SWTOR has come out with a ton of content (haven't even hit it all myself yet) , Yet so many like yourself burned threw it in weeks, you don't know what to do. Sadly the people that happend this too will happen to every game that is released. You to good for your own good when it comes to gaming , that of course can be a good or bad thing. Anyways, I feel for yea, I know why but in the end, nothing can really bring your crew back other then a new expansion or addition and when that new MMO comes around, try to keep in mind what I said, think about it, I bet you within a month of that new released or two you will be on their forums saying the same thing. It is , after all the way of the beast.
  12. Best post on subject, indeed the same exact thing happened in our guild. It seems the original servers are evening out well while the later released ones are feeling a pinch in people leaving. IE new people we get joining our server constantly (probably due to the population notation give when picking a server) but alas, this effect then hurts those lower end population ones. I would be with the OP. They do need to clean up and locked down the low pops and merg, it doesn't show the game doing badly, it just shows bioware being on top of the game.
  13. yes indeed... Multi-Characters and more, no doubt I have my down-time. For me , this game needs a guild to keep it interesting past 50 and do alts. But with that in mind we are having a blast! I don't see that changing if bioware keeps up on the updates and patches.
  14. Yes *forums is about 14% of a given population, I know more staying then leaving and joining, I guess it all depends on the server it seems. hear some are not doing so well, ours is cranking daily.
  15. umm a few thousand was indeed VERY low, but alas, I will let you think you are making a differance.
  16. Best part of this thread is... Over a few thousand of these where sold, less the 1% are complaining daily. Go fig.
  17. empty threat till you actually leave perm , sorry but this is said all the time by the same people, good luck with that working thou
  18. Future content: With future content in mind, what are your plans for the class quest? Is there an expansion in the works already? Are there going to be release of new content with cut-scenes and more? Can you give any hints or info?
  19. Sadly, I would be breaking the forum rules by right out speaking of the exploits so I can't , put it this way, in hutball if you see someone run threw a fire pit come out the other side and instant heal full, undoubtly they are using it.
  20. Good point, their stance on pvp might be (it's there as is) enjoy it or don't. Eh in the end that might bite them in the *** who really knows, eh I just won't pvp in this game then simple as that. No doubt for the dedicated pvpr's , they might bail on the game costing them subs, but then who knows what their main thoughts/goals of this MMO is. Eh guildwars 2 will kill the pvp game anyways if you ask me, when that comes out I know I will just for that. Still like the games pve thou, so un-doubtly I will stick around just for that.
