  1. Y'know, you're just full of it. Is that video not SWTOR's official Youtube channel? I suppose the fact I found it via link through SWTOR's very launcher doesn't give it any credibility. After all, the launcher is always providing links to everyone random Joe and Sue saying whatever they feel like saying. That more accurately describes you. You are still camped by that rotting old sign, screaming it's message like scripture. The rest of us are a little more ahead of the times, you're welcome to catch up, if ever you obtain the willpower.
  2. A character's physique and species used to be set in stone, too. Let's say we visit the Grand Canyon, and there's a sign that says "Don't dive into the canyon, it is a permanent and irreversible action." That's because, at the time the sign was planted, there were no safety measures installed. Now, here we are, many years later, and that old rotting sign is still dictating that people shouldn't jump into the canyon. Despite the fact that bungee jumping and safety netting has been invented since then. Now, we've got a crowd of people insisting that canyon administrations install a bungee system so that they can dive into the canyon in a safe and survivable manner. You, however, are camped by that old rotting sign, screaming it's message as though it's scripture. You probably have one or two followers, but the rest of us want to see administration finally install that bungee system (and remove the antiquated sign, while they're at it). Power to the players, a philosophy you vehemently oppose.
  3. You apparently never moused over the hyperlink that that quote was, I'm sorry I didn't make it clear enough that a link existed. It was the same color as absolutely every other hyperlink in these forums, after all. You have provided zero links, as far as I can tell. I've used this metaphor before, and I'll use it again. A lawyer doesn't go into court and say "He's guilty, but you have to do your own research ... it's out there somewhere." No, he gathers all the proof into one easy-to-present sitting. You kinda have to do the same if you want any credibility.
  4. Notice how she didn't say sixteen classes with eight in each faction? Notice how she said each character class can choose from one of two specializations called Advanced Classes. So, no, the subclasses aren't They are pretty-much cousin classes, they are pretty-much eachother already. So, it's not criminal or game-breaking to ask to switch between the two. (Even if there's a 12-month cooldown) After all, we're not looking to flip-flop between subclasses on a whim, we're looking to swap subclasses because hindsight dictated that it was a poor choice to pick the current subclass, yet one is too invested in their current character to sentence them to oblivion.
  5. If they're going to make the effect uncleansable, then they should at least offer an alternative to not being able to do so; not getting hit in the first place. Like how you could buy an item to negate the 12x xp, there should be an item to negate getting snowballed in the first place. (To make it fair, they are also ineligible for using snowballs, as well.) Like, some sort of heat shield buff that melts snowballs upon contact. Maybe the initial thrower still gets a parcel for their trouble, but we don't have to bother getting dusted with snowflakes if we don't want to be.
  6. Like the Shadow/Assassin's leg slash, it's animation changes upon the distance to the target. In melee range, he slashes the opponent. If farther, he throws the saberstaff. Perhaps there can be some abilities that change to use the lightsaber when in melee range, like Disturbance can be some sort of Force-augmented saber slash.
  7. You keep saying that, but you don't have any proof. And even if you did present that they did say just that, well, I can still judge for myself what they really are. It's obvious that the Subclasses branch off of the main classes. You start off as a Bounty Hunter, for example, and can then go either/or when it comes to Powertech and Mercenary. You don't start off as a Bounty Hunter, and are then offered Assassin/Sorcerer/Juggernaut/Marauder/Sniper/Operative, as that, is where the true fundamental difference is. Maybe our understanding of the word 'fundamental' is different. But when the original devs first sat down to figure out the difference between a full class, they gave him weapons, armor, a story, a voice actor, two subclasses/variants, and three disciplines per subclass. Then, they took their arms, and swept all that work off the table so that not a single drawing, clay model, or empty cup of coffee remained from the design of that class; so that they may begin the design of the next full class. That, is a better example of what it means to be fundamentally different from the other. There are some people who have made it to 60 without picking a subclass, actually. But that doesn't mean they are entirely different subclasses, that just means that the devs designed the interface so players can simply understand who/what everyone is. After all, it would be way redundant if the chart said Player | Level | Class | Subclass | Planet (Instance) | Comment Firstguy | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Someoneelse | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet DarthSithSlayer | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Weneedarealnamingsystem | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Master'Obi-Juan | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Whyisn'tObi-JuanaGuardian | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet LukenSkywalkersie | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Andwhyisn'tLukenSkywalkersieaGuardianeither | 60 | Knight | Sentinel | Republic Fleet Asajj'Ventress | 60 | Knight | Guardian | Republic Fleet Idon'tevenknowanymore | 60 | Consular | Sage | Republic Fleet and so on. Anyone can say anything; even the devs. That doesn't make it the case, though. They can say that they support the midichlorian explanation, they can say money grows on trees, they can say Earth has two moons, they can say that this apple they dipped in orange dye is now an orange, or they can say that the "advanced classes" are entirely different classes. But, anyone will go see for themselves what the truth really is. And I have seen for myself that the Subclasses both branch off the same class. They're like two branches of the same tree. Imagine four two-branch trees in a clearing, now imagine that I claim that the two branches grew from the same tree for each tree, whilst you try to argue that there are eight separate trees, entirely.
  8. You only say that because you enjoy your one-way slaughterfests from the winning side. Whether you liked it or not, it was clearly not a fair match. SWTOR needs to understand what a good match is and isn't. When people queue up for pvp, they hope to win, or at least hope the teams are evenly matched. But, when it's clear right out of the gate that all hope is lost, why should people bother to queue anymore? Maybe that's why PvP queues take so long, sometimes, because it's been a one-way roflstomp too many times in a row, and the only people queueing are the 4-man premade hoping to continue the rampage. Well, the rest of us are tired of being gang-raped. And maybe we'd feel more comfortable with pvp with we knew the matches were more evenly matched.
  9. And how you define ACs doesn't matter one iota, either. They are subclasses, the proof of it is inherently obvious. Knight versus Smuggler? Those are different classes, those are the ones with "FUUUUUUUUNDAMMMMENTALLLLLLY DIFFFFFFERENT CLASSSSSSSSSS DESIGNNNNNNNS!" Whereas Vanguard versus Commando? They branched off from the same class making them subclasses of the Trooper class. I don't know why you can't see that. Knight versus Smuggler is apples and oranges, we're not asking for those. Scoundrels versus Gunslingers, that's Galas and Granny Smiths; that's what we're asking for. And yet, you're stuck on this tired rhetoric that the subclasses are infinitely different from eachother. In fact, from today on, I resolve to call them subclasses; 'cause that's what they really are. While the different between subclasses is minor, there still is a difference, and I would prefer it stay that way. It's not like the OP of this thread is asking to change between full classes, only subclasses. No, the similarity between full classes is about 25%. The subclasses branched from the same full class; thus being subclasses. Now, I wouldn't be able to make that argument if I didn't start off as a Bounty Hunter, and was later offered the choice to become a Powertech or a Mercenary. If there never was a Bounty Hunter class, and you had to pick between Powertech or Mercenary right out of the gate, then it would be more credible for people like Ratajack and his all-capsing the phrase "fundamentally different designs". But not entirely credible, as anyone with a brain would still be able to see that Bounty Hunter Variant I is pretty-much the same as Bounty Hunter Variant II. Even with the 60 token, you can choose your subclass right off the bat, and notice how the subclasses choices go: 4 sets of 2. Not just blatantly 8 "classes" to choose from, there's 4 sets of adjacent subclasses to pick from ... as though they're eerily similar, or something.
  10. "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan! If you like your AC, you can keep your AC!" (Sorry ... had to be done) In a more serious manner, Subclass abolishment would be a bad idea. That's where Ratajack's argument that people can respec for healing, tanking, and DPS on a whim comes true. Plus, all the Subclasses have their own set of disciplines. Did you want to get rid of those as well? There is still a difference between the Subclasses, and abolishing Subclasses to merge the two together? No, let's not kill the diversity. I think the OP was asking to be able to hop the line between Subclasses (not entire classes, mind you, Ratajack); not for the line to be blurred into oblivion.
  11. I don't care how much you all-caps it, I don't care how much you DeepSkyBlue it, I don't care how much you try to emphasize it, you keep treating AC swapping like class changing. No. We're not asking to switch from Shadow to Scoundrel, we're not asking to switch from Gunslinger to Guardian, we're not asking to switch from Mercenary to Marauder. Even if you supply proof that the devs said what you say they said, you are the only one in these forums that believe them. Advanced Classes are actually just Sub Classes; cousins. They're already 95% of the way to being eachother, stop trying to blow it out of proportion by treating it like something else. (I think that's called making a mountain out of a molehill.) You know what, I actually agree with all that. Subclass swapping is enough of a change that they should stick with it long enough to actually try it out. I never tried to imply that it's a change to be taken lightly. A cooldown for the Subclass swap token would ensure that they can't just switch it up on a whim. It's a choice to be taken after careful consideration, but at least players would have the freedom to choose, one way or the other.
  12. Where exactly is that rhetoric coming from? Any one character can only fill any one role at any one time. An Operative, for example, can DPS or heal, depending on the discipline spec. Now, when they major in one, they kinda minor in the other. If they wanted to reverse proficiencies and major in the other, they have to respec to do so. And doing so requires out-of-battle calm time to set it up; meaning they're never a DPS-Healer or a Healer-DPS. But, if said Operative switches over to Sniper, their option is then DPS, DPS, or DPS. No minor in healing at all, and never any tanking from either AC. So, sometimes we have Spec-with-a-hint-of-other-spec, but that doesn't mean they can actually fulfill that hint-of-other's role. No Imperial Agent can tank, so no amount of AC swapping means they can suddenly fulfill all three combat roles at once. A Knight: AC 1 can DPS, DPS, or DPS. Whereas AC 2 can Tank, DPS, or DPS. With the exception of an extremely minor self-heal, there's no healing spec available for the benefit of others. Now, AC 2 can Tank-with-a-hint-of-DPS or DPS-with-a-hint-of-tank, but is never a DPS-Tank or Tank-DPS. When we get down to Consulars, sure AC 1 has a healer spec and two other DPS specs, whereas AC 2 has a tank spec while having two DPS specs. But that never means they can hold all three battle roles in one battle (Unless you have an awesome healer who can "Sorcenaut" their way through enemy fire). We're already restricted from mere discipline re-speccing during warzones, so, AC swapping would definitely be disallowed during warzones. Now, I know there is field respec for disciplines, and I don't really care if they have a field respec for ACs, or make you go all the way back up to the Rodian/Duros up on the fleet to swap ACs. Either way, I don't see where your argument is coming from. It's like complaining that field respec suddenly allows an Operative healer to become an Operative DPS on a whim. Of course it does, but that doesn't mean they can be both simultaneously. Plus, it cannot happen in the heat of battle, either. So where are you coming from, Ratajack?
  13. You know, that's really a moot point, as we can change species on a mere whim. This isn't a movie where we need storyline and cinematic reason for such a change occurring. It's an MMO where we pay for everything worth having/doing, so just let us pay and get it over with. It does affect you, one way or the other.
  14. Try out the magenta crystals, then.
  15. Oh, by the way Ratajack, someone out there has a thread to make the cursor larger. That's not in the original design; that wasn't original dev intention, plus it'll take effort to implement. It might even be game-breaking if they do so. Why don't you go vehemently oppose that idea, as well?
  16. The rules of the game also used to indicate that companions only had one battle role, there were no such things as player housing or guild-shared bank tabs, and that your appearance/species was set in stone. Is there a thread where you call for the recinding of those features? Because they weren't in the original design, as well, I'll bet you hate those features where they dared to alter Ratajack's gaming experience. Yea, I believe TX_Angel's comment that someone's paying you to just be so negative.
  17. Happened again. I finally loaded in with enough time to run to the gate and sit there while I watch my DD timer tick down the few seconds I had left. Like an eager dog waiting for you to open the door, I was there and ready, but couldn't exit the gate. If only there was some sort of measure so that we could clip through the gate just once, so that we don't have to go through so much loading, just to go through all the return loading once more.
  18. Those of you who say "Just roll a new toon" don't get that that means abandoning the current toon; something the OP doesn't want to do. I take it the OP wants to keep their achievements, their energy credits, their irreplaceable gear and titles, their character name, all that stuff. I take it the OP simply wants to switch up between one Sub Class to the other. They're already 95% of the way there; it's not like we're asking to go from Sniper to Sentinel, here. And, then the other argument is that "it'll take effort". Well, yea, but so did outfit designer, strongholds, living mounts, and whatever the makeover terminal is called. So, unless you want to specify what exactly you would prefer the devs devote their time to, don't just mindlessly chop down others' ideas.
  19. As Destiny does when it comes to PvP matches, when it's clear that one team is infinitely better than the other, end the match early, and break that team up. So so so so many of the PvP matches here on SWTOR are one-sided slaughterfests; right out of the gate, you can tell which team will win that match, and there's absolutely nothing the other team can do. Like, a recent Civil War match, the enemy captured and held all three turrets for the entire game. When it's obvious that there's not even a glimmer of hope that the other team can win, that game should be ended, and that team should be broken up (Meaning that the members of that team won't be matched with eachother for the next match).
  20. One's physical build and even species used to be set in stone, too.
  21. One way or another, SteveTheCynic, I'd like to see them fix the naming system.
  22. Well then, perhaps they should fix the naming system, altogether. That way, as long as you have a unique surname to add to your currently-taken character name, then you'll have the name you want, and they won't log in after 6 months to find the name they claimed to be gone.
  23. Yes, there are mobs on the surface. Stray too close to one, and it's bye-bye to you and your team. That's just proving how sad this poor decision is we need a healer, we need a tank. Maybe we would have survived if they were on the team.
  24. Athiss, supposedly a low-level flashpoint. Anyone who's done it a few times know the mission doesn't even start until you get down the elevator/jump down the shaft. In an Athiss we quit just now, we died twice before the mission even started. Seriously, a few kolto stations does not make all flashpoints role neutral. Fix it back to the way it was, now.
  25. According to even the game itself, their stats are not affected by what they are or are not wearing. Thus, let's let that apply to their weapons, as well. Allow us more freedom in what they can equip.
