  5. No, I never said that.I said that cartel packs don't sell for 300 000 like people claim. I prefer selling them for 500 credits than losing time putting them on the GM next to several hundred other CP that no one buy. (this is a figure of speech. If there are on the auction house 1500 cartel packs at 300 000 credits, it's a fair bet that the 1501th won't sell.)

  7. Who said I'm quitting ? I was logging for the first time in three months. I guess I will log again next month, when I will have somehow managed to get the motivation to redo those wonderful FPs. Those FPs that, on my ship, the mission box tell me I have to do to acces Rishi.

  9. Subbers recieve cartel points each month. Each month, I log, I buy pack and i sell them for 500 credits each, to have repair money. I loathe F2P.
  10. No, that's a good design decision, to force people to do flashpoints that last for hours and that no one queue for, to even ACCESS to the expansion.

  12. I have subbed since release. Since two months after release, I have been unable to summon the motivation to play the game for more than one hour per week. I stopped altogehter playing in november (while still subbing) and bought Revan this week And I have to redo Forged Alliance. I did thoe instances when they were released. They were boring. They were a chore. I have the achievements, if such term is warranted. But I can't acces to Revan, because the game want me to redo them. I'm not redoing them and losing two hours of my life with an healer character. Why people at Bioware came to the decision of releasing an (priced) expansion pack that require people doing a solo flashpoint that is an exercice in tedium ?
  13. I did not said that FF6 was more moving than Mass Effect (it would be comparing apples to oranges). I'm saying that it was MUCH more moving than FFXIII Likewise, I'm not saying that Dragon Age is more or less moving than KOTOR (fantasy vs SF. I'm saying that KOTOR make you care more than Mass Effect and Baldur's Gate more than Dragon Age.

  15. I apolozige if ths was unclear. The unfathmoable motivation bit is about JRPGs, which tend to be right now messes. Bioware games have have characters that usually have perfectly understandable, logical even, motivations. My point however is that the increasing complexity of the plots, like FF6 vs FFXIII, mights actually harms the storytelling-videogames might not be the best medium for very complex plots This is not an insult for the medium. The plot of a Shakespeare play, objectively, tends to be a bit on the basic side. What make them memorable is the characterization.
  16. Recently, I tried on the IOS the (awesome) Final Fantasy VI, probably the most Starwars-y game of the series. Something struck me, and I finished FFXIII to check it (it would be more accurate to say that I forced myself to finish FFXIII) FFVI plot is quite basic, cliché, bare-bones. FF XIII plot is of stagerring complexity (read : hard to understand without going to Wikia articles...). Yet one of the two is completely dominating the other in terms of storytelling (hint : it's not the one with Lightning baffling escapades). The fact that the characters were sprites and not pretext to display supposedly awesome clothes and spiffy hairdos, probably helped on this matter. Okay, I admit that in 1994, any kind of plot was welcome, bu as I said that's the impression I got while finishing FFVI two weeks ago. Incidentally, it's not a case of ''first love'', since I played for the first time FF6 in 2001-2002, after discovering RPGs with Baldur's Gate II (Baldur's Gate II, to compare oranges with oranges, strike me as having far better characters, despite them being avalanche of clichés, than Dragon Age). What I mean here is that I genuinely ask myself if the path taken by Bioware, with codex-rich entries, is the most effective way of story-telling (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, TOR of course). Hence the comparison between FF6 (extremely effective, moving even, storyline, with comprehensible motivations for characters. ''The Empire enslaved me''. ''I can't stand anymore for the crimes of the Empire''. ''A girl died because of me'') and FF13 (impresive but boring as hell, hard to understand and unfathomable motivations in most of the case. ''A falcie will transform me into a living Crystal if I don't bring the end of the world....WTH ?'' ) Or, to speak more bluntly, between KOTOR/KOTOR 2 basic but extremely effective storylines (with a couple of hit and miss characters, like Carth, Mission, that Onasi guy, T3-M4, Carth Onasi, Juhanhi, did I mentionned Carth Onasii ?) and the more ambitious plots of recent bioware games, that are not as moving...to say the least. Even if I knew it well in advance, the plot twist of KOTOR was exciting for me, despite being the cliché ridden ''amnesiac hero that is in fact related to the big bad'' (with an extremely good twist) . Dwarven succession politics or Council backstasbbing deals are intricate plots that would work wonderfully in books , I'm not sure they work so well in games.

  18. Please note here that if you have a TIE-Fighter CD and managed to make it work, this news means nothing to you. If you struggle with making it work with a modern computer, have no sound or no joystick support and do not wish to go to places more filled with nasty viruses than a Zeltron couguar bordello, then this means you can play or replay TIE Fighter.
  19. Great Old Games. Summary : GOG offers you (for a price) versions of old games that are modded to work without any fuss on a modern computer, without DRM and without more Trojans than in the Illiad.
  20. You end up shooting more Rebels scum starfighters in TIE Fighter than the whole Empire in either Legends or Canon. (Seriously : with all the missions, it's easy to rake up a few hundred rebel starfighters and a double-digit count of warships above corvettes)
  21. Indeed, but as a game that is evolving and was built on old canon (ex : Killiks), TOR could move a bit in that direction.
  22. ...and see if your GS skills apply to the non-RPG like piloting world ! The gorgeous TIE Fighter and X-Wing are on GOG. - You are despearate to see a game in which the Empire is competent ? TIE Fighter is for you ! (mumble about wingmen being as useful as stromtroopers, but....) -As for the Alliance, X-WING shows you what it is to be a pilot without plot armor ! (Hint : with a mission so hard that it ended up being the in-universe Kobayashi Maru scenario equivalent)
