  1. Yeah people in the EU are paid on average 3-4 times as much as the US. Tax + Shipping increases the price by over 300%? I'd expect a decent domestic shipping option to cost about £2, or about $3, bringing the total price to £5 including tax plus however much it costs to ship them over to the UK/EU. Where did the other £4 come from, or the even higher price those paying in Euros have to pay?
  2. It's $4 in the US? It's £9 (about $14.25) in the UK, exactly the same price as one months subscription. You do get free economy postage, but Origin doesn't state what Economy delivery means or give an estimate for delivery. I suppose that extra $10 is all taxes and delivery costs not price gouging .
  3. I've got alts for every class in the game. I swapped the ACs when I started up some Empire characters. So I've got 8 characters all of which are level 20-45. The guys on the Empire are a lot lower level then the Republic ones I don't enjoy those ACs as much as the Republic counterparts. The only Empire guy I am actually enjoying is my Powertech and I'm considering deleting my level 37 Commando or at least respeccing out of Gunnery.
  4. I gave up on space missions once I unlocked the "new" missions you get around level 40-42. They are literally impossible for me to complete as I have rebound my controls and so I can't move the ship left and right using the keyboard to avoid incoming fire . It also massively dissapointing to find out that missiles aren't one shot kills at that level, they reload far too slowly to fire off your whole capacity. Once you are at that level it becomes obvious that space isn't a nice few side missions you can do for a bit of light relief. It's a soul destroying grind of the easy training wheels missions to get commendations to afford the extra equipment to make the final levels possible (providing you haven't unbound your otherwise useless turn left/right keys).
  5. I did this quest with a friend a few weeks after launch. The very first combat we both almost died as we had become complacent about the difficulty of class quests up until that point. The stations around the place that give buffs aren't obvious what they do, or why you need that buff. That is awful game design. As a healer the UI is awful for me to be healing my companion/friend and also using CC and interupts on dangerous enemy abilities. That is awful game design. The whole quest basically shows up loads of poor game design decisions, that Bioware seem to be trying to deal with but that should of been sorted out before launch. There are a few other Class quests that have the same problem, The Lightspring, etc... and the fact that most of the game is face rolling easy doesn't prepare you for them or allow you to learn about using all your various abilities.
  6. Sages/Inq are given melee only abilites that make no sense. Yes they are mainly PvE abilites but it does show a level of confusion when designing abilities for ACs that are radically different playstyles. Commandos should have a ranged interupt it's one of many oversights/mistakes with abilites that are present for every AC in the game.
  7. If you are only running LS or DS decisions and missions then when you hit 10K LS or DS it sorts it's self out. I'm not sure about if you are playing a neutral character or picking both LS?DS decisions/mission as my characters that are doing that don't have diplomancy.
  8. It's certainly not the worst ship. I personally hate the Bounter Hunter ship, not because of the side pods, but because the main body looks like a massive Toblerone. The only good thing about it is it is easy to get around. I found the Agents ship the hardest to get around, it looks fantastic from some angles but horrible head on. Unlike the Consular's ship that has only a Captain's bed and a Med Bay bed. You have about 10-12 people living on there at the start of act 2 and only two beds .
  9. How many Europeans are playing on European servers at 3am-4am GMT/CET? Yes some people will roll onto the US servers, but there won't be enough to overload the servers unless they all roll on exactly the same server. This arguement keeps coming along with the arguement that people should be at work between 9am-5pm, well guess what those people that work during the day normally sleep at night .
  10. Definately more communication is needed. According to this forum the message about the sever going down for a patch came at 12:04AM GMT. So someone like me who had to get up early this morning and so went to bed early last night only found out the servers were down when I tried to logon after doing everything else I needed to today. That's not fun but okay it's an emergency patch, except I couldn't find out what the problem was and the patch notes seem to be a fairly minor issue. I was actually hoping it would be some sort of server fix for the massive server lag the European servers had a couple of days ago.
  11. Bowdaar is a pain, but that is because all melee tank companions are a pain. My main character is a Healer Sage and so I had to learn how to use Qzyen properly as he is the only viable companion for 40-41 levels. Melee tanks hold aggro much better then ranged tanks, as they actually use the AoE taunt properly. This means they die a lot quicker as the entire enemy group will hitting them which isn't normally the case with ranged tanks. Melee tanks need the best possible gear you can find/make to survive as they are standing in the most vulnerable place in a combat. If you are a healer they are fantastic if you use them properly (you can easily take on almost any group of enemies with decent resource management), turn them onto passive when you use your CC to pull enemies. Then pull the rest of the enemies away from the CC'd one (break line of sight, run away, etc...) and get Bowdaar to attack. The Throw ability makes it more difficult to manage Bowdaar so turn it off if you are having problems. It is a pain to deal with doing all of that for the melee tank companions, but sometimes you just have to use them for certain fights. If all you are worried about it killing stuff as fast and efficiently as possible then they are a poor choice for companions.
  12. Maybe I'm an killjoy, but I still don't understand why we can't see exactly what the next line our character is going to say. Just like playing Mass Effect I have to redo conversations because the option I selected bares no resemblance to what I actually said. Deus Ex Human Revolution managed to show you exactly what your going to say when you moused over an option. I also don't understand why there are options like "Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah" which when selected my character just says "Yawn" or "Boring". The spoken line is more then short enough to be the actual bloody option on the wheel .
  13. If it is really an emergency why wait until 6am (their time) to start fixing it when they started normal patching at 2am (their time) yesterday? If you are offering a global service (their words not mine) then you have to operate 24 hours a day, not 9-5 in your own time zone. You would have to be an idiot to run a shop in a distant country in a different time zone on a time schedule that is convienent for you not the customers in that country. Note CSRs: I am not calling the person I quoted an idiot . The hypothetical person running the shop is who I am calling an idiot. So I am not insulting anyone posting.
  14. Well yesterday I was umming and ahhing about whether or not to sub for a month, 3 months or 6 months. In the end I played safe and only selected a month. Now after looking at the news this morning I'm glad I only selected a month, I'm not sure what I am going to do this afternoon as I did everything I needed to do in my time off yesterday. If the service (not just maintainence and patching times) hasn't improved after another month I have a long hard think about paying for any more game time.
  15. I have found Tharan and Qyzen annoying in conversations. I haven't used Zenith that much, but he seems to another pain if you are going to play a light sided "proper" Jedi. I've stuck with using Qyzen because I am healer specced and need him in most situations. So I have to cope with one guy who hates not killing defeat opponents, one who hates jedi mysticism, and one who hates giving people a second chance, that pretty much covers every lightside conversation option the game throws up. I've been playing a Trooper alt as well and the first 3 companions are so easy to gain affection with. Anytime I am on the ship talking to Garza you can easily get 20-30 points with all of them with a single conversation option, just act like a good soldier and they love you. You also have a much better selection of options for companions much earlier in the game.
  16. If you have played as Trooper and tried putting helmets on Aric you'd know why they aren't playable. I don't think I have seen a single helmet that fits him properly. I'm not really that bothered that I can't play a Cathar. The oens in TOR are the boring/horrible Juhani type, if they actually proper Leonine Cathar I would be happy but as they aren't all I can say is Meh.
  17. It depends on the alien. If you are playing as a pureblood Sith you will immediately notice when you hit Dark II as you go a fairly bright pink . The changes to your eyes are almost impossible to see outside of a cutscene, and if you are playinga a Zabrak they are virtually indistinguishable anyway.
  18. That will be a problem, a huge problem, when the game is released in the Oceanics and they have Oceanic servers. As neither of those points are true right now, but the game is available in Europe and has European servers so greater consideration of our playtimes is an issue.
  19. I don't pay attention to how much each mission costs for the items when putting stuff on the GTN. It's too much hassle to keep track of it all, and when I am selling on the GTN I am trying to free up bag/cargo space not make a profit. I do a simple sell to vendor price + trade costs + some extra = end price. Crew skills and doing missions are meant to be money sinks, not a fantastic way to make a profit. Send your crewmate out to find hyposyringes or something and they will always come back with less then you could actually buy vendor for cost the mission.
  20. As there is now a annoucnement of Australian and New Zealand servers, there needs to be some serious thought about maintainance and patching works. If you think those of us playing in the EU are being unreasonable, they will be royally pissed that the servers are going down in their peak hours. It might be easier to patch and maintain everything at once, but the patching/maintainance process is EA/Bioware's problem not the customers. In pretty much every industry the customer doesn't care if something causes the company a problem, if it inconviences them or doesn't life up the standards they expect (and unsurprisingly people living in different countries/regions/cultures have different expectations) they go elsewhere. It's fairly basic business sense that if you want to operate in a global market you have to take into account that customers living in far away countries in different time zonse expect you to operate your business at a time that is convienent for them not you.
  21. I'm pretty sure that 6:30pm is the evening . That's at least what the time was in most of the EU when the servers came back up, in some places it was 8:30pm or 9:30pm.
  22. It might be one of the times when there are the lowest number of players in the game, but I'll bet the European servers are actually quite busy at 5pm. I'm sure that if you continue to use that time period, the European servers will be much less busy at 5pm everyday of the week. MMO players rarely need a good reason to quit playing a new MMO and your handing them a fairly decent reason to get annoyed. If the maintainence goes a little over as it did today you are cutting into European players prime/peak time hours. It might not be what you'd classify as prime/peak time worldwide, but it's bloody prime time for the Europeans and using marketing speak to fob us off only riles everyone up even more.
  23. There is an option to kill/save a prisoner on Ord Mantell in the Speratist base that really annoyed me. The option to kill/save him happens and then there is a further conversation option and the person that wins that roll kills the guy. My only options are to either kill him which I didn't want to do in the first place or annoy everyone else by waiting for the conversation to time out. Where is the pass option for conversations? Not only whould it help in these situations it would speed up conversatiosn including people using the Holocall option. As currently they can't select any options if it involves physical interaction with an NPC so you can end waiting for 2-3 conversations options to time out in a sigle conversation.
  24. I haven't tried respeccing more then once yet but doesn't the codex say that respecs reset to the cheapest price after a certain amount of time? It sounds like you are respeccing to do flashpoints and then again to do solo stuff in quick succession which the game is trying to stop you doing by making it very expensive to respec.
  25. At least as of 9:00am GMT there is a a third RP-PvE server. Now all we need is to lock the old ones to new characters in a couple of days time, or free transfers to the new server. There are already far too many people playing on the RP servers who wanted to or should be on normal PvE Servers but they were full and the queues were to long and new servers did open up fast enough.
