  1. An other idea building on things that I or others said in this thread... SWTOR doesn't have any sort of reputation system atm. The closest thing that comes to it would be the Social and Valor ranks you get for participating in PvP or Grouping up. I was thinking... what if each class has its own reputation that increases the standing of your character for it's "faction" (nor really the right word). A Darth's could get their rep up in the Dark Council "faction", Bounty Hunters in some sort of BountyHunterCollective, Troopers in Havok squad, Master Jedi's in their own Council, Agents in the "new" Intelligence,... I'm not entirely sure if each class ends up being part of a "faction" like that. The reputation would only be gained through class specific dailies, -quests or -activities (maybe give some for progressing on the story lines too)? Not making it a mere grind could be achieved by limitting the maximum amount of reputation one can gain each day/week. Though, by limiting the amount of resources (quests, activities) one would automatically limit the amount of gained reputation. Gaining ranks in this reputation could give you access to goodies (think Dark/Lightside vendor), but perhaps also increase the amount of Black Hole (or next) Commendations you get for completing the weekly quests or/and Ops bosskills. You are afterall collecting class specific gear with them (unless you have the full set or better). You could also relate titles when reaching milestones through the ranks, though i'm not sure what those would be for each class.
  2. I don't see what the "state of the company" has to do with it? Layoffs have always happened on every MMO game after launch (because the tech, core, etc is there). Actually, as far as i'm aware Bioware has layed off people rather late compared to other companies. @Star-ranger I know what you're getting at, but this too is sort of offtopic. I'm suggesting (i think) something that adds to the game that already exists and that personally, i see as something they could implement with current tech. What you are suggesting is fundamentally changing or adding tech to support random generated content, which needs to in turn be generated server-side and have data streamed to each person in that instanced area. I would expect this to be a rather heavy duty for the current servers and I don't see how this fits the design of SWTOR as it is now. I would agree that it could be interesting to see a propper MMO (haters gone hate .. but Diablo 3 is not an MMO) implement totally random generated areas and mob spawns, but i doubt it's gonna happen anytime soon. Besides.. in a very story-driven MMO like SWTOR you don't want randomly generated temples to be filled with randomly generated wookies with randomly generated hats having a randomly generated tea party. I can, however, see some minor randomly generated things happening in SWTOR eventually though, but not on the scale you are describing. Anyways, I'd be interested to see some more ideas on how story driven class quests could work though? What sort of profit or rewards could be made out of it and how to keep them interesting. I would agree that having a pool of 50-100 quests that are randomly picked would be great, but lets face it... not gonna happen.. thats just too much. I was actually thinking about companions being incorporated into these class quests too or ship upgrades (on the inside. Bioware already stated that atm they don't have the tech to customize the outside looks of the ships a while ago... though they were interested in adding it). These things are all sort of linked to your class. Companions could very well be the "quest givers" of these class quests. They are afterall just sitting on your ship as it is now. Ships could become throphy halls for your accomplishments as a Darth, Bounty Hunter, Master, Agent, Smuggler,... Though i wish if that were the case that you could show off your ship somewhat more to others. MOAR IDEAS Greets
  3. I have noticed this too on Republic side. I don't think it's really a problem as the Republic has overall more Aliens in their ranks, but i can understand why it could be annoying. On the Empire side, when looking at Belsavis and Black Hole dailies(actually, just the Thorvix one) it's all voiced in english. The reason being that the quest givers are all either Humans, Purebloods or Droids, which all speak english. I noticed while leveling my Jedi Knight though, that on Republic side there's ALOT more alien speech. I kinda like it, but it all depends on preferences
  4. Cheers for the replies! I agree on the fact that it'd be nice to not have a whole quest layed out in front of your in the manner of "Go there. Kill the mobs there. Use that item. Go back. Collect reward". With the Magenta Crystal for instance, it took some work to actually find out what to do and in what order. Now, i'm not implying stuff has to be as complicated and in a void as for the Magenta Crystal (there is no real "starting quest" for it). But some looking around and exploring would fit pretty well in this idea of class centric dailies/weeklies. For instance... I'm an Inquisitor and I get a quest to search for an artifact that could potentially reveal untold secrets and could help me against some rivals. I get a hint as to where i could find clues for this item... near a derelict republic ship? Hmmmm, there's some wrecks on Taris... The Endar Spire!?!? Arriving at the Endar Spire I notice that there's a Nekghoul who seems to be strong in the dark side and has learned the ways of primitive speech. You learn from him that he has in his posession a cube which seems to have some sort of power pulsating from it. The nekghoul is an obstacle. You kill him and get the precious cube. But wait... the cube's power is fading fast!? It still has an inscription "Blahblah, Tulak Hord Blah!" ... Oh dear, i know the Sith lord! On to his tomb on Korriban! There's a wall painting of him fighting one of his rivals... Kallig! Oh snap, On to Dromund Kaas! ... *Procedes to learn more about the cube and how it works* Then again. Quests like this might take long, which might demotivate some ppl. I'm not implying stuff has to be as "complicated" as my example... but it sure as hell would be cool and let you travel around a bit. Obviously... some ppl will whine and moan "WHY DO I HAF TO USE BRAIN? WHY NOT PUT ALL QUEST ON FLEET?" etc. Maybe split up a quest alike to the described one into little pieces and let ppl do them at their own pace 1-2 quests by day and progressing through them.
  5. Hey there! Not sure if anyone had thought about it yet or not (atleast i didn't find anything on it while browsing), but i was thinking about dailies... ironically, while i was doing dailies(!) and the thought occured to me. This is an RPG. I'm not an RP-player myself, but i thought it would be nice to have some sort of weekly or daily quests that tell more about what it "means" to be what you are playing. Now, i know that the class stories sort of continue with the Operations sort of, but besides some dialogue lines this Operation progression feels somewhat detached from your class. All of the Star Wars roles/classes that are in SWTOR atm have a purpose and have some sort of rank or standing that comes after completing ACT 3 (or earlier) of their respective class stories (Darth, Republic's Most wanted, Master Conspirator, Master, ...). So, wouldn't it be sort of nice that you can still feel like a Darth or a Master Jedi after completing the class story? One way to do this would be to give each class a pool of quests that could be dailies or weeklies that emphasise a bit on what it means to be what you are, what your standing is or simply that you're characters "life" continues in between stories that come from Operations (and expansions later). I don't know about others... but I'd prefer stuff like that more then doing dailies that are the same for all classes and that don't really immerse you into your character post Story. Maybe its just a matter of preferences. Don't get me wrong... i like quests that relate to planets and their situation in the war too, but they don't really make me feel like i'm doing something worthwhile for my character to progress in his/her standing. In fact, the new Black Hole dailies are quite dull in a story-perspective as most of the dailies are from a terminal. A few examples (only from classes i've played as i have no clue about other class quests or how the class is portayed): - I'm a Darth Inquisitor --> "Yo, go collect knowledge about this artifact that could help you destroy your opponents or teach you about knowledge thought to be long lost! It might give you an edge against the others amongst the Council" - I'm an Imperial Agent, Master Conspirator --> "Y U NO INFILTRATE THAT? And retreive valuable info while ure at it. Oh, and blowing stuff up is a bonus..." - I'm a Master Jedi --> "Hello master! Defend this temple and that other things, learn young padawans how to swing a lightsaber and try not to cut them in half?!" Obviously, i suck at story telling.. but i hope you sort of get the idea It would ofc be nice to not always be doing the same daily over and over again. Instead, having a "pool" of dailies/weeklies that are taken at random sort of to give it some variation (for as far as quests that are meant to be repetitive are "variation" that is ). A (or more) class-centric reward(s) would be nice too. Not lifechanging things imo, but perhaps goodies that suit your class. Haven't really thought about that much. On the other hand... it could also make more sense to make gear related things for your character/class, such as blackhole commendations , part of these class dailies as they are sort of ... you know... providing your character with gear, which is class specific. These quests could also make you travel to worlds that you might've visited previously which in turn would be a "nice" way to make ppl go into the world. What do you guys think of something like this? Do you think it would fit well in the storytelling of SWTOR or do you think it'll break a part of the game you're wanting to play? Or do you not care at all for these sort of things? Personally, i do dailies as often as possible, but i've been feeling somewhat "drained" the past few weeks due to the current dailies' repetiveness and somewhat shallow feeling of involvement of my character in them and in the world. It doesn't feel like my character is really gaining anything from them in a story-perspective. So why is he doing them (except for credits)? Maybe these quests could involve the Legacy system in them somehow? (By gaining a sort of reputation on a character base that improves its standing from a biographical standpoint for instance). Have you guys thought of some things like this? Additions? Obviously, i'm also interested to know what Bioware thinks about these sort of things, but i'm sure they have more important things to reply to Shoot! /Cheers Morf
  6. Hey there and thx for that info! Actually, that was one of the American websites i had found already. Dark Horse's website redirects you to it if you wish to buy from them. I found a shop located here in Belgium called Archonia with some help of a friend. They also import the comics i was seeking amongst other things and the total cost for the 5 Lost Suns entries was relatively cheap compared to the tfaw.com prices, so went with that. Cheers for the input though! Greets Morf
  7. Greetings everyone, I'm interested in purchasing hard-/paper cover comic books from the Star Wars The Old Republic - saga from Dark Horse comics. I've been fiddling with this for a while now and looked a bit around but only found American sites where i could order it for delivery, which would cost a whole lot more. So, I was wondering if there was a more European-oriented store/alternative where i could find them to order? I'm living in Belgium, so if there's a place in Belgium where i could get them that'd be great... but I doubt that'd be the case. I've searched on Amazon.co.uk for them and they have some of them, but not the ones i'm specifically interested in. I'm currently mainly looking for the "Star Wars: The Old Republic - The Lost Suns"-collection for now, but would be interested in the "Blood of the Empire"-collection too eventually down the road. I'd like to note that i'm not looking for a digital copy of these as I'd prefer the Hardcover version. Does anyone from Belgium/Europe/Anywhere have any advice on how I could optain these for relatively cheap (meaning about the same price as in the US without too much shipping costs)? Thanks in advance! Greets Morf
  8. You're getting ahead of yourself. "In March" =/= "1st day of March". It can be from the 1st day till the last day of March and still be a correct ETA ( = ESTIMATED time of arrival) Also, do you read the community news/News articles at times? They have said multiple times that the legacy system will be showcased and explained at the Guild summit that starts this upcoming monday. There have been some hints over the legacy system in the weekly Q&A too. Here's a link to the schedule of the Guild summit: http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20120302-0 The Legacy system was said to be released with pacth 1.2, which would come in March. Considering how things are looking now, i'd say we'd get it either the 20'th or 27'th of March, maybe it'll be earlier as ... you know ... the Guild summit hasn't happened yet and we don't know when they're planning to release it. Anyways, back to the OP. Legacy names are meant to be Server-specific. Who know, maybe they'll end up being account-wide, but tbh there's some people who like to go to an other server then theirs and start from scratch (or don't want to be found). And Opt-in option would be cool though... but maybe the Legacy system as they have designed it doesn't really allow for Cross-server legacies. We'll see in a few days!
  9. I have multiple questions... but damn you 1 question-per-thread! Here goes... Characters Story: With the latest patches it is clear that you guys are starting to expand on some stories. 1 example of that is the Kaon instance, which will be followed up (in next patch was it?). Are there plans to make people advance in their personal story in upcoming patches too or is this considered to be a "big step" that will be expanded on together with the leveling experience that comes together with new expansions of the game in the upcoming years? Also, same question goes for companions (though i suppose it's more likely to introduce new companions rather then expanding the stories of old ones to continue)? Thanks! Greets, Morf
  10. ^That, and agreed If it takes a forum-user 3-4 clicks to get to somewhere and end up... well, having to see a load of random stuff you don't really care about is not very user-friendly nor does it make sense. Grouping up Servers together for a forum has no meaning as you only care about your own server in most cases. Also, it is very tedious to actually find threads that are from your server as you get a dump of threads you have to filter through yourself. I think some sort of expandable subsection (like the expandable language tabs) with an alphabetically sorted list of ALL servers would be clearer, which when clicked send you straight to your own server forum. Some sort of cookie or account setting that also actually sets the servers you play actively on at the top or something would be great too down the line. I doubt this would be implemented anytime soon however. However, i did recall a quote a month or so back where they said they were revamping the site? Who knows... maybe it'll be all included
  11. Not everyone started playing at release. Nor does everyone actually have as much time as others to play this game. No need to go all "OLD NEWS OLOL" on newcomers.
  12. Here's what happens for Imperial players related to Revan after he returned to the Republic. Read at your own risks! There's some other quests related to Revan throughout the worlds, but they are more about his past then anything else. EDIT: my previous reply was completing the title of this thread btw, i just noticed what i said earlier was missinterpreted
  13. Hey all, I did the Foundry last night and was overly overjoiced when HK-47 popped up and... Revan afterwards. Then i was sad after the instance because of 2 reasons. First of all because of what happened in the foundry. I'm not going to elaborate as i'm sure some people haven't done it yet and i don't want to spoil too much. Then, and this made me sleepless... HK-47 didn't say something about annihilating "Meatbags". I have been waiting 8 years to hear HK say it again and when the moment of climax came... it didn't happen sadly Aaaanyways, enjoying this game alot so far and i hope the vibe will continue for a long long time to come! GJ Bioware. I'd also like to use this occasion to wish all the Bioware people, gamers out there and the readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the year to come be filled with joy and... pleasant meatbag meetings! Greets Morf
