  1. Transfers are still available for free--just go to the My SWTOR --> My Account --> Character Transfers. I do agree that it would be interesting to know what the plans are from here. Merge all superlight servers into one, so there are two populated servers of a given type? Stop character gen on them to let them die from attrition? Dunno.
  2. I think one thing people are missing is that 1.3 will contain not only the LFG tool, but ALSO the next part of Legacy unlocks. This includes (according to the Coming Soon features seen in-game, which could change) "Field Respec" as an unlockable ability. Not the same as Dual Spec, but once you have a group finder, the ability to respec in the field will cover much of the same immediate need to make a FP doable.
  3. I don't know how to use the combat log, but if you open your character sheet and hit the "Customize Appearance" button on the bottom right of the character ragdoll window, you can unify some or all of your gear to your chest.
  4. I won't flame, but I will say that I would be disgusted if they did follow that suggestion. I'm proud of Bioware for managing to make a game that avoids overly-sexualized content to this degree. Not that it entirely avoids it. Both tastefully and otherwise, there is still plenty of sexualization of characters (and, in fact, lots of sex); this game is hardly rated "G". I'd like a little more gender-balance to keep the torture of Vette and the female-only slave outfit from being such breakout sexism and creepiness, but they've already said that at least a male slave outfit is on the way.... so kudos to Bioware for their work so far. I highly doubt they would implement the above suggestion, and I really, really hope I'm right about that.
  5. While I don't personally like grinding through all dailies each day, I do enjoy seeing new and dynamic level 50 content.... As part of a future patch or xpac, I'd love to see continuing "class-story" content that includes dailies. This is partially inspired by the way our ships are very slightly similar to strongholds in Baldur's Gate I & II. For example, after reaching the Interlude, you receive mail, holo-calls, companion quests, or ship-terminal mission requests to perform a single quest each day. The quests rotate randomly (or sequentially first, and then randomly after) between a handful (maybe 3-4?) of different assignments. For example, as a Smuggler, dailies could be a little like this: 1. Risha, my companion, says she found us a job. A nobleman on Alderaan wants some rare Voss artifact, so we are going to a meet on Voss to pick it up. There, we get ambushed by security forces who explain that the artifact is highly important. We can (darkside) take the artifact, or (lightside) leave the artifact. 2. We get a call from someone (possibly a former class-chain contact, to add import) on Port Nowhere who needs help with a gambling debt. If we take his seat at the Pazaak tournament and win, we can keep any extra cash. We play, maybe some dialogue options are involved in bluffing our way through the tournament. If/when we win, our opponents pull a gun; we can talk our way out (lightside), Shoot First (darkside), or wait until our opponent shoots before firing back under the table (neutral). Others could be responding to distress calls, smuggling cargo to a location with more success than the Voss deal (taking med supplies to troops on the border? Food for stranded settlers?)
  6. I don't think so. I don't have any problem with more group PVE or PVP content being added, but I want more for individual experience as well.
  7. Rubat Crystal Server Republic Orland Kharot Gate
  8. I quite enjoy the space combat. I wouldn't mind them having done/doing something else, since they have said they have "big plans" for space in the far future, but I love the current version. Space combat isn't meant to be a dumbed-down flight simulator, and if I had expected a flight sim, I would be disappointed. I can see where some people are coming from. However, that isn't what was meant from the start; instead, it's essentially a souped-up version of the swoop racing minigame from KOTOR. Which, considering that this game is by the the same company, makes sense. Try to keep in mind the difference between "bad" and "I don't like it."
  9. This just occurred to me; as part of the upcoming Legacy feature, perhaps it would be sensible to make one of the 'unlockable character customization options' your color crystal. New characters on new accounts could have the basic options: Republic picks Green or Blue, Sith picks Red or Yellow (or some other option; not sure what is appropriate for starting Sith.) Legacy unlocks could include purple, white, orange, etc. Thoughts?
  10. Given the story-focused nature of this game, I'm all for crystal color being a choice characters can make early--perhaps even during character generation. High-level, high-stat crystals can be rare; fine. They can even be 'prettier' (sparkly, multicolored, whatever), but solid colors like purple would be a great chargen option.
  11. Others have given good info above, but I'd like to add that if you DO have a friend playing the game, group-leveling is a ton of fun. My wife and I are duoing the whole game, including both of our class quests (90% of the time, anyway, since some class-conversations are forced solo). It makes things a lot easier, and it also provides many more social points (which you only get from grouping). They aren't necessary, but they unlock some social gear, speeders, and pets later on.
  12. I experienced the companion-dialogue bug that seems common (I rapidly increased in Affection with Risha through gifts early but got no dialogue after a single quest to save a friend of hers; but then, at level 42, I got 11 or 12 conversations literally in a row), and wound up marrying Risha in a lightning romance that should probably have been spaced out over the last 20 levels :-) However, up until there, I had been playing my smuggler as an incorrigible flirt (though not always sleeping around). However, while I can counteract the loss of affection from flirting with other women, will flirting/if I accidently choose the 'wrong' flirts and wind up sleeping with someone else break off the romance with Risha? Anyone know?
  13. I'm afraid you cannot change your AC, at least not right now. They say it might show up in the future sometime, but it doesn't seem like it would be any time soon. You can 'respec' your Skills (talent points).
  14. Instancing is an excellent decision. It enables questing in the same area as a number of people (who you could call on for help) while still allowing you to experience intentionally designed combats which aren't messed up by players you DON'T choose to group with. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best of both single player and MMO experiences. Also, as far as server shards (instanced large areas, like the Fleet and the main sections of planets), I believe (though I don't have a handy link) that they officially said that was for launch. As has been pointed out up-thread, it will be eased back and possibly removed in the future, once the initial surge evens out and there are similar percentages of characters in each level bracket. And to those who feel the same, but feel that it's a minority opinion: remember that very, very few players post on the forums. Not in absolute terms, perhaps, but compared to the number who play, only a handful bother with forums. Even if every single person on the forums felt the same way about something, and we all lobbied for it, that doesn't mean BioWare should do it--it could be that 90% of the player base still detests it, no matter what we here think. I think it likely that the instancing is approved of by more people than dislike it, but I'll wait and see what BioWare does, since they'll likely be following the money.
  15. I'm also curious here. I've been playing my male smuggler as a shameless flirt, but I think I'd like to have him romance Risha--but I haven't had any interaction with her since we saved one of her friends as a quest. I'm level 42, on Hoth, at 8.5k affection. Did I 'break it off' with her by accident? She has expressed jealousy when I flirt with other women and she's around.
  16. Semantics; because they 'appear unharvestable' to your character/cursor, you cannot harvest them, even though the game thinks there is a resource node there to be harvested (ie, they are harvestable). When they fix it on the primary servers (they have fixed it, but they are testing the fix on the test servers as they well should), they will both BE harvestable (game will know they are there) and APPEAR harvestable (letting you harvest them).
  17. Posted on the 22nd, in the patch notes for the public test server:
  18. Thanks for the info; though I don't think the barrel roll moves the ship faster. On a rails shooter, that would change a lot of things (getting to the end of the rail before the time runs out would be a problem.) However, if there WAS a way to accelerate once you'd finished the objectives, I'd like that, though it would make it 'easier' because you wouldn't have to survive any remaining blaster fire.
  19. I'm not too fussed either way, but in terms of design philosophy I think they should leave the experience in. The idea here seems to be that players should be able to level however they want. If they want to PVP? Fine. Quest? Fine. Grind mobs? Fine. Space missions? Why should they be different? If you don't think you should gain experience from it, don't do it; but it shouldn't interfere with your play if someone else wants to level by space combat. Personally, I use space missions and PVP to help stay 1-2 levels ahead of the class-quest-area-content I'm doing, so I can play those without having to mash my head against walls when I come upon packs of elites/strongs, which are a pain after level 25. Also, I'm willing to bet that whatever their 'big update' to space is going to be (don't have the link, but check the dev posts), it will include more complications that make space missions more 'worth' their experience gain.
  20. PVP and space battles are decent ways to gain XP, it's true. I went from the beginning of 34 to 35 in about an hour and a half, running space missions (dailies plus repeating one over and over). However, the game is a LOT faster if you two-man the content. My wife and I have been running together since Coruscant, and it's a lot of fun (both the game play and the story, since we can see most of each others' class quests), and it also makes the slower content easy enough that we can still feel like Epic Heroes (we don't have to worry about the occasional extra pat pulling, and we can complete 2+/4+ areas when slightly overleveled) without making the content feel pointlessly simple. And then, it also sends our social points through the roof. Not a big deal so far, but there're some cool speeders at 4 and 5 Social Rank.
  21. Completely agree; my wife and I are duo-stomping our way through the quests, and it's an excellent experience!
  22. Related and slightly off-topic questions for fellow spacers: 1. If you DO use the proton torpedoes, what happens? 2. Is there a way to destroy shielded areas without them (massive damage)? 3. Does Barrel Roll (spacebar) actually DO anything?
  23. I do the space missions daily--love them!--but it's true that they aren't perfect. Nothing ever is, at least to everyone's differing opinions. My thoughts: 1) More would be better. Maybe 1 every level would be "too many," but unlocking them more often, either through leveling or playing the missions themselves, would be good. 2) More craftable ship gear/ship drops from missions/cosmetic mods for your ship would be good (battle damage, extra cargo pods, paint jobs, etc; just for appearance's sake) 3) What good is doing a barrel roll?
  24. I have both Grade 2 and 4 on my Cybertech crafter. Grade 2 increases toughness to 3000, and adds (I believe) 4 Blaster damage. Grade 4 increases toughness to 2650, and adds (I believe) 5 Blaster damage. I somehow don't think the 1 damage increase is worth it. Perhaps the values should be switched? No armor to Grade 1 only adds about 200, so adding 1000 for Grade 3 does seem like a lot. Checking here to see if there's any known explanation, or if it's just an error.
