  1. By custom, I assume you mean the moddable stuff, since you put it in orange? If so, you get this stuff all over the place: quest rewards, boss drops, crafting (though you need to get the schematics, not taught by trainer from what I've seen), etc.
  2. I love it. Dev says "Players have been warned for exploiting chests on Ilum with low level toons." Angry nerds hear/read "Players have been banned for going to Ilum at low level and looting chests." See what I did there? I even made the important bits bold, so the point would maybe come across a bit clearer. I also love how the majority of the people up in arms about this somehow know exactly what said exploit is, even though it hasn't been mentioned once and in fact has been repeatedly said that they won't go into details. Seriously, unless you were one of the people who got your wrists slapped and actually have some light to shed on what the exploit at hand may or may not be, then you're just spreading baseless gossip that doesn't help anyone. I'm not even going to try and understand how people possibly took away from the original statement that they somehow couldn't mail credits to their own toons or repeatedly gather resource nodes in an area, etc... lol I get that there are probably some people new to the MMO scene playing this game and I specifically exlude them from my following comment, but c'mon... just about everyone knows the difference between amassing credits for personal wealth and actual gold farming - there's no need to be a d-bag and play around with semantics because your butt-hurt over what is very likely a long list of things you're very certain BioWare has done wrong so far.
  3. I agree 100% that datacrons aren't really optional. Anyone whose taken the time to get every datacrons in the game is going to have a considerable stat advantage at level 50 as other players the same level who haven't collected any. Especially since after the first few planets the stat bonus rewarded starts to jump in value; +2, +3, +4, etc. That being said, I don't really agree with the repetition bit. Granted, it's only actually fun for me the first time tying to solve the riddle of how to reach the datacron. However, this is also the only time the jumping/climbing gives me any kind of trouble. I only say that as someone who has had to continuously roll alts since launch because my friend can't make up his mind about what he wants to play and I've not gathered all the datacrons on the starting planets, Coruscant, Taris and Nar Shadaa at least 3 or 4 times. Even considering I found half of them back in Beta originally, I still find that I can generally just blow right through them as long as I've done it at least once. I get that not everyone is good at that kind of thing, but to each is own. You can't be good at everything, unfortunately.
  4. This. Still. I sort of agree with the OP to an extent. Most of the issues with alignment restrictions don't effect the majority of my characters in the long run, but at the same time I can still sort of see how it's maybe slightly unfair to reward certain people and not others. All I mean by that is this: while I don't feel as if I'm being punished, it still kinda sucks just a little bit that I'll never get to use some of those higher level relics on a couple of my toons because of the fact that my actual alignment rating will probably never go beyond rank 1 or 2 in either direction. I also think it's kind of just silly as all hell that I can't use a red color crystal 5 out of 7 days of the week simply because my Jedi's rating is generally Light Side I or maybe II, but I make enough Dark Side choices that I've dropped to Dark I at least once so far as well. Also, to all the people who say if you're not fully Light or Dark you're not doing it right - really? Are you all robots?
  5. I am 28. In my defense, I don't think I ever *truly* grew up though. Anyway. I play Republic exclusively. However, most of my friends play Empire. They come in all shapes/sizes/ages, ranging from 18-30. I don't think age really matters. Being bad, or a rebel of any sort, is usually far cooler than being the "hero" these days. Especially in video games, where we have been largely forced to play the "good guy" for longer than I care to remember. Besides, I know just as many - if not more - adults who are far less mature, or intelligent, than half the teenagers I bump into in video games these days. Still. At least one thing can be said for us, the older crowd: we definitely do all the b*tching/moaning/QQing.
  6. Honestly, the utter lack of story or real content in MMOs is what drove me to stop playing them about 2 years ago and just wait patiently for this game to come out. Sure, there were some other mitigating factors involved, but this was largely the reason. Now, you're more than entitled to your opinion - as everyone is - but the one thing I can't stand about you naysayers is you always seem to think you speak for the whole community. You don't. No chat bubbles and boring emotes make a game soulless? Really? This honestly made me want to stop reading your post altogether, but as it was one of the first things you said I kept on trucking. Also, just because you find Warzones to be boring doesn't mean they are "the worst ever in any mmo" or even close. Now, again, you're more than titled to your opinion just don't say it in a way that makes it sound like a fact. Warzones are the equivalent to any basic battleground style PvP match in any other game. You want some of the worst PvP ever, then I direct you toward such games as Aion or SWG (oh wait...). I guess I just don't get what you're saying here. Or rather, I just completely disagree. I hate to be that guy, but in this case, it sounds like you're just doing it wrong bro. First off, you went and made a comparison to a single-player game; second, when it does come to single-player story, BioWare does it best (Bethesda makes great games, sure, but their writing and character development ain't got **** on BioWare). Honestly, I'm entirely sick of MMOs where I'm just another faceless stranger being pulled off the street to complete seemingly random heroic tasks. At least in SWTOR I have a personalized story that directly connects me to the game world and gives me some sense of purpose beyond some random NPC shouting, "Hey you! You look tough! Wanna help me?" Also, how does a completely innovative group system designed around multi-player conversation and decision making drive people apart at all? In my experience, this has only brought people together more. Long story short - I'm not flaming you. Just felt I should offer my two cents as I'm sure people reading these posts might actually take it on faith and actually believe there's something terribly wrong with this game. Which there really isn't.
  7. Yeah, the guide was clearly put together in Beta. There are also no longer any items found via Archaeology to effect the creation process, such as emitters and what not. And the shard combos listed are def off/wrong.
  8. I pre-ordered from Best Buy back on 10/20. Got my code about 5 mins after my order was confirmed. I did, however, hear similar rumors regarding Gamestop no longer offering codes at that time so I too avoided ordering through them (even though they're usually my defauly for physical purchases). Also, please don't take this the wrong way but .. Origin = better support? For reals? You do know that's EA, right? Anywho, here's to hoping tomorrow sees us October folks getting our early access. Cheers!
