  1. I liked this very much and I think you bring up a very valid point especially at the end. A lot of peoples bars of expectation were set to ridiculously high levels and keep bashing Bioware for answers to outrageous demands. Thanks for the insight as well, I was unaware of a few of the details in there.
  2. I dont need to work for a company to know their value and how they treat consumers. Thats like saying I should work at McDonalds because their hamburgers are known for not being the best in comparison to some gourmet burger joint. It's not baseless, its opinions created by facts. I have a right to my opinion, as you do yours. I feel EA has held back Bioware and thats my take on it. A better example would be why some people buy Call of Duty games from Treyarch as opposed to Infinity Ward or vice versa.
  3. Valid points and well said. I agree, I admit Star Wars is what brought me here, even though I've loved any game Bioware has ever made.
  4. I'm stating facts that EA has a poor consumer trust, this is fact not opinion. Yes, I have my own opinions of them as well, which I have a right to voice as all the hundreds of other threads seem to do lashing out at everything else but the main source.
  5. Stop looking to troll, I'm looking for constructive feedback on what the post entails not what my thread subject heading is.
  6. To make a long story short, the reason being is that you misread the fact that yes Bioware developed the game, but they have very minimal say on what gets pushed out.
  7. Perhaps you should read my post and not just the subject line before commenting.
  8. Because criticizing a post with an analogy that isn't being offense is immature, right? If that's the case, then I suppose I could say the same for you? I'd like to see some of the picture of Twi'leks who wear full helmets or covered their whole lekku in a hood. I've yet to see one, and honestly how would that fit underneath all of that anyway? To use WoW as an example, Taurens helmets had holes in them for their horns, it looks stupid but thats how they made them able to wear helmets, yet hoods somehow magically conceal their horns.. I dont know the best answer really to 'fix' this per se, but I'd imagine a good majority of players know MOST Twi'leks don't wear anything on their heads.
  9. Unlike other games MMO's are heavily controlled more so by the publisher than by the developers. Yes, the devs have some input but ultimately the publisher is the one who has the final say in what is released, when and what it will entail. EA even stated from pre launch that if SWTOR doesn't meet or exceed their expectations they will essentially abandon the game. Bioware over the years has made great titles, INCLUDING SWTOR. However, I firmly believe EA's deathgrip is holding back many of the key elements of the game that had been promised on launch and not yet delivered. EA is known to be an extremely untrustworthy publisher and has very low consumer trust, however Bioware on the flip side has a very high consumer trust. I feel as where people feel some areas of the game that have shortcomings are not due to the development but due to poor marketing by EA executives. I feel that EA knowing that this is Star Wars, and developed by Bioware put them in a situation where they could essentially throw together anything, release it and sell tens of millions of copies on simply just that alone. This is my personal belief of what I see will be the major issue with the game in the future. What company will publicly say if the game they are supposed to back will be basically abandoned within a year if it doesn't meet their standards for sales and continued subscription numbers? I love this game, and I sure hope that my concern stays merely just my extreme bias for EA labeled products and doesn't play out to eventually ruin what has the potential to be a very long lasting and outstanding MMORPG.
  10. OP sounds like a 6 year old kid demanding something from his parents or he will hate them. Make your post constructive instead of threatening Bioware to change something because you rolled a character that is an alien race with a differently shaped head, of which lore wise DOESNT wear ANYTHING but a small headpiece at times..
  11. This will probably be a long post, perhaps a bit of a blog about my experiences thus far but I wonder if there are others in my boat.. I have yet to really find my main character in this game. I currently have a 42 Merc, which I loved so much but I'm a RP'er and from that standpoint I felt left out in much of my guilds RP due to most guilds on the server my two highest characters are on very unsociable, rather empty even during primetime hours and focus typically on either Sith/Jedi RP. I got burnt out with that character and decided to make a Sith Marauder, of which is now level 38. I found the story of the Sith Warrior very fun so far, and However even with all that, I felt the Marauder to be rather squishy and didn't quite appeal to my playstyle. I've rolled on a few other higher population servers, tried a Jedi Shadow, found the story to be lackluster and wish that if you were to go the path of a grey Jedi as I did that there would be gear suited toward that, being neutral left me hampered at times on gear availability. I also didn't enjoy the fact even if you are dark aligned the story doesn't seem to progress any different, so the darkside choice is more aesthetic choice than anything else. I also tried a Sith Inquisitor but the lightning although awesome to look at visually is overused and gets me bored quickly.. So now I'm back once again, this time I rolled a new Sith Warrior and have gone the path of the Juggernaut.. So far, so good I think, although the sad part is I did roll this character on a higher population RP-PVP server and therefore lost my legacy as a result. Even though the leveling of legacy is fairly easy, and so far there doesn't seem to be a great deal of benefit out of it since the cost of the good things are outrageous I just feel like a lost soul, searching the galaxy trying to find what is right for me.. So, is anyone else in a similar situation where you just are stuck trying to find YOU among your current character choices and which one you know for certain you can say "This is my main and always will be"
  12. I was wondering after you get to level 50 and complete your final class quest, and are also maxed out with your companion affection do they stop wanting to talk with you? Also aside from your 'main' companion who gives you quests off the ship, do any others give any later on?
  13. Ok I'll give that a shot then. Thanks guys for the help. Cheers
  14. Anyone or customer service can you assist?
  15. I just built a new rig yesterday but throughout my gaming tenure I have used Nvidia cards. I decided to go with a crossfire setup of HD 6770's. Playing the game when running Crossfire I get black bar flickering, but if I turn off crossfire its fine. I have the most current Catalyst 12.4 and I downloaded the application profiles as well. For some reason under the application profiles however, I cannot see anything in the dropdown even though it says it installed correctly. Is there anything I need to change in order to see the dropdown? Also what settings for best performance with minimal quality loss should I set the for the settings in the CCC?? PC Specs: i7 2600k 3.4 ghz 16GB DDR3 Ram 2 TB HDD 750W PSU and of course the dual HD6770's
  16. I made a silly and rather stupid mistake the other day of accidentally purchasing the wrong piece of equipment through commodation tokens. I do realize it asks you before purchase, but anyone can make a simple misclick and then have no ability to refund the item. Can we get some sort of refund ability in a window of time? Perhaps up to 45 mins after purchase for a refund of the commodations?
  17. Dantooine makes the most sense, as it was in the KOTOR series and can fit into the lore well for the time period. Endor wont make any sense as it wasnt even known about until ROTJ and was only used for the shield generator for the Deathstar II. I also feel Kessel would be cool, especially since they could really add some nice smuggler story into that planet.
  18. MMO's are not like going to the movies where you pay $30 for ticket, popcorn and drink and if you dont like what you see never see it again. Things change very often with development, one month is not a good benchmark to know how things will progress or regress. With your logic and not really any commitment to a new game you would probably be better off not subscribing and just play the free weekends offered to see if it meets your standards.
  19. Pretty much this. One year is a good benchmark for what direction the game is going and how issues will be handled. The first year of an MMO is the most critical, as usually within 6-8 months of launch if a mass majority of the playerbase is unhappy with various things they will begin to look elsewhere. AOC was a good example of this, as the game released with very high hopes but was unpolished, incomplete and very buggy. Within 6 months the subscription based dropped horribly low, and well the game is all but dead now due to poor development and customer service.
  20. Are there any plans to improve upon character emotes as in adding sounds to more emotes like /lol? Also are there any plans to improve on the world interactivity by allowing characters to sit in chairs other than onboard their ship?
  21. GW1 was a totally instanced game, the only place where you could interact with people was in towns and outposts. Other than that think of your class quest in this game, that was how GW1 was EVERYWHERE. Also, there was no mounts, you couldnt jump, couldnt swim plus a plethora of other things. GW2 does boast a lot of the "standard" MMO fare plus more, but I dont believe it to take away many subs because its a free to play game, you only purchase the retail box. Like any other MMO, its always going to be the next best thing since sliced bread, until they play it..
  22. Another thing to add is that 11 million or whatever WoW has now was nowhere near that number in its same stage of its life as SWTOR is. If I remember correctly, during Vanilla WoW it was at around 1 million as well. I believe the huge jump of subscribers happened when the game became a pop culture icon being referenced in TV Shows and movies.
  23. People who play MMO's seem to be the most over dramatic and demanding players I've ever gamed with. Nothing is ever good enough and that "next game" is always going to be "this games" killer.. Also people never seem to play more than one MMO at a time therefore they always feel like they must defend "their" game of choice. GW2 may not be as such, due to the no monthly fee, but still.. I really hate where the gaming community has gone in recent times, people always out to hate on a game that doesn't have everything handed to them just the way they want.
  24. All businesses lose and gain customers consistently. It doesn't mean they are going under or its all doom and gloom. Some people came here with ridiculously high expectations and didn't participate in the beta so had no idea what they were getting into. The rumor mill that started a long time ago caused the hype machine to overload so people are up in arms about stuff that was never mentioned to be here upon release. I'd say the numbers are great for still what is a brand new MMO. People seem to forget this game isn't even 6 months old yet, and are already going around acting like it must be perfect in all aspects of development. The WoW people come here and try to make comparisons to a 7 year old game that had years of fixes and changes plus expansions that added content.. I'm here for the long haul, I love SWTOR and although there is much room for improvements I will stick it out and pay my $15 a month to see how things end up later down the road.
  25. I agree 100%. I feel emotes need sound, not to mention we need to have more functionality with objects within the game. (ie being able to sit in chairs other than the ones on your ship) Also fix the sit animation and make them different for different class/race/sex. The girlish sit on my huge Sith Marauder just doesn't look right AT ALL. Bioware please realize we RP'ers need a sense of immersion with emotes.
