  1. Already done, man... I even highlighted the important part.
  2. Ah... pure irony. One of the forms of griefing from the link you posted
  3. You keep saying that... have they acknowledged that this was bug, cause last I heard they hadn't
  4. That wouldn't be against your will... you would make the choice to do so I've never said otherwise... however, not all of the various methods of involuntary flagging have been admitted as bugs.
  5. Well, again, since you've never played other MMOs, I guess you don't know that none of these are unique to TOR (except the way crafting is handled). But, being unflagged against your will is not something you really see in other games... so I maintain it's at best as griefable as any other game. There is no may about it... it's entirely separate. While exploits and hacks affect both PvP and PvE, game developers, in my experience, tend to focus on the things that affect PvP quicker as "fairness" is, arguably, more important in PvP.
  6. I agree with that... in my opinion, the biggest mistake they made was to reward you for exploding. If there was no reward, people would still do it, for the stupidity factor... but it would've been nowhere near as prevalent. I think that happened in the extended special edition deleted scenes!
  7. There are rules of plague and pandemics in a fictional universe? I must've missed the memo. Did someone do a thesis on the rakghoul virus and submit to the CDC (or their imperial/republic equivalent)? Sure, Luke and Han had a lot of trouble getting off Tatooine with the entire Empire trying to stop them. Our characters are powerful... I think of the things they've done over the course of their story and realize they are among the most powerful people in the galaxy (story-wise, of course). If I need to get off Tatooine, no containment soldiers are going to be able to stop me. Speak for yourself... I thought it was pretty cool
  8. How is it harder to grief in this game exactly? Based on the evidence I've seen (the various ways someone can have their PvP flag forced on for example), it's actually easier to grief in this game than most. Nothing in that post says that people were "caught and sent away permanently" due to things that transpired during the world event.... in fact, the specifics mentioned revolve around hacking (speed hack and teleport hack). So I wouldn't assume that it was because they gave you the rakghoul virus on the fleet.
  9. Yes, it is silly. As I pointed out in the prior thread, you can actually find a definition of attacking (combat actually) in the New Player Guide that you often like to quote. It states that to attack you left click or press the corresponding key for the ability you want to use. You do neither with the rakghoul disease. You cannot trigger it, you cannot direct it, unless you manually time it you have no idea when it's going to occur, when you're about to explode, you cannot move. If BW meant it to be an attack, thats about the worst "weapon" even developed.
  10. Using you to complete mission objectives has nothing to do with grouping, and therefore the rule you stated is not applicable.
  11. Those are rules for joining groups.... they didn't add you to their group against your will, did they?
  12. The first time I ever played on a PvP server, to play with friends who had already rolled on the server, I was so concerned with being ganked. I hated the thought of it. My concern was so strong that I altered my play style in an attempt to avoid being ganked. In short, I did not enjoy playing. Eventually... I got ganked. At the moment, I had an epiphany... it wasn't that big a deal. I realized that the person that was ruining my game play was me. From that point on, I stopped worrying about it... I still didn't enjoy it... and I still took steps to avoid it... but I no longer stressed over it and my enjoyment of the game came back. I'm not saying that we should ignore griefing.... but, and I'm trying to stress this as much as I can, while you clearly didn't like what happened to you, I assure you that was not what most people would consider griefing. True griefing is somewhat rare, in my experience... and completely disruptive, not just inconvenient.
  13. With all due respect, fact vs opinion is entirely relevant to this discussion. In fact, I'd say it's at the very heart of it, as each side is essentially arguing which actions are covered by the rules of conduct and which aren't. While I completely disagree with the OP's points... I due support his request for some comment from BW as to what is prohibited by the rules and what is acceptable in regard to this discussion.
  14. Their intent was not benevolent? I would think it more likely that their intent was to complete a quest the BW created or to acquire, and help others acquire resources (DNA samples) that BW rewards you for the infection.... lol, I'd think that was FAR more likely their intent than to make you mad. Where does it say anywhere that someone has to ask your permission to use you to complete a quest?
  15. Ah gotcha.... that makes sense to me.
  16. Yes, as has been mentioned a few time, almost everyone agrees that the involuntary flagging was not a good thing. The poster I was responding to, however, insists that passing the disease to someone on the fleet should also be considered griefing. My point still stands, though, actions BW takes against individuals will almost never be made public, as is the case in just about every MMO I've played. The exceptions are usually very high profile situations (such as the original white crystal exploit)
  17. I'm not sure you actually read what I wrote... but as I said, people should not expect to be informed of what action, if any, BW takes. So, they will probably receive no proof, no evidence to draw a reasonable conclusion. I know that this is your first MMO, so you probably don't realize that not being informed of every action that BW takes is normal. Also, not sure where you got the idea that I actually care what you do, I'm just enjoying the opportunity to poke holes in almost every point you make... so thank you for providing that opportunity! Oh, or were you being sarcastic?
  18. How do you know they weren't addressed? Do you think BW makes a public announcement every time they issue a warning to someone? That's really what it boils down to... do you want to know what griefing is? It's what BW says it is. All you can do is report instances you think qualify and leave it in their hands. They're not going to tell you what action they take... nor should they. You can keep screaming "help help I'm being griefed" till you're blue in the face... and maybe BW agrees with you and does something about it... maybe they don't. Either way, they're probably not going to tell you what action they take against your alleged griefer. So make your complaint and move along. I'm not sure what you are hoping to achieve with the public crusade, but I'm fairly certain it would be far more effective to complain in game. Posting here, just leads to people (many people, apparently) disagreeing with you. Report it and let BW decide.
  19. Heh, not at all uncommon in games like this. I know I'm not going to "win" this argument which is fine by me; as long as I'm entertained, I'll keep on posting. Not sure if people realized this but you could remove the stun affect with an escape ability.
  20. I believe you misunderstood the previous poster.... his point, I believe, was that you can't call it a disruption of "normal" gameplay... as events like this are in of themselves "normal" elements of MMO games. A point I'd have to agree with. You said yourself that this is your first MMO, so perhaps you're not aware that things like this are normal. One thing we can agree on is the need to eliminate griefing as much as possible. Where we differ is what should be considered griefing. Since you are new to MMOs I doubt you've experienced true griefing in an MMO environment before. If you had, I'd suspect your obvious outrage over this event would be substantially lessened. Once again, your outrage is misplaced. Blame BW, if you must, but the player base (with some exceptions... like the intentional flagging of people) was only playing the game BW gave them.
  21. I have all 8... I got lucky, took me only 15 boxes to get them all
  22. That's because you pick and chose what facts to accept. You have not been able to refute a single point I've made, other than to say... "Nope, I don't believe that".
  23. Seriously you're going to use realism as an argument? Playing these games you have to suspend disbelief a bit. I understand you're a big WZ guy.... you think it's realistic to be able to queue up for a WZ from anywhere? Other than involuntary flagging (which, I understand, cannot happen on the fleet, as it can only be done by the opposite faction) please explain how any of this event can meet the criteria of griefing. Can't argue with there... detrimental effects are detrimental. Welcome to MMOs. World events are nothing new... world events that you can't opt out of are nothing new. Can't argue with that either.... however, the "right content to play" is the content that BW gives you. They never promised that you could do whatever you want... they promised, and delivered, a story-driven MMO. This event is an element of that story.
  24. Heh, I'm not sure whether thats a good thing or not. I'm not a lawyer... but to be honest, this stuff is so obvious it practically argues itself.
  25. LOL... what are you talking about? Are you commenting on my saying that there are no specific PvE rules? Possibly you're not understanding what I'm saying? I was pointing out that the rules of conduct are the same whether you play on a PvE server or a PvP server. Obviously the game rules are different... but the Rules of Conduct are not. I'm happy to know I'm proving your point... I just wish I knew what your point was, then I could do an even better job of it for you.
