  1. Total overhaul of the crafting system, hard and challenging endgame content, space content not on rails, more exploration options instead of all these boring and linear planets. The crafting system sounds good on paper, but just doesn't work. Bioware stated that dedicated crafters will be able to make a name for themselves. This is false, nothing seperates me from the other craftes on my server. We all learn the same things from our trainers. We all craft the same purple items. Boss fights and the overall mechanics of just about every fight are boring and uninteresting. I like the design of instances and raids, much better then the straight halls and rooms filled with adds and bosses that WoW has. Space needs a total overhaul, even more than crafting. It's just so sad a shooter on rails is the best Bioware could come up with. If you wanted to add space, but didn't have something better then a rail system that was prevalent in the 90s then simply do an entire expansion focused on space. The lack of exploration pretty much explains itself. There is nothing massive about this MMO. Bioware really dropped the ball on this aspect of the game.
  2. Yeah this game is way too linear. It's missing the whole MASSIVE part of an MMO. I understand this isn't a sandbox MMO, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to explore more if we want. The Star Wars universe has so much lore and so many locations to offer and instead of taking advantage of all the established lore and locations we get nothing. Seems pretty lazy on Biowares part IMO.
  3. Healing in general in this game is pretty boring. I heal on my sorc and it gets real boring spamming the same two heals and a bubble all the time. Not having macro support seems like a huge step backwards. I can understand Bioware's fear of people botting, but Blizzard does a pretty good job at detecting botters and banning them. It just seems lazy on Biowares part. They spent $200 million on this game yet they were unable to add macro support and figure out a way to detect people who bot.
  4. I am extremely disappointed with crafting in this game. While the game was being developed I remember reading somewhere about Bioware saying how dedicated crafters would be able to make a name for themselves...what a total let down. There is nothing that makes me different than any other crafter on my server. I agree 100% that the randomness of the system is a terrible way to have any crafting system. I would have thought that Bioware would have been able to come up with a much more compelling system since they are Bioware, but clearly I and many other people were wrong. I don't understand why all the hesitation to give crafters what we are asking for, a system that is engaging and worthwhile. Some people like to pvp, some people like to pve, others like to craft. How would all the people that like to pvp feel is there was hardly any pvp? What is there were no raids?
  5. I don't have as much crafting experience as some of the other people posting in this thread, but having just started working on my snythweaving I can say crafting is not a waste or time nor credits as long as your willing to work at it. A few days ago I dropped about 50k to buy a bunch of mats so I can make a bunch of augments to RE. When I was done I had learned how to make 4 epic augments, I made one of each, threw them on the GTN for around 100k each. The next day I had over 400k waiting in my mailbox. Now I'm not saying my results are typical or constant, but it just felt nice making that money. The crafting system is far from perfect and I do wish it had be done differently, but this is the system we have and have to make due with that we got. The game is new enough so that Bioware could possibly change things around. The only way change will come about is if people can actually post productive comments and ideas about the crafting system instead of just coming here and complaining that the system is broken.
  6. You learn the schematic from your synthweaving trainner. Kit MK-1 through MK-6. At max level you want to make the MK-6 kits. You will see that one of the mats required is augmentation slot component mk-6 x10. You get those either from buying them off the GTN or you can get them yourself by RE'ing high level green items that you make, such as http://www.torhead.com/item/fAtEig/dark-synth-boots Once you have 10 of the augmentation slot components and all of the other required mats you can then make an Augment kit. After you make your MK-6 kit you can either sell it or use it to add a slot to a piece of gear.
  7. People are never happy. If RE'ing had a really high chance to occur then everyone would be walking around with the same schematics thus making the auction house flooded with the same items all the time. By having RE have a low chance to happen this causes several things to happen that are actually good for the game's economy. 1. Takes crafting materials out of the economy, which means people have to farm more to keep up with the demand. As long as there is a demand people will be supplying the materials needed, thus giving both crafters and gatherers something to do. 2. Slows down the rate at which people learn various schematics. This helps control the rate at which items are put on the auction house. If everyone learned how to make the same item at the same time then the auction house becomes flooded, driving down demend, but raising supply, which causes prices to crash as people compete to see their item before someone else does. Granted sooner or later the person next to me is going to learn the same items that I have, whether it happens tomorrow or next week. But it goes back to him needing to keep buying raw materials or farming them himself, which then drives the economy. I know many of the people reading this are either going to go against everything I have said, not read this at all, or argue against everything I have said. That's all well and good, this is my opinion I am by no means an expert on the mathematical formulas that Bioware uses to determine RE chance nor do I know exactly how the in-game economy works. I am simply trying to develop and talk about valid points as to why RE'ing has a low chance and why a higher chance would actually harm the economy.
  8. RE'ing is fine. The problem is the community. Way too many people only care about instant gratification. Anything that takes any prolonged amount of time and effort they feel it is a broken system. Is it annoying making a bunch of some item, RE'ing it, and not learning anything new? Sure it is. There has been many times where I'm sitting here thinking damn this kind sucks. But I just go to something else and try again later. The crafting system in this game is pretty terrible, it sounds cool on paper, but in practice it just fails. If everyone got whatever schematic they were going after by RE'ing one item then there would be that much more competition for people trying to sell the same item further driving down prices. I like the general idea behind RE'ing something, but if definitely needs to be tweaked or totally reworked. I understand this isn't a sandbox MMO so we can't and won't see a crafting system similar to what SWG offered, but is one many people including myself consider one of if not the best crafting system of any MMO to date. While I like the current system a lot more then what is offered in WoW, I just wish it was more then what it is in it's current state. I am enjoying playing Star Wars, but it is just missing the exploration factor that you find in some other MMOs. Again I understand this is a theme park style MMO, not a sandbox, but I really wish everything didn't feel so linear. A MMO is supposed to be MASSIVE, but with each planet I go to it's all the same thing. You are unable to explore a large part of the planet, areas are closed off, often times the only way to enter somewhere is from only one entrance. Kind of went off on a tangent so I'll stop myself lol. The game is still pretty new so there is a lot of room for change as long as Bioware is willing to listen to what it's playerbase is asking for, but honestly I don't feel that happening. The general vibe I get from this game and the community is that Bioware simply doesn't understand how to run an MMO and make it work. I love Bioware as a company and I really hope they can get things back on track with this game before it just becomes another failed MMO and turns into a crappy F2P game with pretty graphics.
  9. The reason the money sinks seem so extreme is because of how easy it is to make hundreds of thousands of credits with very little effort. You simply get too many credits from quest rewards, dailies, and crew skills. Credits simply don't have any value. My first toon had around 350k by the time I re-rolled a new main and I only got him to level 36. I have slicing, scavenging, and bioanalysis, all maxed out. Bioware made a huge mistake rewarding so many credits. It was really ruined the future economy of the game. Items are already going for over 1 million credits now and the game hasn't even been out for a year. How much are items going to be next year? Or the year after? It just seems ridiculous for items to cost so much. I understand that since credits are so easy to get that paying say 1 million isn't a problem itself, it's just the fact it seems foolish to physically have that much money. Obviously there are many people who are going to read this post and disagree with what I have to say and that's fine. This is just my opinion, I'm not right nor am I wrong. I just think Bioware went overboard with the amount of money that we as the players are given for doing dailies, quests, and crew skills.
