  1. I for one would like to see this area of the game be expanded a little bit. Rather than being a once in a long while event I would like the gambling to be a permanent addition. It would be great for in game emersion. I would also like to see other games brought in such as pazak and sabbac. I would also like to see not only the golden certificates but also be able to wager in game credits and win in game credits. Anyone else have similar thoughts?
  2. Unless you read something I missed somewhere; Revan went into the tomb of Ajunta Paul and removed his sword in KOTOR. If there is a book or story somewhere please let me know I need it for my collection.
  3. I do appreciate the Devs coming out with this expansion, but in all honesty this games development began in the 21st century. I think it was a bit cheesy on the devs part to give us a space system that was from the 1980's. Earlier in this thread I merely asked a question if this expansion was also going to have pve content or just pvp content. To be honest I would enjoy seeing a space system where I don't have to enter a battle to experience space. I would like to have the ability to jump in my ship and take off then pick a direction or a hyperspace route and take off and fly myself somewhere, or just fly around and for the hell of it.
  4. How about no. The system in place is terrible. I for one wanted a system that has both pve and pvp available. Which is what they should have had in the begining. I play on a pvp server what I would really like to see is a system where you go into space and you have both at the same time.
  5. I have watched the trailer and I am eagerly awaiting this expansion. I do have 1 question the space combat is it strictly pvp at this time or will it have a pve element as well?
  6. I am with you brother I miss those times a lot I hope EA does something similar to that soon.
  7. It doesn't always work that way where you run the op with a group of 8, 8 x and everyone gets the gear they want. More often than not you run the op over and over and often the same piece drops repeatedly before everyone gets the pieces they are working to get. In the context of the original post I have never seen where the gear has only been available for group players. The only reason I bring this up is that not everyone can make the time to constantly run the content over and over in a group. For this very reason there is alot of content in the game that some people don't get to experience. I have know problem running in groups, but I would still like to see everything in the game be available to all players. So during those times you can't find a group you can run the content by yourself. If you prefer groups great if not great too.
  8. I agree with this premise. For multiple reasons it is often difficult to get into a group due to rl issues. Me for example I play on a North American server but I am currently in Afghanistan. Also there are times when I just don't want to be in a group I want to go and do my own thing. Yes this is an MMORPG Massively multiplayer online role playing game. That's right multiplayer not multigroup. So I agree that access to all aspects of the game should be able to be completed with just companions. There are solo instances in the game that scale to groups. So why not have group instances that scale to solo players.
  9. I agree so if the story line from lvl 1-50 takes place over a period of years it would only make sense to have day and night on each planet to give players a sense of the passage of time in their story.
  10. Texas I do stand corrected on that point. I have recently seen in game that as long as you are grouped with a player from another class not only can you enter their ship; you can travel with them to their unique locations for their class story and help them finish it.
  11. Thanks for your opinion however I never said to add crouch I gave it as an example from another game to prevent griefing. I was merely saying if they added obstacle collision to players and npcs they should also add a mechanic that would prevent griefing.
  12. I think that toons and npcs in the game should have substance i.e. not being able to pass through them as though they were not there. Perhaps I am the only one who has this opinion, but I like the way it worked for pvp in other games such as AOC. I know some people don't like it because there are individuals out there who are just jerks. They get together and stand around things or entrances just to be jerks so others can't get to them. That is really an easy fix AOC added a crouch feature that allowed you to walk through them. So I say give characters and npcs substance. I am interested to read other people's opinions on this subject.
  13. I personally like the idea of having both a day and night cycle as well as weather on all the planets not just Drommund Kaas. I agree whole heartedly that this simple addition would add tremendously to the immersion of the game. I do think you couldn't time it to real time for the server and the cycles would have to be put on a timer. Weather would also be a great addition. I mean I spent days on Hoth and Ilum and never once saw it snow. I did some wind but those are ice planets I think there should be snow. I know they probably wouldn't want to add weather to Tattooine but all the other planets should get weather. I am not sure on others opinion of this but i also don't think it would be a bad idea to add a mechanic along with the weather that makes it have an effect on the enviornment. For example say you are running up a hill on Taris in the rain; well that hill could be slick and there might be a chance you slip and fall or maybe even slide down it during a fight. Just a thought mind you.
  14. I have to disagree ganking does hurt OWPVP absolutely but having objectives for example planetary control can insight more people to participate in OWPVP which by having more people participating cuts down on the ganking. IMHO ganking primarily takes place because 1) The gankers know they are going into an area where they are safe either due to being higher lvl then the other players there, or 2) Going in with a group because it is a big area and they can attack individuals or smaller groups, or 3) A combination of the 1st 2. I have seen in other games when gankers get ganked it tends to cut down on that behavior. Now to be fair in implementing a reward system for OWPVP the 1st thing they need to do is add more planets as it stands there are only 3 planets in the Empire in the game Korriban , Drommund Kaas, and Nal Hutta. Which are the starting Planets of the Sith Empire and Republic players can't got there. Then add to the list Tython, Ord Mantel, and Courassant which Imp players can not go to and it leaves Taris, Nar Shadda, Tatooine, Alderaen, Balmora, Belsavis, Hoth, Illum. Quesh,Corellia, and now Makeb. These Planets are all in Republic territory except for the Imp starting planets. I believe if they added more planets in the Sith Empire then implemented a planetary control system it would help OWPVP drasticly.
  15. Ok I guess it is the world according to you.
  16. No I was merely using that as an example of one way it could be implemented. There could be several reasons for changing sides. I was thinking along the lines of this being a story based game and one method to weave it into the story. Now as far as Jedi and Sith are concerned I could see the implementation of a system where to many light side points or darkside points could have them removed from the Jedi Order or from the Sith, but something of that nature may not be feasible. The whole point of this post was to basicly say I would like to see the ability to change factions added into the game. The premise of using the light side dark side meter was merely a tool to facilitate it. Not saying by using it the choice be forced on someone, but rather an option be made available via some means. I know perhaps I didn't go into enough depth in the original post. I was refering to say if a Jedi would be removed from the order or perhaps start to question the orders methods. That they might be given the option by being approached by someone from the other side. This could also be done by the player seeking out these agents of the opposing side and attempting to defect. Also during development the devs said the choices a player made would have an impact on the game. So far all I have seen them have an impact on is how a flashpoint, heroic, or op plays out. So in the that sense yes I did mean for the option to become available based on the light side dark side meter. Again I say the option be made available. Even in the real world agents of various governments seek to get intelligence and in some case even defectors through different means. Just thinking this would be a means to implement the possibility. I hope I have cleared my intent up for you.
  17. I again thank everyone for responding. I do think alot of people have missed my original intent. My intent wasn't to say if you go darkside, or lightside you have to switch factions, but merely a means to have the option. People have brought up some interesting points correct the Factions are Republic or Empire, and not light and dark sides of the force. I was simply saying that using the light side dark side meter as a gauge could give players a moral reason to switch not that they should be forced to merely to have the option.
  18. Thank you for your very biased and slanted opinion. You and I will have to agree to disagree; our opinions of the Republic, Empire, Jedi, and Sith differ greatly. Your thinking the Sith would save more lives than the Jedi is ridiculous The Sith as seen in this game and fantasy literature over the years will kill on a whim. While the Jedi practice selfless service. A sith would see an orphanage on fire and say let them burn if they are to weak to save themselves. While a Jedi would rush in to save as many lives as they could at the risk of their own. Your right your attitude is not a good way to live.
  19. I see the point you are trying to make. However I disagree I know you are playing on the old needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. Now granted in that particular heroic you can spare the engineering crew and everything works out while if faced with a real life crisis such as that which I know police officers, Fire fighters, The Coast guard, and Military find themselves in from time to time you have to make a snap decision, and then history judges whether it was right or wrong. However yes it was infraction worthy and would be investigated and that could go either way.
  20. I have seen some good points being brought up for and against my original post. While perhaps alignment alone should not be the sole reason for being allowed to switch factions; I still think it should be something added to the game. Star Wars lore is full of examples of people who have changed sides so speak., and not just Jedi. In the original KOTOR Carth Onasi mentions that while Revan and Malak fell to the darkside the were alot of good and trusted men who jumped ship and joined the Sith. Many people have brought up events from the Trooper story line. While I have not played Trooper all the way through at this time I do know that you have to hunt down the members of Havoc squad who defected to the Empire. Granted as in my original post their defection was for political reasons and not moral they still jumped ship. Also every storyline I have delved into so far some where along the line there is someone you have to deal with who is a traitor to their current faction. So I feel being able to switch factions would make for more fun and a better gaming experience. I thought it would have been better if they had made the classes and then except for Sith and Jedi allowed you to choose sides in your story like for example after finishing on the starting planet. Well imperial agent would have to start out Empire, but I would have prefered to have been able to choose a class then chose a faction.
  21. I was not referring to telling a lie, but rather brutal tactics such as forcing information from someone at gunpoint or randomly shooting someone in the head. For example someone surrenders and rather than taking them into custody you execute them. Also say during certain heroics like the Esselles flushing an entire engineering crew out of the maintenance bay and abandoning a republic ambassador to die on an imperial ship would be infractions that would very well get the trooper discharged. Now I haven't played all the way through the trooper story yet; as I progress through it I will observe what you are referring to.
  22. Uh yeah it kind of does. Your morals do have an effect on political ideals, also your morals, and how you display those morals effect how those around you interact with you. So if you are a Jedi and go dark side yes it would effect whether you are republic or not. If you are a trooper and going dark side and using brutal tactics would very well effect your career in the republic army i.e. violating general orders and rules set in place. The same can be said of Imperial agents and Sith. The only 2 classes that what u were saying would even remotely work for is Smuggler/Bounty Hunter.
  23. I agree with the op on this you should be able to switch sides or what the hell is the point of getting light side and dark side points if they have no real impact on the game. I remember during development Bioware said the decisions we made in game would have meaning and make an impact. Beyond the immediate quest they have no impact at all. I mean if a Jedi class gains enough dark side points they should be kicked out of the order. And the same goes for Sith class. Troopers should be discharged. Bounty hunters shunned or something of that nature. Oh and I do agree SWG had the best crafting of any game bar none. In that game player made items were the best you could get.
