I work for Customer Support for a Software Company (Not in the Gaming Industry)
  1. Yes, we need more games that give the biggest rewards with the smallest amount of effort.
  2. I came back about a month ago so was late for early access. I will be fine waiting a week. Besides, with the 4 xp bonus weekends, I only managed to get one toon to 50 so I'll just play with my alts til then.
  3. This makes that saying true when people assume. The money from Subs and the money from the CM both go to the devs who in turn spend it on wages for the people who work on updates and provide CM content. I feel like this is the SWG forums from 5 years ago.
  4. Maybe this will help? http://mmocover.com/swtor/healing-with-your-focus-target/
  5. Hi all, I been away but been playing as preferred for past week. I just resubbed for 6 months and spent enough on CM for another sub. I really like the changes so far. I look forward to leveling and joining you all for ops and pvp, but I'm also a big space mission junkie. Reading over this thread I see some things have not changed. The flame on cash shops and the EA hate have been around long before this game was even in Beta in the old SWTOR forums. I am pretty sure those topics have been discussed with other games for over a decade by now when MMOs began rising. Basicially these discussions have no end and no conclusions. For the future of SWTOR it looks good to me, which is why I decided to resub. See ya on the Rise of the Hutts.
  6. The design is so that you have plenty of time to complete all objectives, and also bonus missions. With low gear and new to the mission, that time is necessary. With higher gear and more experience it is easy to complete many of the mission objectives with lots of time remaining. Some mission objectives can be completed before bonus objectives completed, and I would hate to be kicked out of a mission when I still have a satellite or a bridge or a comm tower to destroy.
  7. I won't mention them in detail but have seen operations and flashpoints exploited because of 'exit area' while in combat. Last night raiding for 4 hours and dying a half a dozen times or more cost me around 20k in repair. I spent more credits sending companions on missions during the raid than I did in repair. The only problem for me really, is when an unsuccesful attempt is clear, trying to achive a quick death, to restart and begin the fight again. Folks will be fighting for boss agro!
  8. My group has plenty to do to keep us occupied few more months. So ask again in July?
  9. Acknowledging an issue exists is a response, even if it is not a response directly to you. It is one way the developers inform the customer what issues they are aware of, so that the customer does not need to make new threads complaining about things they are already aware of. Also, that list is not their actual list as they have a much larger list internally to track issues, every software company has this. When I was in beta I would group up with others on Hutta, so as only Agents and BHs and we would still get drops with +Str and +Willpower. Like it is now, at that time this was not a bug, this is the way the game was designed. Random is random. From consumer feedback, they decided to change the design so that loot considers the group makeup in 1.2. This does not work as intended, so since 1.2 it is a bug which they have responded too, but before that, it was not a bug.. As a veteran software programmer you should: 1) Know the difference between software design, regardless if good or bad, and a software bug. 2) Understand the software development cycle to the point of understanding why somethings are patched before others. In addition, knowing the difference between a patch and an 'ermergency patch' 3) Understand the impact issues have on the consumer to determine their priority and what issues warrant an 'ermergency patch' 4) Have enough experience to know that even of the simplest of code can result in undesireable effects. So you maybe a 'hobby' programmer but clearly not a professional programmer who works in the industry, else you would not have said anything you have already said. You are just a player, complaining about the current loot distribution, which is no different than the dozens of threads we have had in the past weeks and months. Trying to tell Bioware how to do their job, is not going to give you the outcome you are wanting nor is it constructive feedback. My advice, is to be patient and wait like everyone else, as they address the issue that they are aware of.
  10. Ran this last night. Seems only the people who get the tool-kit and diffuse the yellow mine are awarded the title. We are not sure how it is determined who gets the tool-kit as our tank got 3 of them and a mdps got it once. Both were awarded the title. Is it proximity? Is it agro/threat?
  11. Unless it is an invisible wall that i can walk through, I am not sure that is the case, but I can try messing with zoom on the next fights. It just seems odd that without changing zoom I can see the effects on the first attempt, but only sporadically on the following attempts. Last night, after first attempts, could not see the green/red squares for Vorgath's minefield, and also could not see the ground AoE on Kephess.
  12. How is it not relevant? 1) Yes, many gamers do not read the forums and MANY of those gamers do not make New Threads on the forums. However, there are a small few of them who bother not spending the time to learn anything about the game but then decide to make a new thread on something that has not only received a Dev response already but has been brought up several time by people who do read the forums. 2) 1.2 has been out for two weeks now. That is not a long time. Yes, looting is a basic component of many games, but actual coding and programming is not simple. I'm pleased you understand the logic required to accomplish such task but if you actually understood what was involved you wouldn't have made this thread.
  13. I had a similar issue with Toth and Zorn. I noticed that if I ran forward (w key) and even though I was far away from the reticule it popped directly on me as if I was standing in it. However if I ran backwards (s key) or to the sides just out of the reticule, I was not hit. So I'm curious those getting hit by reticules, when out of them, which direction you ran?
  14. Reading .... is ..... fundamental. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=403398
  15. Yeah, in 1.2 they made it so the heroics are not solo-able anymore.
