  1. Thanks for the input. It is much appreciated. After way too much effort and two times through uninstalling and reinstalling the game, the problem seems to have been resolved. I have no idea what actually fixed it as I did the exact same thing twice. Thanks again for all of the assistance.
  2. Thanks. I appreciate the reply. This is frustrating to say the least, since I've already uninstalled, reinstalled, run the launcher repair, preformed a scan disc (no errors found) and restarted the machine several times. Oh well, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again, right? Thanks again, mate!
  3. Hello. I'm not sure this is the correct/appropriate place for this, but here goes: I was playing yesterday with no issues, and then I had to take a break. I shut the game down, and went about my business. The problem arose when I returned later to continue playing. The launcher works fine, but the game will not initialize. I get a message telling me that "This application has encountered an unspecified error. Please try this patch again." After three or four failed attempts, I restarted the p.c. and tried again. Same result. I then ran the launcher repair tool, which also made no difference. The problem persists. This morning, I gave it another go, and the game still will not initialize. At this point, I decided that I would get radical and reinstall the game. Unfortunately for me, this also did not fix the problem. Every other game that is installed on this p.c. functions correctly, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or is it just me? Any suggestions for a fix?
  4. Your point is moot. First, you cannot attack someone who is not flagged. If you're flagged, its assumed that you are willing to pvp (something that may or may not be true as things stand now). Second, people already walk up, (flagged) stand around til ignored (by others who are flagged but clearly not really interested in engaging in pvp) and then attack, or worse, they will wait until the other player is in combat with an npc group before attacking. What's stopping them from doing that now? A giant pile of nothing, that's what. Take out the timer and the people who don't want to pvp can just shut off their flag and not have to deal with it. The only ones who would be subject to the point you've made here would be those who chose not to shut off their pvp flag. So, again, I don't see the point in having a timer to shut down the pvp flag.
  5. Personally, I don't see why the pvp flag has to have a timer on it anyway. There is no waiting if you want to start pvp-ing, so why should there be any when you want to stop?
  6. From the GSI mission terminals outside the space port in Tatooine you can get new daily missions. I wound up having to go into areas that flagged me to complete three of them, but people are saying that these can be completed without having to enter pvp flagging areas. I personally couldn't locate the necessary items without entering the pvp zones. Guess I'll have to give it another shot.
  7. While I enjoy pvp in the warzones, I really do not understand why so many of the new daily missions send us into areas which flag players for pvp. What's the point in that? Really, not all of us want to run around the world flagged for pvp. So why make missions that can't be completed without flagging? Doesn't that defeat the idea of "consentual pvp?" Or do the developers just think that we all need to take the five minute (if you don't count travel to and from where you are questing) time out once in a while? What's the deal? Isn't enough that the Gree event is geared toward rewarding players who want to pvp? Do we really need to have a bunch of dailies that do the same thing (but without the warning that it is going to be a pvp quest)? Honestly, it looks to me like whoever designed these missions just didn't think it through well enough to figure out that some people are just jack-legs and will attack any flagged player on sight regardless of whether they flagged intentionally or not.
  8. Well, I think that none of us really "need to spend every waking second grinding out XP." In point of fact, I've been quite pleased to not see a bunch of "kill X of something" bonus missions. My point is in reference to maintaining a balance along the way. Having to travel all over the galaxy to finish a quest is fine; I rather enjoyed the HK story line. Lets not forget that the game is meant to be enjoyable, and some of us, maybe not you, but some of us don't find it enjoyable to have to spend hours hunting for a single piece from a quest only to discover that once you've actually found it, there are eighty-seven more that you may have to spend an equal number of hours on finding each one. Its not about the missions involving travel and searching; its about the missions being a seemingly endless string of pointless "go here and dig for this." Its not about your min/max-whatever-crap, its about finding closure to an activity and moving on to another. Maybe if they had just broken the missions up so that one didn't have a giant long string of use your macrobinoculars (and inside buildings? seriously?), but rather had a more or less "normal" quest or two thrown in between the need for the macrobinoculars it wouldn't seem so tedious.
  9. No one said anything even remotely similar to this. I simply pointed out that the "time spent to reward received" ratio is way off from the rest of the game. Seriously, I could have gotten more experience by grinding mobs for four hours than I did by following a quest string. That's just a bit messed up, don't you think?
  10. I will say that the seeker droids do pull up some useful stuff, but, much like looking for HK parts, it can take WAY too damn long to find the seeds. I really don't see how they will make the macrobinoculars useful for anything outside of the quest line they were written into, though.
  11. Is it just me or do the macrobinocular and seeker droid missions eat up an enormous amount of time for next to no pay off? Seriously, I've spent 4 hours running macrobinocular quests today alone and have gotten less than 3 bars of experience for my troubles. Digging up seeds is equally annoying: I spent 3 hours yesterday looking for just one seed!! The new world is cool, but outside of Makeb, much of the content seems to be excessively longwinded with minimal payout for the time spent. Maybe its just me, but I gotta say, I wasn't really looking to re-visit and drive around every planet in the game again. It seems that a lot of hype was (again) preached at us about how great this new expansion was going to be, but once we actually get into it, you get two, maybe three levels of play on the new world and then its macrobinoculars and seeker droids that take you on a needlessly long trek around the galaxy. Maybe I just expected too much, but personally, I've been seriously let down by this expansion so far. Makeb was great, but the rest.... not so much.
  12. The Grand Acquisitions Race.... What a pain in the backside!! Many parts of the content are quite fun and enjoyable, but, seriously, expecting people to wait not one, not two, but three full days to be able to complete some of these quests?!? Thats just plain annoying. Beyond that, having only one location for these quests to be completed (after jamming a billion servers into one...) just makes it frustrating. I understand that we all want to complete the quests, but you can't rely on a mob of individuals who all want something to be pleasant about it. When there are twenty people all trying for the same objective, invariably, you are going to have a rude few who will not wait in line and irritate the rest of us. I have't even looked at the rewards for this event yet, but judging from the massive string of complaints I've read about them, I'm thinking its a moot point. Just a bit more thought in how this was going to play out in a "real" play senario would have made for a much more enjoyable event all around. Thanks for trying BioWare...
