  1. MalcolmReynolds (Firefly TV show) All I want is to find a decent brown overcoat for him to wear and I'll be happy with my gear.
  2. I'm almost level 25 (speeder, here I come!), and I'm taking my time to enjoy the immersive story...I think I've done all available sidequests. It doesn't feel like a "levelling grind" which I've felt in other MMOs.
  3. I've gotta agree: this game IS amazing. Grouping is fun, story is immersive, combat is fast-paced, graphics are smooth, etc, etc. This game is A+ in my books.
  4. I just ran Athiss last night, and it was the most fun I've had in TOR so far...and I've been loving TOR! Our PUG was lots of fun...2 tanks, 1 DPS, 1 healer. All 3 of those guys are now on my friends list. We all knew how to play our roles and work together, we all had a positive attitude, and we had a great time; next time I'm LFGing, I'll be looking for them first. We wiped once on the first big boss, and then once again on the final boss, but other than that, it was a smooth run. I liked it that there was some challenge to the main bosses and the mini-bosses, but I did think that many of the basic mobs were a little too easy, since our group just steamrolled through many of them...but maybe that's how it goes when you have 2 over-levelled tanks and a good healer. Also, I thought it was cool that our crew skills (Archaeology and Slicing) made a difference in our group's path (shortcut) during the flashpoint. That was a nice touch.
  5. I always had difficulty with WASD movement too, but then one of my friends showed me how much easier it is to do all my movement with the mouse. Moving Forward If you hold down both the L-Click and R-Click mouse buttons, you'll move forward (equivalent to W). Even more handy, go into the Preferences/Key Bindings/Movement section, and scroll down to find the "Toggle Auto-run" option, and bind that to either a key or (as I've done), to an extra button on my gaming mouse. Now, in order to move forward, all I do is click that Auto-run button (or hold down the L- and R-Click mouse buttons) to move. When I want to stop moving, I can either 1) click the Auto-run button again, 2) press both L- and R-Click buttons on my mouse again, or 3) press W or S, and that will stop my movement. Turning and Camera Positioning To turn, it's actually really simple. Don't use A and D, because you'll need the fingers on your left hand for other things like targetting and/or attacking. Holding down R-Click and moving the mouse will change your character's facing...and holding down L-Click and moving the mouse will change the camera position. Therefore, if you happen to be using both L- and R-Click mouse buttons to move, you'll also automatically be turning as you move your mouse to either side (the default position for the camera is behind your character). It took me about an hour or two to become fully comfortable with this, but now I never do my movement any other way. It makes my movement become much more fluid and easy, it is MUCH faster (in terms of response-time) and it also leaves my left hand entirely free for anything else I need to do (such as attacking via hotkeys, which is 200% better than clicking your toolbar with a mouse). I highly recommend giving this method a shot. Cheers!
  6. I played WoW (free to lvl 20) for a few months prior to TOR's release. My 8 year old son likes to watch me play video games before he goes to bed. Before TOR's release he always asked, "Can you play WoW?" But after a couple of weeks of that, I always said, "Sorry, WoW is so boring. Pick something else." And yet, from the moment I started TOR, I've had a REALLY hard time logging off (and I've got bags under my eyes to prove it!).... The OP is entitled to his opinion. He just isn't convincing in the least, if you ask me.
  7. Perhaps the most common (IRL), but not necessarily the most realistic. My guardian is a 3, and the rest of my toons will likely be 2s (maybe a 1 here or there). I figure that if I'm gonna be a tank, then I should also look like a tank.
  8. I'm enjoying my Guardian too. I'm not doing PvP yet, since this is my first MMO, so maybe you're referring to the PvP aspect. But if you're referring to PvE, then I'll have to disagree entirely. This is the most fun I've had in a video game since the original KOTOR and the Baldur's Gate series before that.
  9. The only way I know is to use L-click (as opposed to R-click) to reposition the camera as you run.
  10. I'd love to see that, if it would help to strengthen the community. Just last night, I was waiting to fight a minor-boss (it was gray because someone else was already fighting him). Then I noticed that the other player was very low in health, so I Force Leaped in and helped him kill the boss and avoid death. He was grateful, and I was glad to have helped. I know someone will do the same for me at some point too. It's this kind of community that we need to help foster...so if rewarding high-lvl players for helping others is a way to move toward this, then I'd say go for it.
  11. Amazon came through! I just received this email today: And check out the delivery date: Dec 16...tomorrow. I am a member of Amazon Prime, so I had 2-day shipping. Big thanks and kudos to Stephen Reid and the others who've played a role in making this happen.
  12. Yes. There are keybindings for all those things (maybe not nearest ground object though, but there's area-auto-looting for that anyway). And yes, all of those bindings can be easily edited. In fact, when it comes to group member targeting, healers will be happy to know that you can bind to each group member (ie, Group Member 1, Group Member 2, etc).
  13. Yes, as mentioned, there are a number of target-switching commands. And they're all completely customizable. I've got a gaming mouse (Logitech G500 I think), and I've bound "Target Nearest Enemy" and "Target Next Enemy" (along with Toggle AutoRun) to my extra mouse buttons. I find that works really well, and it leaves my left hand free for attacking. For some reason, I couldn't get the targeting system to work during the last beta weekend, but it's working wonderfully now.
