  1. Holo works fine here. Have you got Bloom disabled by any chance? Known In-Game Issues: Updated January 18th http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=5533
  2. Real lawsuits with a chance of going somewhere? Or internet style lawsuits where the furthest they get is the imagination?
  3. Well it's good to see you're choosing not to exaggerate at all... Source? Wow that polls not baised in the slightest... I'll go with option 4 Really? odd that there's not more complaints on the forums about it then, since people seem to relish posting everyother problem (real or otherwise) with the game.
  4. How are they harrassing you and how does it undermine other security features? Not to mention if they app is provided free, the authenticator token is provided at what is likely a loss and there's no additional charge despite Bioware having to pay for the back end system the authenticators use how is it a "money grab"?
  5. How is it dishonest to cancel your subscription? You're not required to buy gametime to get your 30 days included, just to set up a subscription
  6. They key likely costs them more than what they're charging us for, that and they also have to lease the back end system that supports it, security updates to that system and the support for it which are all additional costs they absorb.
  7. Why do you feel ripped off? No you weren't, I got my 30 "free" days without spending more than the box price There's not that much on the security vendor, you're also not forced to buy it, the items on the vendor is an incentive for people to take an additional step to keeping their account secure.
  8. http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/1880 http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/1884 Those 2 policy pages pretty much cover the rules on chat use.
  9. Thing is, while I'm getting swtor, blizzard and Trion spam it's all going to the email address I use for signing up to fansites, websites, newsletters and emailing non-family. None of it's gone to the email address I use for my gaming accounts. So Mr expert, why are EA/Bioware selling an email address of mine they don't know exists rather than the one tied to my TOR account? They've either gotten details from a fansite's database they compromised, bought a list from a company who sell details on and you forgot to tick/untick the appopriate box or it's blind emails sent out in bulk hoping to get a few "bites".
  10. Craft skills aren't useless, greens make good leveling gear for the crafter and their friends/guild and blue's sell well on the GTN (despite the dodgy search interface) as they fill gaps in mission rewards. If the pattern of behaviour they're establising is keeping things in balance by careful "nerfs" and buffs based on the metrics they're seeing then it's better than a constant spiral of buff buff buff pushing craft skills and abilities way beyond their intended benefit and making the game even easier than it is.
  11. and no other MMO developers share a similar approach to end game at launch?
  12. "hardcores" are just people who when they succeed at something forget the help and patience of others it took to get where they are and demand others are perfect 1st time out. Then there's real raiders who are doing it for fun and enjoying seeing others learn as well (at least if they try to learn) The 1st group are what give damage meters etc a bad image because of the way they use them, are fairly insular and generally the most demanding The 2nd group tend to be the better raiders, are more inclusive of other players, don't tend to whine as much and are a lot more fun to run into in a pug because capable of using tools available to be constructive rather than destructive.
  13. This is the problem with a lot of the comments on the game by "I quit" people such as yourself. Exaggeration, hyperbole and misinformation that doesn't contribute anything to help the game improve or even put valid constructive points across as to why you are choosing not to renew your subscription. "fanboys" as you label people enjoying the game do not want all negative posts to stop. Far from it. Constructive negative posts are an important part of the forums, even more so at launch and the early stages of the game. Thing is there's a big difference between negative posts and whine posts. It's the whine posts that we can do without as they don't bring anything constructive to the forum.
  14. No, we're just hoping that when those new people notice the bugs they post constructively about them rather than just "This game sucks, don't buy this game", understand the difference between opinion and fact and want the game to succeed despite the bugs they encounter rather than do their best to put people off because they had their feelings hurt that it wasn't exactly how they wanted.
  15. I hope not. But hopefully an improvement from the current overflow of a few people who hate the game and feel others must hate it just because they do. Hopefully their word of mouth influence isn't to much and people will still make up their own minds about the game. I'd prefer people who are unhappy with aspects of the game to continue to subscribe. Not for the numbers but so they can contribute to constructive criticism of the game and discuss what aspects of the game can be improved. As opposed to the same few people posting they hate the game, it all sucks, it's going to fail... The whiners being unable to post will be good for the game because it will encourage constructive feedback which will help (I hope) an already very good game improve further and correct it's faults.
  16. You can still play during those offpeak times. You could also, as others suggested earlier, look for a server who's time frame more matches your own activity time. Yes the time you play is an issue when your complaint is that you're having trouble finding a group. Off peak times it's going to be harder finding a group. That said I'm playing on an EST server so it's fairly early for the average player there atm but I'm still having no trouble finding groups for heroic quests. Are you actively asking for groups? Or just looking at lfg now and again? Unlike other games with dungeon finders you have to be fairly pro-active in getting a group here. Either keeping an eye on chat channels or trying to form one yourself. When you do get a group be chatty to the other players, go that little further to help out and at the end don't forget to thank them for the team and suggest they add you to their friends list and look you up if they need a healer. You can add them as well and build up a list of people you can ask directly when you need a group.
  17. I've found it a lot quicker to get a group by asking in chat channels as a lot of people don't seem to actively use the lfg flag. You could ask around in the busier areas at busier times if there's any guilds that are more active at your times, or if someone's set up a custom lfg channel. Most likely though as other's suggested it's at least partly down to the times you're playing.
  18. For unexpected extensive downtime or server disruption they'd credit downtime. They never did for the regular maintenance though, even if it went over the eta by a few hours or they replaced a "rolling restart" maintenance with a full maintenance downtime.
  19. Did you report them via an ingame ticket with the character names, the time you saw them and why you suspect they're botting?
  20. Partially true, but also partiallywrong. The problem for mmo developers is to work out which of the features asked for (or demanded by) the vocal minority on the forums are wanted by a significant number of players to make them worth looking into. Then it's a a balance of what it will bring to the game, along with what effect it will have on other players and if a number will be set against that kind of feature. Not an easy task. In some cases yes, it can be harmful to the game to encourage people to move on, but I think it can be just as harmful for features to be put into the game just because a vocal minority ask for them and consider them nessecary for the game to be "successful".
  21. Yes, you're probably right. If it gets filtered by the profanity filter why would the GM's regard it as profanity... That said I think the intention of the policy on language use is aimed at profanity used to harass other players, such as insulting them etc although that doesn't mean it wouldn't be used to take action against people just swearing in the chat channels like in WoW.
  22. http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/1884 Not that I think every incidence of swearing should be reported/actioned upon but it is against the game policies that form part of the ToS. Maybe if people actually read them and realise it is then they'll exercise a little more control in chat channels
  23. Not sure I understand exactly what you mean by instancing: The fact each planet is in it's own instance? The sharding on some planets to reduce the number of people in an erea? The group/story areas that are their own instances?
  24. Well if the OP had just been commenting on the bug with no high textures then maybe you'd be correct about the advice being offbase and 100% wrong. But since they were also commenting on a number of medium quality textures also being broken and appearing to be low quality or worse that's not the case is it. Even if someone's wrong it's still no excuse to be rude and attack them
