  1. I was already on the streaming version from a couple years ago when this happened, and was still getting stuck in Quick Play even after deleting the Bitraider folder. The XP SP 3 compatibility mode worked! Having said that, EA WILL YOU PLEASE DITCH BITRAIDER?
  2. Can anyone from BioWare or EA answer this question?
  3. I have not changed how I do space missions, which is from the bridge of my ship(s). I see the credit rewards in the mission window but I don't always remember, so I'm used to seeing them in chat after completing the mission and turning it in. It still shows how many Fleet Commendations I receive, but not credits. I don't remember if this changed with the last expansion or some time since, but it's been within the last few months that it changed.
  4. I do space missions regularly along with story missions and have done so since I started playing. When I complete a space mission I'm used to seeing credit rewards in chat, but I no longer see them and can't find any chat settings for them. How can I re-enable seeing credit rewards from space missions?
  5. I already tried all the above, and I know the guild does not use special characters.
  6. Since game launch I've been able to bring up the "who" tab in the social window, type in a guild name and anyone in that guild who was online at the time would show up. I was gone from the game for a few months and recently started playing again. Now even when I know people from a certain guild are online, the who window shows nothing. Someone suggested using a modifier like this: g- "Guild Name" but that doesn't work either. The guild name has "section" in it but when I try that it only comes up with players who are on the planet Section X. How does this work now?
  7. <WHEW> I thought it was just me. I never had a problem seeing all the fighters coming at me but now I have to try to remember where they usually come from and move my pointer around until I get the red sights. I was about to start playing with settings every time I ran those missions but if it's other people too I won't bother. At least I haven't had the bug lately in Cartel Listening Station and all the other missions like it where almost everything but the fighters vanishes 3/4 of the way through the missions. Fingers crossed!
  8. When Temple is healing me she regularly says "Be a man" in Kaliyo's voice and with Kaliyo's attitude.
  9. I'm getting Temple speaking in Kaliyo's voice sometimes when she re-appears after I've been on a mount. I'll keep my ears open on my other characters.
  10. Not only all the above, but the green starter companion gear that my companions were wearing was left on them but duplicates showed up in my inventory either on character or in mailbox. I just want to use my IPCM so I can get back to space missions
  11. All you hosers can bite me. Thanks to CenturyLink's screwup I got installed with 1.5mbps instead of 5mbps DSL. My service upgrade is *supposed* to happen tomorrow during maintenance. Meanwhile, I'm stuck on roughly 156KBps transfer speed. So much for taking advantage of early access
  12. I just did a re-spec on my Marauder, and the dialog said there was no cost because I'm a subscriber, which leads me to believe you only have to pay credits now if you are not a subscriber. FYI
  13. I'm one of those people who can't afford to buy/build a fast new quad or hex core computer. Betweeen that and a so-so game engine when I zone into fleet and there are more than 150 people there it lags me pretty bad, but the 2nd instance isn't available until somewhere above 200 players. Even then I'll try to switch and get the "instance depopulating....". I'm not usually looking to trade with anyone so I would love to be able always get into the 2nd instance so I can move around without feeling like I'm drunk with my screen stuttering along at 3-5fps. Is it really so hard to enable this as an option?
  14. It took a few tries but after reading the previous posts I just blasted every turret possible as soon as they were on my screen and made liberal use of my missiles. On other space missions I had gotten into the habit of not firing when I couldn't see anything to let my shields regenerate, but for this fight I had to adjust that quite a bit. Like a couple others pointed out, when you're in the asteroids the fighters come from the front like crazy so I just kept firing above and below the friendly ship, while listening/watching for the fighters coming along side to kill them as soon as possible. Crazy fight but with some practice you can do it.
  15. I would like to be able to change the name on my account and also be able to have a separate display name on the forums. Even better would be the ability to use one of my character's identities for forum posts, such as if I'm posting about Imperial Agent issues I could post with the name of my Sniper or the same for any of my other characters. I've used that feature on another MMO game and it's great. Please consider adding this feature in the future. As for my account display name, I made it over 2 years ago but it doesn't really reflect me anymore so I'd like to be able to change it, even if I can't use a different name on the forums.
  16. Thanks for the info on the missiles, which my guildies told me about after I posted earlier. I guess the toughness and damage number I was seeing before the "upgrade" was a glitch of some sort. Doing the math the numbers I see now add up with what the upgrade items show. I never played an MMO this new before so I suppose it's just another glitch for the devs to work on.
  17. I'm not sure if there is a problem or I'm just missing something. I had bought all the grade 1 (green) upgrades I could from the upgrade vendor on Dromund Kaas. My ship's toughness was at either 2250 or 2500 and blaster damage was around 60. Today I bought grade 2 ship armor which should have increased armor by 100 and blaster damage by 3, but when I equipped it both stats actually dropped. Same thing for the blue grade 2 beam generator, my ship's stats actually dropped when I swapped it in place of the grade 1 piece. Also, even though I have the 40 missile storage, I start each space mission with 36. What's going on? Edit: forgot to mention, X-70 Phantom, level 21 IA Sniper
  18. Thank you. I knew I missed something but couldn't put my finger on it. Yeah I agree, a couple of SWTOR's restrictions seem like a bit of overkill but after watching the WoW economy become the mess it is today mostly from the gold spammers I'm not surprised.
  19. Like a couple others have pointed out, I'm simply trying to let people know what they're getting into. I'm not "complaining" about it, but I was a bit surprised at how low some of the caps are. I finally found a way to pay so I'm fully enjoying the game now. Hopefully some others will see this and just buy the game instead of messing with the free play.
  20. So, you want to give SWTOR a try but not ready to fork over your hard-earned money just yet? Good idea, especially in today's economy. Since I just spent 2 weeks playing for free, I thought I'd give you a preview of what to expect. I'm no great writer so don't expect anything flashy. Of course being on a free account, you can only read this, not reply to it. Very little in the way of chat. You can guild chat, /say and reply to whispers but you cannot initiate a whisper. You cannot /yell or talk in general/trade/PvP chat, only read what others are saying. You can group chat but in ops or raids it's read only. No trade, meaning you cannot directly trade with others or use the Galactic Trade Network (auction house). The only way you can make credits from loot or crafted items is by selling them at a vendor. Email is receive only. You cannot send email to anyone, not even your own alts. You won't be able to expand your inventory slots beyond the 30 you start out with, so make it a habit to hit a vendor pretty regularly. That isn't as bad as it sounds, since SWTOR provides you a separate inventory for quest items so they don't count against your 30 "normal" bag slots. No bank access, either personal or guild. Profession skill is capped at 40. 20,000 max credits. Since you can't send any to your other characters (if you have any) I'd suggest buying gifts for your companion or something like that. By my own rough estimate, a credit in SWTOR is roughly equivalent to 10 copper in WoW, based on vendor prices. By level 15 you can hit that cap pretty easily even without a crafting profession. The level 15 cap will affect you in a couple of ways beyond not getting anymore XP. I completed my class quests up to the point where I got my personal ship which would normally allow me to travel beyond the "starter" planets, only to discover I can't actually board my ship. Yep, once you get to Coruscant/Dromund Kaas, that's as far as you can go at level 15. You can even buy a few augments for your ship but you can't actually get on it or go anywhere. If you want to be able to travel back to the 2 starter planets, DO NOT complete the class quest that gives you your ship: once you get your ship you can't use the shuttles anymore. I found this out the hard way on my first Imperial character. You will not be able to queue for Hammer Station. With no general chat or the ability to whisper you might have trouble doing Hammer Station unless you have helpful guildies. Once you start hitting the various caps and limits you'll get nagged with pop-ups with links to the SWTOR account page to buy the game. Same thing happens if you click a bank or market terminal. At level 15 every time you log in or do some sort of loading screen activity you'll get a pop up you'll have to click away. Well I think that covers all the stuff you'll have to deal with playing a "free" account. If I missed anything I'm sure I'll think of it later but feel free to ask.
