  1. I have to agree or "sign" (LOL...) this or whatever it is that shows my support for this motion. It annoys the crap out of me as well. HOWEVER... In the interest in being objective I must take a step back and look at the issue a la "devil's advocate"... When you open up your crew tab you can see exactly what your companions are doing and how long it will take for them to complete their respective tasks. Therefore it shouldn't be a surprise when one comes back. You should at least have a general idea of when that box is going to pop up, especially at the GTN or creating a ticket or what have you. I can see being in combat making it difficult to keep track but it all boils down to poor time management. Let me reiterate that I am FOR making this change... Now I'm going to run for cover.
  2. So far as I know nobody has successfully RE'd any Vibro Knives. Bioware is strangely quiet on the whole RE issue even though there have been a great many posts and complaints about it. I can only imagine they're having some huge "Paper, Rock, Scissors" tournament at Bioware right now to see which poor schmuck is finally going to come clean publicly and tell us what we already know: Crafting is unfinished. RE is broke, and there are schematics that are bugged and nobody is interested in fixing them. It's shameful really... They've been pretty vocal and forthcoming about a great many things but crafting seems to be the "red headed step child". Devs; we know you're watching. What is so terrible about your own system that you can't tell us the truth or at least give us some insight so we aren't jumping at shadows?
  3. We can only speculate until we hear the official word from Bioware. Sadly it appears that (for now at least) Mums the word...
  4. Isn't doing something over and over again and expecting different result the definition of insanity? lol... Devs, we know you're watching so here's my constructive suggestions: 1) Have crew skill level do something more for us than just determine what level of schematics we can learn. I.E. the higher the skill the better your chances at successfully REing or crafting something with critical success. 2) To solve the "you already know this schematic" problem how about a dialogue asking what blue/purple schematic you want after a successful RE? The chances are already dismally low but if this causes you to frown then counter balance it by making the chances even smaller. This would at least let people get the schematic they want after all that work and expense. 3) Crafting station bonuses: We can see in some of the schematics that at some point certain items required special crafting stations in order to be able to craft them. How about putting those stations back in the game and have them offer bonuses to crafting success. We'd still be able to craft anywhere anytime but if we wanted a little better odds at criting or REing we go to special crafting stations that would be spread out over the game world. 4) Bonus items: This kinda ties into the crafting station idea above. If we want even better chances we add an optional item to the schematic to increase critical success rate. (Take a quick look at LOTRO's crafting system for a good example) The item isn't required but it would add a small percentage to your roll for critical success chances. Make the item a drop from "strong" or better mobs in various areas of the game world or even put them in commendation vendors. 5) Please list in the schematics whether or not REing the item will yield any results. I.E. Vibro knives... can they be REd or not? I've not been able to get a single blue and I know many others haven't either. Even if none of those suggestions are appealing at least PLEASE speak up and give us some info/insight into the REing issues. Leaving us in the dark like this is very frustrating.
  5. Oh snap. Title should be AH PRO tip I've been using a calculator all this time hahaha. Now if we can just get people to get into the post-slicing mindset and get realistic on their pricing we'll be set lol.
  6. Ah yes, zombies. When all other ideas fail or no ideas at all are forthcoming there's always zombies.
  7. A balanced diet is a lie. There is no diet, only calories. Through food we gain weight. Through weight we gain girth. Through girth our belts are broken! The food shall please me. Seriously, the Sith are in dire need of a good PT program... I haven't played Republic at all so I don't know if they have the same problem... Maybe there should be a Biggest Loser: Old Republic Edition? hehe
  8. Try disabling vsync. In beta I used a GTX9800 and got fairly decent results. Just before Launch I picked up a GTX590 (Not just for swtor that would have been silly, I had been planning an upgrade for a while) I noticed that my graphical experience was much the same and in some cases a little worse for Launch. I did a little research and discovered that with vsync enabled it effectively limited my 590 to be no better than the 9800. Once I disabled vsync though I noticed that my FPS effectively doubled in most places. Now the only time the FPS dips is when I'm in fleet and last night I turned off player names and the FPS went up even more. Give it a try.
  9. I found an amusing bug this evening that lets me kill a companion in certain situations. Here's how to reproduce it: 1) Stand next to a transition door or lift (In my case I was at the hangar door in Imp Fleet.) 2) Use 'Punish' ability. 3) Before companion can heal use the transition to go someplace else. 4) On the other side of transition companion immediately dies with a message of "Companion has been defeated" 5) Profit. It doesn't look like armor is damaged on the companion from doing this. I guess this is just confined to Sith characters due to the Punish ability. I submitted a bug ticket in game as well.
  10. Wow, talk about an over inflated sense of entitlement. I feel your pain but come on. Grow up a little.
  11. Mainly this is just a UI glitch right. I've recently noticed though that whatever skill your 4th represents also causes the resource nodes from that skill to show up on your map. Not a big deal but it's kinda annoying to see nodes I can't harvest and have to hover over each one on my map. I know the cause of this already; logging in and out of different characters. A workaround is to quit and log back in. But that's a bit annoying. Be nice if a fix for this makes it into 1.0.3 or .4
  12. Yeah... $130-$250 for a color crystal that probably wont have stats to support you past 15 or so like the CE crystal? Thanks, but no thanks. That's Bioware/Razer poking you hard core. There's a vendor in the fleet space station that sells CE crystal replacements for 10cr if you happen to lose yours somehow which is a nice touch but it would be nicer if he also sold "upgraded" ones on a scaling price so you can keep the CE crystal color (if you like it) but still have competitive stats.
  13. That would suck if true. My favorite color happens to be purple... Long before that punk SLJ chose purple as his blade of choice.
  14. This has been an issue for me from the start. Personally I think it's kinda silly. If you follow published lore, light saber color was mainly personal choice. In the era before the current time line Jedi used color to distinguish "class" Counselars had green and Guardians had blue if I recall correctly. But later it was simply a matter of personal choice. There was nothing that forced a Sith to have a red light saber but according to lore the Sith often crafted synthetic focusing crystals which often resulted in reddish hues while the Jedi actually "quested" to acquire their crystals of which blue and green were the most common. *shrug* Edit: Furthermore if I understand correctly the crystals themselves had no predetermined affinity for either light or dark side. When the user first imbued them with force energies is when they picked up light/dark properties (if any). I think mainly this is just something to make your light or dark choice mean something. which again I find silly for color crystals but it is what it is.
  15. Many people are under the false assumption that what they have to say is important. They don't want to be lost in the shuffle so to speak. Which is what would likely happen if they posted in a thread that's eleventy billion pages long. They want to be heard. They don't want to be bothered with the task of reading a bunch of pages worth of previous yammering that oddly enough is likely JUST like what they have to say or one of the few variations so they make a new thread. Rinse repeat. As far as the calls for Biochem to be "nerfed" I have to shake my head. It's like elementary school all over again. Disclaimer: I do not have any characters with Biochem or Slicing and could care less either way about the two skills.
  16. Yes, I'm a long time fan of the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series and would LOVE to see the ship missions go along that path. However I'm also old enough to have my feet (okay, at least a toe) firmly grounded in reality. A full fledged space combat sim is highly unlikely. But maybe Bioware can meet us half way? I like your ideas and they would go a long way towards fleshing out the current system. IMO the current system seems more like an afterthought than a fully developed game mechanic but I digress... Point being is that while the current system is cool, there's a lot of room for improvement. To quote the Sith Warrior trainer in game: "You are strong, but you could be STRONGER!." *bump*
  17. Sure you could but it would cost you a ton of money getting the mats from missions/GTN unless you have a higher level main with nothing but gathering skills to get the mats. Either way a level 10 with 400 skill would be sub optimal at best IMO. *shrug*
  18. There are several threads (some even on the first page) regarding this already... Short answer: Results may vary. There's a lot of speculation but no official word from Bioware. Until such time it's 'RE at your own risk'.
  19. I want to say that the yellow color crystals actually come from Treasure Hunting.
  20. IMHO he has a point. It's tenuous at best but I can somewhat agree. Technically speaking ToR doesn't really offer up anything ground breaking on a fundamental level. (Don't even get me started on the "afterthought" that is ship missions.) On a whole ToR is pretty much like any other MMO out there these days and there are plenty of other MMOs out there that have some sort of "banking" system and do it "right" so it's not unreasonable to expect this game to do it "right" as well but I digress... On a positive note I was very pleased when I learned that you could craft from mats in the bank and not actually have them in your inventory. That's a nice touch indeed. I agree that there needs to be some work done to stacking and the auto distribution of crafted mats but it's not game breaking. Personally I'd like to see the returns from crafting missions go straight to the bank or at least straight to your inventory with no pop up. You get a message in the chat window. A loot window is redundant and since Bioware in their infinite wisdom decided you can only have two windows open at a time it can be downright irritating to have that return window pop up at an inopportune time. Even better would be a dedicated crafting materials tab in your inventory much like the quest items. Wishful thinking I know but one can dream right? Disclaimer: Despite previous statements about ToR not offering anything unique I DO like playing this game and can mostly overlook it's shortcomings. Doesn't mean I won't point out things that I feel need changing in a constructive manner though.
  21. I can agree with this statement. However, from the amount of activity on this subject and from my own personal experience there does in fact seem to be an issue or "nerf" to RE-ing. If it was changed deliberately that's fine with me. If it is a new bug introduced in the last patch that's fine with me too. Any MMO is an incredibly complex system with many moving parts, these things happen. My issue is that there should be some sort of acknowledgement from Bioware regarding the issue. A simple "We hear you, we didn't change anything but we'll look into it." or "Yeah, we tweaked it because we felt that the blue/purple schematics were coming too easily." or even "Nothing was changed, it's exactly the same now as it was before, sorry you're all having streaks of bad luck." Would be great. Especially concerning Vibro Knives and Scatter Guns... Those do not seem to RE at all. Is this intended or a bug? Some insight would be really nice. Until then, RE at your own risk/expense.
  22. ZOMG yes. Please. But not before we get at least another 29386809425 unique Slicing threads. Would be nice if we had some other BASIC forum tools like I dunno... Search? or even Filters? Just throw a "-slicing" up there and POOF! you get to see the real info you may actually be interested in reading...
  23. Elusive Mod is elusive! I guess the real question is wether or not it's actually still in the game. Torhead has a lot of stuff based on info from the beta that may or may not have made it into launch...
