  1. The difference between dying in 3 hits and dying in 5 hits is massive. It gives me a chance to save you. It also makes my heals 15% more effective. Do Recruits kinda suck? Yep. Are they useless? No. I've seen Sentinels in 90% Recruit put out 300k damage. I've seen tanks in 90% Recruit put out 150k damage and 200k protection. I've seen healers in Recruit put out 250k healing. Not awesome, but also far from useless especially if the player is playing the objectives.
  2. This. The number of times that a Sab Charge-Back Blast combo has been the key to breaking through some cross-healing and not... well... they are considerable and if an enemy healer is around 6k health a quick sab charge at them is awesome. We should also frequently be dropping Flyby around objectives and that can easily wrack up 15k+ damage with each use. I go a bit further and also frequently throw Thermal Grenades at clusters of enemies if nobody needs immediate healing. Attacking objectives, burst damage is key and we can contribute significantly to that.
  3. Black Hole armour has no advantages that will be lost. The Columi stuff will lose the set bonus if you put it into another shell. See how it looks if you use the Columi legs/feet/hands/head with a cool chest and then colour match - that is your best route to looking how you want without losing any mechanics.
  4. As many others have said, this isn't the solution. Making all DPS crazy won't make the game fun. Nerf Pyrotechs' burst and permasnare, nerf Marauders' defensive CDs (just increase their CD, even.) Then give minor buffs to Mercenary damage and a few other trees that need it (DF Scoundrels, for example.)
  5. Top of the PVP healing food chain? Yep. Easy to play? Not sure I'd go that far. Even with our tools it takes a lot of skill to survive being permanently focused by half the enemy team. Compared to the majority of DPS classes, Operatives healers are still hard to play well.
  6. A multi-target 4s stun with a 30m range is useless? No, it is awesome and close to essential for competitive PVP. Obviously you don't throw them around like candy but throwing one of them at a group approaching to stop a cap? Yes please.
  7. The thing is.... the content isn't hard (LI HM excepted.) I can comfortably tank any of the Tier 1 HMs in Vigilance spec, Soresu form and wearing my tanking gear. By comfortably I mean that even with a healer in mediocre gear we have no issues. My gear actually lets me tank it far more effectively than somebody in Corellia gear and tank spec. I even tanked HM False Emperor without wiping with just a Scrapper Scoundrel in bad gear (~16k health, without even 11 points in Sawbones - no SRMP even!) as our healer although that was a little bit too much like hard work. Similarly, well geared healers are perfectly capable of fulfilling the DPS roles - we queued as a guild group with 2x Sawbones (good gear), Shadow Tank (mediocre gear) and Sentinel (good gear) and lost the Sentinel at the first miniboss. We continued without him, hoping he would be able to rejoin us, and didn't see a single enrage timer. Augmented Rakata/Black Hole healers can do better damage than Tionese DPS. The issue isn't people queuing for roles they aren't specced for, it is them queuing for roles they can't handle which is generally a gear issue more than a spec issue. Probably any of the classes with a tanking form will be able to tank HM FPs in their dps specs as long as they have Columi tanking gear and swap stances. Much more of an issue is when you get DPS who are wearing half Tionese tanking gear and half Corellia gear - they really struggle.
  8. I'm pretty sure every melee class would be happy if they changed it so that roots were effected by, and granted, resolve. Ranged classes, on the other hand, will object strongly. Trust me when I say Jedi Knights suffer from roots being distinct from the resolve system far more than they benefit. (Also, for the record, using Force Leap to root somebody in the fire takes huge balls and skill (assuming you pull it off without dying yourself. It's one of the more awesome things you can do in Huttball.)
  9. Sentinels and Snipers are supposed to have 5% more damage than the classes that can taunt. I'd say that is actually pretty true with the exception of Pyrotechs. An equally geared and skilled Sentinel has more damage output (plus also more group utility and survivability) than either of the DPS Guardians trees. Both Sentinels and Snipers also get to inflict a 20% healing received debuff which is very close to an anti-taunt. If anyone needs something added to them it is the DPS trees of the 'healing' classes that need to receive something equivalent to taunt that they can use for free and off the GCD. Such an addition would go a long way to closing the gap between Pyrotechs and Sages, for example. I don't think it is coincidence that those three ACs are considered the weakest DPS builds (excluding the small minority who still think scoundrels haven't been nerfed enough.)
  10. Um, why? Because of something that will effect people once in a blue moon? This is no different to if the servers went down midway through the boss fight. Suck it up, write a ticket... heck, spend the 30 minutes redoing the FP if you need it that urgently...
  11. This was causing issues with people who died during boss fights not receiving credit and so they changed it so that you just have to click a console to end it and... now you complain because clicking a console is too hard? It tells you what to do in your log, highlights it on your map.... it's better this way, there are no issues now unless you don't look at your log/map.
  12. Finish Korriban, go to the fleet, train as an Assassin... have stealth.
  13. Mm, just what this game needs is to decrease TTK even further... Oh, wait... Fix the problem with Pyrotechs (crazy Burst damage), don't break something that isn't actually the issue. The damage trees of the other two classes that can taunt are quite underwhelming (mega-smash stupidity aside), it's only Pyros that need fixing.
  14. I see no harm in making the crafted Tionese gear Bind on Equip. The market for it is small and anything that encourages people not to roll into HM Ops in green gear is a good thing surely?
  15. For the harder content you do need to stack your Endurance a reasonable amount (18k is an absolute minimum, 20k+ is nice) or you'll make your healers cry. When there are 15k hits coming at you having neglected to build up your Health is not a good place to be.
  16. Blackguard, except it is pretty ugly in my opinion. Battlelord is wanted because it looks more Jedi than most of the alternatives, the Blackguard hat just looks silly.
  17. The real issue is class imbalance. Just taking 8 good, (augmented) War Hero geared players in a classic 2-2-4 setup isn't enough - when you come up against teams loaded with 3+ Pyrotechs you just have little chance with your Sage & Commando DPS (for example.) At first we thought that just putting together a team of good players in good gear would be enough to be reasonably competitive but... it isn't. When we can field a team loaded with all the OP classes we do well, when we field a team lacking in them we don't... so why queue when we don't have the perfect mix of people available?

    PvP Alts

They key to gearing multiple alts is to always, always do your dailies and weeklies on all of them. Your daily is worth about 3 games, your weekly is worth about 9. My main is in fully augmented and customized WH, my alt is about 50% of the way there. I average about 3 hours of PVP a day. It also helps a lot if you are winning many of your games - so being decent and having friends who are also decent makes a big difference.
  19. The issues with Pyrotechs are basically that they can crit regularly, for a large amount, ignoring armor (the only defensive stat that actually works in PVP.) The solutions pretty much follow from that diagnosis: (1) Explosive Fuel is simply too good, at least in PVP when combined with everything else. Reduce the 25%, possibly also tweaking its duration to compensate (if you don't feel their sustained damage is too high.) (2) Firebug is WAY too good. A 30% increase to 4 abilities is much too much. As a minimum, Rail Shot should be reduced from the list. You probably also would need to think about reducing the % in a similar way to other talents were reduced in 1.2 (maybe 10% per dot?) (3) Puncture needs to be moved higher into the Advanced Prototype tree so that it cannot be accessed by full Pyrotechs. As an absolute minimum that means the third tier (moving Quell and Pneumatic Boots down) although putting it even higher would be better (swap it with Stablized Armor, perhaps?) Doing this would effect Shield Tech's damage too but that can be compensated by buffing their own damage trees.

    How to "fix" PVP

This wouldn't be balanced, it would mean that a DPS would always beat a Healer 1 on 1 because in such a situation the Healer would always be being interrupted (free for the DPS class) and so their healing would always be less than the Damage they receive. To be balanced it would need to be that one hassled healer should be able to put out the same healing as a single DD class can put out in damage. That would, of course, mean that an unhassled healer is putting out enough healing to counter 2 DDs but that is easily remedied by not ignoring them!
  21. Yep, you have to contact Customer Service.
  22. Synthweavers can definitely make them, they were the source of all mine. I don't remember exactly what they were called though as I'm not on my PC currently - I just know I have bought Light, Medium and Heavy versions for various characters (I also use them on my characters so that outfit previews don't make me look rediculous.)
  23. Nah. I offtank Annihilator, Gharj and Soa in full DPS gear AND Vigilance spec in Hardmode Eternity Vault. For HM Karagga's things are a bit more intense and so I swap to Defense and then run Gharj, Crusher and Karagga in almost full DPS gear (swapping stances when needed, with a decent stack of Defense.) On Crusher I even tank the odd Frenzy with that setup, just as long as you have your CDs available you'll be fine (and two CDs plus a relic and/or Adrenal means you can comfortably tank for long enough for the tank to be revived. With weaker healers I might be more cautious, but really offtanks should generally wear a blend of gear to fit the encounter (so you need full DPS and Tank sets really.)
  24. Tionese tanking set is definitely fine. You could probably do it in daily purples too, assuming competence and a good healer. My Vigilance alt does just fine in that spec wearing mostly-Columi gear (a bit of BH, BM, Rakata and WH too.) I mean, as long as you have 50% armor reduction and then about 20% defence and 30% shield and absorb that wouldn't present any issues at all. Just make sure you use Hyper Fortitude stims to make things a little easier on your healer.)
  25. Doing this will exclude you from your daily reward though - so the first time on a char each day you should probably bite the bullet. I feel your pain though: Did Esseles 4 times yesterday (twice on a lowbie alt, then ended up with it on both my tank and healer in the evening for their dailies.)
