  1. Some people might prefer the damage mitigation of a shield in some fights, and then bump up there output in other fights. Like a Warrior in WoW. Sword/Shield, 2 one handed swords, or specialize into Titan grip with 2 two-handed swords. Every fight is set differently, so allowing a tank to change up his gear based on the fight would actually allow for a marginally higher success rate.

Or they could keep it as it is and for the man hours they could actually fix bugs.

I ask you again: what significant advantage will your idea give over the existing model?

  2. Which is about like saying no business should ever listen to it's customers. Which, as any good businessman would tell you, is an efficient way to become a former business.

Ever wonder why they put these "Suggestions" forums in here in the first place, genius?

You just had to go there, didn`t you?

Well, first and foremost, a "gamer" has a notoriously small attention span and is known for talking ****, both in what it wants - which is 100% personal needs "buff me plox and nerf anybody else" - and how it threatens: google mw2 boycott and you`ll see how real gamers stand up for their beliefs in real gamer groups!

As for this Bioware you so valiantly defend, it didn`t listen to the community. It asked one poll on Twitter about what we`d want, only to plant us Cathar, ahead of the first 2 playes choices Togruta and Nautolan, they asked one time for what planet we, the players, wanted, only to give us Makeb that was not even a top 10 and has given us PAID char modifications and PAID armors. Yeah, they listened alright. But you do have the attention span of a Goldfish and might have forgotten that all your suggestions were discarded, minus the highly monetized ones. GSF was already in production, dubbed "The Secret Space Project", for a LONG time and an intended update anyway, not because players wanted it.

So, all your "suggestions" landed in the recycle bin, but you got the mouth to think "power to the people". You, sir, are the living proof that marketing works.

Links in my posting history for some of those.

Again, look at the players giving suggestions! "Oh! Armor too bulky! We want skimpy armor! Why is the armor skimpy? We want bulky armor!".

  3. Something interesting from the Vancouver Cantina Q/A

Andrew and Eric: We are always trying to find a balance between making subscribers feel rewarded for their money spent while also making sure FTP players get a chance to experience and enjoy the fun of the game, every time something new is added for FTP it actually is simultaneously taking something away from subs perks, so there needs to be balance and that is something we are always looking at changing.

So they clearly are looking at making more adjustments, but want them to have balance. Very interesting IMO.

I`ll quote my favorite fail "good feedback" phrase:

2 years later we are still at "good feedback".

  4. Then you're out of luck? Because as I understand it, that used to be in, in Beta, but they pulled it out? You can argue for it if you like, but I still don't see that it's worth the development time/money to mess with, especially in the format presented here. I'd much rather they spent that time and money on new content, something else to do besides the same tired dailies/FPs and Ops.

I`m out of luck for a lot of things, but I`ll still support this idea, because it does offer us a choice. I like choices very much. This just happens to be a SMART choice which I wanted since Beta, incidentally.

And Bioware has done far worse things IMO, so hopes are high.

  5. I use Nadia on my Shadow now, at 55. Heals are for people that can't kill fast enough, and if they can't kill fast enough, it's a gear issue. My tank spec'd Jugg uses Jaesa, and my Sent uses Kira. Notice a pattern? No healers required. Now if I were going to solo FPs at level, I might want to bring one, but really, if I hit the same FP with a guildy, I'd use Nadia on my Shadow, and let the guildy either heal, or run a healer comp. Our kill speed won't suck, and heals become a luxury, not a necessity for that kind of content. Ops are a different story, but since you can't use comps there anyway, it's really not worth the development time/money.

You are not reading it properly. I am not arguing with you or for anyone else how I play my toons and what I use as companions and why. You use whatever you want, I use whatever I need - not a question and not up fordebate neither.

I am arguing about the choice to bring whatever companion I want, when I want it, with whatever combo of AC I want to have, just like the examples above. I ALREADY HAVE the roles and that was never in question. I want those roles to be fulfilled by the companion OF MY OWN CHOOSING, not the forced POS role / comp combo.

I want Blizz as a healer and Zenith as tank. I also want Nadia Grell as healer and not DPS, just because I don`t like my current choices. I also want Forex as healer. Again, I ALREADY have those roles covered, but on the wrong companion, or a lesser... desired one. And some of them are downright opposite allignment!

  6. How are 2 DPSs shooting yourself in the foot? Kill faster, heal less. Gear up properly and this is exactly the scenario you wind up with. Changing stances, or totally revamping the builds won't change the fact that they have to gear to function, it will just mean that now you have to have even more gear for them to function, and since that seems to be an issue for people, it's not going to fix anything.

I`ll rephrase. I want Blizz to heal my Mercenary, not Mako. I also want Nadia to heal my Sage, not this POS Tharan Cedrax, with his crap ideas and me forced to always get middle choices to not lose affection. Or I can want Zenith to tank. Or Forex to heal my commando and not the uptight Dorne. At least he`s mildly amusing in his zeal.

You see, it`s not about the gear and never has been. It`s about having the companion I WANT, not the one I am forced to use because of my spec or gameplay choice.

  7. Yellow text said they`ll look what`s going on, not that there`s a problem.

The only question is this: Is it intended like that, or is it a bug? Because it might or might not be broken and the not dying parts be part of the armor. Not a decree, but it just might.

Just brace yourself for a long wait, however. You should see the reflections on Series 512 or the Unfettered Coat big butt which is only since august 2013.

  8. I was under impression that most companions already had dual roles? at least tank and healer companions also have dps stance you can switched them into, so they prioritize pew pew instead of heal/taunt. while pure dps companions basically switch between AoE focus and single target (I tend to default to AoE, personally).

so... I'm not entirely sure that these kits are in any way necessary or will provide any particular improvement to the existing roles. especially given that a lot of your suggestions are already in game.

now. being able to switch favorite companion into any of three roles via kits? that I could see being something interesting. not sure how feasible, but at least it would seem to provide more flexibility in companion choice.

Universal role kits, which give any companion any stance - like a healing Scorpio, or a tanking Dorne, for instance. Based on advanced class, you can end up having a cool companion that you can`t use, because you`ll just shoot yourself in the foot - DPS with DPS companion, or healer with healer, for instance.

So this idea will only, in effect, allow you to give the role you need to the companion you like and otherwise can`t use or use improperly because of class restriction / need.

  9. Ah, I see you don't grasp the basics of P2W: if I/you/someone can pay REAL MONEY for even the SLIGHTEST statistical advantage in combat which is not obtainable by means which are considered "free" - soft-currency, time, effort, etc. - then it is by definition "pay to win".

Case-in-point: You aren't given near enough complimentary CC for completing achievements (effort and time) to buy the Artifact unlock from the CM, which means the only way to use artifacts as a free player is to buy it off the GTN (soft currency) - will never happen, they're too expensive - or pay real money for it. Guess what that means?

I see you haven`t got the slightest idea of what you`re talking about.

P2W or Pay To Win, is an advantage that is EXCLUSIVE for cash - real cash. This game has none of this, because, IF you pay 15 bucks a month, just like everybody else, you have the SAME performance as everybody else.

In other words, there is NO ITEM in the game that will give you an edge over another player for real cash - no +60 crystal, no 186 rated gear off CM, no "Super Saber of Divine Retribution" that gives +100 all stats.

This being said, you DO have 2 options - freeload and have a large escrow then sub ONE month and buy all the unlocks you need, then let it lapse. The second one is sub and have the unlocks by default.

But you don`t get to call P2W your lack of sub and jealousy that you don`t get EVERYTHING for free. Pay your 15 and you can have purple stuff. Pay your 15 and you get rid of escrow and can buy nice things. If you are just a freeloader, you can`t call the limitations yourself refuse to avoid as pay 2 win.

Of course, feel free to point out something that gives POWER exclusive for money and not fluff. And crystals don`t count, as PvP has bolster, so it makes no difference if I have a +41 crystal at lvl 10 or a +4 or 9 what`s the preorder one - we both get bolstered up, so that difference is nil. IN other words, if you and me are subbed, what can I buy off CM that will give me a clear edge over someone in the game? I might have overlooked a +100 crystal, I won`t lie.

BTW, the red text should read as "by ingame means" - slight difference. You see, this game started as premium sale and sub based and it is still a sub based game. You being able to play for free doesn`t change that simple fact. So, it reads "by ingame means for a subscriber", not free.

  10. They are coming back in the next 2 packs I think. They are STILL butt ugly, but hey, we`ve come full circle!

    1. OH! Ugly threads! Take them away and give us naked pieces!

    2. Oh, but we are too naked, we need immersion!

    3. Tasteless naked and no daytime threads!

    4. We want the old **** designs back! Because we are crying cos we can`t get them but some others have them!

No dev in the world should ever listen to any player.

  11. Perhaps not the best idea on earth, I know id pay for it tho. Especially since the usual ultimate / elite gear is not an option for me (and classic / basic have a lack of customization options)

Dailies have weeklies which give comms. Comms buy gear.

And we are not limited to only Comms gear - there is a full section of CM armor on the GTN, most of which are quite affordable.

You lacking the money to afford said varied gear that can satisfy everybody minus the "I want old armors cos others have them and I`m having a nervous breakdown" crowd and the "I will never be happy" crowd is not a sufficient reason to add extra useless gear, I think.

Because you STILL HAVE the option to use ANY universal armor that can be used for a player to your companion - CM armors included (CM stands for Cartel Market or Adaptive Armor section on GTN).

One more thing - companions don`t benefit from set bonus, so, if you really hate questing, you can buy the gear off GTN (armorings / mods / enhancements), or use the Makeb 140 rated mods which you can buy with Planetary Comms - those you get naturally by dailies and 100 are almost enough for a full set.. almost.

Anything else is just some excuse for not being able to obtain gear, because you refuse to.

  12. not really cause you are still victim to the lockouts so you can technically only get so many coms per week at any rate. It is not like you can run dread fortress 10 times per week as lockout applies.

You did not read what I posted properly.

I CAN run DF 10 times per week if I got the time and the 10 characters to do it. 10 characters running capped weeklies is 1500 ultimates and 2500 elites as it is right now.

In the grand scheme of things, with multiple lvl 55`s, you only shorten the time it takes to gear up and that is something Bioware is trying to balance with the current caps as it stands right now, IMO.

    _____________________________

Say Bioware adds 50 to the ultimates cap - that is 500 extra ultimates for a 10 characters account. The offhand is 140 and the gear is between 100 and 120, so I can buy almost 4 MORE Oriconian pieces per week, which is one full week in the current system.

  13. I don`t like freeloaders.. at all. If anything, they need to limit gameplay even more for F2P.

No, free players buy unlocks because they don't want to be subject to ******** restrictions that have no real reason to exist in the first place. My reaction to learning that i was only allowed 3 loot rolls per week in FPs was "Fine, I just won't even do them then. Why bother participating in content if I get literally nothing out of it?". My reaction to not being allowed to use artifact mods/equipment was "Are you ******** me?! That's borderline P2W!". Subscribers buy cartel packs because they want to collect all of the shinies. My reaction to learning about cartel packs was "Meh, I can probably buy it off the GTN" followed immediately by "Wait, I can't buy it because I'm only allowed 250k/350k credits! ********!". Please learn to make valid comparisons before trying to argue for or against something.

15 bucks give me and you the same rights, so it`s not P2W. Also, it`s not my problem you can`t afford to buy off GTN - be a good boy and spend some cash, either by getting a month of sub, to be able to get money to buy what you need, or buy Coins and buy directly. But the problem is still there - you want for free what everybody else is paying - HOPEFULLY you`ll never have it, not for free, anyway.

  14. Lego Armor with metal plates. Dye with silver / grey colors to match the metal or look like crap.

You asked for ingame armors, they gave you ingame armors. Now you are like that gypsy that is never satisfied and always begging for more. Reason why no dev in the world should listen to the forums.

I hope they don`t change it, as that plating is part of the nice look.

  15. PvP GSF or Dailies can give you 156 / 162 gear at the very least, which adds up. Extra comms you just buy elite / ultimate gear, strip mods and put into companions. Which companions can wear universal orange armor, so you have the SAME options to customize a companion as you have for a player.

And I sincerely don`t see the point in having special gear for companions, when we can have it for players, which players can elect to buy a second set, another set, or unlock in collections via CCs - to gear up said companions.

  16. Any idea that lets us have double xp full time is great I've got a lot of characters to level up so yeah this be a tremendous benefit I would support this but I have a question for you how many Star Wars players does it take on this message board site to get a suggestion to pass and have the developers accept it and use it ?

1 or 5 bil. If Bioware doesn`t want to do it or has no plans for it it won`t pass, regardless.

<-- this was, is and will be a problem for the reason the guy is saying it - it IS splitting guilds. We never have gone past "good feedback", but we`re getting new CM armors, folks!
