  1. I can see one way of having "Legacy" children.. Given that is a heavily driven story MMO with each planet basically being a progress in time, a new map of the galaxy can be drawn as being 20 years post Battle of Corellia. This map would be a secondary map in the game, giving the current characters you have the option to continue on their story as well as starting a lineage decendancy in the form of having more alts. There would have to be some reasonable restrictions to this. One, you cannot access this map unless you have maxxed affection and completed all companion quests with your marital companion, and possibly to include Act 3, as this would be the galaxy quite sometime after the current events. It would not make sense otherwise. Second, the "Legacy" childern will never be able to access the former galaxy, for obvious continuity reasons, but your current characters can. I can't imagine the resources or time needed for this, but as a future option, this would be epic.
  2. Just my opinion here, but if one of our missile abilities were to undergo a few effective changes, perhaps our survivability, or our inability to deal with melee classes, would be in a better situation. We could be given something similar to Missile Blast where a long-range knockback could be applied to, with of course a reasonable cooldown or long enough cast time to prevent knockback-chaining. There is of course the possibility of just increasing the threshold and duration of Energy Shield. Nothing near static barrier, but enough to increase our utility in PvP.
  3. Great. But let's have a level head in how we respond. We don't need the forums to point out someone should do their job. I think we can do better without people being so indignant. To answer your question, the community team does read these boards and relay the information to the developers. Many of the patches show that.
  4. I don't know. Why don't you call up the Austin HQ and ask to speak to the Human Resources Manager and inquire about the job description of the software development team. It may or may not be their job. We only say it because we expect it. And our expectations sometimes are, and this seems to be SO true for these boards, misplaced. Btw, let's try to have a level head in how we respond.
  5. Why are you even here? Why post in a forum for a game you don't care about? Are you so miserable that some people may actually enjoy this game? You're not going to change any decisions that have been made. You're not pointing out anything new. There are people out there that can't even fathom the idea that some people have found enjoyable things in the game and continue on playing it. That's called mind projection fallacy. They go on about how are people stupid for supporting such a crappy game and then actually wish this game would just shut down and fail so hard so that some sort of .. healing process, I guess.. can be amended to fix some sort of implicit wound they have. They are the lover crying in the shower over some lost love. Man up.
  6. Wildstar's housing system for all you homemakers out there.
  7. He's asking basically to buy cartel coins towards "in store credit" for the GTN.
  8. BioWare did hype this game through the roof. But they didn't hype anything they didn't have already had in the game. They hyped the "forth pillar" through the roof, and that's the one thing people, including the haters, said they got right. Even you are saying that. I don't see how the hype was false. As for the zones (if you mean planets) two to three times the size of a WoW zone, they didn't hype this. Beta players did. And I would say some of these planets are two to three times the size of WoW zones. They're just linear as you pointed out. 50 more planets planned. I don't see how BioWare failed on something in planning stages, since planning is just that, planning. Matter of fact, there are several instances that point to this planning. For one, you have Makeb. Secondly, information has been datamined indicating Varl and Lehon do exist to a degree. I'm still trying to figure out what the average MMO gamer wants. People on one side wanted Sorcs nerfed. People on the other side didn't want Sorcs nerfed. People on one side wanted Operatives nerfed. People on the other side didn't want Operatives nerfed. The community can't even decide. You stand by the OPINION that if people wanted this much story they would buy a book. It's not a fact. I however stand by the fact that KOTOR was a popular game by many players, as well as Mass Effect, and those had story. Games can be a medium for story just as well as any book. I agree with you here; except for the mini-games. I'm of the mind, and the experience, that only a few select people play mini-games in any MMO.
  9. You probably should of wrapped this in the spoilers tag.
  10. Actually it doesn't. Venting, as a form of coping mechanism, increases stress rather then decrease . While acceptance, humor and positive reframing helps to decrease the stress and cope with perfection tendencies (i.e. expecting services in full).
  11. Any plans for a community effort event like the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj; maybe with something in line of the Rakghoul event?
  12. Save it. People are not going to get it. Instead reposting in ongoing suggestion threads over and over where this stuff is already being suggested to get a point across and have, you know, one unifying voice, people are going to post separately because that's how they view it as getting a point across, even though that form is no where near as being optimized as a major thread, and now we so many mixed threads that it becomes confusing and non viable for actual review and comment. The people on these boards are so self-defeating sometimes.
  13. You can change your family tree as often as you like. Nothing is set in stone.
  14. It was suggested in the Class Feedback thread to give Mercs some sort of cover ability. Not on scale with Sniper, but something to increase survivability. This would make Arsena, and thus TM more, attractive to use in PvP without the need of instant cast. Of course, such an ability would have to be high in the tree to deter from hybriding because a Bodyguard Merc can then just stay in cover and constantly heal and be considered immortal.
  15. It was a joke. Chill. But since you want to use a facetious argument, there is not one spec that gives the ability to kite. Not one. The only one that comes close is Sweltering Heat's 50% speed reduction that relies on a 6% chance for CGC to proc.
  16. I'm posting an idea that I would like to see from playing previous games with these features that would be fun and engaging, and hoping that the idea will catch on with other players and encourage the devs to implement. Regional Control: Planetary zones that are either Imperial controlled, Republic controlled or Contested. A percentage of control over various regions of a planet that are calculated according to a number of specific objectives such as presence of PvP flagged players or faction bases that require active participation to control/turnover. Of course these regions cannot overly interfere with class or planetary quests Controlling a region can increase the number and combat level of NPC spawns that patrol that region and/or provide a small buff. These dynamic changes can inspire realm pride and perhaps even boasting with some sort of Galaxy Control scoreboard.
  17. 1. In PvP, Mercs are viewed as easy kills, and it's echoed quite well on the forum boards. 2. I was Arsenal and switched to Pyrotech and had much better mobility and only a slightly better increase in damage. But you would do much with that spec as a Powertech due to not only survivability, but the 100% proc of Combustible Gas Cylinder and a reduction in target speed by 50%. An advantage a Merc could because of our low survivability compared to other classes, or what someone mentioned before, using stationary cover but with less percentage then Sniper cover.
  18. Give us Mercs back our killing power of Tracer Missile. That will detract from the "OMG Maras/Sents are OP" for a bit.
  19. What's holding SWTOR back is this frame of mind from the devs: (article on Daniel Erickson on digitaltrends.com) “What we always say is, before the game came out it was our game. As soon as it launched, it became the community’s game,” Erickson added. “The number one request we get with a bullet [in terms of] what people want more of, is story. They just want their story to keep going. They want to see more of The Old Republic, they want to see how the galaxy is developing, and they want to do it with their prime characters.”
  20. Nothing wrong with being positive. It's no indication that those who are positive are in denial of this game's shortcomings or style of gameplay. The ones who declare others are fanboys usually are: 1. They same individuals who will call most anybody in society "sheep" because somehow they're more enlightened as to how the world really is then anybody else. And 2. Frusturated at those who enjoy the game regardless of what is happening, and claim that this will keep the devs from making the game better. Really, its just rhetoric and a facetious argument.
  21. That's it. That's all you ever need. More innovative ways to play the content. Forget these long-winded posts about what's wrong with missions, story, crafting, or customer service. Give us the chance to play our Bounty Hunters with our Imperial Agent alts acting as a "companion" in some quest and people are gonna wow at the idea and be happy. Or let us build some super fortress on Hoth or Tatooine that is constructed as a community effort and it all makes the game seem less linear.
  22. What are people asking for, besides what you just said? That's an honest question. I haven't seen too many innovative ideas coming from these forums (other then turn the space game into EVE, but that is just unrealistic to ask for). The most I have seen are requests for new races, space game off rails, pazaak, and chat bubbles. Is that it? None of that is going to keep anyone around for very long, to be honest. People will still be clamoring for more to do. It's all fluff really. SWG had mini games, guess how that turned out? Space sim too, but it was such a small area of interest. People need to start suggesting dynamic ideas. Be creative and suggestive. Going back to the popular requests, all everyone is asking for is new species, pazaak, no space rails, chat bubbles, and ideas based off the Legacy feature. About the only cool thing I saw was guild capital ships and someone asking for crystals to be used on speeders as running lights. Why not suggest a world like Manaan where the player can walk around underwater, or just one sandbox planet where the goal is to construct mega fortresses for your guild/alliance/faction, which becomes a PvE community event, where by the end the opposite faction raids the fortress, and now you have meaningful PvP. Suggest something new.
